About this house rental
*** COVID19 UPDATE :: Such an unexpected season for us all. On May 4, Branson removed all local restrictions and shows and most attractions are now open. We have been thrilled to host guests again and are working extra hard to ensure that Rivendell continues to be an ideal place for resting safely with your loved ones and team. At our home, you will be isolated from crowds and even neighbors. The cleaning companies we contract with wear gloves and masks and wash, sanitize, and/or disinfect surfaces and bedding. All the information you need is sent to you before your visit, so you won’t have to interact with anyone outside your group or family during your entire stay. When you reserve Rivendell, the home, 8+ acres of woods, and dock are all set apart FOR YOU. No other guests. No other visitors. Just you, your group…and lots of peace. ***
Rest, space, privacy, peace....hiking, cold water fishing, wooded walks, family memories...we invite you to experience our prayer retreat home on a bluff overlooking Lake Taneycomo, Rivendell in Branson.
Ideal for family reunions, staff meetings, retreats, luxurious vacations, golf outings, girls getaways, and those who want to hike and fish by day and relax in a hot tub by night...
Our guests have asked to take our mattresses home, 'borrow' our original art :-), move in permanently...One tween hugged her mom and said, 'I feel like I'm a princess!!'
Golfers rest between rounds near the grill or fireside for a game of chess. Fishermen hike down to the lake to our private dock to catch trout for lunch. Families walk through the woods and roast marshmallows over the firepit. Sun-lovers tan on the deck and then lounge in the hot tub...
No need to worry about thin walls or loud neighbors or traffic noises...or people even knowing where you are! Our address is literally off the map, tucked away within 8+ acres, hidden by trees on 3 sides and Lake Taneycomo on the fourth.
Though just 3.5 miles from Hwy 76, 6 miles from Branson Landing and minutes further to all the fun Branson offers, you may never want to leave once you pull into the garage...
Wake-up in your comfy bedroom (each one has a different theme!) to watch the deer in the morning. Warm-up to winter seated fireside by the Lord of the Rings chess set. Take a nature hike with loved ones. Enjoy laughter with family and friends around a grand dining table, over a game of shuffleboard, table bowling, foosball, arcade games, or with the Wii.
Watch the sunset with a panoramic lake view on one of the decks. Relax in the 8 person hot tub or detox in the 2-person sauna before you say, 'good-night.'
And end the day with a cup of your favorite coffee and a great book from Rivendell's house library as you sink into one of our fabulous chaises and chairs.
Welcome to our retreat home. Every inch is devoted to spiritual rest and renewal.
Welcome to a private haven hidden in the woods on Lake Taneycomo, a cold water fishing lake.
Welcome to a resting space where no one can find you and no one is calling your name.
And if you're still reading...here are five notes for you:
1. Our home is county permit approved with an occupancy up to 20 guests.
2. No amplified music or weddings are permitted because of how sound travels along the lake.
3. The sunset from the dock is well-worth the hike, but please know that it is a moderate hike. Trickier spots have stairs but the waterfront is only accessible via the path through the woods.
4. Our home is now 25 years old and every year we tackle a new project. In 2018, that was a new roof. In 2019, a new heating/air unit. And our focus in 2020 is to refresh the exterior siding and do some landscaping.
5. Please note that our home is in the WOODS on a LAKE in the OZARKS. Dirt paths weave throughout the 8+ acres but if you're looking for a manicured arboretum, please keep looking. However, if you're up for some hiking, love the outdoors, and aren't bugged by bugs, you'll really enjoy exploring Rivendell's acreage! There's 7 park benches to discover, a creek bed to explore, and in the spring there's a little waterfall to find.

The home is very difficult to find. If you are interested in the dock make sure everyone is young otherwise you will not be able to get there. Twins bed are only for small children otherwise you are in a coffin (that's why bedroom is not shown on website) . Take towels only 1 per person and to do wash need to go in children's twin bedroom as well as turn on light in children's room. If staying in summer do not except to be cool and comfortable on top floor. On porch there are 10 seats so not everyone can seat outside. Rented home from 8/3 8/11 we left on 8/4 did not ask for full refund just something refused say they did not misrepresent. Left and stayed in hotels which was not what we planned. Extremely disappointed in owners response. We had rented a boat for whole week and they refunded me all our money (very good customer service). As far as VRBO is concerned they told me they are only responsible for inside the house and since they said the was a twin bedroom they did not misrepresent, now I know where they stand. Also house does need a complete update. I would NOT recommend this home to anyone and rent homes 2 times a year for the past 20 years and this is the first time I left a house after 1 night.

