Great family vacation

On our first day we found stinky decayed dead mice on a sticky board beneath a table in the main room. Messaged the host. "John, we arrived just after 2:30 PM. Everything smooth. Decided to brush up on a little putting game I have and the ball went underneath the credenza. Looking under to retrieve my ball found these two dead mice on a sticky board decayed and odiferous. I have the photo here to send you, but I do not know how.to attach it. I have disposed of them, but frankly shocked." His answer: Message from the host
"Bryan, I am sorry you found those. To be honest, they are very common in the mountains. We have six homes up here and all six of them are treated A-1 pest control. it seems like no matter what you do they still find a tiny crank or an open door to get in. Please accept my apologies for this unpleasant experience. I will contact the pest control company tomorrow. " Not what I was expecting and insultingly condescending. Also, you need to know this property is stairs and stairs. It's not a bad place but best for young families or teens. The
dead mice incident, which from the decayed corpses indicated they had been there a long time, and the cavalier response would dissuade me from any of this host's properties. The property is, however, well-decorated and has a lovely view from the deck. This is only my experience. I have stayed at VRBOs in the US and Virgin Islands and have had many good experiences in the past, and we prefer VRBOs.

We had a wonderful time. Loved this place. Our only compliant was lack of soap to wash hands.there was no dish soap to hand wash dishes.
The house was very centrally located to everything.

There were 8 of us on a church retreat. The home is beautiful and well equipped. The views are amazing. There are several steps to get down to the walkway to the home that should be noted for older renters, we had an 83 yo with us and it was difficult for her. The steps inside are a little steep and she had to stay on the main level the entire 7 day stay. Also, on the warmer days the home reached 76 - 77 degrees (in April) it was quite warm inside even with the windows and doors open (that we could open). I contacted the owner about several issues and his response was to raise the windows and open the doors and indicated that ac wasn't really needed in the mountains and that he would address the other issues after we left, including the ice machine that had quit working. Not the response that we had expected.

Access to property was good. Close to banner elk downtown. Def bring extra PT and TP, soap, shampoo. Great views. Nice layout for families with separate floors. Hard to control the temperature since no AC and vaulted ceilings.
4.9
Beautiful property with the best views. The hot tub wasn't working but that was the only thing my family complained about.
4.9
Beautiful property with great views and lots of space. Loved our stay and hope to be back!

Very nice house. Beautiful view. Very roomy and comfortable. Nice decks with rocking chairs. We would stay there again.

The house has amazing view during the day, and a great view of the sunset. The house was incredibly clean and it felt like we were staying at our family's home. Host was great with communication as well. Highly recommended for a family getaway, with lots of hiking nearby!
4.9
A great location, beautiful views, luxurious living spaces - this place has it all! Highly recommend for families and small groups.
4.9
It had lots of rooms, baths, family and kid areas. Easy location. Beautiful views from the huge deck.
4.9
Perfect couple of days in the mountains! Great location, very clean, everything about staying here was easy and perfect. Could not get better views.
4.9
Our family enjoyed the beautiful views and was able to spread out and enjoy our stay in this lovely cabin. All the comforts of home are provided by the owner. Just a wonderful way to get away and relax with family. Upstairs did lean toward being warm but our weather was perfect to cool it down by opening a window. No complaints.

The house is everything you see in the pics and more. It’s exceptionally clean, very beautifully appointed, and has a 180 degree view that is spectacular. Although it was just the two of us, the layout of this home is perfect for 2 couples with full masters on separate floors, with plenty of beds and play space for the kids downstairs. The home is conveniently located, equidistant between Beech Mountain and Banner Elk. Lots of great dining options nearby as well as many outdoor activities (or just sit on the deck, read a book and enjoy the view!).

Great property in a great location with wonderful view. We were a larger group with three generations of adults. The lower level family room and deck were nice as they provided extra space from the main living area for folks to get a little quiet time. Having a master with en-suite on the main floor was nice for our older family members who did not have to use the stairs. Hot tub was not working which was a big disappointment since it was one of our top desired features. Great place

Loved the stay. We had a blast visiting Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock, and even over to Tennessee for excursions and this location was central to all of them. Weather was gorgeous so the home not having A/C was no issue at all.
4.9
We were drawn to the property because of the three king bedrooms. Lots of space for all.
We really enjoyed the excellent view from the deck for morning coffee and evening meals.
The water has a bit of a metallic taste that may be mitigated with the water filter but it was not operating. We would definitely rent this home again.
4.9
Fantastic cabin and hosts, kitchen was well stocked and we loved sitting on the porch, enjoying the view. Our extended family came for a summer mountain getaway. We enjoyed all the nearby hiking including Roan Bald, Elk River Falls, Linville Falls and Gorge, and Grandfather Mountain. We visited in July and I failed to take note the house does NOT have AC. The top floor got pretty toasty during the day. It wasn’t a problem for us, but worth noting if you like a cold room at night.

