About this cabin rental
Located in Gatlinburg’s quiet Hemlock Hills area, Standing Bear Lodge is less than a mile from Rocky Top Sports World—great news if you’re in town for an athletic event—and the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Loop. It’s also less than five miles from the attractions of downtown. And there’s plenty to enjoy within the five-bedroom log home itself, from soaking in the outdoor hot tub to playing pool, air hockey, or foosball in the large game room.
Standing Bear Lodge’s five bedrooms, each of which has its own full bathroom, are spread out among the three floors. The downstairs and the main floor each have a bedroom featuring a queen-size bed. The top floor is home to two rooms that sleep four people each in queen-size bunk beds. If you’re staying with a team that’s playing at Rocky Top, these bunk rooms will really come in handy. The fifth bedroom, also upstairs, is the primary suite. Along with a king-size bed, it boasts a fireplace (so romantic!). All five bedrooms have cabin-perfect log-style furniture and a flat-panel TV. And if you have additional guests, the sofas in the great room and the game room open into queen-size beds, so that the lodge can sleep up to eighteen people in all.
We have a feeling any kids in your group—and even some grown-ups!—would be more than happy to sleep in the downstairs game room. There’s something to keep everyone entertained for hours. You can shoot pool at the full-size billiard table, or play foosball or air hockey. The game room has a home-theater area as well, with nine cinema-style chairs and a large screen for watching a movie or a big game.
Up one flight, on the main floor, is the great room and kitchen. With its lustrous wood-planked walls, floor, and ceiling and large windows looking out onto the surrounding woodlands, it’s an inviting, open space. Kick back on the sofa and watch TV, curl up in the armchair with a book or a laptop (Standing Bear Lodge has free WiFi), gather by the stacked-stone fireplace for après-ski drinks: You’ll feel wonderfully at home.
The dining table can seat eight, and there’s room for four more at the kitchen island just a few feet away. The kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, gadgets, and tableware you need to cater for a small crowd—all you have to supply are food and an appetite. There’s a park-style charcoal grill outside as well, for cooking up a barbecue or roasting marshmallows under the stars.
Standing Bear Lodge has two spacious decks with rocking chairs. Listen to wrens and warblers while sipping your morning coffee outside in the morning; let the crickets and tree frogs serenade you at night in the moonlight. You can also revel in the fresh mountain air while luxuriating in the outdoor hot tub. There’s no better way to end an action-packed day than with a leisurely soak among steamy bubbles while the breeze rustles through the trees.
And if it’s action you’re looking for, Standing Bear Lodge is the perfect location. It’s close to just about everything the area has to offer. In no more than fifteen minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Guinness World Records Museum, thrill rides, an aquarium, restaurants, mini golf, shops, and a tram that carries you up to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park. Also close by is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, by bike, on horseback, or by car. Just slightly farther afield is the neighboring town of Pigeon Forge, whose attractions include Dollywood, the Titanic Museum, dinner theaters, and outlet shops.
When you stay at Standing Bear Lodge, you’ll never be bored—whether you’re visiting the local sites or enjoying the amenities of the cabin itself. So what are you waiting for? Book your stay today; we’re looking forward to seeing you.

Plenty activitities for everyone

The facility is nice...great layout. Several basics missing...dust pan, drain plug, hot pads . I called about needing hot pads and was asked if I looked hard enough. Never did get them. The kitchen is really a kitchenette, soooo not too many places to look. Our family was excited to watch a movie in theater area of game room, but remote didn't work....as mentioned in several other reviews. I would recommend having staff stay for a night or two in standingbearlodge, then you'll see what all of the reviewers are talking about.

It was over all comfortable...loved having private bathrooms for each bedroom...cabin needed some touchups;dripping faucets, missing remotes, stovetop only had 2 working burners. The kids enjoyed the game room and we all enjoyed our week together.

Great area and cabin but a ton of things were broken which made enjoying it challenging. Beds were also quite hard. Fridge door was broken, theater room was unusable since the tv/dvd/volume didnt work. No intact pool cues. Broken door knobs. We did not get our moneys worth due to poor maintenance.

Communication with Jackson Homes was great. The second deposit was taken out before I was notified. Wasn’t able to get into the guest portal till after we got to cabin. Need to have someone do trash pickup during the week, we had to take trash off and left lots of trash in kitchen per the email I received. The fireplace in the king suite upstairs did not work.