We had a great time at Rivendell!

It’s absolutely beautiful and I wish we could have spent more time at the house. Absolutely beautiful decks and view.

Nice place, great for larger groups

Our family of 17 had a great time at this large, creatively decorated cabin. We were glad to find the 2 inflatable mattresses but they were defective. The manager had us buy reimbursable new ones at Walmart which was about 17 min away. We enjoyed the 2 fairly large living areas, as well as the small bunk room for 4.
There were dozens of board games, VHS movies and DVDs. But only one toy to speak of.
If you are staying for a week we recommend bringing extra laundry and dishwasher soap. The kitchen is well stocked with even an electric griddle but we found only one 9x13 pan.
The garage is a bit dirty and cluttered but has more fun games such as foosball and airhockey. And several box fans to use where needed. There is only one thermostat so the upstairs stayed a bit warm while the downstairs stayed a bit cool. The hot tub and 3 decks were delightful which also included a gas grill and plenty of chairs and small tables. The wooded grounds and sunsets from the deck were spectacular. We saw lots of wildlife such as deer, a family of raccoons in the river, a ground hog, a bald eagle and a fox!! We did not have enough patience to catch fish on the dock but we enjoyed a few hours there. Our adventurous ones enjoyed the 52 degrees water. The hike down and up was strenuous for the 70+ grandparents. We brought a folding 2x4 table and it was perfect for extending the dining for 17 since we all like to eat together. The ice machine could not keep up so we bought ice.

The house was a perfect size for our family of 12. The morning view from the deck is amazing - gets a bit hot in the afternoon. The trip to the dock is a bit of a challenge but once you are on the dock, it is a delight and about 10 degrees cooler. Make sure you have a supply of bug spray as the chiggers are very "engaging".

We absolutely loved staying at Rivendell! More than enough room for the 7 of us and made many wonderful memories with adult children. The views were amazing, the house is charming, and we loved that we were so secluded yet not too far from town. There are so many things to do at the house that a lot of people may choose not to go into Branson at all. :) The kitchen, and the rest of the house, is very well stocked.
The hike back up from the dock is pretty challenging (as stated in description) but well worth it.
There were a few communications hiccups, but everything worked out alright.
With only one thermostat it was tricky trying to regulate the temperatures upstairs AND downstairs as would be expected with a large house.
The Wi-Fi information provided was incorrect, but we were able to find the correct information on the router itself.
There are a few outdated and/or confusing items on the contract so just make sure you ask for clarification on anything confusing. They were very gracious about answering questions.
All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again!

We were in Branson for a 50th wedding anniversary and had an age range from 8 months to 70 years old. The view on the property was amazing. There were plenty of bedrooms and spaces for a large group.
4.8
We booked this home for our annual family group trip. It was even better in person than the photos! The location is ideal-quiet and secluded yet just a quick drive into town. The kitchen table is incredible, we could all fit at the same time!! The best parts of the home are the front porch and the deck! We spent the majority of our time just hanging out and enjoying the view. Plenty of games to keep us entertained as well. The host was very responsive when any questions or things came up. We look forward to returning again soon!!

It’s a beautiful home and a great place to stay. There’s something for everyone and the peace and quiet it offers is unreal. Owners communicated great and made us feel right at home.
4.8
Excellent property to enjoy. A bed for everyone and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy family.

We enjoyed staying at Rest Inn Rivendell for a family reunion. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful and the dining table area was large enough for our group. There was a note in the contract to be careful sitting on the bedspreads with body lotion on, so we removed all bedspreads upon arrival and stored them in the closets to avoid any mishaps. We very much enjoyed the game area downstairs, although you can hear everything through the walls in the downstairs bedrooms, so plan accordingly when selecting your rooms. We personally stayed in the downstairs eagles watch bedroom. Side note that the en-suite bathroom can very clearly hear conversations from the dining room/kitchen area above, so keep that in mind as well. Glad we asked about the fireplaces, the one upstairs is for show only. The beds and pillows throughout the entire house were very comfortable and there were plenty of seats to snuggle up with a good book. We enjoyed walking around the property, and down to the dock area. The property manager was very helpful and communicated well. During our stay we enjoyed a bar/grill down the street called Crazy Craig’s and they had tasty wings and very friendly staff. We shopped at Branson landing along the water, did the mountain coaster, zip lining, and the cave tour with golf carts which included a museum tour that was amazing and far beyond what we expected. Our group of 13 had lots of fun and created many memories. Thanks Rest Inn Rivendell!

