About this house rental
Fern Hill Lodge is perfect for family & friend gatherings and retreats. Located in the country yet close to two towns, it offers a peaceful setting for connecting and making memories. Parking is limited to 12 or 13 cars so groups over 30 are not feasible. We are not set up for weddings or large parties. There is a minimum of 26 hours between reservations and all rooms are cleaned by a commercial company.
The themed rooms, rustic decor, gourmet kitchen and theater room offer something for everyone. There are 3 levels with beds for up to 24 people. For relaxation, take a walk down to the dock at the one acre fishing pond and catch large mouth bass, blue gill and crappie (be sure to release them, too!). Or take a stroll through the seven acre forest on the other side of the fishing pond. The trees will refresh your spirit and energize your body. It's also relaxing to watch the goldfish swimming around in the smaller pond in front of the house.
Or you might like to watch the sunrise on the 700 square foot covered slate deck along the southeast side of the house overlooking the fishing pond. Experience a surround sound movie in the theater room that will seat 18. Bring your favorite flicks or lots to choose from here.
Bedrooms: the Master Suite has 2 queen beds, walk-in closet, access to the deck outside and 46 inch flat screen TV with satellite service that can swivel to be viewed from the jetted tub. We call the big walk-in slate shower 'the Cave.' You'll love the massaging effect the smooth river rock floor has on your feet. The room has a heated slate floor and double granite vanity with raised copper sinks and waterfall faucets.
The Parlor bedroom is also on the main floor. It is the feminine counterpoint to the rest of the house with quilts, needlework & frillery. It has a king bed and uses the main floor guest bath with tub/shower combo, heated slate floor and raised copper sink with waterfall faucet.
The Loft sports a full size Murphy bed, reading nook with sofa, games, and foosball.
Through the Loft is the Nest, a large room with 4XL twin beds usable as 4 twins or 2 kings. It also has a couch and flat screen TV with satellite and Wii game console. There are some Wii games available but feel free to bring your own. Lots of board games, playing cards, coloring books, puzzles, dice, etc. in the cupboard in the office on the main level.
Downstairs is the Fishing Room with a king bed and its own private bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo. It has an outside door leading to the covered patio for early morning coffee or a soak in the hot tub.
Also downstairs are the Hunting and Cowboy rooms. The Hunting Room has a king bed and also opens out onto the hot tub patio. The Cowboy Room has a queen bed and a set of log bunk beds. It does not open to the outside, perfect for children. These two rooms share a bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo.
The theater room seats 14 in genuine theater chairs and another 4 on two couches. With its 10 foot screen, Blu-ray/DVD player, VHS player, satellite TV, HDMI hook-up for computers and 7.1 surround sound, it's the perfect setup for movie watching or presentations. Complete with popcorn machine & wet bar area with refrigerator and microwave. Sleeps 2 young adults or 4 children on two comfy foldout full-size couches.
The gourmet kitchen includes a six-burner Capital gas range with oven, an electric wall oven, warming drawer, dishwasher, TWO refrigerators, Advantium microwave oven, Keurig coffee maker (bring your K-cups) plus 2 regular coffee makers, cherry cabinets, granite counters, two copper farmhouse sinks, handmade copper hood, pantry, dishes and glassware for 30, two electric griddles, two waffle irons, a rice cooker and a full array of cooking utensils and small appliances.
You'll never want to leave the Great Room with its 25' ceiling, huge log trestle, rustic decor, comfortable leather couches with built-in recliners, and 60 inch flat screen Smart TV with satellite service and Blu-ray player. The room has three levels of lighting: ambient ceiling lights for TV viewing, fan lights for socializing, and reading lamps for, well, reading. It also has a massive real river rock gas fireplace for chilly evenings.
The garage is equipped for exercising with treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and weight machine. A ping pong table makes for fun tournaments! Frisbees, hula hoops, bocci ball, small corn hole set, croquet and horseshoe equipment also available.

An amazing family friendly property. Room for all 22 of us. All the kids caught fish in the lake. Set up a slip n slide in the back yard. Had a movie night with popcorn and treats in the theater. Such a good time and great environment.

BETTER than the VRBO description. Plenty of room, very nice and complete kitchen, two refrigerators, kids enjoyed that foosball and ping pong, adults the work out equipment. It was very warm during our stay, but the A/C provided welcome relief. Absolutely recommend.

This house and property were great for our large group. Big yard to play in, space to walk around and pick blackberries, and we saw deer! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the space fit our, and children’s, needs. Owner was very responsive on a few questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

This home was perfect for our first ever family reunion. It’s not only beautifully decorated, but so spacious, we didn’t feel crowded, even with 24 of us! The bedrooms and bathrooms were roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked, and there was just about every game and activity for everyone! I was concerned that our teens and younger children might be bored, but there was plenty for them to do. We did run low on dishwasher pods. I emailed Polly about it, and she responded immediately to tell me where to find more. Everyone in our group raved about the house and how much fun they had. Our 3 day weekend was over way too quickly! We would love to come back sometime in the future. Thank you Polly, for your attention to all the details.

