Great place and great location.

We enjoyed our stay at GCC. The house was clean, comfortable, well stocked, and the layout of the house provided the necessary room we needed for two families. The children enjoyed the books, puzzles, and toys. The busy street and the steep driveway was difficult to maneuver at times.
It would be helpful for future guests to receive information on the best way to make use of the Tahoe Donner community amenities. We learned on our last day that a 20.00 wristband per day provided access to two pools, private Donner beach, and boat launch.

Property was super accommodating and very well equipped
I will definitely consider returning

This is a nice home with enough room for 2 families. The check-in process was easy and we liked that there was plenty of space for 2 vehicles in the garage. One comment - there were so many light switches, and it would have been helpful if they were labeled. Not a huge deal but would be a nice touch.
Other pros: Spacious living room with high ceilings AND a separate office with a door; 2 full baths that each had a tub and shower; bunk room was great for kids; close to everything in Truckee and a short drive to ski resorts; kitchen had a good variety of spices and basics. Plenty of linens and some fun books and games for guests to use!
Cons: didn't love the shower in the main upstairs bathroom (it was difficult to change the height positioning and only offers one spray pattern); fixtures definitely had wear and tear; there was only body wash supplied in the upstairs bath (no shampoo or conditioner) and even then the pump to the body wash was broken; no hair dryer in the upstairs bath. Also, there's a cut out window in the primary bedroom that does not have a glass. This meant noise from the living room downstairs could be heard in the bedroom and also provided no privacy in the bedroom. The light from the living room also shines directly through this window into the bedroom. A strange design that made the bedroom more like a loft.
Overall a good stay and a comfortable home, but some details that could turn this house from good to great!

Great house with plenty of space. Owners even had extra borrowable snow clothes for small children, tons of books, and a few games. Back would be good for sledding, but we didnt have much snow. Master is nice. There is a bathroom between 2 bedrooms. They have many extra linens. There are tvs in the living room and study areas. Owners leave helpful notes around the house. That drive is extremely steep, which the owner is very clear about. The road it is on is busy, so pro is it gets plowed, con you hear the plow at 3am. Its a good rental.

The house has wonderful views— gorgeous windows. Beds were very comfortable. Outdoor patio was very relaxing. Spacious sitting areas for large families. We loved our five night stay— many happy memories.
FYI— two bedrooms are connected by a bathroom. If you love to cook, please bring all essential basics, example cooking oil, specific spices, etc. TV, and remotes are rather finicky.

My family & I were very comfortable staying at the property. The Scenery around the cabin were breathtaking.
Overall, it is a great property for a family of 5 to stay at, and highly recommended.
One take, families with large SUV's the curved uphill driveway is a bit tricky to maneuver.
This property gets 5 starts & we will stay there again next time we are in the area.

Very enjoyable accommodations in Tahoe!
This was our family's first trip to Tahoe in the summer. We had a very enjoyable time and found the accommodations to meet our needs very well. Lots of room and very airy and open. Really enjoyed sitting in the back yard. The kitchen was excellent for our needs!

Wonderful house with better than average appointments
We really like this property, it’s our second stay and we’re already thinking “we need to come back!”
It’s more space than we actually need for the three of us, but we’ve learned how to spread out and enjoy.
We’re overly ambitious cooks and this is the best equipped kitchen in a rental we’ve come across, but you still might need to bring some specialty items if needed (we missed our food processor for example).
The host is wonderfully communicative and easy to work with.
Thanks for the second wonderful stay!

Excellent host communication
We were unable to stay at this beautiful home due to severe weather and road closures. However, I cannot comment enough about the kind and thorough communication we experienced with the host, Gayle.
Gayle was there every step of the way as we tried to navigate the uncertainty of travel, and worked with us and her other guests to coordinate re-booking. We look forward to working with Gayle in the future and staying in this beautiful home.
ps - I cannot accurately give a rating on the first three items since we never stayed in the home, however I couldn't leave anything blank and our entire experience was definitely 5-star service.

Family Reunion
The property and home were beautiful. Just like in the photos. Only drawback was making that U-turn to get into the driveway.

Beautiful home with great amenities
Booking process was super easy and good communication with Gayle, the owner. Conveniently located but close to main road, so some traffic noise. Spacious, well appointed and comfortable, with wonderful mattresses on both queen and king beds. The kids loved the toys in the bunkroom. Short drive to the lake. Steep driveway a bit of a challenge to turn around at top but very doable when backed into. Wish the master bedroom had shutters on open area to main living room to block out noise and light, which wouldn't be a problem if you don't to to bed early before the others. Overall loved the house and would definitely go back again.