Rather than getting too personal, let me just say, it was perfect; everything about the stay was perfect for a family gathering.
4.8
Our family of 10 (ages ranged from 73-6 weeks old) had a great experience while staying at Rivendell. Upon arrival everthing was clean and exactly as shown in the listing. We were able to spread out and enjoy ourselves. Not being right in town was very nice, too. The property was very serene. Angela was very patient with the signing of the contract as we were having some technical difficulty with my email. Even though this covered two holidays, she was always responsive and informative. I would book another stay at Rivendell if we return to Branson.
4.8
Loved the homey feeling and room for all. This venue would be a perfect 10 for family gatherings except when you view 2 fireplaces on the website, you assume you can use them. Wished we could have used the fireplaces, as I love a fire in the cold weather, but the property manager made it clear that was not allowed.
4.8
Really neat property well off the beaten path.
4.8
We rented the property as it was literally a stones throw from the wedding festivities at Sycamore Creek Family Ranch. What we discovered was the property was better than advertised. In short, the home was stunning and provided our family a true “home” during our stay. The home and scenery were beautiful! We would highly recommend this property as a great retreat from the hustle and bustle of Branson Landing but still close to all that Branson has to offer.
4.8
The property is perfectly designed to host groups with their own private rooms and bathrooms, but also had fantastic communal areas to spend time together.
A solid 10 minutes or so off any main road, but that was well worth being out near the tranquil waterway. Would stay here again and again!
4.8
Worked well for all our peeps. Very restful, and appreciated the decks and view very much!

This is very unique home on the lake where 17 of my family stayed from 3 months to hummm over 65. Rooms r a bit smaller than I thought they would be by the pictures. Be aware there is a steep set of stairs which a problem for the toddler and couldn’t really secure a gate for or smart little guy upstairs anyways. Also Angela does sign 7 page contract u may want to have her send it earlier??? I busy try to get out my Arizona home but she really is responsive. Both before and when there. Wonderful soft blankets everywhere. Wonderful porch with overhang and rockers if raining. And great porches in back. All beds r as unique as they look in pics and comfy and the best supple of towels and pretty nice ones and kitchen towels. We’ll stocked for u but not enough containers with tops for leftovers but I hate using too much plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Wonderful assortment of pans dishes etc. if I went to Branson again if might try something else??? I’m handicapped and fire pit in the dark is little challenging and trail to lake is a bit of a challenging also. But not totally against this house at all. U will enjoy the experience everyone slept well with being outside. Best parking is in front of garage

Beautiful weather, beautiful property.

