About this house rental
Bahama Sunset is a beautiful island home set on rugged cliffs overlooking the quiet Caribbean Ocean!
Guests at Bahama Sunset have a view of the crystalline blue-green waters from every window, and each night can watch stunning sunsets glide into the ocean from the wrap-around deck that hangs over the cliffs. You'll find excellent snorkeling and diving a one minute walk down the stone cut steps that bring you to your own private lagoon.
The marine life in our 'lagoon' includes colorful parrot fish, balloon fish, moray eel, grouper, lobster, crab, needle fish, red fans, sea snails, many varieties of coral and all kinds of other beautiful sea life. Eleuthera is a quiet, rural island and the nearby village, Gregory Town, is a sleepy harbor town full of friendly Bahamian natives. The night life at Bahama Sunset includes an orchestra of crickets and the dance of the ocean in the lagoon.
Bahama Sunset is the perfect place to get away with that special someone and spend lots of quality alone time. This house was built for 2 with love, however there is a full size futon bed in the great room for additional guests. Many of the guests that visit Bahama Sunset, go to celebrate their engagements, honeymoons or anniversaries. Eleuthera is a quiet island, comprised of local farmers and fisherman. Everything is really laid back and it is not your typical tourist destination, you wont find any crowded beaches, as a matter of fact, you will probably be the only people at most of the islands beaches. There are dozens of beautiful sandy, secluded beaches scattered all over the island, many less than a mile away. The house is located just south of Gregory Town (less than a mile). You can fly into either of Eleuthera's 2 airports (ELH or GHB) from MIA, FLL or NAS. The house does not have internet, nor does it have a phone but cellular service is available with data. There are places on the island where you can check your emails by Wi-Fi if this is necessary. There are several restaurants nearby and there are stores in Gregory Town . Our Caretaker Phillip can help you arrange surfboard, charters, fishing guides, bike and kayak rentals Keep in mind, you will not be able to explore many of the islands beaches without a car. The ocean is accessed by a set of stairs and a small ladder (due to tides), there is great fishing and diving/snorkeling, swimming right below the house. I assure you “Paradise is not an Illusion”
“Eleuthera is ranked and reviewed as “Sexiest Beach Escapes” by Bing Travel, high on the list of “25 Sexiest Beaches in the World” by Forbes Traveler, and awarded the “Best Secret Island On Earth” by Travel and Leisure”.

We enjoyed our stay in March so much, we couldn’t wait to come back. This time, while snorkeling in the lagoon, we spotted one of the sea turtles and a lion fish. This charming and comfy cottage is perfect for a couples getaway. Phillip, the caretaker is also wonderful.

My wife and I had four relaxing days here. It's a great place to turn off your cell phone, enjoy the ocean and unwind. The house had proper kitchen tools and we were able to find convenience/grocery stores nearby to buy ingredients for basic meals. We found a couple of great restaurants for dinner that provide some variety and local flavors. Having a car was a must as we were able to explore the island and go to the beach for a great day out. Highly recommend!

Firstly, I have to say we wanted to be somewhere off the beaten path, away from crowds, places like Atlantis or Sandals. This was exactly what we needed. My wife and I came to Scott's property for our honeymoon and were definitely not disappointed. We explored the island every day, spent afternoons snorkeling in the cove, had dinner at different restaurants on the island. Did a little grocery shopping at the North Eleuthera shopping center and Seymours Variety. Checked out just about every beach, cave, point of interest we could. Drove all the way south to Lighthouse beach and had the entire place to ourselves.
The cove at the property was amazing, a school of fish would come through every morning and we would rush to go swim with them. TONS of fish in the cove to see. I would bet that we spent a good 2-3 hours a day just watching the fish.
Spanish wells was ok, not really what we went to the island for but interesting nonetheless. I really liked Daddy Joes restaurant. My wife even left her purse there and they found it, put it in a special spot, and when we came back the next day they had held it for her where no one could get it. Although with how friendly everyone was i doubt it would have been a problem. Such amazing people!
All in all it was a wonderful experience, I would definitely come back again, but next time I'm gonna suck it up and try the Souse with my man Jah.
We have so many good stories from our trip to Paradise. Sorry it took so long for us to review

Beautiful views. Quiet and relaxing

We had such a wonderful time at this property for our 30th anniversary. It's a cozy cabin with enough room to be comfortable and the amenities we needed to do a lot of our own meal prep. We visited several beaches while on Eleuthera, and none even came close to offering the property's view and snorkeling opportunities. In the lagoon, we saw several reef fish, including needlefish, barracuda, porcupine fish, grouper, spiny lobster, stingray, and more. The location is a favorite for several sea turtles as well. The steps to the water are steep, and the ladder into the lagoon requires a bit of upper-body strength and courage to navigate, but we did alright (in our 50s). If you like seclusion, peace, and amazing views this property has it! We also liked the central island location, not too far from areas like Gregory Town or Governor's Harbor for shopping and dining out.