My family throughly enjoyed our reunion at Fern Hill Lodge! It’s so beautiful, well maintained and spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with all the dishes needed to cook for a large group, and all the cabinets and drawers are labeled with their contents. Plenty of options for areas to hang out as a group. Amazing theater room, hot tub, and the kiddos loved their privacy in The Nest. A lot of great memories were made. We would definitely stay here again!

Breathtaking views! Early morning coffee on the deck to the stars twinkling bright at night, the view was beautiful! The lodge had something for everyone in our family reunion, 24 of us, all ages. Beautiful decor inside and outside. Polly is a fabulous host!! The only problem for us, was not enough time there!!

We had a wonderful family reunion at Fern Hill Lodge. There were plenty of activities to keep us busy on site, but also a great location for a beach day, and lots of other options nearby as well. The property had all the cooking supplies and things we needed to stay busy, and enjoy being with each other. Polly was wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend a stay here!

This property is meticulously maintained and there are helpful labels everywhere so you can find anything you're looking for. We had 20 family members stay for a reunion and we ALL loved it. It is the best VRBO property I have ever stayed at. I enjoyed hanging out with my sisters on the deck. The kids enjoyed 'catch & release' fishing on the pond. The teenagers loved the theater room. Also, dinners were a breeze in a kitchen that has everything. Truly an amazing property!

We are a group of Christian women who get away to Encounter the presence of God and study the Word of God (Holy Bible). We introduce Christ to the women, offer baptism, teach and mentor them. This is a very special time with them. Fern Hill Lodge is so comfortable and accommodating. It is a beautiful property which offers everything we need! Thank you Polly McCrea! We love this house!

Beautiful spot for a work retreat. Quiet and peaceful. Woke up to a beautiful view of the sunrise and birds singing every morning. The house was perfect and if it isn't, Polly will do everything she can to make it right. We had a chirping smoke detector this time and she immediately sent one of her sons out to fix the issue (very nice man). Everything has always been as promised and would definitely use this property again.

We love staying at this property. It's perfect for a larger group, has fun amenities like the theater and lots of space. The common areas are big enough for everyone, but there's places to escape when you need a minute! It's gorgeous, and always well stocked.

Our group had a great time at Fern Hill lodge! The little touches throughout the home and property made it feel welcoming and well-hosted. Plenty of space for our group to spread out and gather. The large kitchen was well-equipped for group meals. We enjoyed games at the dining room table, hot tub soaks under the stars, and peaceful walks down to the fishing pond. Would be even more dreamy to come in the summer- which I hope to do someday!

Property is great and exactly as listed except for renters should be aware that the property sits atop of a steep hill. We couldn’t get up on the first night using 4x4 and chains and saw many cars had slid off the side of the road trying to make it up the roughly 1 mile road to reach the property. We also slid down when we attempted, but luckily we didn’t slide off the road. Similar conditions driving through the rest of the road with cars that slid off (with a steep fall on some portions of the road).
This is likely an uncommon occurrence (not being able to access the property), but the landlord is firm on the no refunds policy. This is fine, however the risk should be explicitly stated to customers as it is a defining characteristic of this property.
The landlord agreed to giving us an additional day to make up for the first one.

My friends and I stayed at this property before a few years ago and we knew we would be back! It is perfect for large gatherings and has plenty of space for 24 people. The house had all the supplies we needed and more for cooking. Polly was very responsive and helpful! We will be back for a third time I am sure :)

My group of 9 lifelong friends were celebrating Milestone birthdays, and a recent retirement, and chose Fern Hill Lodge as our home base for a trip to the Oregon Wine country!
So grateful for the chance to stay in this beautiful, comfortable, luxurious, roomy manor. Plenty of room for our group of 9 people to spread out, relax, and just enjoy being together.
The house came with everything we needed, including such a well appointed kitchen that the personal chef we hired was totally impressed!
Highlights included the hot tub, the decks on the property, the expansive grounds and the walks to the pond, and last but not least, the movie room.
We were able to watch Bugs Bunny cartoons during breakfast down there and also a special video presentation one of our friends put together for the week.
When the chef wasn't there, we took turns cooking meals for each other. The huge dining room table accommodated all of us and we were able to celebrate wonderfully!
Thanks Polly for a lovely home base in Oregon that we all enjoyed. Wish we had booked 2 weeks!

A group of 14 of us stayed at Polly’s to explore Willamette Valley wineries. We were about an hour out from both the winery area as well as a hike along the coast. Loved the property, Polly was very helpful and communicative, and we had a great time!

We booked this property for our 10 yr anniversary party getaway with friends. It felt like staying at our own personal resort lodge. Gorgeous property and so peaceful. Sitting in the hot tub and staring at the stars was magical.
