We've stayed un the Black Hills many times, and this place was special for its location in the woods, with "caves" for the kids to explore, a great covered deck we enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner on (so awesome! ), and a fire ring we used many nights. The upper level includes a nice kitchen and 2 bedrooms which we very nice. The lower level had a great bedroom for the kids, and a bedroom in a more basement feeling/smelling location, with the washer and dryer and water heater sharing the space. But the outside made up for that. It really felt like getting away; we spent more time at the cabin than any we've stayed at before.

Spacious and relaxing cabin. Beds were great. Cabinets had everything you would need (no food products)

Very nice place to stay. Clean, comfortable and easy access to Black Hills attractions.

Great location. The cabin was clean and the firepit was well maintained. Our kids loved to play in the forest behind the cabin. I would book this place again if I return to the Black Hills.

Had a great 2 days. It was close to mount Rushmore and crazy horse. Fell in love with South Dakota and this place was part of it. Very quiet stay and had a deer come right next to the house. We would definitely stay here again.

The house is beautiful and in a great location. Plenty of beds for our party of seven but enough seating in living and dining room. Very clean but need better lighting in bedrooms. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.

The house was perfect for us. The location was close to so many places we wanted to visit. We really enjoyed our 7 nights and would definitely stay again.

We had a four night stay in this beautiful home. The kitchen is well supplied with everything you may need to do your own cooking. Our favorite gathering spot was the covered deck. It was nicely furnished with table and chairs and had a large gas grill. The Master bedroom is very large and the secondary bedrooms are small. We could make this work but it has the potential to be an issue for some adult groups. Our one disappointment was the state of the living room furniture. There was an electric recliner that did not work, a floor lamp that did not work and none of us were able to sit for any length of time on the sofa due to it being uncomfortable. Gratefully, we were outdoors for much of our stay and for the most part enjoyed this home. The location is also great as it sits outside of Custer just a couple of miles. We had great access to the sites of the Black Hills.

Check in and check out we’re super easy. Plenty of room for everyone. Loved the deck for morning coffee. Close to everything we wanted to do. Bonfires at night were relaxing. The big grill on the deck was perfect for dinners. 👍

Beautiful house. Saw Deer just about every day. Our grandson and granddaughter enjoyed climbing the hill back of the house.
Good Location if you want to visit Black Hills, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore and other sights in the area. Custer is only a couple of miles away and some great places to eat. Plenty of shopping.

I hesitate to write a glowing review as I hate for others to occupy this house, however our stay here was magical. We stayed over Christmas 8 people total. The size and quality of the house was fantastic. The scenery was indescribably beautiful. The kitchen was amazingly well outfitted enough for us to prepare a complete turkey and ham Christmas dinner. The price was an astounding value. We hope to utilize this wonderful place again. Thank you RVR staff for a family Christmas that we will always treasure! It was so easy to make this reservation, and questions were answered quickly by the knowledgeable, friendly staff.

We loved the house and property and location from town.
We loved the house and property and location from town. We visited at the end of April, (off season). Overall a great place and great stay, I would say the entertainment system is far more complex than needed for a VRBO. Also watch your head on that front porch light, it scalped me twice. The code that we received to open the front door did not work. I called and left a message with the staff after hours and received a call back in just a few minutes. They gave us a second code and we were in.

Piece and Privacy
This is a great property just a few minutes from Custer but still private and in an area that gives you the natural feel of the Black Hills geology. The house had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable. I will say the entertainment system was far more complex than needed for a vrbo. Also watch that porch lamp at the front door, I smacked my head twice on that thing. Overall this is a great place, We loved it and had a great time here and will definitely return.

Great Location
Enjoyed our stay! So close to all the sights. Nothing like waking up to watching the deer walk right past. The home was perfect. Plenty of room to spread out. I think it was one of our favorite stops on our trip.

It was a nice place overall.
It was a nice place overall. It was nice to be with all of my family in that cabin while we were up in South Dakota Never had to reach out or talk to anyone besides changing the number of guests which they were so nice to help out with.

The property and location were wonderful.
The property and location were wonderful. The basement had a smell of odor like water hadn’t been run in a while causing the line from the washer to have an odor that was way less than pleasant to sleep through.
We loved that we were able to hike outside and were excited when it was cool enough to sip coffee on the amazing deck each morning.
We were a bit disappointed that we were told it came with a garage but it was locked and the key pad code to get the keys were not given to us and did not match the keypad for the front door.
Overall, though, it was a wonderful vacation and we’re glad we chose this home.