Very quiet and very private cabin-like home perfect for 2. Lovely deck overlooking the beautiful turquoise water. We didn’t swim as the wave were very rough during our stay-but with beaches all over the place, that was ok.

After returning home, the stay in Gregory Town seems like a dream. A dream filled with smiles, adventures, relaxation and the sounds of the Sea lapping against the rock below the house. Such a wonderful hiatus from the real world.

Obviously the view is absolutely amazing and yes it’s better in person! Love the simplicity of the house - found the inside to be nicer than i anticipated from the pictures. It’s cozy but charming! We did spend most of the time at the house on the back porch though! We were delayed a day arriving which created some stress but Phillip met us at the property when we made it in with the car that we were also renting for the week. Made it entirely stress free and we needed that after being delayed 24 hours in a canceled flight / standby mess coming in. Would definitely rent here again!

House is spartan, but has all that you need and is comfortable. The site is just perfect. Great snorkeling right out your door and down the steps, as well as to north and south of cottage. Plus you can spend hours gazing at the sea and watching for sea turtles from the porch. And spectacular beaches a drive away to north and south. Host & caretaker were very easy to work with. Eleuthera is a place to slow down and go with the flow. Nearby grocery/convenience stores may not have exactly what you are looking for, but have pretty much all that you need.

Bahama Sunset exceeded our expectations. From the deck, we watched everyday as the sea turtles swam by. At night, we watched the stars and the occasional satellite zip across the sky. It was truly a magical location and vacation. We will be back!

Beautiful place to stay. The swimming and snorkeling in the lagoon is amazing. Quiet and peaceful property. Rustic but charming. Inside not great for lounging on a rainy day but we spent most the time outside anyway! We will be back.

The most relaxing vacation ever. We enjoyed the very private and safe space. The lagoon was fun to snorkel in and watch fish and turtles swim. The sunsets were incredible from the deck and we enjoyed cooking local fish and conch on the outdoor grill. We hope to visit again!

This cabin was exactly as promised and we thoroughly enjoyed our adventure! Communication with Scott and Phillip was great and we had no problems at the property. Scott has done a good job of describing the property and what you need to bring with you. The cabin is very simple - if you're looking for luxury, go elsewhere. We loved the simplicity and quite frankly, spent almost all our time on the deck or in the water. If you're a snorkeler or diver, you will be enchanted by the cove and the sea life you can see there - turtles, all kinds of fish, squid, small jelly fish (non-stinging), a small shark, crabs, star fish - you name it, we saw it. And please, be respectful of the sea life! Absolutely amazing! Already working on a return trip.

So many great things to say about this place. Watch National Geographic from your back deck every evening as the sea life takes harbor in the rocks. House is clean and well kept. The owner is very detailed about what to bring. Stayed here once and booked again a year later, it’s simply unbelievable. Stairs are very steep, place is only good for 13 to 65 year old people due to the ability to get down the steps and back up. Don’t let that deter you from the most unbelievable view in your life!

We stayed at Bahamas Sunset in August and it truly was the best vacation we have ever had. Scott’s property is a dream… and is exactly as described. Phillip, the property manager was the nicest, most welcoming person to have as a contact in Eleuthera. He gave us fresh produce from his farm and answered all of our calls/texts. The rental car was exactly what we needed and allowed us to explore all of island. The property is something different, we explored end to end of Eleuthera and always came back to the house feeling like we found “home”. The mesmerizing water view from the deck is like nothing else… let alone snorkeling around and seeing all the underwater magic. The large rocks create an incredible barrier that allow you to snorkel comfortably even on windy days. The structure provides habitat for a variety of marine life and you will be amazed at all that you will see. Once you’ve seen it you’ll understand the saying of “paradise is not an illusion” and it will keep you coming back.

We loved it in Eleuthera. I had great communication with Scott. Scott also
Had a vehicle for us to rent so that was one thing less to worry about. The water at this property was amazing. The house is secluded and private. Looking for an adventure - Eleuthera could be it.

Loved our stay! The view from the balcony was breathtaking at all times of the day. Saw sea turtles swimming right past the rocks. Since we were there in the off season we saw very few tourists. Most everywhere we went we were the only ones there! Make sure to carry cash since most places do not take cards. Make sure to have food bought before Sunday since most everything is closed.

