About this cabin rental
Grandma's house is approximately 800 square feet. It has a back bedroom with a queen size bed and its own back door. The adjacent sleeping area has 2 twin beds.. The large living area contains a dining table, 2 couches and a queen size bed and tv. The kitchen is equipped with all kinds of dishes and cooking utensils, and a propane barbecue grill is available for outside cooking. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination and towels and linens are provided. There is a screened in porch on the front of the older part of the house which is shaded by two huge spruce trees. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal or just relax and listen to the creek babble by. Deer and turkey visit the yard often and can be viewed from any window in the house. Adjacent to the house is what we call the bunkhouse. It has one side that was once a one car garage. It is simply used for storage. The other side is mostly being used for storage and has extra beds just in case the need arises. The property has two sheds used primarily for horses, but could offer motorcycle protection as well.
This is a non-smoking home. Friends are welcome to smoke outside. Pets are considered on a case by case basis, and must be approved by owner and/or manager. Pet fee is determined by type and number of pets. It could be less or more than $75.
This home has been recently renovated. While the basic floor plan remains the same, the flooring, wall and ceilings surfaces are all new. Grandma's house is sporting all new roof, windows, blinds, paneling, vinyl and laminate flooring and more. The bathroom has been enlarged and now includes a full size washer and dryer. The little house was already adorably quaint. We hope you will find it even more delightful now. Grandma’s House is available for longer stays November thru April. Send inquiry using unbooked dates to contact host.

House was clean, comfortable and very well stocked.

Property is very private! Very little traffic goes by. Located only a few minutes from Hill City, with a grocery store and shops.
Deer are very frequent and we even seen some big elk in front yard.
Property was perfectly suited for our family of four, but would easily accommodate 6 or more.

The cabin was very close to Hill City, but far enough out of town to be peaceful and quiet. The stargazing at night was amazing. The host was very quick to answer any questions, and the check in and check out was easy. Thanks for the great experience!

This was our second stay at Grandma’s House. It was great again. It had everything we needed, except for a hose to wash our motorcycle. We contacted the property manager, Meghan, and she went above and beyond by bringing us one. All we really asked for was an outdoor spigot for water access. So great! Peaceful and quiet. We had coffee every morning at the front porch.

The description was accurate for the cabin and the setting was perfect for what we wanted. We had 6 of our grandchildren and do an "adventure" every year. We loved hiking behind the cabin, set up a tent for the boys, and had a great time sitting under the stars at night.
Thank you.

This was our first time visiting South Dakota. The house was perfect for the 2 of us and our doggie. The house & property were well maintained, very clean, well stocked, beautiful location, quiet and still close to town (Hill City). The property own communicated very well and was always available to answer questions in a timely manner. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this house to anyone wanting to visit the area. We would DEFINITELY stay here again when we visit in the future. Thank you Cody & "Grandma's House" for the most amazing vacation we have ever had!!

We enjoyed our stay at Grandma’s house. It is a bit off the beaten path and secluded but easily accessible from Hill City and the surrounding attractions. Everything you’d need is provided. We were out and about exploring the area so didn’t actually spend much time relaxing there. Plenty of space for parents & 2 teenagers with room to spare. Nice to have full sized washer & dryer as well as WiFi available. Can tell this place is loved by family!

Exceptional!
This property was exactly as presented with a few extras such as wifi and a site manager who responded to a couple of questions expeditiously. Hill City is the perfect central location for all of the sites in the Black Hills!

Good location for Black Hills adventure
Just outside of Hill City. Nice and quiet and a great starting location for Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Badlands

Beautiful Location
It was a nice cabin in a beautiful location. I only dinged it because WiFi was very slow. If you are traveling with children, please be aware that there are only 2 or 3 channels. However, there are lots of deer families and wild turkeys and even a couple of cats that pass through every morning and evening to provide entertainment.
Beds were extremely comfortable as was the furniture. Kitchen has everything you need. Hiking trails are close and downtown Hill City is only a mile and a half away - though you couldn’t tell because you are far from the main road.
I would not hesitate to return.

Quaint House w/ amazing yard
Such a fun place to stay—perfect for families with kids. Close to all the major sights, but secluded enough to feel like you’re the only ones on vacation.

Relaxing week
The location was excellent. We had plenty of privacy to relax, but Hill City was not very far away so we could go into town for supper or to visit the unique shops.
The house was far enough off the road that any traffic that went by did not bother us at all.
We had everything we needed and the house was clean.
Deer in the yard - very cool.
Jeannie was excellent to work with and we always felt we could contact her easily if we needed to - but we did not need to because all went well.
Cody was very easy to work with also. We had to change our dates and he was very accommodating and helpful.
We will stay again. Wonderful time.

Peaceful and relaxing stay
We had a great stay and I would recommend this place. Jeannie, who takes care of the place, was very friendly and responsive to questions, and even replaced the toaster same day when we discovered it wasn't working. The place was very clean for the most part, but the tub had not been cleaned. The beds need updating and were actually not very comfortable. The description indicated there was internet access, but we were not able to access the internet. However, the beautiful quiet location made up for it. We found the close location to the bike trail especially handy as we were able to bike the trail every day and could zip into town on our bikes whenever we wanted.

Perfect Family Vacation!
Our 5-person family and 2 dogs had a wonderful time at Grandma's House. We loved how peaceful and quiet the area is, yet how close we were to all of the Black Hills attractions. The back porch off one of the bedrooms was a favorite place to read and birdwatch in the mornings and evenings. Just a half mile down the road from the house is the beautiful George S. MIckelson trail. We would be thrilled to stay at this location in the future!

Amazing
It was just as described. Peaceful with deer in the mornings and evenings. Wild turkey, and two adorable ground hogs the kept us entertained down by the creek! We were close to everything yet felt like we were miles away at the cabin! Friendly and easy to work with!!!! We will stay again!

Perfect for a Family
This property has no other houses close by--it is perfect for a family gathering. The creek that runs through is so fun for kids to play in. The house is just as listed--a grandma house. Don't expect anything fancy. It is so close to the fun things to do--Mt. Rushmore, etc. TV and Internet not great, but if you want to get away from all that this is the place to stay.

Great cabin
We really enjoyed our stay. There was a glitch with the check in process and the cabin had not been cleaned upon our arrival. They came right over and cleaned it and paid for us to go have a wonderful meal at the Alpine Inn as a result. They were very apologetic and accommodating and checked with us throughout to be sure we were enjoying our stay so no we had no complaints whatsoever. We would definitely go back the next time we are in the area.

Perfect place to relax and enjoy the Black Hills
Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hill City. A very beautiful property ... cozy house comfortable for all 6 of us. Dinners out on the screened-in-porch.
Also - very easy access to all of the local destinations: Needle’s Hwy, Rushmore, Crzay Horse all about a 20 minute drive away.

Nice and clean
House was super clean and was 10 min down the road to where we needed to be. Very secluded feeling if you like that.... The place had a smell to it and was told to open the windows at night to air it out and it should go away the next day. We just turned on the air (window) and by the following day it was less noticeable. There is a stream out front that the kids liked also.
