This was a wonderful place for a three-generation family vacation and celebration (graduations from high school, law school, birthday, and upcoming anniversary). (Ages 18 to 80). Durango is our family’s happy place, to which at least some of us have returned multiple times. We know the Durango area well. This property was a great location: beautiful valley, nice views, and only 10 minutes from downtown. The house accommodated eight of us very well, although we could have used two more dining table chairs. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen well equipped (kinives could be sharper, and a couple of serving bowls would be welcome). Otherwise, all was good. Enjoyed the wildlife outdoors. Turkeys, deer, and more! Communication with owner/manager was excellent. We would definitely return.

Our family couldn't have been happier with our stay at this property. The one common thread that kept coming up was the awesome location. You seem like you are so remote, yet less that a 10 minute drive to downtown Durango. It was in the high 80's in Durango, but consistently cooler in with the breezes coming down the valley. The sleeping arrangements for our family group of 8 was perfect. Well appointed, clean property. Excellent communication with Chris, the owner. No doubt we will be back!

We enjoyed the rustic location on Lightner Creek, so peaceful and relaxing, yet not far from town. The house was clean and spacious and Chris was an excellent host.

Great house in a great location and we had a wonderful time in Durango! That said, there is a trailer park next door, that you can see when pulling into the house but not when you are at the house. We could hear some noise (music/work) on the weekend coming from there but it was not enough to bother us. Also, I was under the impression that the house was secluded on 24 acres. It is not, you can see the neighbors houses. Again, not a big deal, I was just surprised to see them. The house is great and accommodated our needs. Beds and pillows very comfortable. The house is conveniently located about 10 minutes from downtown. Would definitely stay here again!

This house is beautiful! Very well kept and had everything we were wanting for our family vacation. Plenty of space both inside and out. Close to downtown for train, restaurants and shopping.

The home was beautiful, Chris was instantly responsive and the location was perfect. You would never know you were only 3.5 miles from downtown Durango. We and our adult children would go off and do one of the many things you could do in Durango then come back to the home and relax on the patio before heading back to town for dinner.

This stay was terrific. jost was very approachable and his home was very nice and accessible. I would recommend this VRBO to friends and family and would definitely stay here again.

Chris’ home made our trip a great getaway. While the home was only a few miles from town, the location and size of the property gave it the perfect secluded feel but was still close enough to Durango and surrounding towns. The views surrounding the property definitely gave tranquil vibes. It was perfect for our Christmas vacation.

Lots of room for six to eight people (using bunk beds). Great location for day trips to several national parks. Only 5 or 6 minutes from shopping area of Durango...very nice. Owner very responsive and helpful for things to see, do and places to eat.

We enjoyed this home as our base camp. We went out to see Mesa Verde, 4 Corners,
Silverton and some hiking in La Plata. Found some great water falls.
The host was very helpful and the house well stocked. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the stay! Love all
The windows and views!

The house, property, and location was great. Plenty of seating and room for us all. I rate this a 4- 4/1/2 star due to issues of cleanliness. This was addressed to the property mgt. I still highly recommend this home as the home and property are beautiful.

Had a wonderful vacation in a beautiful place.

We vacationed here with my parents. The house was roomy enough and had enough bathrooms that we were all comfortable. The Valley where this is located is beautiful and much cooler than in town in the summer! The home was well-provisioned. Would definitely stay there again

Very easy check in and out. Very clean! Perfect for our group of people. Will stay there again when we come back!

This house was perfect for our vacation. It was secluded and on a quiet street. There were several living areas allowing guests to spread out. We loved the front porch seating in the morning to watch the sunrise and the patio to enjoy the afternoon. The kitchen was well stocked and there were two grills. The house was an short drive into Durango and and not too far from Mesa Verde National Park. It was the perfect place to relax after a day hiking and shopping.

Great experience!! The property manager was helpful and very easy to communicate with. The property was clean and comfortable. We would recommend this property to others.

We felt like we had stepped into a snowy dreamland- the cabin lent itself to either staying in and playing games or venturing out and participating in snow fun. We did have trouble leaving the property considering the crazy storm that had rolled in.

We loved our stay here and look forward to visiting again. Great location with privacy and views. As some of the prior reviews mention there is a small trailer park near this property but we didn’t find it to be any sort of issue whatsoever. You really don’t notice beyond driving by it on the way in or out, the property is plenty big to not notice sights or sounds from the park. The cabin listing is very accurate. There are some minor TLC items the cabin could use but it is a rental and we thought very accurately portrayed in the listing. All in all we loved our stay, the process of check in and out was super simple, host was responsive and we look forward to visiting again!

