If your desire is to stay in a smaller 550 sq ft cottage for up to 3 persons – but with all the incredible amenities offered at our estate - then Kope Cottage is for you! All stays here will be EXCLUSIVE - there will be no other guests. Because of the Exclusive nature of or setup here, our larger unit – the Vista Suite will also be available. It sleeps 5 persons and is 1,800 sq ft. The cost of $500/night is the same whether you stay in either Kope Cottage or the Vista Suite. Most guests might wish to choose the larger Vista Suite that offers a full gourmet kitchen with a 4 burner stove top and wall oven, a much larger grill and lanai and closer access to the pool. The cleaning fee is a bit higher at $250 - compared to $150 for Kope Cottage - but all other costs are the same. For more information on our larger 2 bed/2 bath unit – the Vista Suite – please see our other listing at VRBO:
https://www.vrbo.com/276029?
If you plan to stay in the Vista Suite, then please make your booking there.
Please note that our fee of $500/night is for up to 5 persons. Parties of over 5 persons can stay in both places with an extra per night/person charge, an extra cleaning charge plus applicable taxes. Both units combined can sleep up to 8 persons.
Our minimum stay is now 7 nights most months with 2 nights in between guests to allow us to properly clean, sanitize and let the unit air out. Because of this we only offer discounts on stays of 28 nights or longer at a 20% discount.
Parties staying in Kope Cottage will have 24/7 access to the entire huge deck/pool area on the upper level. The pool, deck, hot tub and grounds will be exclusive to the unit. The gym is available to guests with some restrictions.
Aloha and welcome to Kona View Estate, a 3 Acre Luxury Vacation Rental Property comfortably nestled on the slopes of Hualalai overlooking Kailua-Kona. We are a working, award winning coffee farm a (4th in 2018!) and we look forward to sharing our passion for coffee farming, processing and roasting. For those interested - we offer a unique learning experience - Agricultural Tourism in luxury and privacy.
The entire estate has been completely remodeled and updated with top-of-the-line appliances. In 2019 Endless Pools installed a Fastlane device in our pool and it is now available for guests to use. There is a hot tub in a private location that offers the same stunning views as the rest of the estate.
We have a high-tech roasting shack to house our state-of-the-art coffee roaster. We look forward to sharing this experience with you - balanced between art and science.
We are located comfortably "up country" in the midst of the famous Kona Coffee belt. It is usually 5-8 degrees cooler up here with the gentle breeze that comes off the mountain day or night providing an ideal temperature.
Kope Cottage is outfitted with 2 twin beds that may be made up separately or joined together to make a king size bed. There is a queen size pull out couch in the living room. This pull out has been upgraded to accept a full 8” thick mattress instead of the customary 4” mattress. The bed is comfortable even for a full size adult. The kitchen has an induction style hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, blender, rice cooker and an assortment of spices. There is a Weber grill on the lanai.
Because we live on property as a hosted rental - If any problems arise we are here 24/7 to help, make recommendations, give directions etc, but we tend to keep a low profile and do not use any amenities while guests are in residence.
We are looking forward to sharing the powerful energy of this mountain retreat balanced by the outstanding views of the Pacific Ocean. This is a place of rejuvenation, relaxation, power and growth and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Wonderful stay on Kona coffee estate
The cottage was perfect. Stocked with everything needed and the view from the porch set the mood for a great start and end to each day. Landlords live on property was a plus with very helpful recommendations for activities and dinning. Coffee cultivation and roasting demonstration a rewarding additional benefit. Highly recommend property.

Perfect getaway with stunning views
We wanted to stay a little off the center of Kona and found this amazing house. We stayed in the Kobe cottage. The views and the pool are amazing. Everything provided that you can think of and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Can fully recommend staying in this gem. Had an amazing stay!!!

Most beautiful sunsets
Atsumi and Randall are wonderful hosts. The house is situated to have wonderful sunsets and out of the hustle of the town of Kona. The combination of coffee farm, quiet facilities and the opportunity to learn about physical exercise techniques like Gyrotonics is unique. Atsumi is a master of improving health through muscle work that is much different than typical weight lifting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

A beautiful and relaxing vacation!
We had an amazing time here. Randy and Atsumi were wonderful hosts and we thanks them for sharing their stories and their coffee with us. Everything about this place is wonderful, from the incredible views to the sounds of the wildlife at night. I only wish we'd had more time to spend here, but we will definitely come back if we find ourselves on the Big Island again. Mahalo!

