About this cabin rental
Located on a quiet street, this 2-bedroom 2-bath cabin is surrounded by majestic old-growth Redwood trees. Relax with a glass of wine on one of two new redwood decks. The sound of birds flapping their wings as they fly overhead is one of the only sounds you'll hear. Inside, enjoy the mid-century architecture and a collection of ever-evolving modern and folk art.
The cabin is our family getaway, our absolute favorite spot, and we offer it to guests just ten times a year. The architecturally striking cabin, the prettiest one in the area, is close to great wineries, restaurants, spas, and hiking. Just as importantly - it's not in the flood zone nor the fire zone.
We know this cabin is more expensive than some others in the area, and it doesn't disappoint. You'll find comfortable mid-century furniture with plenty of modern touches. The grounds are landscaped and bouquets of locally grown fresh flowers are inside. The kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry areas are fully stocked, from spices and butter to detergents and soap, and plenty of paper products. Lots of extras are included - kindling and almond firewood, charcoal for the BBQ, beer & soft drinks in the fridge, ice cream in the freezer, and retro coffee service with a Chemex pourover.
We manage the cabin ourselves and it's a passion project for us. Every detail is meticulously cared for - from the gardens to the linens. We take the time to get it picture perfect, inside and out, for our guests. We've hosted anniversaries, milestone birthdays, and several honeymoons and wedding parties.
Please inquire if you want to bring a pet. We occasionally allow a well-behaved dog, never puppies or other animals. All stays with pets need to be approved with the owner prior to booking.
The cabin's exterior, with a dramatic roofline, has won architectural awards. The inside was recently remodeled, creating an open and inviting living space. We've added lots of original artwork. Skylights in every room - even over the beds and above the fireplace - bring the outdoors in. A huge stone fireplace and an audiophile's sound system make this a cabin to remember. Romantic and cozy for a couple as well as great for young families. (Please let us know if children are coming - we store children's gear offsite.)
We know cleanliness is important to our guests. It's super important to us, too, and to be perfectly honest, we're slightly obsessed with keeping the cabin sparkling clean. You'll notice that carpets have just been shampooed, and windows and skylights are spotless. All linens (including blankets, pillows, and coverlets) are sanitized well in advance of each stay. We don't take back to back bookings.
Sleeps up to two. (Set up as a two bedroom, but the cabin is a legal one bedroom because of the septic system size.) Comfortable beds include a CA King from European Sleepworks in the master bedroom, queen bed in the office, and an almost full size pull out sofa in the living room, which is fine for children or one adult. Radiant heat floors in the bathrooms, central heat, and a wood burning Fisher stove keep you warm inside, as the majestic Redwoods and large front-yard Bigleaf Maple keep the property slightly cooler than the surrounding areas. Custom California Closets, high-end linens and appliances including a Bosch washer and dryer, and floor to ceiling windows throughout.
The two new redwood decks add another 1200 feet of outside space for you to enjoy. On the shade-filled side deck, fern fronds quietly unfold. On the spacious back deck, bordered by red and purple flowers, Anna's hummingbirds are enticed to feed. Each deck has multiple seating options and year-round warmth beneath commercial patio heaters.
Announcing our new collaboration with Bruce Patch Wines! All 2023 stays receive a complimentary bottle of Bruce Patch's 2018 Harris Kratka Zinfandel, 2019 Schoolhouse Creek Old Vine Zinfandel, or 2020 Sauvignon Blanc. Our friend and neighbor Bruce is a renowned winemaker, has access to incredible vineyards, and makes bold & flavorful wines with an artful label. See www.brucepatch.com for more.
You might not have heard of Forestville, CA, before. (We hadn't either.) With a population of just over 3,000, it's home to vineyards, farms, wineries and a small downtown shopping area. It's wonderfully diverse. On the one hand, you might see wild turkeys meandering down our road, and there's a Michelin starred restaurant in Forestville, too. We're happy to recommend our favorite haunts - many close-by and fabulous wineries and restaurants for you to visit during your stay.
The cabin finally has internet as of July 2023, thanks to Starlink's new technology for rural areas - relying on 4,000 small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). It's still a rural cabin with plenty of giant redwood tree obstructions, but cell phone service and internet are now available. Starlink has plans to add another 8,000 LEO satellites, so we expect internet service to become more robust over time.