Exceptional property and host
We recently sold our TD property after 10 years and have been renting here and there in TD for our (too few) ski trips this season, so we come with both some owner experience and some rental experience, and our takeaway is this...
This is not at typical rental property, nor even a typical TD house -- this is well above an average TD house and in the top tiers of available rentals.
Extremely well maintained throughout with modern appliances and kitchen, combined with vintage and thoughtful touches makes for luxurious mountain retreat.
The guidance and instructions provided in email and throughout the house left no stone unturned -- everything is spelled out clearly, all you have to do is get out, come back and enjoy...
Something we hope to do again soon

We were so pleased to have found Gayle's Northwoods house for a recent stay last minute stay in Tahoe. Booking process: super easy and very quick communication. Location: super convenient! Donner is conveniently located to many ski resorts and one of our kids was able to take a lesson at Tahoe Donner which is literally a 6 minute drive from the house. My husband went to Northstar, just 25 minutes away. Lots of convenient stores nearby in Truckee and easy access from freeway. House: Spacious, super clean and very comfortable. Nicel decorated. There is a large great room with a gas fireplace, comfy sofas, and a very nice office/den that one of my kids and i used for remote school/work. Kitchen is well appointed, great pots for cooking, large fridge, tons of counter space, new appliances. Bedrooms are all upstairs, very comfy beds with nice linens and bright windows with great views. Clean bathrooms with plenty of privacy. Kitchen opens up to a very large backyward / open space. Kids had a blast playing in snow. We've rented many properties in Tahoe over the years and this is one I will definitely come back to. The owner was extremely easy to communicate with and super accommodating. Most important feature was how clean the house was which we loved. Note: you definitely need AWD or 4WD during the winter if there is snow on the ground or ice. And follow instructions on how to get up driveway (make u-turn and turn left into drive way). You'll need some momentum if there is snow or ice, driveway is a bit steep.

Overall we had a good stay, loved the woods at the back and the space and decor in the house. The driveway was a challenge, and we had cars loaded with bikes, and given the curve and steepness, we had scraping of the hitch/rack a few times, and getting in and out of the house had to be well thought out. The bed itself (at least the one I slept in) was not comfortable and had a lot of motion transfer if partner was moving. However given we stayed only two nights, I was ok with less sleep. A longer stay would not have worked well with getting rest. Maybe getting a newer mattress would help. Kids had a blast playing in the woods - which was safe and lot of space; and that's one of the favorite part of their stay. We had a great time going on the bike trails - had to drive to the parking lot for the trail head. The house is well stocked with good quality furniture/dishes and everything needed for a good stay. Overall I recommend this place.

Wonderful home, the only drawback is the driveway and that is a tad worrisome coming in and out.

Great house, great location, great for kids!
This house looks awesome in the pictures and looks even better in person. It fit our party of 8 (including 4 children) really well and the kids enjoyed watching movies and playing games in the den - this was a huge bonus as the den could be closed off with its french doors and this was great separation for the adults trying to get in some quiet reading time. The other bonus is this house's location - right off Northwoods which was plowed during the storm while we were there. Some reviews mention the driveway being steep, but this was not an issue for us. We had no bumper scrapes and one of our cars was even a Subaru sedan. Overall the house was well-appointed, classy, cozy, and clean. Gayle, the owner, was very attentive and easy to reach as we had random questions about the TV. We would love to stay there again!

Great house in Tahoe Donner
We had a great stay in this wonderful home. The layout worked well with young kids - all bedrooms are on the second floor, so easy to hang out downstairs post bedtime and convenient for middle of the night wake ups. Great backyard and access to nature walking, and privacy from neighbors. We look forward to returning again!

Luxurious and spacious Tahoe retreat
The house was perfect for two families of four. We had more than enough space and enjoyed all the high-end touches. The house is modern, clean, and boasts every amenity. It is conveniently located near Truckee in a residential area. The kids loved the bunk beds, board games, and playing in the snow in the woods behind the house. The adults loved the well-appointed kitchen, gas fireplace, comfy leather sofas, and plush beds. The one drawback is the steep driveway--which was covered in snow and ice when we arrived and impossible to get up without chains. You also have to pull into the driveway from a heavily trafficked road and on a curve, so it was pretty dangerous at night in winter conditions. The owner discloses this detail so I wouldn't knock a star off for it, but something to be aware of when renting this house. Even knowing that, we would definitely return.

Great place for a ski weekend
We stayed here over MLK weekend with another family and had a great time. It was the perfect spot to rest up after a long day of hitting the slopes, sitting by the fireplace, playing games with the family, and enjoying a hot beverage. Our kids loved the bunk beds and had a blast with their friends. It's also super close to a quieter local ski hill, Truckee Donner Downhill, when the lines into the bigger resorts were crazy. Only slight drawback was that with all the snow, it was a bit hard to identify from the road and tough to pull into a steep driveway. But it only made us want to stay in more and enjoy the great place.
