About this house rental
Custom built in 2010, the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is a luxurious 3 bedroom, contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and Vancouver Island's snow-capped mountains.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc, and an internationally recognized landscape architect, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or relax in the living room by an ultra-modern, two-sided wood burning fireplace. In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors, central air, 14-foot ceilings, and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D television, cable, DVD, Internet and Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. The home sleeps six people comfortably in three queen-size beds. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete the experience.
Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves. A star-filled horizon is revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room.
Accessibility:
Bowen Island is a 20-minute, stress-free ferry ride from West Vancouver, via the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Ferries run every hour. Bowen Island is also serviced by water taxis from Horseshoe Bay or Granville Island in downtown Vancouver.
Bowen Island is a small community with everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is also fully wheelchair accessible.
Activities:
Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.
Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkelling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. For those who prefer a slower pace, there is whale watching, bald eagle viewing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, oyster harvesting, golfing at the island's 9-hole course, or the simple pleasure of lounging and reading a good book. Oceanfront walking trails at Cape Roger Curtis are only minutes away. World class alpine skiing is 60 minutes away in Whistler via the Sea to Ski highway.
Bowen Island is also a hub for culture and art. Join in the year-round celebrations or various festivals hosted by the Island's residents. Markets, craft fairs, galleries, and several unique shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else are not to be missed.

Cannot say enough good things about our stay.
The property itself is completely private, with spectacular views overlooking the Salish Sea from the deck, and the floor to ceiling glass windows in the living room. The kitchen and bedrooms were all well appointed, allowing for a seamless arrival.
If Bowen Island is on your travel list then the Boutique Beach House needs to be your home while you are here.

The house is something truly special. The location is absolutely beautiful and very convenient. You can walk directly from there on Mt. Gartner (approx. 1.5 hours), go Kayaking etc. During high tide it is also very nice to go swimming in the sea in front of the house. Views are spectacular. And the house is very well equipped with everything you need.Booking and contact were also very smooth and nice.

Absolutely the best home rental we have ever had the privelage of staying in! You will find high quality and thoughtful details throughout the property. The location and design of this home is such that you constantly feel part of it’s magnificent surroundings. The most exceptional vacation spot on Bowen hands down. We can’t wait to return.

Wow. What a beautiful place. We were thrilled to stay at this beautiful home overlooking a wonderful bay teaming with wildlife. From the deck, we could see seals and sea otters playing and on our final day a pod of orcas swam by breaching along the way. Everything about the home was wonderful from the comfortable beds and linens to the patio furniture and hot tub. We did not want to leave and spent most of the week reading books and enjoying each other’s company, laughing and watching the incredible wildlife. Thank you Abe for the wonderful stay….. we will be back! .

We have stayed in this beautiful home a few times now and absolutely love it there! Gorgeous views, beach access, private and the house is well stocked with everything you would need. Our teens loved the access to the beach and use of the paddle boards. Owners were great to communicate with. We will definitely be back!

We've stayed in many rental properties around the world and this one will always be among our favorites. A literal work of art, the home is seamlessly built into the nature that surrounds it. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer!

We had the fortune to start twice at this property, and the second time was even more magical than the first. This property is just the tonic to unwind and decompress from the worries of the world as you focus on the beauty of nature that envelops you. Can’t wait for our next visit.

This is our second time at this Bowen Island home and it continues to be such a magical place. It's welcoming, private, and with its own ocean access there is every kind of animal to watch and love. Thank you for sharing this special place!

Bowen Island Beach House does not disappoint! From the moment you get out of the car, you know you have arrived at a very special place. You open the door to the house and you are surrounded by nature in every window, ocean, trees and a stunning rock wall .
The House had all the amenities one would need for an awesome vacation. We ate all our meals at the House. The kitchen was functional and well equipped.
Sadly the weather was not great during our stay but that allowed us to enjoy the beautiful wood burning fireplace and have good family time. The big deck equipped with beautiful lounge chairs would be perfect in the sun! Next time.
We are already talking about our next stay, I would not hesitate to recommend this property to my most picky friends! Thank you for a great stay.

We arrived just as the sun was setting beyond the nearby islands, showcasing the panorama that was to be our view for three glorious days. From that very moment we walked into this property, we were captivated by its elegance in design and its sensitivity to its surroundings. What was most impressive was not what it was there, but what was missing: noise. The tranquility was just so amazing that it was hard to remember what being surrounded by the sounds of nature was like. Anyone looking to lower their heart rate and regain their attention, this is the place for you. Light a fire, grab a book, open some wine and just envelope yourself.

Less a vacation rental and more a living art piece set in magnificent nature. The house assumes greater form and varied brilliance each day. Such imagination and planning at work here... and placed in such an epic landscape. The property is a wonder and a gift to the traveler!

We were 2 couples and 2 kids for 5 days, and this house was perfect. Extremely well-appointed with high-end furnishings and views/sunsets to die for. Expansive decks for lounging, easy temperature control with windows/shades/heated floors, and a very private location. The kids had fun on the paddleboards, and the adults had fun lounging and preparing group meals. Couldn't ask for a better place to spend a vacation with friends!

We had an incredible stay at the beach house. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s an amazing location.

Our family of four (2 adults, one 12yr old and one 10yr old) stayed three nights late July ’22 and had a truly wonderful experience. The home is architecturally stunning offering exceptional views. The focal point is Bowen Bay with Vancouver Island in the distance. Wake in the master BR each morning, raise the mechanical shades, and see the corner view surrounding you. We enjoyed our coffee in the comfy bed and snuggled in the crisp open air. The hot tub is just outside the master and that was our kids’ favorite vantage point.
My personal favorite view was sitting on the sectional sofa, staring out the sliding front doors to the natural vertical rock wall covered with moss and vines. The breeze played on the plantlife and it was like a framed piece of art coming to life.
There is not a lot to do on the island so three nights was perfect. I think we explored every beach and cove and hike available. A must see is the Opa tree. It’s 1,000 yrs old and the largest, most alive giant tree we saw on the Coast or in Whistler. Another must see is Bluewater Beach. The snow-capped mtns across the bay feel the closest of any view on the island. We think it’s the best spot to watch the sunset (besides the house). The summer sunsets last over two hours so you have time to explore.
Another great photo op is Cates Bay Beach. It is good for a quick pic with a view similar to the views from the Ferry. Roger Curtis Trail has a nice, short shoreline hike offering a different viewpoint to the South. You can drive from end to end of the island in about 15 to 20 mins so just pic a few and explore. We even shot basketball and played soccer at the community rec center. (We are from NC so every trip must include basketball and soccer right!) It was the most stunning backdrop for sports I’ve ever seen.
We cooked breakfast and lunch every day at the house and we’d recommend the same, saving up to splurge at one of the great restaurants that are just a 10 min drive away. Our favorite was Tuscany. The focaccia appetizer bread was terrific and the Prawn Scampi Spaghetti was one of the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had.
If you like to cook, all of the appliances at the house are top of the line. You’ll have the all of the tools and seasonings you need. I’m out of characters or I’d wrote more about the tombolo out front and the need for chocos when scrambling down the rocks and swimming in the water but I guess I need to leave a few surprises.

My husband and I were looking for a few days away from Vancouver. What we found was a breathtaking place right on the water. The deck is massive and the perfect place to unwind and get some sun. The whirlpool is perfectly placed to give you a spa-like experience, right off your bedroom. We just loved our time away, thank you!