A great quiet and serene stay. Randy and Atsumi were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed a lot of time on the private lanai enjoying the view and the quiet privacy of the cottage. We spent a lot of time exploring the island, so being a little ways from more touristy area of Alii Drive was of no concern for us. The bed could use a mattress topper to improve its comfort, but otherwise the space was perfect for our stay.

Contentement in paradise
I could go on and on, but I'll keep it simple. It exceeded expectations.
We spent three weeks of contentment in this paradise. Randel & Atsumi were beyond fabulous hosts. Truly a tropical paradise.

Amazing place
We loved the cottage from the first moment. We enjoyed the awesome views, the incredible infinity pool and the sunsets from the hot tub. Thanks to Atsumi and Randy for sharing this place and the coffee and the papayas and the oranges,... and for the roasting instruction. We would like to come back!

Beautiful and peaceful with lots of amenities
The property is amazing! My husband and son and I enjoyed the early morning and sunsets on the patio of the cottage. The house is well-appointed and beautifully maintained and the pool is gorgeous. Randy and Atsumi were wonderful hosts and even offered to help when we had a mixup with our rental car. I would love to go back!

Fabulous on the Big Island!
The cottage is in a wonderful location above Kona with amazing views of the town and the ocean. It's fully stocked (including a BBQ grill and beach gear), is clean and quiet. Randy was super helpful and available for questions. We had a great time diving and snorkeling, but loved returning to our home away from home.

A little slice of paradise
I read so many stirling reviews about the Kope cottage and Randy's hospitality before we booked our week there. But the actual experience transcends words. What I can tell you is that the entire Kona View Estates seemed somewhat magical, from the stunning vista overlooking Kialua, the gorgeous sunsets spent on the lanai, the evenings being serenaded by the Coquí frogs echoing across the hillside, and the warmth and congeniality of our hosts. All this and the coffee was fantastic, too.
We already dream of going back.
Mahalo, Kona View Estates!

Great location and amenities. Hosts were very friendly and responsive.
We had a great time staying at the cottage. It was the perfect home base for our adventures. We loved the coffee setup and being able to grill at night. Our hosts were very friendly, accommodating, and responsive. While we didn't take advantage of the property amenities, they looked great and the place is beautiful.

Incredible views and welcoming hosts
We stayed in the cottage for a week in July. The cottage is located in the middle of the kona coffee belt and therefore is about 10 degrees cooler than the beach. This made it refreshing to come back to after a hot day. The cottage is just like the pictures but with nice little touches that make it very welcoming. For example there are automatic motion sensor lights on the walkway and clothing hooks in the bedroom. We also liked the infinity pool with its views. Each morning we were welcomed to the day with the sound of tropical birds. There are also wild pheasants and turkeys on the property. The hosts also welcomed us to our week's stay with kona coffee that was grown and roasted on the estate. We would definitely recommend the cottage.

Gorgeous views and fantastic coffee
The Kope Cottage is a perfect spot for a couple or small family to stay on the Big Island. We loved waking up to ocean views and sitting on the Lanai with our freshly roasted and brewed Kona coffee. The cottage has everything needed for a great vacation on the island-- well appointed kitchen (including some pantry staples), beach equipment (chairs, umbrella, cooler, some snorkel gear), a quiet environment for sleeping and comfy lounging areas. We loved having access to a pool and hot tub, too. Highly recommended place to stay!

A wonderful, quiet getaway
Kope Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped for everything you will need to enjoy your stay there as well as your trips to the beach. There is a cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and snorkel equipment ready to use. The views and privacy are unsurpassed and Randy and Atsumi are the perfect hosts. They will provide any information or support you may need but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy your private piece of Hawaiian paradise. This rental is best suited to two people...it can get a little tight with three but the Vista Suite is also wonderful for larger groups. The higher elevation means cooler temperatures so do bring a light jacket...something not usually needed in the town of Kailua-Kona. The estate grown coffee is also delicious and available for sale once you go through your complimentary half pound. You can also get a tutorial on coffee roasting which is very interesting.

Breathtaking Views
We enjoyed our time in the cottage. You can't beat the views of Kona from this property. The amenities are impressive with a gorgeous pool and gym. You are provided everything you could need, from a grill to snorkeling equipment. For those looking to stay near Kona, this property shouldn't be overlooked.