incredible view. great house. wildlife. amazing weather. everything worked. felt safe with gated entrance. very responsive host. only negative was the loud road noise of trucks grinding up the hill on Hwy 184.
4.9
We had a great time and enjoyed our stay! The house is beautifully decorated, very clean, with fantastic views! There was plenty of room and everything we could ever need. We’d definitely like to stay again!
4.9
The cabin was beautiful and perfect for our group of 6. We enjoyed sitting around the big table each night playing games and hanging out. Was convenient to everything we wanted to do. Will definitely come back in the future!
4.9
Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, the cabin provided a cozy and magical escape.
The attention to detail in the design and decor, along with the stunning views from the large windows, created a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The amenities were excellent, and the outdoor space was perfect for enjoying the serene surroundings.
If you're looking to reconnect with nature and create lasting memories, this is the place for you.

Comfortable home, well stocked kitchen, beautiful views, great location. Host was very responsive. Steep driveway that you have to stack cars in to is tricky if you have comings and goings, but very manageable. Lovely experience

This is an absolutely gorgeous home with a beautiful view. It is well stocked and beautifully decorated. Our family had the most amazing vacation and hope to do it again next year. John is a great host and communicator. You will not be disappointed.

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. We had everything that we needed and more. Would 110% recommend this property. It was in a great location with lots to do. Kitchen was very well equipped and the hot tub was exceptional!!! The furnishings were beautiful. I’m so happy that we chose this cabin for our vacation and look forward to staying here again in the future. Thank you so much!
4.9
This is a very clean and well appointed cabin. We were close enough to Banner Elk to go for lunch, but the cabin was so well outfitted that we didn’t have to. Great views, and the hot tub was very clean. Fireplace was easy to use, and check in was smooth.
4.9
What a great location for a family ski trip! House had great main living room and kitchen area for gathering. Our only complaints would be that 1. It was a little confusing on the # of bedrooms. The listing says both 4 bedrooms and 3 bedrooms. It's really 3 bedrooms as the loft can't be considered a bedroom. 2. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a great, quick stay
4.9
Enjoyed the location and views! Well stocked kitchen and really thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Hot tub was nice.
Okay for our toddler under two but a little less than ideal due to an open stairwell to the basement.
4.9
This is a beautiful house, perfect for Ski Beech, and a wonderful home owner/manager. The only downside is the heating cut on/off too much where house was too cold/too hot and all in our party were sleep deprived because of that.
4.9
This house was amazing and in a great location. Views were amazing. It was the perfect house for our families first time skiing in Sugar Mountain. We will rent this house again.
4.9
Beautiful views, perfect for multiple families and convenient to Sugar and Beech Mtn. The host was super helpful and responsive when we needed anything. Would love to stay here again!

We only spent 1 night at this cabin and booked it on a whim. The house was clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed our short stay. We skied all day and checked in late for the night since we did not want to drive home so late. There are basically 2 identical "master" bedrooms and another room in the basement with a king sized bed and 4 separate twin bunk beds in it. Additionally, there is another bed in the upstairs "nook" next to one of the masters. There is also plenty of living area both upstairs and downstairs and a hot tub on the spacious outdoor area. Overall I would recommend staying here, it has great amenities and was very clean all around.
4.9
We spent 4+ hours trying to get into the gate. On our welcome email or the VRBO website did not give us access code to gate. We were only give the door code. Owner has no way to get in touch in case of an emergency? And Vrbo didn’t even have the gate code. So our 1st night was spent in a best western hotel. We Would like a days refund and not a 1 hour late check out which we did not use anyways. Once we got inside everything was nice, a lil old but nice all around.
4.9
Our family had a lovely Thanksgiving at this property. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The house was clean and comfortable. My only hesitation would be for families with small children. A lot of doors have been removed for easier passageway (I assume), and there is a steep staircase down to the basement. Our kids are older, so it was not a problem for us, but if you have toddlers, I would recommend bringing a gate.
4.9
The Longview cabin is a beautiful cabin with easy access from the main road. I love that it is in a gated neighborhood. This cabin literally has everything you need including a starter supply of laundry and dishwasher detergent. John responded quickly to messages. The main level ceiling fan rattles and John was made aware of this issue. We plan to return again in the future. We even got to see some deer while exploring outside the cabin!
4.9
Great property! The views are amazing and location is secluded but near enough to restaurants and grocery store. Enjoyed hiking in a nearby park and sitting on the porch to relax. The hot tub was great and house had all items needed for cooking. The gas fireplace was frequently used as well. Would highly recommend a stay at this property.
