Just ten minutes south of the historic village of Mendocino and only 3 minutes south of the movie-famed Heritage House Inn, TIDEPOOL is a unique cliff-top oceanfront retreat – a spacious 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home perched 100 feet above scenic Whitesboro Cove. Its angular box design, beamed ceilings, and redwood interior and exterior are reminiscent of the Sea Ranch architectural style. A veritable sixty foot wraparound floor-to-ceiling wall of glass, spanning the living and sun rooms, immerses you in the panoramic sweep of the rugged Albion Headlands whitewater coastline, Whitesboro Cove, and the Pacific Ocean. Sit inside or outside on the wind-sheltered deck or in the hot tub at eye level with soaring osprey, pelicans, hawks, and gulls and enjoy the nonstop procession of ocean swells crashing into the rocks below. The pelicans and osprey hover all day long above the cove, crashdiving into the water for the local sushi. During their seasonal migrations, you'll experience the parade of spouts, fins and flukes of Pacific gray whales.
The Master bedroom loft (king bed & half bath) and its oversized North facing window offer a picture perfect view of the crashing waves without even having to lift your head from the pillow and a private cozy deck to enjoy the sun or your own private view of the stars. The 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms on the first floor (queen bed and 2 twin-XL's configurable as a King mattress) are located down the hall from the galley kitchen. The downstairs Master bedroom suite features its own recently remodeled bathroom with an oversized tiled shower and bench combo with bar-holds for safety. A formal dining room comfortably seats six to eight and the Franklin fireplace compliments any meal. While dining, enjoy the pre-recorded keyboard selections on the Yamaha Electric Clavinova or the musicians amongst you can make your own music on the Clavinova and Electric Vibraphone.
Stretch out in the paired Scandinavian leather recliners in the privacy of the all-cedar-and-glass Lindal sunroom and listen to your favorite music while meditating upon the ever-changing panoramic ocean, coastal, and bay vistas. No matter the weather outside, it’s always comfy inside because of the house’s central heating. With a cozy fire burning in the wood stove, enjoy the spectacular ocean sunsets and the grazing and winged wildlife while ensconced upon the living room’s comfy leather sofas. Both the living room and upstairs master bedroom feature a Bose audio and 55-inch HDTV entertainment center fed by Roku set-top box with complimentary Youtube TV(55 TV channels) including HBO, Showtime movie channels. DVD player. iPod docking cable to stereo.
Like an oceanfront oasis, your privacy is assured – located at the end of a cul-de-sac; TIDEPOOL is part of a private, GATED road just two minutes south of the Ledford House Restaurant and Albion River Restaurant, two great dining experiences on the coast. Nearby, the quaint town of Albion offers everything you need for your much-needed retreat, and the Albion Flats Cafe, just 3 minutes North, cooks up the best budget-priced breakfasts on the North Coast while offering a surrealistic view from below the last remaining wooden trestle bridge on CA Highway One. Although there is NO BEACH ACCESS from our cliff top property, you can enjoy stopping off at Van Damme Beach in Little River or Big River Beach in Mendocino during your ten minute drive into Mendocino.
35+ Mbps broadband Internet connection and WiFi is available anywhere in the house so bring your tablets, laptops, and Roku devices to stream your favorite video entertainment. Roku's provided if you want to login to your streaming services.

We had great communication with owner prior to stay, and the house was clean and comfortable. The views from the living room and deck are as spectacular as the photos! We had daily visits from deer and foxes. A great place to come back to after visiting parks, Mendocino Botanical Gardens, and a lovely place to wake up to sea breezes.

We loved staying at Tidepool and hope we can go back. The view is fantastic and the wildlife puts on quite the show. The home is very cozy and you have everything you need. We really enjoyed watching the foxes. They were so much fun to watch. They seem to be friends with the skunks we saw too. Thank you Howard for sharing your wonderful home with us!

I agree with everything that’s been previously written. The spa (hot tub) was wonderful after being out and about for the day. Ms Foxy came by twice and I swear she smiled at us! We spent hours just watching the buzzards and ravens. Beds were very comfortable snd the safety bars in the shower were perfect, though my friend said the shower sprayer didn’t quite reach when sitting on the bench. Roku TV. Wifi was great. Howard checked that all was well. Great place to unwind and just…..be.

We spent 5 nights at the beautiful property. You really can’t beat the view from the living room/sun room. Process was easy and the house had everything we needed.

Three birthdays, 30, 70, 100 = 200! Perfect, just perfect.

We love this place. Very quiet and peaceful. Excellent host. We will be back.

I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland and this is exactly what I aspire to see…. Sitting in a warm cozy home, looking out at the sea and cliffs. The house is in an amazing spot on a cliff overlooking an inlet land and open sea… the view is 180’ from almost everywhere in the house. Floor to ceiling windows give you the feeling you are on a cruise ship. The house is warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need to relax and recharge! The owner is attentive and informative….we use vacation rentals at least 3 to 5 times a year and this is the absolute best we have ever had and will definitely be returning on an annual basis.

The view is just amazing! We had some sunshine, torrential downpours, a thunderstorm and a power outage (there are lanterns provided). The ocean was just incredible to watch through it all. Howard is so good at communicating-we had issues with the Wi-Fi and he helped me get it back up. Any questions, he was quick to respond. The house is large and comfortable, but just know that it is an older house. We will definitely rent again if in the area.

Clean, comfortable, well-furnished home with a stunning view of the coast.

