Enjoyed our holiday at Loreto- the cottage was very warm and welcoming, generally well equipped though crockery limited and no games or books because of COVID restrictions- excellent having 2 bathrooms with a constant supply of hot water. The 2 local pubs which you could walk too, The Highdown Inn Toland and the Red Lion Freshwater, both serve excellent food. The only improvement would be a large smart TV!

We spent a fantastic week at Loreto at the end of September.
We spent a fantastic week at Loreto at the end of September. The house is primely positioned for exploring the west side of the island, and was very homely on the days and evenings we stayed in. Significant care had been given to making the property suitable for visiting during the pandemic, and all of the adjustments were entirely reasonable (e.g. fewer living room throws and cushions because of the additional amount of cleaning required between bookings). I spoke to the owner prior to arrival and she made everything very clear, so there were no surprises in this regard.
There was a bottle of wine waiting for us on our arrival, and that was another very sweet touch that didn't go unnoticed (or un-drunk!). Indoor and outdoor space was plentiful - including a fantastic tiered garden with a summer house for pool/darts - which was perfect for me, my wife, and my dog. We even enjoyed a picnic in the garden despite it being late September, as we were blessed with a week of (mostly) lovely weather! When it got colder, the central heating worked perfectly so no issues there either.
Off-road parking is always appreciated, although my one minor gripe was a deep divot between the steet and the driveway that scraped the underside of my car a few times, so be wary if your car is low to the ground or heavy with luggage! I would also suggest looking along Middleton on Google Maps before arrival, as the driveway entry is quite obscured unless you know exactly where you're aiming for!
I would strongly recommend Loreto to anyone looking to stay in West Wight, particularly if you like nature walks (there are plenty in short driving distance), visiting the beach (<5 mins away), or seeing the tourist sights like The Needles. We're already dreaming of coming back!

We have just had a lovely week at Loreto. A great property in a beautiful location. Near enough to the shops, bars, pubs to be easy; near enough to the countryside to be able to reach the downs in 5 minutes’ walk. And immaculately clean and comfortable too.

On a very quiet road so no traffic noise and only about 10 minutes to walk into Freshwater with all its amenities (pub, supermarket and takeaways) or down to Freshwater Bay. Tennyson Down also walkable in about 10 minutes, or approx 25 minutes to the Monument at the top, with stunning sunset views. Loved the sun deck at the house and the games room. Pleasantly surprised with the size of the 2 single rooms - the whole cottage was very spacious.

Lovely house, light and sunny.
Lovely house, light and sunny. Very well fitted out with everything that you need down to the clothes pegs for the washing line! Everything clean and in good condition. An excellent place to stay.
Very good local new large Co-op supermarket with Island produce made catering easy.
We had mixed weather including violent winds but still managed four beach trips for the children. Tapnell Farm Park close by kept two small children, one with autism, totally engrossed for 6 hours on a rainy day inside barns with go carts, zip wires, face painting, animal petting, story telling, a huge duplo room, climbing frames, etc. All for £50. Fort Victoria has a series of excellent small attractions for children including a planetarium and an interactive history exhibition.

Loreto provided the perfect base to explore the west wight.
Loreto provided the perfect base to explore the west wight. It was spacious, clean, well appointed and comfortable. The back garden was a joy to use for morning breakfast and the summer house, great for evening entertainment. Easy walking distance to Freshwater Bay and the surprisingly not-to-be-missed Farringfird Walled Garden, just 200m away! Sad to leave.

Lovely property where the owners have really thought of everything, certainly everything you need is in the kitchen. The games room is absolutely great for a family. Upstairs is excellent - probably the best we have stayed in. The downstairs is perhaps a little tired and could do with tweak here and there. Would definitely recommend this property
