We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was so cute and provided a comfortable place for us to relax and recharge. The owner was responsive to messages and the check in/out was very simple. We had no issues during our stay. The neighborhood was lovely also. Having the washer and dryer was very convenient for us. My favorite place was the front screened in porch, we also loved the cozy back patio. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

My husband, teenage daughter, and I really enjoyed this beautifully decorated, cozy little house. It’s situated on an equally beautifully landscaped yard amongst a quiet neighborhood. The house is seconds away from the main road which leads to Grand Haven. Even though it’s close to a busy road, there are buildings which buffer the sound of traffic.
The owner, Merle, was quick to respond to messages and inquiries about the property. I made him aware of the ongoing problem with the a/c system (another guest mentioned the same issue in mid July).
I would definitely recommend this property who’s looking for simplicity, coziness, and convenience.

Loved our stay in Spring Lake - such a perfect, low key spot and so close to the action of Grand Haven.

We attended a family wedding in Grand Haven and found this lovely house on VRBO. Everything was exactly like the photos, just like new and very clean. I would highly recommend staying here.❤️

The only thing was we couldn’t control the air unit. Even though we turned air up in temperature it ran constantly. We froze all week.

Three friends returned to Spring Lake/Grand Haven this year. We loved enjoying the enclosed front porch for coffee/cocktails and meals. We spent the evenings there just talking and enjoying each others company. It especially came in handy on Sunday when it rained all day, we never used the living room area. The house was perfect for us and was exactly as listed. Since we do cook and eat some meals in, a few more dish towels and kitchen clothes would have been helpful, but there were plenty of bath towels to go around. Having the washer and dryer is wonderful for doing laundry mid-week. The kitchen floor could have been cleaner (but we did discuss this with the owner when he arrived to do some yard work so that he could address this with his cleaning crew). But everything else was clean and we had no issues. BTW, we loved meeting our host! The beds were very comfortable too and having a house gave us plenty of room to relax. Definitely will come back the next time we head to this area.

We spent the first weekend of the 2023 Coast Guard Festival here -- great cottage, great location, great host! The
cottage is beautifully renovated. There is public access to Spring Lake at the end of the street, a nearby riverfront park with a splash pad for kids, several great restaurants within walking distance, and Grand Haven is just over the bridge. We had excellent communication with the host. We travel to the area at least once a year -- this is the best place we have stayed!

This cottage was beautifully decorated and the inside was well maintained. The deck, and back stairway and driveway was not thoroughly landscaped and there were scattered leaves and tree debris that made it somewhat uncomfortable to enjoy the deck area. There was also no cable and only basic channels on the TV. It is well situated and in a convenient location and close to parks, restaurants and convenience stores. Despite the inconveniences I mentioned, I would definitely consider another stay on my next visit to Spring Lake/Grand Haven.

Property was fine, though, needs new driveway/parking- due to badly broken concrete. Unfortunately, we got locked-out of cottage first night. Owner responded at ~9 p.m., but DID NOT have a key to allow access to the property, front- or back-doors, after all of our belongings were stored inside. We were told that a locksmith could get us into rental the next morning, which happened at ~10 a.m. on 7/15. As a result, we were forced to get local overnight accommodations at the Holiday Inn (HL) at $320/night (receipt available).
In addition, my daughter had an infestation of Bed-bugs, as indicated by "bites" on her leg, obviously from spending time on the front porch or her bed. The owner was personally advised of this on Mon.
I've been waiting for Mr. Peterson to offer a refund for at least the one-night we were unable to access, and perhaps the HL-stay also, which would be the right-thing-to-do, but have not had a response from him, to date. Would definitely like a refund, for at least $500.