There were 15 of us, including young 3 kids, from 2 states meeting in the middle for a family vacation. The top bunks would be great for teenagers but were a challenge for most of us to climb into so we had to use the pull out couches and an air mattress. Games and hot tub were a big hit. Kitchen well stocked. No shampoo, conditioner, or soap was provided in the bathrooms. We were there a week and needed to call and have the garbage hauled away after the 2nd day. Make sure to bring extra toilet paper and garbage bags if you have a large group or plan to stay multiple days. Easy check in and out and responsive host. Definitely recommend!

Great property and perfect for our family group of 11. Only complaint is that the living room fireplace did not work. Sent a message and the owner said they would send someone to look at it. But no one showed. But overall great property and would stay again.

Only thing that didn't work for the kids was the air hockey table.
All other games worked well.
We had 17 people total and we really enjoyed our time here.

It was nice
Overall the house was fine. There are a few things that need to be fixed/updated. The upstairs was clean but smelled like pee in the hallway/stairs area. The main floor doors to the deck were both messed up. We could barely open/lock one while the other wasn't usable at all. The refrigerator door moves up and down when opening/closing and all of the outside shelves have cracks in them, so anything heavy on the door shelves would probably make it break completely. The bottom floor had a lot to do. My only complaint is that there is no seating on the deck of the lowest floor, and the pictures make the cabin look much larger then it actually is. I would stay here again!!

Family Vacation
The location to the park and Gatlinburg was great. Wasn’t real thrilled with the cabins being on top of one another. They should collect trash more than once a week with the larger cabins that sleep 18 people. There were quite a few broken things that I feel should be fixed. The smell of animal urine was pretty pungent. There were plenty of cups, plates, silverware and cookware but no cabinet space to store any food. We had to keep everything on the counter. The showers were great and water pressure was perfect. The size of the cabin was perfect for our group. The game room was a life saver for the kids however we couldn’t utilize the theater portion because the internet tv didn’t function properly.

Property as described. We had a great time there. The only problem I had was with the dryer. It took forever to dry your clothes.

Cabin in the Smokies
We had a fun stay and everyone really enjoyed the game room in the basement. The game room was pretty cramped and it would have been impossible for people to be playing pool and foosball at the same time due to how close they were together. I had to call customer service to get my door code because it was not available to me, even within a couple hours of check in. When we arrived the dishwasher was broken and unusable and the hot tub was not even turned on. Again, a call to guest services sent a maintenance person out to check out the dishwasher (was left unusable) and who turned the hot tub on for us. Unfortunately, it was below freezing outside and the water took so long to heat up to a usable temperature that we never ended up getting to use it. Pretty frustrating considering we chose this cabin with the hope and expectation of having a hot tub for our group to use.

Family vacay
The cabin had plenty of room for our 2 families, totaling 11 people. However, the kitchen had almost no storage space for any food (we found 1 cabinet above the stove.) I would also suggest bringing night lights as it is QUITE dark at night.

Relaxing stay
We absolutely loved this cabin. It was very neat and clean. Plenty of room for everyone to hang out together or to have your own personal space. Hot tub was very clean and a great way to kick back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. But I must say my favorite part was the two balconies. I sat out there every morning and drank my coffee and it was so peaceful! The check in and check out process was the easiest I have ever dealt with. Definitely recommend this cabin. Thank you for helping my family and I make some beautiful memories!!

FAMILY GETAWAY
The property overall was as described. Very large bedrooms and nice bedding. We had children with us so intended to cook more than eat out. I would say the kitchen pots/pans need updating. Only 2 very small sauce pans - difficult to make anything in these. The large fry pan has seen better days; no covers to pans. The coffee pot did not work at all; we tried several different ways and it would not brew. It was a very inexpensive pot and needs to be replaced. The hand mixer did not work; one whipper would not even go in & stay so this needs replacement. I noticed on the large rug in living room had all its corners up and it was a trip hazard; as well as the rug in the game room. Please see that these are fixed. The door going out by game room has a large gap along bottom - needs weather stripping. Over all I would say this was a good location and very roomy. Loved that each floor has its own air / heat controls. Just a few spots needed some TLC as mentioned. Thank you for a nice stay.

