About this house rental
This modern cedar-sided home offers comfort and convenience, but it is the peaceful, secluded aura that makes it hard to leave. Nestled into the hills, we are bordered by Forest Service land, which offers endless hiking opportunities. The breeze whistling in the pines truly induces peace and relaxation. The outdoor patio and deck space around the home invite family time or individual rest.
The home, built in 2002, has two levels, with the upper floor including a large master bedroom with glass doors leading to the back deck, large full bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, large family room and dining area. The lower level holds two bedrooms with queen beds, a full bathroom, laundry area, and large family/game room with a wood-burning stove. Five sliding glass doors and large windows offering beautiful views of the Hills are located throughout the home. Spacious rooms give every guest privacy, yet create openness for group activity.
Fully Stocked Kitchen: Guests are welcome to use the modern conveniences of a gas grill, dishwasher, refrigerator, electric stove, coffee-maker, and microwave. Cupboards are stocked with popular seasonings and staples such as coffee, flour and sugar. Cooking utensils, dinnerware, and silverware are all supplied in quantity.
An electric washer and dryer are available for guest usage in the lower level of the home.
Extra Comforts: Each bedroom features a newer queen-size mattress and its own thermostat for individual control. The home has electric heat, and with the shade of the surrounding pines, is very comfortable all summer.

We enjoyed this cabin. It was very conveniently located between the things we wanted to do during our stay. The area around the cabin was quiet and peaceful, which is exactly what we were looking for.
The locks on the doors are not real easy to lock, especially the upper level sliding glass doors which don'treallylock at all. The main door was not the most convenient and is not a deadbolt as indicated in description. Other thing I wasn't thrilled with was decor and items around with christian god references. There are many different religions in this country and rest of world and felt that was inappropriate decor to have in a vrbo listing.

We will rent again when we return.
You can't go wrong with this location and hosts.

Perfect place, centrally located to all of our activities. Beds were nice, the couch and loveseat should be replaced if it were up to me , us fat guys had a heck of a time getting out of them :) floors were pretty squeaky for the sleeping in parties downstairs but it was time to get up anyway right. Thank you for a lovely weekend

The cabin is set in a beautiful and quiet location. We took walks past the cabin on the gravel road and it was very relaxing. The cabin provides all of the amenities that you could ask for and met our hopes / expectations. Three things to consider though as mentioned in previous reviews. The very long gravel road is a bit treacherous at the hairpin turns, especially if another vehicle is approaching. There is no "A/C", a small window unit is in an upstairs bathroom and struggles to cool even that room. There are ceiling fans and a floor fan, but you may want to bring another one. We kept the windows open and that helped a bit at night. The grill is caked in burnt crud, so we had to bake...with no A/C. Aside from those 3 issues, a nice cabin in a gorgeous location.....4 out of 5 stars.

My family and I had a great vacation at this beautiful hills cabin. Convenient location to many attractions, yet isolated up in the hills without close neighbors. Would definitely love to return!

We were very disappointed to arrive and find out by a sticky note that there had been a sewer back up in the basement. We had to leave the basement doors open and a fan on to keep the smell out. The BBQ grill was dirty and had not been maintained. We grill out almost every single day, but was unable to do that at the cabin. Also the master bedroom closet was locked and we had to hang our clothes in the kitchen closet. We will not be a repeat customer!

If you are looking for a quiet cabin away from the hustle and bustle but also still close enough to main attractions, then you found it. We (me, my husband, and four kiddos) definitely enjoyed the peace and quiet for our three day stay.

The cabin was just as described. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The location was perfect! Being close to Pactola Lake was a bonus for our boys to fish! Within 15 minutes to Hill City, Sheridan Lake and about 20-25 minutes to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Sylvan Lake. We would definitely stay here again!

This cabin provided the perfect place to kick back and relax, recharge each evening for our next day of adventure! The location was perfect and quiet. We drove to Badlands, Devil’s Tower, Custer State Park, Deadwood, Mammoth Site, Wind Cave, Rapid City, Loved visiting off season for a change. Recently retired educator here and loved, loved, loved traveling during the school year. Kitchen and baths were well stocked. Thanks for allowing us to use your cabin as our home base for the week.

Beautiful cabin located about 4 miles off the paved road. Good wildlife viewing going in and out, if you don't mind traveling on a gravel road. Location is very convenient for Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and Devils Tower.

Great Stay in the Blackhills
The cabin was great! It was so nice to come back to rest and relaxation after a long day of hiking, sightseeing, and taking in all the sights the area has to offer. Well appointed and clean! Super nice renters! Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful property, beautiful area!
The cabin was in the woods, which we loved. We had plenty of room in their horseshoe shaped driveway for 2 pickups and 2 trailers with side by sides. The trails right from the property were great. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. We had a storm one night while we were there and it was so nice listening to the thunder in the mountains.

Great time in SD
The cottage is lovely, clean and well stocked. Quiet and peaceful place in wooded area. Internet is a bit spotty for a teenager, but enough for grownups. No cellphone reception but understandable considering the location. Otherwise, close to all attractions in the area yet quiet and secluded. Great stay for my hubby and our son. Thank you Kari!

It was OK
I have struggled with writing this review. Being the first customer of the season, I guess I expected a clean cabin. The floor was dirty. I believe the fireplace downstairs blew out it ashes all over the floor. The dust upstairs was very. noticeable.
Then was we got the heat going and the spiders came to life!! Ick! Might want to spray for them. It wasn't just one or two.
But what really turned all of our stomachs was the dishes/pots and pans in the kitchen. EVERY dish needed to be washed with soap (not just rinsed) we seen everything from dryed on eggs, to grease to dried up potatoes etc. EVERY DISH!
The lease is very specific on what needs to be done. We followed it to the letter. Disappointed that we had to clean etc before we could enjoy. We paid alot of money and don't feel we got our money's worth. Might be ok for a group of guys. But us girls had to cean on our vacation!!

Lovely well-stocked cabin in the Black Hills
We had a wonderful time at this location. The neighborhood was wooded, peaceful and very quiet. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife that frequented the property. The only drawback was the travel time to the famous South Dakota sights.