This property was absolutely magical! The details in every room we're just stunning. We had plenty of room for the group of us and enjoyed spending the evenings on the large porch overlooking the lake and enjoying the sunset together. If you want to relax and renew your mind and spirit, this is the place! I can't recommend it enough!
4.8
We enjoyed the house and fishing dock and grilled on the deck with a lovely lake view
4.8
We all enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. There was something for everyone…fishing, lots of games, roomy porch and decks, lots of bedrooms (almost enough for all 18 of us). The bad rain storm was unfortunate because the flooding came through the basement walls into the southeast bedroom. Luckily we were all at that time so we were able to clean up.
4.8
The home fit all 16 of us comfortably and had a very well stocked kitchen. Beautiful views and plenty of outdoor space to explore. The kids loved the old arcade game! The property managers were easy to get ahold of and worked with us through a few small issues. Gave it 4 stars vs 5 because all of the floors and rugs were not very clean. Overall, Our family made great memories here!
4.8
Very clean and comfortable!
4.8
It was very hot when we stayed here for 3 days. House was very cold and comfortable. We did get spider bites in some of the beds though so that will need to be addressed. The doc is amazing we caught some fish with our grandkids. A good experience.
4.8
This is an amazing property with plenty of room for a large group. The Lord of the Rings theme definitely caught our eyes. Love it! There are great outdoor spaces (even a fenced yard that would be great for kids), spacious living areas, and comfortable beds.
4.8
This was a nice property and a good location for our eight adults and eight children. We had a nice visit, and it wasn't too far off the beaten track.
The many pluses were the two refrigerators, the multiple decks, a nice yard for kids to play, plenty of activities for kids and adults, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone.
The main negative was that the Wifi wasn't working when we arrived Thursday afternoon. We had a hard time getting in touch with the host that day (no answer and couldn't leave a message). On our third try, we left and message but didn't get a response from her for a while.
The Wifi wasn't fixed until Monday afternoon (we left Wednesday morning). We realize that the delay wasn't all the owner's fault, but we wish she had kept us better informed about what was happening. It was very inconvenient to not have WiFi when we needed it to look up local activities, purchase tickets, work remotely, etc.
The other issue we had was discrepancies in some of the instructions for the house. i.e. we were told things we located in certain areas, but they weren't or the instructions no longer applied. That could easily be fixed by updating the instructions.
4.8
The house was very truly charming with so many amenities. We stayed here to get together with family from Texas. Everyone thought the place was very nice. The artwork and antiques throughout the house made a very nice atmosphere for everyone. The kitchen and living room were amazing areas to congregate and then if someone needed some quiet time there was plenty of areas to go. Another favorite area was the deck, it has the best panoramic view looking over the river. It was nice to stay this house because you could easily go to downtown Branson and see a show and then escape to a blissful relaxing very private house to recharge and reconnect with loved ones. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in Branson.
4.8
Host was very helpful and made check in easy. Property was beautiful and exactly as described. Had 40 plus family members come over for an evening meal and to socialize. All ages loved the place. Thank you Angela !
4.8
The first thing we noticed was the huge porch with the sturdy rocking chairs which were well-used during our stay, even when it rained. The place is rustic from the outside but interesting & lovely inside. We loved it.The kitchen & dining room easily acccmmodated our large family group. It was nice to be able to cook & eat & together. The upper deck had plenty of chairs, a good grill a wonderful, ever-changing view - from foggy mornings filled with bird song to clear cloud-reflecting views of the water & wildlife. We took family photos with that backdrop. The kids played in the fenced backyard & loved the game table & board games, too. The hot tub was a favorite place to relax & renew. There were so many bathrooms so - no waiting. The master suite was unexpectedly spacious & lovely. The 4 & 7 year-olds slept in the sun room but happily shared "their room" & its deck with the other cousins during the days. The bunk room held the older boys - it's a tight fit but they didn't mind & had late night conversations & slept in of a morning. We never felt as if we were on top of each other as there were so many different areas to gather or even find a little privacy. We had a wonderful time & highly recommend.

Our son graduated from high school and his aunts and uncles from different parts of the country met up at your beautiful vacation home to celebrate. Everyone got their own unique and gorgeous bedroom with bathroom. The home was supplied with everything you could possibly need. There were lots of books to read, games to play, chairs to relax and arcade to keep you active. Lots of remote trails to hike and fishing too. The location s great and the host was amazing! We will be back!
4.8
We had 6 couples staying here. We had plenty of space to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed. The game room was a big hit with us. The path down to the dock was lengthly and a little hard to navigate. Some of the family make the trek down and enjoyed the water. Overall, it was perfect for us. The house was very close to the landing which was a plus. Angela was very responsive to every question!
4.8
Quiet and secluded, while being fairly close to atractions
4.8
What a wonderful time of fun and fellowship our ladies had at your beautiful home.

Mamy and Pappy plus all 4 of our sons, two of our daughters-in-law and 7 of our grandchildren shared the house for Spring Break week. The property is fantastic and the whole process was easy and convenient. We had a fantastic time. Our 6 year old granddaughter summed it up perfectly, "It isn't about the vacation . . . it's about the family!" The chance to stay together under one roof and to make memories together as a family is priceless. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Thank you!
4.8
The house was the perfect size and location for our family stay. We were so pleased with the amenities and thoughtfulness to detail. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were too!
4.8
This property is awesome! It was large enough for all 19 of us. The many bedrooms and bathrooms made it more comfortable for our children and grandchildren. The kitchen was great and the long table with benches was perfect! You thought of everything to make our stay so wonderful. We loved the private location but the wifi was a bit spotty at times. We made wonderful memories here. Thank you!
4.8
We had a wonderful time spending Christmas at the house. It was great for our group! Especially with the fully supplied kitchen! The hostess was lovely and easy to communicate with. With the snow and ice, we enjoyed the fireplace and the board games! Would recommend for any family trip to Branson!