Very nice cabin!
Had a very nice time in the cabin, it fit myself and 10 others comfortably! The only thing that would have made it better is if all the jets in the hot tub were working.

Expensive Administrative fees
The cabin was very clean. The administrative fees were more than the cost of cabin for 3 nights. Why is damage protection fees not reimbursed if property is left is same condition as arrival? Also need new pots & pans and at least one blow dryer. Just a lesson I learned is preview cost of all fees prior to booking. We had a family of 10 and enjoyed our time together.

Great cabin!
Perfect place for our family to spend the holidays. I almost didn’t book here because there were several negative reviews. But I’m glad I did. This place was great for me and my family. It held 15 of us easily with room to spare. Everything worked, contrary to what the reviews said. We had a blast here. Would totally stay here again

It was clean but the sofas really needs to be upgrade and only three pots very rusty
We did not enjoy the staying we leave and night early because of The sofas not been in good condition and not having pots and pans available to cook on the morning

Bad Back Buyers Remorse
This place, while extremely large, was a letdown. The hot tub did not work. An email sent, went without response. That is UNACCEPTABLE. There were no paper towels? The toilet paper was scarce, to the point that I had to get it to people who were in a restroom without any. The oven was very clean inside. However, the oven door is so filthy you can't see into the oven. The cabin itself has plumbing issues. A shower was taken by my 16 year old. She did get a little water on the floor since there was no bath mat but water was leaking into the lights on the main floor?? There are problems with your cabin.

Family vacation
We love the cabin. It was very clean and plenty of sleeping space for the family. I give it 3 stars because the AC was a problem. It worked on the first floor but not on the second and third floor. This seems to be a trend from looking at other reviews. The electrician said this is no power goin to the units. We were lucky that it cooled off on the last 3 days we were there so we were able to open doors and windows.

No air conditioner and it was HOT!
We called short time after we checked in. Finally talked to someone, couldn't fix AC unit maybe next day, no portables for us to use. People knew was broken before we got there. My family takes time from work and school to go. They offered to put us in different cabin for less days. We had already bought groceries, so we would have to pack and move everything for less days. We stayed, family had taken time off and wouldn't be able to go elsewhere.

Disappointed...Top Floor Smells Like Urine
First, we never received the code to get into the cabin. I sent an email 3 days before our trip, asking about the information, and was told that I would receive it, via email, 24-72 hours before our arrival date. I received an email 2 days later telling me to download an app, and access the information there. I did so, but the app still did not have the information I needed. I finally called the night before our arrival and was given the code.
The cabin is like the description, for the most part. Parking is on an incline, which made it a little more difficult for our elderly guests to access the cabin.
As soon as we opened the door, there was a smell of urine. As I went up to the top floor, the smell got stronger. I purchased some deodorizing spray that night, as well as bulbs for an outdoor lamp that had all bulbs blown. Just a note, there is no can opener, nor plate in the microwave. And, if you use K cups for your coffee, bring your own machine.
That night, I pulled the sheets down and took off the comforter pillows, only to find what appeared to be blood stains on the pillow case.
The next day, the kids were excited to play downstairs. The downstairs is the best part of the cabin. However, there was no foosball to play a game with and the air hokey game seems to have a short in it. Still, we had a lot of fun playing the arcade and pool. Also, the theater seats are actually comfortable and a fun addition.
The view on the porch is pretty nice, as is the hot tub. You can see/hear other cabins through trees, but the trees block most of that.
Our 4th night there was a nightmare. The rain had caused the urine smell to intensify. I was getting complaints of headaches and nausea from upstairs guests. At 3am, that morning, my kids came to me running/crying that something was in their room. There was something squealing, moving around in between the walls. When I knocked on the wall, bats started flying out on the outside. That's why the urine smell is so strong! Bats are living in the walls. The next day, I called and they sent someone out. He said he couldn't smell the urine, because of the deodorizer I used. He said they have had a problem with squirrels, but if there are bats in the walls, they could not do anything about it, because they are protected wildlife. He also said they would probably deep clean the carpet once we left, to help with the smell.
So, if you have always dreamed of sleeping in a bat cave, this may be the cabin for you.
