Great location with easy beach access, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, and peaceful surroundings. Enjoyed the time and would definitely return.

How close it was to the ocean

This is the second time I've stayed at this property and it's really perfect! Very quiet, lots of natural light, and the beach is just steps away. The unit is on the end of the building so you can't see any other houses from the large windows, just dunes and sun. It feels like you have the beach all to yourself. We spent a lot of time just lazing around with the windows and back door open to the ocean, reading books and wandering down to the water whenever we felt like it. The neighborhood is very small and cozy but there are some hidden gem restaurants close by, and if you want a more touristy day out, Seaside is a short drive away. My only note is that the bathrooms are very outdated and the couches in the unit are pretty beat up, some new furniture would really elevate the space.

This two-bedroom unit was comfortable and had modern bathrooms and a nicely updated kitchen. Fantastic location...only 200 yards to the beach!

Very nicely equipped and great location.

Very good experience staying for the first time in Gearhart. The only real complaint was with the TV. We spent a lot of time trying get on cable. We never did get on cable. They need to leave instructions so we can suceed.

We loved the proximity of this home to the beach and to Astoria. It was adequate yet fairly basic and we found it lacked some daily necessities. We'd stay here again if the cost was lowered to reflect what it had to offer. Great experience with Vacasa in terms of communication.

We loved the location but ultimately couldn’t stay in here and left shortly after checking in and found a hotel to stay in. This property was beyond dirty and had an unbearable smell. So much potential to be an amazing place but a huge disappointment in the state that it’s in.

This place has lots of character and is right near the beautiful beach. Nice to sit and look out at the dunes.

Anywhere that we have rented for our anniversary through Vacasa has been stellar and important

Actually this property is exactly what I was looking for - a comfortable place to stay as CLOSE to the beach as possible! The rooms were tidy and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The furnishings were a little tired and the overall unit is old - bathrooms and showers could use an upgrade, but what I was coming for was the beach. The access to the dunes and the beach were excellent. My time here was restorative and just what I needed. Thanks!

Overall we had a nice stay, but there are definitely items that could have improved the condo which will be listed below
Pros: end unit, no buildings between you and the beach, very short walk to the beach. Beach is very clean and soft sand. Overall check -in was easy
Cons: unit is very dated, sheets/bedding are rough, many strangers walk through the yard despite there being a public trail near by, despite cleaning services stating they vacuumed and cleaned we removed a large amount of spiders during our two day stay, difficult to get a hold of anyone even in the number provided, cleaning services were not complete at specified check in time, no beach friendly cups/plates/beach towels for guest use.
Overall this unit has a lot of potential, it is run by Vacasa however so I am Unsure if anyone will make changes. For the price I will likely book at a different location next time

The location of this property is amazing! Proximity to the beach fantastic and we loved the grassy area and short walk. The inside is dated and not the most “kid friendly” as there as sliding glass tables everywhere and slate flooring. However the biggest shortfall was the oven not working and lack of responsiveness from Vacasa (the property management company). We have two very picky eaters and snagged some pizzas and salads to cook at the beach house after a long day in the sun. However the oven never heated up and was broken. We tried every which way possible and even called in for support. Nothing got it working and after spending an hour trying to troubleshoot and 30min getting ahold of the management company to report, we had starving kids, no dinner and wasted food that we couldn’t cook. Management company stated someone would call that night from the area and they would get it fixed in the morning but we never had any calls or contact. We ended up having to drive out and pay for ANOTHER dinner out, late at night, with very hungry tired kids. Overall the location saves this review but the broken kitchen equipment was a huge bummer as we like to cook in and had to pay double for meals as we prepped with ability to use the oven.

Our only regret is we only stayed one night. We will definitely return. It’s clean, great views, well stocked.

Access and view of the ocean was terrific. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked for prepping, cooking and baking including cookbooks! Patio chairs and extra blankets for relaxing out in the patio. Quiet during our entire stay. Gearhart is close to Seaside but offers a much slower pace of vacation life! Walking distance to coffee, bakery and restaurants.

