VRBO'S RECENT CHANGES NOW REQUIRE THIS CUMBERSOME EXPERIENCE
We simply need to learn about your gathering to ensure our home will meet your needs.

A word about our Rates. Vrbo's format of their Rates section makes it impractical for us to input every possible rate combination for 365 days a year. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to our 9-BR, 8-BA Woodlands Lodge wheelchair-friendly family retreat with its sandy gentle-slope-beach - surrounded by our private 50 wooded acres with trails - with a commanding view of 177-acre Stone Lake, famous for its fishing and quiet solitude. Five minutes away are the Park Shore and Diamond Lake Public Golf Courses - with many more local attractions in the area.
Please note:
The BR, BA, and sleeping capacity figures include the Woodlands Lodge's Lakefront Log Cabin. The Woodlands Lodge without the log cabin is 8BR/8BA and sleeps 33. The log cabin brings the total to 9BR/8BA and sleeps 35.
This property includes a lakefront lot with a private beach, porch and boat dock reserved for Guests that's a 150-foot stroll from the main house down a path through the trees (the main house is 75 feet and across a quiet dead-end street from the lake.)
**A unique feature of the property is its optional lakeside Log Cabin with a private beach, porch and boat dock reserved for Guests which is just a 150-foot stroll from the main house down a path through the trees (the main house is 75 feet and across a quiet dead-end street from the lake). It makes for a very convenient "pool house" right at the water's edge.
ACCESSIBILITY
A concrete parking pad gently slopes up to the front door to allow one to exit a vehicle on a hard surface and enter the house with zero steps. The following ground floor rooms are wheelchair accessible: LR, DR, Kitchen, Breakfast Nook, Gathering-Game Room, 1st Floor BR-BA Suite in the Guest Quarters Wing with its ADA-compliant full BA with 3x5 roll-in shower. Also both front and rear decks overlooking Stone Lake are wheelchair accessible.
BICYCLES & TRAILS
Included with every reservation are 12 bicycles (mix of child and adult sizes) for our Guests to ride on the trails in the 50 acres of woods -- and through the residential areas of the Village of Cassopolis for those who like to admire the many grand turn-of-the-century homes that are sprinkled throughout. Bring your bike helmets!
PLAYFIELDS
The Woodlands Lodge property also includes access to our two 15,000ft² level, grassy playfields, perfect for throwing a frisbee, tossing a football or baseball around, playing a game of whiffle ball, badminton, volley ball, etc. These two playfields are private, just for Guests of our four lodges on Stone Lake. Also, as of Summer 2023, both playfields feature a "Sports Equipment Shed" filled with frisbees, dodge balls, footballs, tennis balls, wiffle balls, and loads of other fun gear. No need to haul your own toys, just take a short walk to the playfield and let the games begin!
THE LOG CABIN
The lakefront Amish-built western red cedar Log Cabin (optional for an add'l fee Jan. - May and Sept. - Dec.; it is included in the pricing June - August) is part of the property and sits directly on Stone Lake (built April 2009). The 15' x 22' Log Cabin features a full BA, a Kitchenette, a cozy Little Great Room with a soaring 18-foot high cathedral ceiling, a gas fireplace, and a sectional sofa. The Loft overlooks the open great room and has a Queen bed with a memory foam topper -- very comfy. The cabin has a 60-inch ceiling fan, central heat & AC (ductless unit with 2 head units), and a 13 cu ft fridge to keep your beverages cold -- right at the water's edge.
PONTOON BOATING PACKAGE
Most all of our warm-weather Guests enjoy reserving our Pontoon Boat Pkg. It really opens up a whole new world to be able to get out on the lake - the little ones just love playing 'captain' steering the boat -- and it makes for a great mobile swimming platform. Sunsets are glorious and it's so peaceful to be out in the middle of Stone Lake and just slowly drift and watch the waterfowl, birds, etc. And if anyone likes to fish - that's what Stone Lake is famous for! We include (actually require) in the rental of the Pontoon Boat a personal orientation session by a qualified boating instructor so that the Pontoon can be operated safely and with confidence; fuel and life jackets are provided. Included at no add'l cost with the Pontoon Boat Pkg are 7 sit-on-top Kayaks (5 adults, 2 child), plus a 6'x17' floating "Lilly Pad."
For Guests with children who love to vacation with other families, it's a fun, comfortable and unique property.
We're happy to answer any questions you may have so please ask away!

My family of 30 people stayed here and had an absolute blast! The town and lake itself are small, but this place has everything you need! Hiking, games, fire pit, a huge field to play in, private beach, kayaks… the list goes on and on… and plenty of room for everyone! Ted and Brenda were excellent communicators and everything BFF went so smoothly. We loved that my grandmother in a wheelchair was able to be accommodated here as well and did not have to miss out on anything. The lake and sunsets were gorgeous, and only about 45 minutes from Lake Michigan. We do wish the weather had been warmer but that’s the risk you take with September. We highly recommend the Woodlands Lodge and would definitely stay here again.

