About this house rental
Our home is steps from Pebble Beach which provides great access to snorkeling, hiking and is perfectly located to explore the Big Island of Hawaii. You will have exclusive use of a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, 2 car garage house in the Kona Paradise Subdivision, 25 miles south of Kona. The home is located at the bottom of Kaohe Road, 150 yards from Pebble Beach. It is an easy, non-exerting walk (both directions) to your own private, community beach.
You can hear the whales calling (in season) and the waves cascading onto the pebble shore. We have splendid views of the ocean and the mountains from the house and lanai.
Our expansive wrap-around lanai is the perfect place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze, sip a delicious cup of Kona or Kau coffee, check your email and eat a delicious papaya after awaking to the birds chirping and the beautiful hillside beckoning a morning hike. This is paradise!
Our 2-story home is clean and spacious with an open floor plan. It is three bedrooms, two baths with the living room, dining room, lanai, and kitchen on the upper floor and the garage below. The spacious master bedroom has its own sliding door onto the lanai, a plush pillow-top king size bed, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, and full wall of windows facing the southern view and lanai. The house has been professionally furnished from the Stanley Coastal Living Resort Collection, Pottery Barn & Pottery Barn Kids. The sunlit guest bedroom features a pillow-top queen bed and shares a full bathroom with the third bedroom, containing two twin beds. All bedrooms, the living room and lanai have ceiling fans. The house is not air-conditioned; however, all windows are screened, there are two sliding doors onto the lanai, and plenty of ocean and mountain breezes. The expansive covered lanai (15' x 30') is easily accessed off of the living room and the master suite. You will find fantastic views and an enjoyable patio dining table and chairs to enjoy quiet mornings or sunset dinners. A new Weber grill is available for your use in the garage.
The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, hot water kettle, rice cooker, waffle maker and baking pans. The house is on a water catchment system. Please read “rules and policies” for more information.
We are located 25 miles south of Kona and 32 miles south of the airport, off of Highway 11. It is a beautiful, lush and scenic drive past quaint towns and coffee farms. Pebble Beach is a tiny walk from our door. It is a private community, small black pebble beach that offers hiking trail access, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and diving access. We are also close to Ho'okeena Beach, Pu-uhonua o Honaunau (aka Place of Refuge) and fantastic Two Steps (Snorkeling), The Painted Church, and Kealakekua Bay (Capt Cook Monument). Volcano National Park is 70 miles to the south with great hiking and views.
You will love it here. Come enjoy the paradise!

We enjoyed our stay! Lovely views, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, strong fans in the bedrooms were all appreciated!

This was an amazing property. It was away from the cities, but had all the amenities make our stay very enjoyable. The views were amazing.

This property is great. The walk to the beach is short and pleasant. It was a perfect home base for our exploration of this island.
Because of the water retention system, you will be asked to take very short showers and will not be able to use the laundry. But we adapted quickly and enjoyed our stay.

This is a great property. The location is amazing given that you know what to expect. Located in the Captain Cook area, it wont be the closest if you want to golf or do other similar activities every day. However, you get such an amazing & quiet experience. If you want a beach to swim with barely anyone around, great hikes nearby, coffee farms and the Volcano Park closer than if you stayed around Kona, this might be the place for you.
4.6
The location is far enough away from the resort type stuff and perfect for a relaxing get away. We recommend Minehune coffee, and Da Poke Shack, South Kona Fruit Stand was amazing as well. We saw amazing sunsets right off the deck of the house!

Open floor plan, well stocked kitchen, and ocean views. Easy walk to Pebble Beach. Clean and bright. No A/C but ceiling fans.

We loved our stay here on the Big Island. The views were beyond amazing from the house and on our drives. We were just a short walk away to the shore, and really enjoyed the breathtaking views of the ocean waves. The house was very nice as well. It was very clean. The only things we weren’t prepared for was the steep drive down to the house, not having a/c, and not having a washer/dryer. It was also quite a drive to everything we needed. However, these things did not affect the wonderful time our family had here. We actually learned these things are common on the island. We just want the next traveler to be aware. We highly recommend staying here and enjoying that gorgeous view! And wish we had more time to enjoy this beautiful island! ❤️

View and beach were wonderful! Always a nice breeze from the deck. Definitely a nice find.

Kona is the perfect place to enjoy Hawaii the way it should be! Still a bit rustic and full of locals. (Not overran with resorts and tons of people all on top of each other.)The beach is a short walk away and the owner is available via the phone if any needs arise! We had a great time!

We stayed for five days in this very beautiful part of the Big Island. If you're looking for a quiet place to be alone with your thoughts, this is the place for you. The views are impeccable, and the home is spacious, clean, and lovely, but it is isolated and remote. It is far away from most things. It is an hour out of the airport and thirty minutes from the closest supermarket or eating establishment. You would need to rent a car to get here, but be warned, to get to the place, the streets are narrow, and the hills are steep! The car must be put in low gear to go up and down the narrow hill. In addition to that, you must be quiet after nightfall, and they prefer you to turn the lights off for big sky views. The place has a water catchment system, and they require you only take five-minute showers and you're responsible for throwing out your own trash. Despite all these limitations, the overall experience was memorable and we would come back.