People hike all up and down the Mendocino coast to take photos of the coastline. Here, we could just watch it all day long. Accommodations might be a little dated but the scenery makes up for that and more. Best of all, was enjoying the last of the daylight in the hot tub every day as the sun went down and the sky changed through every color of the rainbow.
4.9
The pictures are incredibly accurate. The place is large for a couple, but waking up to the ocean vistas was amazing. Also, the foxes regularly sunned themselves on the deck and the deer grazed every morning. It was lovely. The beds were comfortable and looked new. The heating was powerful and efficient.
It felt like you were staying at your cool uncle’s vacation home complete with ready access to streaming services, as well as, recommendations for food and activities. Howard was communicative and very helpful.
Tips for area: buy gas in Cloverdale or Fort Bragg as it is cheaper; and the volunteer in the Ford House is a wealth of information about the history of the area and has trail maps. Howard’s restaurant recommendations were all good. Please note that hours were mostly Wednesday through Sunday in late October to early November, so plan accordingly. Frankie’s and Flow had friendly staff and were often open when others were not.
Have told all of our California friends about this wondrous place and would return in a heart beat.

Fantastic view and great location to Mendocino, fort bragg and beaches! Would recommend. Love the neighborhood

180° view with super comfortable seating

Howard the owner was extremely helpful before and during our visit. Home was very clean, equipment and has many special features we did not expect like a full on audio system. We will definitely return next year if possible.

We had a great stay. Fun to watch the wildlife right out the window - deer, skunk, birds, bats & foxes. Howard is the best; very responsive to all communication.
We hope we are able to return soon

Talk about location, location, location! Judging only by the view on this place we wouldn't doubt for a second to live here. The most beautiful sunset and sunrises ever. In just 3 days we enjoyed whales, foxes, deer, and more right from the back porch. The house was designed with all this in mind and has two living rooms with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy nature from there. The drive in is a dream, through lush forest with tons of ancient, humongous trees. Just north of this property is Mendocino, a little town to die for, with fantastic cuisine, art, and gorgeous views. In the house, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. Any shortcomings on the house itself, will be overridden by the fantastic views! Definitively a must see.
4.9
Everything was perfect. The deer and foxes were a definite highlight. The only issue was a slightly confusing hot tub user interface, but we got it all to work. The 60F degree weather was the perfect escape from 110F Las Vegas
4.9
The location, view and wildlife were amazing! The beds were very comfortable as was the furniture in the family room. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The two issues we experienced were that the hot tub was broken until our 3rd day and then the jet button was still not working and the bathroom and kitchen cupboards really needed cleaning out.
4.9
The house was wonderful, but honestly, nothing special. The view, though. Wow. And the hot tub, also wow. What was a real special treat for us were the families of deer and the five baby foxes that frolicked in the yard every day. It really made us feel like we were far from civilization. But we weren't we were minutes from activities and wineries and such. We hope to stay there again.
4.9
Although the house was large for two people we wanted a house with a great view to celebrate our anniversary. The house did not disappoint. The host was amazing. He provided all of the information needed before asking. He had great suggestions for activities. The house was amazing! The views spectacular and the house had everything we needed. Cannot wait to bring the kids next time.

Such a great weekend getaway

Absolutely Fabulous views! Fox, deer, vultures swooping along our windows, hot tubbing in the fog, all made for a wonderful visit! Host was above and beyond accommodating. Thanks!

This was the perfect place to stay with easy access to nearby Mendocino and Ft Bragg. Very quiet location with fantastic views of the ocean and a lot of wildlife to watch just outside the home. The hot tub was an added treat. The loft bedroom was perfect for waking up and immediately seeing the beautiful landscape. Highly recommend.

We loved this location and will return. Great hot tub. Excellent views. Comfortable beds. Terrific spot for our group of five friends. We enjoyed Mother Nature’s display of wild flowers, foxes and birds.
4.9
We had a great visit at this vacation home. The house is super comfortable, with a wonderful hot tub, beautiful yard, and close up view of the Pacific. The home had everything we needed and is in a great location, near Mendocino. We really enjoyed ourselves.
4.9
We were delighted to spend time on this wild and beautiful piece of the Mendocino coast. The house is lovely and charming. Our little one loved the musical instruments and kids books, and we all enjoyed watching for wildlife during breakfast as well as some spectacular stargazing at night.
4.9
Beautiful view and property. Very comfortable house that really makes one not want to leave to see all of the other sites this area has to visit. Wonderful dining and excellent hiking trails nearby.
4.9
Beautiful setting and comfortable house!

Loved this home so much. The view is unbelievable, the house was very comfortable, had everything we needed. Perfect ocean getaway!
4.9
This was the perfect house for us so close to High Point University. Keep in mind, there is no dishwasher here, but we didn't mind doing our dishes. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. I'm looking forward to returning for some baseball games and using the back yard area.
4.9
We came to get away for our 30th anniversary. Very quiet and cozy. Watched whales, birds and hugh waves. The stars were beautiful. We will definitely try to come back.
4.9
We had an amazing long weekend at the property. Great views, nice hot tub, cool musical instruments. So nice to sit by the fire at night. Our host was very helpful! Would highly recommend.
4.9
We had such a lovely, lovely time--quiet, clean, peaceful, spectacular setting. We cannot wait to come back. Howard was very responsive to our questions and the house was perfect for us. Definitely "Big Sur 1970", but we found it charming and just right for us. The hot tub and setting was simply fantastic. Wonderful place!
