About this house rental
Hansel Haven
Registration Certificate Number (RCN): 018376
Max Occupancy: 9
NOTE: Our home was unavailable for rent from May'22 through Oct'24 as we were using it fulltime thus you will not find Reviews during that timeframe.
This is our 2nd home that we've decided to make available on a small scale - as such, you will find that Hansel Haven has everything you need for a relaxed and luxurious vacation. Welcome!
Enter through the airlock front door into our inviting great room. The common area has new hardwood, leather sofa and chairs that envelop you, a wood burning stove with a river rock surround (wood provided), and a beamed open ceiling. The kitchen is tiled floor and fully appointed with microwave, ceramic glass top stove, the world's quietest dishwasher and all the cooking utensils and small appliances you could ever need. There is breakfast bar seating for 3 and a massive dining room table with seating for 12.
The Master suite is on the main level with plush carpet. It has a wonderful Eastern King with a down comforter and supreme spreads. There is a private bath with dual sinks and shower, walk in closet, and a large private deck overlooking Prosser mountain. The deck has a gas BBQ and 4 bar style chairs to sit and have drinks while taking in the stunning view of Prosser mountain!
Also on the main level is the inside laundry room with washer and gas dryer. You will find a number of games and extra linens on the shelves within the laundry room.
Just off the common area you will find the 2nd full bath complete with tub/shower combination.
The stairs up take you to the oversized loft. Here you’ll find a game table, library, Roku, TV, and THEATER. The theater consists of a high-definition projector, a drop down 120" screen, and full surround sound. Bring your favorite Blu-ray movies and sit back and enjoy after a long day. You'll enjoy sitting on the massive leather sectional (our kids prefer to sleep here versus in beds!). There are 2 additional twin mattress behind the sectional sofa that can be used for addtional sleeping. The loft deck has a supreme view of the adjacent Tahoe National Forest with Prosser Hill in the distance.
The stairs down from the main level lead to two additional bedrooms. The “Bear room” has the queen bed, a large closet and access to the lower deck. The “Moose room” sleeps four with a double bed, twin bed, and a slide-out trundle under the double. A full bath with shower is adjacent to the lower bedrooms. The lower level can also be accessed through the 3-car garage.
The home is equipped with an elevator that can be used for a small fee. This must be arranged in advance. Please contact us if needed.
Hansel Haven is also perfectly located. We are on Hansel Ave very near the intersection of Landeau Lane. We back to the open forest with a slight downslope which gives us wonderful views and awesome winter sledding for the kids. Only a few steps to the Hansel trailhead that connects to the Tahoe Donner hiking trails. Hansel Haven is 1/4 mile from the Trout Creek Recreation Center and the Tahoe Donner Golf course. At the Rec Center, you will find 2 pools, 3 hot tubs, two workout rooms, a sauna and steam room. Adjacent to the Rec Center is the Golf course, driving range, and a wonderful nature trail.
Need more Recreation? Donner Lake is 3 miles away. Prosser, Stampede and Boca Lakes all have fishing and boating as well and are about 4 miles east. In addition to Tahoe Donner’s hiking and biking trails, the entire national forest is at your disposal (maps are in the kitchen). Horseback riding? The equestrian center is 2 miles away. Skiing? Tahoe Donner Downhill and X-country centers are about 2 miles. Depending on traffic you can reach North Star, Squaw, Alpine, Boreal, and Sugar Bowl in about 15-30 minutes.
Truckee boasts a score of diverse restaurants, many are award-winning. In addition, Truckee has many quaint shops where you can spend your time considering local art, fashions, and collectibles. A guide on the kitchen counter gives more specific ideas for activities in the area.
So make yourself at home. Hansel Haven is a great place to figure out what you want to do on your Tahoe/Truckee vacation.

Two families stayed at this property and the layout was perfect and worked really well for all of us!
Bob was very responsive to all my questions, and the house had everything we needed.
Beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed for making big dinners. The ability to extend the dining table was awesome for our big party!
And of course the kids had a blast building a snowman and sledding out the back of the house!
It was the perfect weekend! Thanks Bob!

We had a wonderful stay at Hansel Haven! The cabin is spacious, clean, and nicely appointed. There is skiing close by and the backyard had is awesome for snow play. At night we watched movies and played board games in the spacious loft. The host was very accommodating and communicative both before and during our stay.

Plenty of space with a great view. Driveway is tight for large trucks. Overall great place very clean, roomy, and well stocked with kitchen and bath needs. We were there during a heat wave so additional fans for sleeping areas would be nice. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cabin. We had a great time.

Wonderful mix of nature and convenience. Close to walking trails. Enjoyed feeling like we were in the mountains, but not too far to enjoy Lake Tahoe.

This was such an awesome experience for me and my family. The Cabin was absolutely beautiful, clean and stocked with almost everything. The teens Totally took over the theater loft and enjoyed having their own space. We had a blast playing Cards Against Humanity every night as a huge family. We will definitely be coming back❤

Excellent choice in Tahoe Donner. Listing is exactly as advertised. Very warm and welcoming 3 story cabin with amazing mountain views. Well equipped kitchen and the movie room is a nice feature for family time/movie night. Hiking trails right outside you door and access to rec facilities, golf and Donner Lake. Would certainly recommend this property for a perfect getaway, if you are looking for peace and quite in the mountains in a beautiful home.

My family really enjoyed staying here! Minutes from the Donner Ski slope. Wonderful, huge backyard for sledding. Stunning views of nature on all 3 porches in the back and one on the front! The home was welcoming, comfortable, and had plenty of space for people to spread out and wonderful common spaces.

We had such an amazing time staying at the Hansel House! Everyone enjoyed everything about this home, it was clean, well stocked and has such a good “homey” vibe. The sledding in the backyard was a lot of fun for everyone, the yard is huge and kept the kids entertained playing in the snow all day. The loft with the projector was a big hit and made movie night even more special. The kitchen is well stocked, plenty of board games, toiletries and towels. The balconies were nice to have coffee..or wine in the evening..we had an awesome view of the full moon one night. We look forward to returning to the Hansel home and plan to stay longer next time!! We were not ready to leave!! Thank you so much!!

We had a nice stay! Beautiful all around with nice, detailed decor, and great communication. Only thing- had to buy a blow dryer! Old style, cabinet feel. Quite opposite to the modern style we have at our more modest home in the East Bay :).

We had a great time at this property. The kids enjoyed the loft area. The sledding hill in the backyard was perfect. Bob was very responsive with any question we had.

We were two families looking for a mini vacation. The property met all our expectations. The sled run on the side of the house provided hours of fun for both the adults and the kids. The theater on the loft was amazing as well. We lacked for nothing. It was fun and relaxing. Bob was very helpful and responsive whenever we had a question or concern. The only thing we had a little trouble with was trying to maneuver the cars into the driveway as there was snow/ice and it is a bit of a slope. But Bob let us use the shovels and ice melts so we were able to get around it.

We especially loved the big yard for sledding and playing in the snow. The theater was really fun.