Captain’s Quarters is a phenomenal rental! When we walked in the place was not only beautiful but perfectly clean. And I mean like OCD clean. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could imagine, bathrooms had plenty of towels and soap/shampoo & conditioner, the beds were super comfortable. The sea breeze feels so good through the windows and door. A short walk over the dune to the beach and this place just hit perfection. The location is superior to being in Seaside with all the traffic. This rental is a must and I cannot recommend it enough!

If I’d known I would only see the dunes and grass from the amazing picture windows, I would not have rented here. Some of the furniture needs updating or cleaning but overall it was a decent, clean place. Never could get the tv in the bedroom to work. Would be nice to have instructions for how to use the 4 remotes in the living room. It was nice to not have any houses between you and the beach. Just wish I could’ve seen the waves.

Among the amenities listed was a ‘wood burning fireplace’. We had planned on the ambience of an evening fire but after arrival found that the fireplace was ‘not in working order’. Fine - but then quit advertising it!
Other than that the condo was acceptable - not high end, not bad.

Lovely place, perfect location, great kitchen, nice amenities; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We brought bikes & were able to keep them in the enclosed back patio.
We did accidentally drop & break the brown ceramic bowl. Please let us know how much we need to reimburse you for it; we are so sorry.
Thank you again for a terrific stay.

Captain’s Quarter is a very spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom single-level corner condo with an expansive view of the dune to the beach. The space is perfect, with large windows, a private back patio, a recently renovated large open kitchen, and very convenient floor plan. It is perfectly located in the small beach community of Gearhart, close to the bustle of Seaside, but conveniently removed from it.
The unit, while it has many great features, has a few disadvantages, some of which are easily remedied:
-No curtains or blinds on the doors to the back patio in the bedroom, which have glass in them;
-No plug in or even a real nightstand on one side of the king bed in the main bedroom, also no bedside lamp on that same side.
Other issues are a bit bigger to address:
-the windows in the bedrooms do not open, and while it is entirely safe to sleep with the door to the back patio open for air circulation, not everybody is necessarily comfortable with that;
-while the unit is not advertised as coming with a washer and dryer, there is both there but they are not usable. At this price point and considering that it is a summer beach rental, having a washer and dryer would really make sense…
-the upholstered furniture really has seen better days;
-the slate flooring is somewhat difficult to keep clean, especially with all the sand;
-overall, the unit shows its age (carpet in the bedrooms, dated bathrooms, etc).

When I rented, it said remove linens and start machine if possible. When we arrived, sign on wash machine said it would flood. We were very disappointed and had to find a laundromat. The book on the counter should have directions for use of house which I have always had as I have rented houses before from Vrbo. Also should have direction for laundromat.
The view and wall of windows was great, beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean and practical. Enjoyed rest of our stay.

Family weekend
Our family had a great time. Plenty of space to relax together or separately (two couples and one infant). Quick and easy access to beach. We’re able to frequent McMenamins (2 min walk), Long Beach, and cannon beach to see family.

Great location in Gearhart
I had never stayed in Gearhart before. This was a great location close to the McMenamins Hotel. The place is an end unit condo closest to the beach. You can't see the ocean because of a dune in the way, but you can see the endless sky and hear the ocean. Very short walk over the dune to the ocean.
You can drive on the beach in Gearhart so with my bad knee it was nice to be able to get to the beach with walking through dry sand.
I would come back.

Quiet and Relaxing
Property was just as described. Past posting mentioned heating problems, all was working great. It was nice and toasty You can hear the ocean and if you walk to the end of the fence line you see a portion of it, and if you follow the trail you can be there. Beds were very comfortable and an end unit made it nice, but it was very quiet while we were there. Very happy, nice property!

Exactly What the Doctor Ordered
Peacefulness, super close to the beach, easy to find, and had plenty of room to spread out.