It is NOT an illusion, it is VERY REAL and VERY AMAZING! It is Paradise!
My wife and I have been blessed to travel throughout the Caribbean, North America and even Europe. Bahama Sunset stands well above most every other experience. Scott Cahoy has thought of everything you'll need and extras. Landscaping, grounds keeping, amenities are top notch. Most amazing the access to your own private lagoon, for snorkeling or scuba. You will not see such amazing sunsets like those from your own private deck looking westward. The property is well off the highway, private and quietly hidden amongst the tropical foliage. Close proximity to Gregory Town to buy your essentials or eat out at local restaurants. Great cell signal. We stayed here before, and will continue to back - time and time again. One of the best VRBO values (luxury, amenities, views and costs) you will find, certainly in the Bahamas. Your stay will help you unplug from the frenetic pace of the world, quiet every voice within you and get re-centered with life.

Gorgeous Location
My son and I stayed for 5 nights and we could not think of a more beautiful location with total privacy. The house has a very quaint, cottage feel with a deck that overlooks a small, private harbor created by the large rocks you will see in the property photos. Highly recommend for 2-3 people.

Magnifique situation pour les amoureux de snorkeling.
Adorable petit cottage accroché à la falaise. 45 marches plus bas, une piscine naturelle aux coraux et poissons multicolores.

Buy the insurance
Unfortunately I contracted Covid 72 hours before our trip. We had to cancel our trip due to Bahamas guidelines. I was credited for flights but Scott did not refund our stay, due to being in high season and only three days out from our stay. I should have bought the insurance. Luckily my father was already there and could use the house since we did not get refund. He said they could have stocked more toilet paper and paper towels and dish soap. We will try our trip again at another time.

Peace & plenty of wildlife
Easy & quick communication with both owner & caretaker - Phillip can arrange wifi quickly. Definitely rent the car but make sure to spend enough time here, sealife is amazing & you feel very honoured to be able to view so easily even out of the water. Spacious & comfortable, aircon great & not too noisy.

Something different..,💕🌴
This was a smooth in/out trip from Texas to Eleuthera. We loved our private swimming location! So much coral, fish, and TURTLES!! Perfect snorkel and float spot, we didn’t want to leave and explore the island because we had paradise off our back porch. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer…next time!

Phenomenal Place!
Absolutely stunning property. We were in awe every night staring out at the sea from the nice deck chairs on our perch on top of the cliff. Loved it and would absolutely stay here again! Everything worked great in the house. It was clean, in good repair, and had a great vibe. Lots of privacy.

Breathtaking
Each morning we woke up with the sunrise and immediately went snorkeling. Breakfast and coffee on the porch. Saw several sea turtles. Explored the entire island. Sunset dinners and wine on the porch each night. My kind of trip!!!

Best place EVER!!!
If you are looking for a private get away. This is it. I can't say enough about this place the pictures are spot on. Phillip and his son Carlos are awesome. They answer the phone and follow up with whatever is needed. Carlos even let me borrow a fishing rod. The fishing was great. The people on the island are so nice that's every where we went. I highly recommend renting his vehicle. Because the store is in gregory town north of the property just maybe 2 miles away. And there's another smaller store 3 miles south of the property. They both just have essentials, ONLY pretty much. Harbour Island is about 30 min drive north and a 5 min boat ride over to the island its fun and is a larger town than where the property is located. That's one of the reasons I recommend Renting the vehicle to sightsee. We loved the whole experience and are definitely coming back to this PROPERTY!!! AWESOME

Private with the Caribbean Sea as your pool
The house has pretty much everything you need except laundry facilities. If it’s not there, just ask Phillip. House is very quiet and secluded. You can only see one other porch from your deck.
The snorkeling right there is as good as anywhere else on the island, but be sure not to miss Sweetings pond.
The island is very laid back and a good place for doing your own quiet thing.
The only negative would be the no-see-ups which got my wife pretty good the first week.
Gas and groceries are expensive, but hey, it’s the Bahamas!

Perfect Honeymoon getaway
Everything was just as described and shown in pictures. The house is very clean, the bathroom is large, and the view is absolutely stunning. Gregory Town is a friendly place with locals that are willing to help with whatever you may need. Amazing vacation! Thank you Scott and Phillip.

Peaceful Reflection
It was great to be "unplugged" for a few days and be able to sit on the deck and look at the ocean for as long as you wanted with no noise from anywhere (except the ocean). The cottage was clean, comfortable, spacious...all we needed and more. Plus, the snorkeling was amazing!
