About this house rental
Just 3.2 miles from Stowe's historic down-town shops and restaurants and set back off one of Stowe's most scenic country (paved) roads in Sterling Valley is the "Stagecoach House". Welcoming you as you pull in the driveway is a split-rail fenced front yard with stone walled perennial gardens and shale-stone fire pit. Just up the cobblestone walkway, you’re covered by a hand jointed hemlock post & beam style front farmers porch. Here, you're invited to drop your bags, relax, take in the sights and smells of the Green Mountains while taking a seat in one of the welcoming Adirondack chairs. As you enter the front door you're greeted by a slate entrance way that features built-in bench seating, coat hooks and cubbies that keep your hats, gloves, ski helmets and gear organized for outdoor activities. You realize right away that the property is owner-managed and extremely well cared for. It is exceptionally clean, well appointed and ready for your arrival. The first floor entrance opens to an airy and well-lit open-concept living area with fine furnishings, artful mountain decor, personal touches of the owner and wide-pine flooring throughout. Left off the entrance is a comfortable, cozy den, set up for sleeping additional guests or entertaining the kids with movies and shows on a 50” Samsung flatscreen Smart TV. An antique desk provides an Apple docking station and laser printer, all supported with high speed internet access should last-minute business needs arise. Opposite the den is a half bath with stone counter and tasteful decor. The fully equipped u-shaped kitchen features granite counter tops, a suite of premium appliances including a Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher, Viking Professional series range and double door refrigerator/freezer with ice and filtered water. Mountain-theme stoneware and utensils along with a full quiver of Calphalon cutlery and cookware fully equip the kitchen for any meal. All necessary kitchen appliances and tools at the ready along with ingredients, spices and cooking oils. Fondue pots, plates and color coded forks fully complete the Switzerland in Vermont mountain town experience! Just past the kitchen, the home opens to an open-concept first-floor living area. Dual sliding doors let a dramatic scenery and views of the Worcester mountain range into the home. The sliders open to a private back deck that seemingly sits amongst the tree-tops. On the deck is a large country picnic table, perfect for summer meals off the accompanying Weber Summit Series gas grill. Back inside, the interior dining area features a custom handmade Amish farm table of reclaimed barn board with generous seating for eight. The adjoining breakfast bar provides additional seating for two. Adjacent the dining area is the primary living area with comfortable full-grain leather couch, ergonomic leather chair, 55” Samsung Smart TV, DVD and SONOS wireless sound system. Opposite the entertainment and perched on a bluestone hearth is a Danish Morso wood burning stove with ambiance-enriching glass doors. After a huge day on the mountain; crack a Heady Topper from the Alchemist Brewery and feel a dense heat radiate from a monstrous antique saw blade mounted to the wall behind the wood stove. Now that is epic! Heading up the Red Birch staircase to the second floor, are two large bedrooms and a full bath. At right is a spacious bedroom with one queen bed and two twin beds. Ideal for sleeping children and an accompanying Au Pair. At left is the spacious master bedroom with king bed built-in bookcases and reading nook. Furnishings include a comfy futon couch and LL Bean futon chair. Both bedrooms have native Vermont wide-pine wood flooring, comfortable bedding and plenty of guest-dedicated space to unpack your travel bags. The second floor bathroom has a tile floor, soaking tub/shower enclosure and plenty of fresh towels. The finished lower level of the property greatly expands the living area with a third 65” Sony flatscreen Smart TV, soapstone wet bar, custom stone chimney with gas fireplace, ledge bar, Tiki Toss (ring toss game), dart board and Stiga ping pong table. The lower ground-level space features open and airy double casement crank-out windows. Additional natural light comes from a 3/4 light exterior door that balances bountiful natural light in the space with patina barn board accents complimenting soapstone counter surfaces and antiques. An integrated custom-built queen size Murphey bed transforms the lower level entertainment space into a fully contained and private guest-suite accommodation. Also on the lower level is a luxurious spa bathroom with radiant heat tile floor, custom walk-in tile shower, double sink vanity and 2-person traditional steam Havaria sauna. Across from the spa bath is a dedicated laundry room with modern LG front-loading washer & dryer and counter-top folding station. The home is sneakily impressive with amenities and personal touches. Nobody is bored and everyone is comfortable! Just short minutes and 2.2 miles from the local grocery store, 3.2 miles to historic down town Stowe and 9 miles to the legendary Stowe Mountain Resort. The property is very close proximity to attractions including golf, fine dining, mountain or road biking, hiking, fly-fishing, spas, breweries and off-piste ski touring in Sterling Valley. This is our second time staying in Jon's home. It is even better than the pictures show. The kitchen has everything you need and it's always very clean. Our kids love the games that are available. The host is very easy to communicate with and you will truly have everything you need in this home away from home. We won't hesitate to book again!