Beautiful cabin a peaceful relaxing location.

Wonderful property in the redwoods. Excellent communication with owner. Highly recommend.

This cabin in the redwoods is an exceptional getaway for anyone who enjoys peace and nature. We were visited by hummingbirds every morning and watched the deer roam around in the evening. It is a short drive to all of wine country, especially the Russian River valley. Communicating with Elizabeth was wonderful and she made a personalized experience for my wife and me who were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. A great place you will not forget!

Very quiet, comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished. We enjoyed our stay and the location. It was amazing to be surrounded by redwoods. We could even see them through the skylights! We how to return!

We had a lovely stay at the cabin, which is located in a very tranquil area of the redwoods. It is beautiful and a great place to unwind but also conveniently located for visiting the area. The cabin had everything we needed for a long stay and our host, Elizabeth, was extremely helpful and made our stay wonderful. We will be back!

Very comfortable cabin. Wonderful location for all the sonoma county activities.

We stayed here during a very rainy January so we did not get to experience most of the outdoor space this property has to offer, however it is very cute and quiet. We really enjoyed waking up surrounded by Redwoods and it is not far to fantastic wineries and restaurants.
Elizabeth, the host, was very communicative and helpful and truly made this a wonderful experience.

Our stay was very nice and communication from the owner was above and beyond! Thought for improvement on listing: the listing should say "Pets allowed with approval by owner". We had a bit of a mix up on that but all worked out very nicely.

We enjoyed a relaxing, comfortable weekend. Such a lovely home In a peaceful gorgeous setting. Wow wonderful place to stay!

Perfect getaway and base for exploring Russian River Valley vineyards; main challenge was finding the house the first time (great instructions) and dealing with spotty internet (typical of the entire surrounding area ... just needed to plan ahead; provided a great opportunity to "unplug" more than usual, talk more, and dig into a good book); we'll be back

My wife and I completely enjoyed our time in Forestville. Our hostess was very helpful and responsive to our questions. She provided excellent recommendations for wine tasting and places of interest to visit. We hope to return for a getaway soon.

We had an incredible stay. The house was incredibly well decorated and just quirky enough to make it extra special. Most importantly, the owner was really welcoming and made sure our time in Forestville was memorable. It felt like we were staying at a friend's house. Would 100% recommend.

A beautiful, quiet and peaceful home amongst the redwoods!!! We enjoyed sitting outside as we breathed in fresh pine air and listened to the silence with intermittent echoing chirps. This place is perfect to get away from the everyday world to relax and reset oneself. Everything in this rental from the location, décor, and of course Elizabeth & Mark’s gracious hospitality, only creates a fabulous experience. This was our first VRBO rental and will always be a cherished one.

The cabin is a great place to completely unplug from the outside world and take a moment to truly relax. From the comfortable beds to the beautiful outdoor patio and spacious kitchen, this place is beautiful and perfect for when you need to take a moment away from everyday life and just breathe. Elizabeth is a wonderful host- attentive, helpful, and kind. I can't say enough great things about this place. I will definitely be back!

This is a very nice home/Canin, with a well appointed kitchen, which we loved so cooking was fun & stress free! Charming Wood stove & lively little creek with lovely gardens & grounds around the multiple patio/deck spaces. Nice linens, & well done upgrades & charm in the bed & bathrooms. Definitely worth the visit & close to fun wine tasting & great hiking/walks nearby!

Elizabeth, one of the owners (along with her husband), was a brilliant communicator, with precise details and so generous with sharing recommendations of nearby restaurants and activities. She was spot on with all of it! The cabin is pristine and has everything you need. The one thing the cabin does not have is cell service/internet/tv -- and this is one of the reasons we chose this property. We needed to have zero temptation to use devices -- and this is the place to do just that! They have a great sound system wired throughout the cabin, so listening to music was pure delight. They provide everything you need for building a fire indoors, or heated patios/decks for outdoor relaxing (it was too cold out for us to enjoy the outdoor space, but floor to ceiling windows in the cabin give you all the same spectacular views of the redwoods and thoughtful landscaping). I do recommend that you print up directions to a few of the spots you know you will visit (grocery store, Guerneville, etc) because you do not have any cell service at the cabin -- it takes quite a few miles to get any cell service (unless you have Verizon, there is better coverage apparently -- we had AT+T and had to drive quite a distance to get cell service). We had planned ahead and printed out multiple location directions - super helpful. BTW, there is a landline at the cabin you can use -- that gave us a sense of safety in case there was an emergency. We never used it, but was glad it was there. This was definitely one of our favorite vacations - super chill, and the location was fantastic as there is so much to do in the surrounding towns (hiking, kayaking, national parks, etc). If you truly want to completely unplug and relax, this cabin is for you!