Loved our stay in Spring Lake, with easy access to larger Grand Haven but enough great options nearby to not make crossing the bridge a nightly necessity.
Cottage was cute and comfortable for our family of five (two adults, one 7 year old who took the top bunk and twin 3 year olds who shared the bottom, full size bed). Kitchen was well equipped to make multiple meals (only request would be a colander for straining/rinsing) and patio area was a perfect hang out while grilling.
View of the local Uhaul location wasn’t as pretty as the lake of course but just a few houses down we caught a glimpse of the water and the kind neighbor let our kids stick their toes in the sand.
Loved quaint and quiet Spring Lake Beach, the free Trolley system to tour both towns and addictive pretzels from Village Baker. Fuel and Grand Finale were other great, walkable spots for meals and the Spring Lake Splash Pad next to the weekly farmers market was a fast favorite, as was Whistle Stop Park perfectly placed on the paved path (great for walking/running, biking and scootering).
We hope to be back soon!

My daughter & I enjoyed our stay @ this home. Great area to walk to local stores, farmers market or just to explore the shaded green neighborhood. Kitchen with
new stainless appliances. Outside of lacking a colander & cutting board, the kitchen was perfect. Owner/host
very responsive and also working to remedy the smart TV offering.

We have family in Spring Lake, Muskegon, Holland and Middleton. The Dixie cottage was the perfect place for us to stay and visit with them throughout the week. The home is clean, well decorated and equipped. It was so easy and pleasant to stay here. There is a walking trail with a playground not far which was perfect for our nieces and nephews. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and the grill was an added bonus. The host was easy to communicate with, always getting back to me within 5-10 minutes. Will definitely stay here again.

Perfect little cottage
The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated. THe appliances and furnishing all appear to be new. It had all the amenities required for a pleasant stay. The washer/dryer combo was a bonus. It was a 20 minute bike ride to Grand Haven. There are plenty of things' to do in the area such as biking, kayaking, fishing, shopping, dining, bars, and of course the beach. The owner responded quickly to my questions and was very helpful.

Relaxing get away location.
This property is lovely. Clean and beautifully decorated. A great back porch/deck area for coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. Close to nice walking paths. We walked every morning. There are restaurants and bars within walking distance as well.

CLEAN AND SO CUTE
This adorable home was great. We loved that it was close to the lake and we could walk each morning along the path and it was so quiet, even tho close to main road. It was clean and decorated nicely. We had plenty of space for us 4 (all adults, mom and dad plus married daughter and husband). We only wished we could have moved it to right in Grand Haven as we like to walk to the festivities in down town GH. But no complaints since it was just a 5 minute car ride. Thanks to our hosts, the house was wonderful!

Fabulous, newly renovated home
Recently renovated home looks like it just got featured on HGTV. We were pleasantly surprised that the house was on a lovely bike path with a fantastic playground for our toddler.

Great stay!
The house was extremely clean as others have written in their reviews. Very well decorated. The beds were comfortable. Chad was easy to get a hold of for check in and check out. It was an easy drive to Grand Haven beach which we went to almost every day. It was also a short drive to Muskegon and about 30 minutes from Holland. There is a cute little park across the main road for kids to play on. Looks like people may fish there too. There is a bike trail close to the house, we didn’t use it but saw plenty of bikers. The area was safe. Would definitely stay here again!

Great House & Clean!
I rarely write reviews, but I do rely on them… especially for something such as this. The house was great. Very nice and well maintained inside and out & clean! It’s possibly one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed. It looks exactly like the pictures. The owner was very responsive on the couple of questions I asked prior to the trip. We cooked one of our meals there and had all the pots/pans we needed. There was a nice back porch with a grill, but the evenings were a bit cool so we did not use the grill.
As for the location, it is very easy to find. It is close to the Grand Haven boardwalk as mentioned in other reviews, but we didn’t find that there was a great deal to do there. Other reviews said there was so maybe we just missed something?! The boardwalk is very nice though and leads out to a lighthouse and a fairly large beach. Our favorite beach was North Shore Beach which is just a few miles down the road… maybe 5-6 miles (10 min or less drive) from the home- there were restrooms, snack machines, picnic tables & grills I believe as well. About 20 miles down the road was the town of Holland, which has a nice downtown area with lots of little shops and restaurants. We all enjoyed that very much and went back a second time…. Ages 8 to 68! The whole area is very laid back (not a lot of tourist-like attractions). There are blueberry farms everywhere for picking, but we were there just ahead of the peak season so we did not stop to do that, but it may have been fun.