Durango Vacation 2022
The house and property were very well kept. Our family of 8, 4 adults and 4 children from 12 to 4 years, fit the home perfectly. The house was very clean and the arrangement for the bedrooms and bathrooms were exactly what we needed. The location was very near the town of Durango which made access to all of the attractions easily accessible. The trail to the top of the property/overlook was very challenging and not for the novice hiker. Would definitely stay again!

We were excited for our first trip to Durango. The listing said the house was updated, which, as it turns out, was in 2005. The wifi (using DSL) was spotty. There is no cell coverage much of the time (we have Verizon and ATT - results were similar, although a bit better with ATT). The furniture in the living room was completely broken down (the main sofa was not sittable by an adult). The property manager had left no dishwasher soap, and the propane for the grill ran out after 5 minutes. The house is in a very marginal part of Durango - in the description of the property, there is no mention of the trailer park it borders. At a lower price point, much of this is forgiveable, but if the owner wants to charge a premium price, then there needs to be a premium experience. To his credit, he was responsive when communicated with, which is a definite plus. Just need to house to measure up.

What made this such a great property for us was that we were three couples and the way the house is layer out we each had our own floor. It is a beautiful home with great outdoor space. The interior is spacious and has everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. The owner is extremely responsive and provided great advice for things to do in Durango as well as lot’s of information about the property. I highly recommend this property to anyone that wants a great Mountain retreat and only minutes to all the restaurants and shops in Durango.

Wonderful Extended Family Vacation
We rented this wonderful home for a family vacation with my wife’s side of the family. 8 of us in total.
The home was perfect for our group. Plenty of room to relax on the property and explore. Beautiful location at the base of the mountain near the Perins Peak State Wildlife Area. Home was well kept and had all we needed for a one week stay. The owner was very communicative and easy to reach.

This stunning property was the perfect location for our week long getaway for our group of 7 to pause the daily grind. Very close to town but far enough away to have wide open space to ourselves. Ideal place to come home to after experiencing different parts of Durango's beauty to make even more memories. The house was perfect for us to cook and enjoy some amazing meals, movie watching enjoyment and lots of board game fun that we'll not forget! Plenty of space to all be together or to spread out. Chris was a great host and very responsive to communication.

Almost perfect
There were a few small issues with the home. It probably deserves a 4+++. I'm a stickler for small things which cut the overall rating down. I'm communicating these directly to the owner. Lovely location and wonderfully equipped kitchen and family room are among the real plus items. Would recommend it highly for a family with kids. Lots of room to play inside and outdoors.

Property was dirty. When we arrived, there was an ant Infestation. We spent 2 hours killing ants. When I notified the property owner, he was less than accommodating. First, he said get ant spray. So i said, if the spray ruins your wood, then you will blame me. He then told me to get some lysol and wipe down the baseboards instead. No, Chris, I'm not spending my vacation wiping down your baseboards. So in the end, after a heated conversation, he told us if we didn't like it, we could leave. I told him it was graduation weekend and we probably couldn't find accommodations for 10 people. We had picked this place in order for our family to be together as our daughter was graduating college. He didn't care He called me back and said he found a hotel I had never heard of before. He said he would give my money back and we could leave. He would not discount our stay in any way despite having to deal with the ant infestation! We opted to stay because I did not trust that he would give my money back and we needed the space for our large family. He did send the cleaning lady out the next day and I showed her our dead ant pile. We have pictures. She was nice but seeing the dirt on the baseboards and the dead flies all over, I think they are not doing a very good job. The place needs serious cleaning. The ants never did go away and we spent the weekend killing them as they appeared.
Next, the primary bed was extremely hard. It was like sleeping on a board. I had to sleep on the couch all weekend due to back issues. I couldn't use the upstairs or downstairs beds because I am recovering from a broken ankle. Those beds were a bit more comfortable though.
The location was great because it's so close to town. BUT it's next to a trailer court that is beyond a trailer court. It looks like a dump. And I'm not being a snob because I've lived in trailer houses as well! This one looks vary sketchy and the dogs barked all the time!
The house is nice enough but it needs some serious TLC. The stove was falling apart. It was duct taped together on the bottom. The lights in the basement bathroom didn't work. The kitchen sink faucet wouldn't stay on, although the kitchen did have all the necessary cooking equipment so that was nice.
All in all, we did have a good time as a family. However, I feel Chris did not care one bit about whether we had a great experience or not. In Chris's case, the customer is NOT always right!