Great place, very accurate description. House was clean and details from the owner was very straightforward and simple.
So in terms of the owner and check in, all very excellent.
The house has some mosquitos at dusk, so that was annoying but typical in the area. You won’t escape that in any other house! I just noticed they were more than usual than other places we stayed in Captain Cook, Kona, Hilo, etc. The road is also very steep but just fine in any car, but it’s very steep.
The best thing about this home was the closeness to Pebble Beach. It has everything. Nice snorkeling, plenty of space. The rocks are not kind to bare feet fyi.
Overall this place was excellent and would love to stay again!

Good location. Not oceanfront as pictures would seem to indicate. But fine.
4.6
Quiet out of the way with great views and sunsets. The neighborhood, beach and house are all vertically challenging, so problematic for anyone with mobility issues.

The house was beautiful. Great size, great views. Had everything you needed. Location was perfect. Halfway between things on either side of the island. The host was very easy to communicate with and left great recommendations.

A lovely home with a great location, amenities and setting. Did not receive check-in instructions until I was in the driveway despite many attempts to get them earlier. Also, our family of 6 was charged $150 for emergency water delivery for supposedly using “thousands” of gallons of water in 4 nights. Owner provides no tangible way to monitor or confirm your actual water usage so proceed at your own risk. We were gone every morning by 10 and back after dark and took a combined total of 14 showers. Nothing says relaxing vacation like being called a liar after taking such extreme measures to conserve water in every way. Proceed at your own risk.

Nice quite place to stay with great view. We saw whales one morning from the deck. The beach is cool but not not great for swimming. Access to the house is up a steep flight of stairs. Is difficult for the elderly. Need to be aware that there is no trash pick up.
4.6
Absolutely beautiful view, short walk to a secluded and serene beach. The home is beautifully appointed and comfortable. Easy check in, attentive host and just was a treat to stay.

I was concerned about the water conservation after reading reviews, but our family of five didn’t have any issues. I didn’t like having to haul away our garbage the last day or that there was no laundry or toiletries provided. The quiet of the neighborhood, after you descend a mile on a very steep grade, makes up for it all. We awoke before 5am each day to enjoy the brilliant stars while hearing the waves break on the rocks. I loved listening to the variety of birds. The house is a little warm for this northern girl, but we spent almost all of our down time on the deck which was great. It’s a good 30 minutes to get to the nearest restaurant, or any civilization, but if you’re looking for quiet and beautiful scenery, this is the place to stay.

This lovely home has a beautiful view of the ocean. It is a short walk downhill to the black pebble beach. Check in was easy and house very clean. Kitchen well furnished and the deck is a lovely, breezy place to sit and relax.
The drive down to the property is a steep, winding road!

Absolutely love this place! Location and amenities!! Clean and bright! Island breeze from all rooms!! Highly recommended!

Away from the hustle and bustle (some may consider the area a little remote), which is exactly what I was looking for. Home is well appointed to make guests comfortable. Responsive host. I’m a little more acquainted with the area than some guests may be, so I wasn’t caught off guard by the water conservation requests and trash haul-away. Just wanted to mention it for others that may be. I don’t think I noticed any disclaimers when booking. Otherwise, it’s a great remote retreat.

Only here 2 days, but fit a whole bunch in visited several beaches with white sand black sand and much lava. Went snorkeling with Captain Zodiac. Watched the sun set from the lanai and relaxed. Great location for us.
4.6
The property is overall beautiful and well taken care of. Very clean however parts of the property can be limiting. The water catchment system limits water use which was a large concern especially with a family of 4. Visiting in the summer and a lack of air conditioning was uncomfortable as the temperature was warm and humid. If a different time of year and maybe just adults staying at the home would been a great property.

We loved our stay in this little neighborhood just above pebbles beach. The house was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed to cook meals. For those who want a restful vacation away from all the tourists, this is the place for you. Great communication with host. Recommended!

Wonderful home with everything you need. Pebbles Beach is steps away, perfect for morning swim. Enjoyed our time, we were able to visit a number of areas from this location - Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea visitor center, and the beautiful bays near by/

A truly amazing trip to Hawaii. The house is AMAZING. Understand you are pretty south of a lot of the sandy beaches and Kailua, but the black sand beaches here were very special. We didn't swim at pebble beach but walked down every night. If you don't mind being a little drive away from things, this is the spot to be.

Nothing beats the evening views from this lanai. Very quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. The listing for this property was spot on regarding items in the kitchen, the view, and the rooms. I would return to this neighborhood.
When we booked this place we didn’t realize how restrictive the water use would be. The first night we rinsed our kids off from a day at the beach and drank a few glasses of water. The owner reached out to me and told me we were using too much water and that we would run out before the end of our 5 day stay. (Yes, we took very short showers) The water tank hasn’t been filled before our stay and was at the bottom of the barrel. This created a lot of stress for us. The day we checked out, the owner messaged me to say they had the tank filled the day before and forgot to tell us. Very frustrating.
We also had an issue checking in. The door code wasn’t updated in our booking and I didn’t receive a welcome letter. We spent about an hour outside the house trying to get a hold of the owner and calling VRBO. The owner’s number is not listed on the booking. Fortunately, it all worked out and we made it into the house.