The Stagecoach home offers quiet, comfort, and relaxation after a busy day in the Stowe/Waterbury area. Our family of four was very impressed with the property’s proximity to everything from major attractions, restaurants, outdoor activities, and necessities (grocery store, five minutes away).
Communication with the owner was excellent. Everything from entry to operations was covered in detail. This is truly a lovely home and great for small- to mid-size families.

Our family had a lovely stay at Jonathan's place. Everything was as described and then some. The house is well appointed and very comfortable. You'll find more than just the basics here! There's enough space for some independence (if you want it) or convening as a group. The ping pong table was a huge hit with the kids and adults alike! Everything was clean and tidy, and the location is minutes from everything Stowe village offers. We would definitely stay again!

Jon's place was very cozy, quaint and a great getaway spot for a family vacation in Vermont. Their property had a sense of seclusion, yet conveniently located just a short drive from Stowe. If you ski or snowboard, it's a perfect place to return to after a day on the mountain with plenty of accommodations open to feel like you're back at home.
Jon was very receptive and communicative when we had any questions during our stay. We had no doubt that if we ran into any issues, Jon would be on top of it.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of Vermont.

This house is beautiful and updated. It is decorated warmly, and the view all around is gorgeous. The rooms are very spacious. It is in close proximity to many stores and the ski slopes are only about 15 minutes away. We loved our time there!

We were in Stowe for a long weekend with our French Bulldog. The property was beautiful, immaculate, showcasing the spirit and the beauty of the Green Mountains. It had all the comforts of home: comfortable beds, fluffy pillows, plenty of towels, extra blankets, essential kitchen supplies, outdoor fire pit and numerous kind gestures such as teas, coffee pods, extra toiletries, and travel brochures. Looking forward to returning next year.

We were in town for a wedding, and needed a place to stay with our dog. This was a perfect spot - clean, comfortable, and quiet with all the amenities, plus conveniently close to town. Not only is there a spacious first and second floor, but the finished basement adds another dimension especially if an extended group is visiting.

My husband and I and our three kids (ages 10, 7, and 4) stayed here for a week at the end of the summer for a break from life before the hustle and bustle of autumn began. I cannot say enough wonderful things. The house is cozy but spacious, allowing everyone to have their own space. The listing is exactly as is posted, but better. It's an easy drive into Stowe but removed just enough to feel secluded. As guests, you really feel taken care of in the details. There's nothing you could need that wasn't available. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked. There were games the kids could play and they loved our night of s'mores by the fire. If you have even smaller ones, the closet was full of any item you'd need for babies or toddlers. The host was easy to get a hold of and responsive to a quick question I had. The only negative thing I can say is that there was a great deal of stuff in the fridge and freezer making it a little difficult to put in our items. But seriously, that's the only negative thing that I can come up with.
My husband is from Vermont so we've started making this an annual trip for our family and this is the best home we've stayed in. Our kids immediately told me to stop looking and book here again. Thank you so much for your hospitality and making your home our home away from home.

Everything was terrific. Host was absolutely outstanding. Only thing would be a bit more parking and a bigger lawn back and front if you have dogs. A bit close to the road for dogs but otherwise private and would highly recommend.

We had a really nice stay at the Sterling Valley New Englander. The location was great as it is very close to the village of Stowe and all the activities the area has to offer. The home is well stocked with everything you will need for your stay. After a long day of hiking and visiting the many breweries in the area, it was nice to come back and relax by the outdoor firepit or play darts and ping pong in the basement. If ever back in this area, we would definitely stay again.

We had a great time during our week in the area around Stowe. The home was beautiful, well-stocked, spacious, and in a quiet area, but still within minutes of downtown Stowe. It was also close to many great hiking locations and waterfalls. Jonathan was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Vermont and this property was fantastic!

This is an incredible property with access to great walks, a firepit for making smores and placea for everyone to be in the house. Close to Stowe and the Ben and Jerry's factory, and dont forget the cider donuts at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. The Von Trapp lodge and brewery are also close by, and we took day trips to Tanglewood and Burlington as well. Awesome place!