Custer Lodging: Evans Dacha
Evans Dacha in Custer, SD is truly in an ideal location for exploring the Black Hills. The home design, cleanliness, and amenities were exactly as described online and met all of our expectations. (2 families, totaling 8 guests)

Wonderful location
Everything was good..didn’t realize there was no central air..the two hot days we ran the window air conditioner from primary bedroom with fan blowing into main room. The 2 lower bedrooms stayed cool.
We never did figure out opener to garage but didn’t need it. We loved the privacy..campfire fire pit was awesome and the kids loved the backyard fort! The kitchen was well stocked. Thx for a great vacation!

This was just an amazing home.
This was just an amazing home. Everything that you would need is in this home. The home's location is centrally located to all the major Black Hills experiences. Absolutely loved the deer feeding every morning and night in the yard. Would sit out on the incredible deck to watch while having our coffee. Was such a tremendous experience. Thank you for sharing your home.

Rental property
Overall we enjoyed our stay, but some improvements could be made to the rental house. 1. A hand rail needs to be installed on the other side of the staircase because the stairs are dangerous where you make the curve going down. 2. More seating needs to be provided in the living room. A hard wooden bench is worthless! 3. The big hole at the edge of the driveway is dangerous and needs flags or cones put around it. 1 & 3 are possible law suits waiting to happen! We did love the serenity of the property. Just a few suggestions before someone gets injured.

Excellent Location and accommodations
Property was as advertised and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The one bedroom downstairs with Queen bed was a little tight but otherwise everything was great!!

We had a great stay and experience.
We had a great stay and experience. The pictures of the home were up to date and accurate. The property is about 1.5 miles down a gravel road. We backed up to the forest and there was plenty of exploring for the kids. We would defiantly stay at this location again. Central and easy to get to all major locations. I made a call for a question and had a prompt return and answer. Very nice individual and knowledgeable. Solved my question in the first response.

It was amazing, we even got a few inches of snow. The temperature went down really quick and as soon as we turned on the heat the house was warm in minutes. Every morning we had visits from the chipmunks and deers. The house was very clean when we checked in. Would love to stay there again. It was a pleasure working with the team, no hiccups!

Rushmore getaway
The cabin is big and beautiful, very clean and the property is wonderful. We saw wildlife every morning . We were about one mile from Rt.16 but felt like we were miles away in the woods but the town of Custer was a 5 minute drive. The location was perfect to visit The major parks and attractions. We highly recommend this beautiful Cabin and will return.

We enjoyed our stay very much our only down fall was we booked through Homeaway, so it cost more and also on the Homeaway listing it has it as wheelchair accessible. My sister is in a wheelchair and had we not had our ATV's with to drive her up to the patio door in the Master Bedroom upstairs to get her in the house it would have been nearly impossible for her to get to the main level of the house. The patio door between the deck and the kitchen isn't big enough to fit the wheelchair through. The biggest bathroom in the Master to get the wheelchair in did not have any thing to hand rails to hold onto for transfer from her chair to the toilet and the large shower doesn't have a seat in it. Even one bedroom on the lower level has a step to get up into it. So if I could make any suggestions with this property it would be to not advertise it as wheelchair accessible. We were able to make it work but another family may not be so lucky. The staff was very prompt to respond to any questions we had.

A beautiful setting, with all the amenities supplied. A short bicycle ride away from the Mickelson Trail. Our group truly enjoyed our quick two day stay at the spacious Evans-Dacha.

Lovely place
The place was very nice. We saw lots of wildlife. Were decently comfortable. Although it's advertised for 8 to 10 people, there are only six chairs at the dining room table. One couch and recliner in the living room, along with an uncomfortable wood bench. So, not enough seating. There are 3 bathrooms, but 2 are within master suites, so really only 1 bathroom for the remainder of the folks. It does advertise that it comes complete with toiletries and there really were none.

Perfect Location and Awesome View Deck
The location is perfect - far enough from town to be quiet and peaceful but close enough to easily get to town and all the area attractions. The covered deck with grill, table/chairs and a lovely view was wonderful. The property is several acres and wooded. The overall feel was of a very nice log cabin - but modernized. Having a washer and dryer was great. A few small but important details should be noted. The bed pillows were old and lumpy with no support. The frying pans were very scratched up and had loose handles. Most of the bath towels felt like sandpaper. Additionally there were some details that you cannot find out until you start booking - these may or may not be important to you. The security deposit options are either $1,500 fully refundable or $67 non-refundable to purchase "insurance". The management company requires you to sign a separate rental contract that states, among other things, that you will be charged $100 if you do not take the trash out to the road on Tuesday night. We initially arrived after a long day of driving on a Tuesday and could not find the trash cans - had to call the property management company. They were very nice and informed me the trash cans were down the road in a small shed at the next intersection - so we did not need to take them out. The informational notebook in the living room did not clarify this. These are small details and did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the property.