Beautiful, Restful, Quite ... You must stay!
Aloha!
If you don't like a crowd during a vacation…this is the place to stay. The minute we saw this online we knew it was the place for us. Randall and Assumi greeted and showed us the Cottage, it’s just the right size for two to four people. We arrived in the evening, so we couldn’t see everything, but when we woke up it was Paradise! The plants, birds, view of the ocean…breathtaking!
We needed nothing, but a little food for our week stay. Randy & Atsumi were the best, bring us coffee our first morning and leaving us a pound of their wonderful coffee from their plantation.
We stayed on the go and when we got back to the Cottage, it was so relaxing, the bed and pillows are so comfortable. Highly recommend!

Kirk and Doye

We stayed in Kona Cottage recently for spring break. This is our first VRBO experience. We fall in love with the cottage and Big Island. It felt like, we are staying at our own house. Randy and Atsumi thought about all the details you can need for a vacation in Hawaii. Lovely Kitchen equipped with everything new looking cooking utensils, spices, cooking oil, sugar, ... We almost had all meals at the house, we shopped at Costco about 10-15 minutes drive. Every meal we had was at our lovely Lanai with a perfect sunset a background of birds singing. Grill was my husband's favorite, spotless clean as the house. I should mention my favorite: flowers at the house and Lanai. This unit has a great privacy, very quite except the nature. I wish we could stayed longer then a week so we could enjoy more Atsumi's spotless Gym, infinity pool and the hot tub. There are million things to do in Big Island. We did Manta diving, snorkeling, Volcano visit, Botanic Garden, Green sand beach, Makalewena beach and more. Definitely we want to go back and stay at Kona Cottage again.

My husband and I stayed at the Kope cottage for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. It was clean, comfortable, and had just about everything we could have imagined needing. It even had a salad spinner! The sunsets were so beautiful from the Lanai that we made a point to be back every evening to watch them. It was so nice to have the grill too, and Atsumi even gave us fresh oranges from the property to juice with the juicer. It was so nice to have the gym on site too, and I even had a gyro tonic session with Atsumi that was really invigorating!
This was a great location for us, and Randy and Atsumi were helpful answering questions we had about places to go and even found a place for my husband to get his hair cut (he has tricky hair!). But if you are a person wanting to be in the midst of all the action, you will want to find a place closer to downtown. The coffee from the property was wonderful, and Randy had all the right equipment to make a proper cup! We bought and took home lots for family as souvenir's.
The photos of the place were good on VRBO, but we honestly thought it looked better and more spacious in person. We were able to find a great lunch spot in Kona, Shiono, and a nice fish market, Umeke's. We will recommend this place to friends and family visiting the big island.

My husband is a coffee roaster so for this trip to Kona I wanted to stay at a plantation. I however need to see the water to really feel like I'm in the islands. This was the perfect blend. You are up in coffee country and yet have an amazing view. The property is gorgeous with exotic plants and scents. The unit is so well equipped, if you love coffee you will be in heaven. :) The owners are just so down to earth and helpful. Wonderful people! We would recommend this unit to anyone wanting an experience that isn't the big hotel vacation. It's great to stay with people who live on the island and have an understanding of the agriculture and businesses. You have the privacy you want, but also your own guides to give ideas. Give this kind of rental a chance, you won't want to go back to hotels. Thanks for everything.

Having previously been to all of the islands and stayed mostly in beachfront resorts, we were looking for a more secluded spot, away from the tourist frenzy and found it at Kope Cottage. The owners, Randy and Atsumi, provide a warm welcome and are available to provide a local perspective on things to do and places to eat. The photos on VRBO accurately reflect the room layout, however, they don't do justice to all the little details that Randy and Atsumi have thought of. Things like fresh flowers and coffee from the property, umbrellas in case it rains, a cooler and ice packs for those foraging expeditions, all sorts of beach gear, and pretty much all the basics in the kitchen to prepare anything you'd like.
The kitchen has a full refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, a large toaster oven, a two-burner hot plate, a rice cooker (even chop sticks), but no oven. This is certainly not a problem since there is a new gas grill on the lanai which we used almost every night. The internet connection is superb, even better than at home and there is a HDTV if you must (we didn't except for the Super Bowl). The cottage has a new HE washer and dryer along with all of the laundry products one could want. Hint: don't pack a lot, you can wash those t-shirts here.
Town and shopping (Safeway, Costco, KTA) are convenient and this is a great base for exploring the island. Volcanoes National Park is a nice day trip as is Hilo over the Saddle Road (which we were surprised to find was one of the best roads on the island). Another plan ahead tip: the Mauna Kea Observatories would be a memorable activity, best experienced when the moon isn't full.
Best of all: either hanging out by the pool and hot tub or coming back at the end of a day of exploring to have that gin and tonic on your private lanai while watching the sun set over Kona and the Pacific Ocean.