Lovely place
One cannot see the ocean from this rental but can see a stretch of green grass, some low dunes, then endless sky. Also an inviting path that leads to the beach via a 5-minute walk.
Good kitchen and livingroom area, with essentially abwall of windows. Bedrooms and bathrooms not updated in the same way but serviceable. The bedrooms both have glass doors to a fenced back patio. A little awkward that these doors do not have window coverings. One of the bedrooms has a kingsize bed, which is really too large for the room, making it difficult to open the door to the livingroom area. To either side of the bed are nightstands which are inconveniently low to the ground and only one has a lamp. These are no more than inconveniences, though.
This place is lovely. I enjoyed my stay and plan to return.

Beautiful Setting with Beautiful Sunsets
First the negative! I was rather annoyed that this place was advertised as having a fireplace, but was not told, until I had already paid, that I could NOT use the fireplace.
This place has everything a beach loving person could ask for, except a functioning fireplace. The place is very comfortable and nicely laid out with excellent views out towards the Pacific Ocean. The bedrooms are cozy but a bit chilly as the wall heaters is each room are rather useless. The bedrooms are warmed by the heating from the rest of the unit, but that can take a day to finally get them warm. The beds are comfy and extra blankets are available to keep you warm at night. Behind the bedroom, outside, is a nice patio, including a bar-b-que, which could be enjoyed in the Summertime. The kitchen and living area covers the entire back side of the unit with an lot of glass looking out towards the beach. It is lovely to sit in the Living Room area and read while looking out towards the ocean. This unit is part of a long strip of units with plenty of parking on the East side of the building. One of the nice things about this unit is that it is on the very North end of the building giving you just a bit more feel of a stand alone place. There is nothing between this unit and the ocean, and there is a path leading right down to the beach from the front door.
I had a wonderful and very relaxing stay and will very likely return again sometime in the near future.

Perfect Family Retreat
We booked the Captain's Quarters for a holiday retreat on the coast. There were two couples in our group - and that worked perfectly for the rental's two main bedroom configuration. We already love Gearhart OR from past stays at other places, but this property is right off the water nestled in the dunes. You can't see the water just over the grassy dune, but there is nothing else between you and the open coastline. It happened to be windy and stormy during our winter stay. We even got a bit of rare coastal snow - but we were safe and warm with a wood fire the whole time. The expansive windows facing the coast make you feel a part of it all. We spent the week cooking and visiting and cooking some more. The open layout of the common space was perfect for this, and the kitchen well equipped with modern appliances and everything we needed. Our stay was perfect. We will certainly look for a time to return.

A good value
So far my experiences with vacasa have so far exceeded other booking sites that I no longer even use the other options when booking a home rental. The house was clean and well furnished. Beachfront and an easy walk to the beach. The location is very good. I appreciated having things in the house such as a fan to use at night. It could use a few larger pans for cooking such as a pot for spaghetti. Needs a spatula. Everything was good and Eli was very friendly. See you next time!

Great location, accoutrements, access to beach. All positive reviews are accurate. We may stay there again. Great for family vacation. Highlight was the Elk herd that came by the condo within 50 ft. Amazing. Beachwalk is amazing. Well done!

Good location
If you're just focused on location, this is an awesome spot with great potential. However, we had issues with the untold problems (we should have read the old reviews!): (1) The "ocean view" is 100 yards away, (2) the back is garbage-bag filled dump patio that has been "under construction" for years, according to old reviews, (3) the two bedrooms' only windows won't open, so the only way to get fresh air is to open the back doors which connect the bedrooms to the garbage-bag filled patio. There are no screens for the doors, so you have to close them at night, and (4) the washing machine has been broken for years, and the only laundromat is a 10 minute drive away. The owner commented to a review 18 months ago that the amenities don't list a washing machine, but really?? The owners don't know that sand and sea salt make clothes dirty? Other than these issues, the place is fine, but definitely not the worth the price we paid.

Five star property with three star issues
The location is outstanding. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, nice space in front room. BUT, there are a couple of issues. Fix the washing machine please! The one there is broken and apparently has been for a while. Can’t stay past two or three days without one. Major downer. Also, four remotes? Really? There are no instructions on how to use any of them. TV wouldn’t start so we called maintenance. Took him ten minutes to figure it out! Simply type up instructions and put them in the owners manual, which right now is useless. I’d consider washing or changing slip covers in living area, all stained. White not s good idea.