We are four seasoned adults enjoying a shop, ski and spa week in Stowe and this house was perfect for all. The house provided everything we needed and more and was very easy to access all of our activities with an easy drive everywhere.

We loved the setting of this property with no other houses in sight and nestled in the trees yet only 20 minutes from the slopes. The lower level really helped since we had a couple teenagers with us. Only one full bath made it a little challenging but not really a big deal. When we arrived the freezer was nearly full making it difficult to find space for the frozen items we brought. All in all this is a great property and we would stay here again and can highly recommend this home to anyone looking to vacation at Stowe.

Jonathan suggested some great trails and was available if we had a question (although we did not have that many). Thank you, Jonathan, for letting us stay at your place and allowing us to bring our dog! Happy New Year!

This rental was perfect! Loved the house and the location-close enough yet far enough away. Very peaceful setting. A well equipped kitchen has everything you need, the furnishings are top notch, very comfortable beds, an entryway to keep all your outdoor equipment/shoes organized, even an 'if you forgot anything basket' in the bathroom. Very clean all-around. Jonathan was extremely responsive. We will definitely keep this rental in mind for our future visits to Stowe.

We traveled all over New England for a month and our stay at Jonathans place was by far the best! Stowe is such a beautiful area and there is so much to do. Jonathan recommended hiking places and restaurants for us and all were amazing. The Stowe bike path, local hikes, and farmers market were our favorite things on the trip. The house was perfect. The furniture was cozy and comfortable, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for someone like us who likes to shop for natural organic and do all your own cooking. We enjoyed the firepit, and the added bonus of the pool table downstairs. The yard was perfect for our little pup and he felt right at home too. Even though we stayed for 9 days it wasn't enough. Vermont and Jonathan's hospitality spoiled us!

The trip was perfect for us. Family of 4 with dog, with the kids being ages 6 and 3. Had toys, a trail off the property and 3 minute ride to Shaws and 4/5 mins to downtown Stowe. Beds were super comfortable! Great stay!

Charming and Cozy cabin in the woods
Great location a few minutes from downtown Stowe. Stuck in the woods, the deck overlooks the forest. Outdoor fireplace was a cool feature.
Instructions were clear upon arrival (greeted by owner via Ring doorbell). Good hiking suggestions. Dog friendly. Clean house, comfortable beds, easy to use TV and sound system. Awesome stay.

Great trip, great home!
Loved our visit to Stowe. The home was lovely, perfect for our adult group and pet. Fully stocked with linens, kitchen equipment and staples. Great location, easy ride to Stowe quiet trail and rec trail. 15 min ride to Stowe mountain parking. House is on a busy road, but we did not hear road noise from inside the home. Enjoyed the wood stove. Beautiful view out the back of the home. Hope to stay here agai !

Clean, comfortable, close to mountain
Jon's place met all of our expectations in terms of the proximity to Stowe (15 -20 minute drive up the mountain road) and was well maintained for our ski vacation. For those with dogs the woods surrounding the property was great to explore and a nearby recreation field (Stowe recreation path) doubles as an informal dog park in the winter. Highly recommend.

Upscale cabin in the Stowe area
Very comfortable and well appointed home near downtown Stowe. Plenty of room for 4-6 people. Very nice kitchen. We were there in winter during a very cold streak and would like to come back in the fall to enjoy more of the outdoors around the property. Jon was very nice and easy to communicate with. We very much enjoyed our stay. Deborah, Sandy and Minnie "the dog"

Fun Stowe Stay!
We had such a good time visiting Stowe and the surrounding areas. Such beautiful fall scenery and foliage. The cabin was great, very close to Main St and easily accessible yet still felt so secluded. There were only two of us but the cabin can sleep a large family or several visitors. The wood-burning stove was nice to have on at night and watch, just took a little while getting the fire going. Then again, we don't use fireplaces much in FL. We would definitely come back here. The owners were also timely and friendly in their correspondence. Thanks.

Great spot for taking in Stowe
We stayed 10 days in September at Jonathan's place and it proved to be perfect for exploring the town of Stowe and surrounding area. The house was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and we really enjoyed the rustic decor and setting. We especially liked how convenient the Stagecoach house was to all the shopping, dining and recreational activities that Stowe has to offer. It proved to be a great "home away from home" for our first extended visit to Vermont.