Perfect place for a weekend away from everything. Close to coast and wineries. Quiet location.

A beautiful & peaceful retreat in the Sonoma redwoods. Everything you could wish for is provided & Elizabeth ensures that arrival & departure are easy.
The outdoor living spaces will allow you to quickly forget the hustle & bustle of everyday.
We hated to leave!

Great property. It’s open and private. Great place to unplug when not out enjoying wine country.

We absolutely loved this high end property. The owners attention to detail is impressive. No tv or internet which we loved so bring your favorite book. There was also an impressive art collection. We look forward to going back

The cabin was such a special place. Quiet, beautiful surroundings, thoughtful touches by the owners. It made for a perfect getaway and LOVED that it didn’t have TV, internet and cell service. Would definitely go back!

Lovely spot in the woods
Everything was delightful, but the best part was how cool and quiet the cabin was. We had 2 very hot days but the cabin remained very comfortable.

Magical
This cabin is a beautiful, cozy, sparkling clean, home in the woods. The scenery surrounding the cabin is magical. It is peaceful and serene. The attention to detail by Elizabeth and Mark is so impressive. They are great hosts. The communication was excellent. We had no issues during our stay. We were happy to not have internet or cell service, as it makes for a much needed quiet break. We cannot wait to visit again.

The owners have put a lot thought and love into this property both inside and out. The decor is warm, inviting and tasteful. Large windows and french doors throughout the cabin afford beautiful views of the trees and landscaping and create a lovely indoor/outdoor connection. We appreciated the thorough communications of the hosts which made our arrival stress free. They provided several generous touches such a complimentary bottle of wine, sodas, coffee and ice cream.
Pet owners should note that the property is not fenced in but it has a cable dog run.

Mid-century gem in the forest
We had a wonderful stay in the cabin. It was so welcoming, we could hardly tear ourselves away. Although we did manage a little local exploring, hiking in Armstrong Woods, and a fine dinner at Hazel in Occidental.
The cabin is truly a gem in the woods. We enjoyed everything about it. The owners clearly have a great eye for interior design, as well as art. It has all been put together with such care and attention to detail.
It was a pleasure to stay in a property with such a well-equipped chef’s kitchen. We had fun cooking there. So often in other places useful items such as a cheese grater or a bottle opener are nowhere to be found! It felt like we were staying at a friend’s house rather than in a rental property.

Spotless and Serene !!
This is a beautiful property that is cozy and classy. We loved the location, the very functional kitchen, the delightful seating arrangements, the fireplace, the great outdoor area, and the owner's attention to detail. The home is secluded yet close to everything! By far one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. Thank you Elizabeth !!

A very special forest retreat
We loved our stay at Elizabeth’s Forestville cabin. There is no wifi or cell service, which only added to feel of being on a true retreat from normal stressors. The cabin is beautifully decorated with mid century furnishings and original artwork. It was also kid and dog friendly with a wide range of games and books available, as well as dog supplies to use. The hosts generously stocked the fridge/freezer with beer, soda, and ice cream (the good stuff too!) and provided a complimentary bottle of local wine. We hope to visit again soon!

Had an awesome time!
Wonderful cabin in a beautiful location with everything you need to totally relax. Will be coming back for sure.

Luxurious, spotless, solitude
Hosts Elizabeth and Mark are the benchmark for great hosts.
They communicated clearly and delivered an awesome, beautifully appointed hideaway in the redwoods. Quality linens and a "ready to cook" gourmet kitchen were exactly what we had hoped for.
Patio heaters (not needed on this trip) and a cozy wood burning stove with fire ready wood/kindling were a treat. A very peaceful, thoroughly comfortable adventure in the woods.