My extended family of 23 enjoyed a fabulous week at Woodlands Lodge. The house is comfortable, cared for, well equipped and set up to handle a crowd (3 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, 2 coffee pots and plenty of inside and outdoor seating for meals). The children loved the play structure, the bicycles and the play field. All of us enjoyed the kayaks, the pontoon boat, the lily pad, the fire pit and the game room. Ted was a communicative and responsive host. We enjoyed our week there so much that we immediately booked for next year. Would definitely recommend (and have recommended) this property to others.

We decided on this location for the fall. The Woodlands lodge was perfect. For the 7 of us. We each had our own bedroom which was wonderful. The lodge was well stocked. I have rented many homes and this was the most well stocked place i have ever rented. Beds were good and comfortable. The weather was not the best so being outside was not an option but it looked like it would have been nice to sit outside. We shopped and did a wine tour instead and that was a lot of fun. This lodge could have easily accommodated a much larger group and still had plenty of room. The owner was great to work with and while we didn't need him, he was but a phone call away if we did. Highly recommend this place.

Our annual family reunion was held at Stone Lake this year . Renting out multiple properties to house everyone, the overall response from the family members were favorable and impressed with the amenities.
Quiet setting, beautiful lake, lots to do and the owners (Ted & Brenda) make sure you have an abundance of local information available for your stay. Although the Woodlands property is an older home, the owners have made many new updates, and the property gives you that safe feeling of "home away from home".
Thanks Ted and Brenda for your quick responses and addressing any questions that came up during our stay. Looking forward to future visits to Stone Lake!

The Woodland Lodge and Cabin were perfect for our first reunion, bringing family from five states and Italy. It was a great environment for a large gathering. We had seven families and all had their own bedroom(s) and bathroom. My husband and I took the newly finished basement bed / bath in order to get some quiet space away from the kids & grandkids.
There was adequate seating for meals and card playing. Bonus items included three refrigerators, two dishwashers and a nice washer & dryer. There are built-in safety gates at the top of the three staircases. We brought one gate for the bottom of the main staircase. There's are really nice outdoor areas for large and small gatherings. The weather was in the low 80's and there were no mosquitoes until it got dark, which was surprising as it's a beautiful wooded area. We used the big fire pit for bonfires and smores.
Despite planning several outings, we ended up spending our days at the private, sandy beach with the lilly pad, kayaks and a large pontoon boat. It was an easy and short walk to the beach/Cabin from the Lodge. We liked the distance as the kids could play outside the Lodge with chalk or balls and not be drawn to the beach or water. When we do it again, we'll look into catering the meals.
Our week in Cassopolis was priceless in terms of the memories we've created. Thanks to Ted, Brenda and Christian for being so welcoming and for sharing their beautiful home with us!

This was almost like 7 hotel rooms ... almost everyone had their own bathroom if certain doors were strategically shut. Great for our needs!

Everything about this trip was great!!!! Check in, the amenities, the location and especially the accommodations. This trip was everything we expected and more. Only warmer weather would have made this a better experience. We are already planning to come back with more family.

This property and its amenities allowed our family to have a great Christmas Get Together. Lots of stuff in kitchen for all the cooks and plenty of land to hike and plenty of space in the house to have separate conversations. Everything was very clean. The gameroom was fun for a game of pool and to watch the football game.

Great experience from start to finish! We had several families traveling to the Notre Dame -Clemson game and wanted to stay together. This property did not disappoint! The kitchen was ample for cooking for a large crowd with plenty of space for everyone to eat meals together. The two dishwashers and three refrigerators were a bonus!!! There was ample sleeping space and plenty of entertainment for everyone. The drive to ND was easy and Ted was spot on when he said it was 35 minutes!!!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Ted and Brenda have thought of everything. Our daughter was getting married so there was our extended family and the grooms extended family who stayed at the home. There was more than enough room for everyone to either sit together as one big group or to get away all by yourself. We had two infants, a 4 year old, and a 6 year old. There was a pack n play and also 2 booster seats along with a high chair. Plenty of kitchen utensils, plates, cups, pans, ect. I cannot think of anything more that we needed or anything that wasn't provided. We will definitely stay again in the future. Ted and Brenda were very easy to work with and any questions were answered promptly!! They get an A+ in my book all the way around :)

We rented this place so our 15 friends could stay in one place together. This is something we have never been able to do as a friend group, 1 of our friends is paraplegic and fully wheelchair accessible places are very hard to find along with holding this many people. This house met and beat our expectations !! From the location, the town, the people within the town, to our friend having full access to the property with no issues. The homeowners were amazing from start to finish with our booking. Only 2 items of feedback we would give is the toilet is not a handicap toilet in the suite, so was a little harder to use but made it work, and the roll in shower could use a shelf. Seeing as the seat had to be placed up to roll in the shower chair to fit, there was no place to put soap or shampoo bottles. These were very minor issues to us. We had the best time, so many laughs and we were all together. We are already looking to make this an annual event and are booking for next year!! We can't thank the homeowners enough for having such an amazing place it meant the world for us all to be together after over 30 plus years of friendships!!!
10.0 / 10.0
This house is great for large groups. We had 17 (11 adults and 6 kids) and everyone had the space they needed. We spent several days down at the beach, on the boat and in the kayaks, these are a great addition to the house that allow you to spend the majority of your time at the house with plenty to do. We did venture out a couple days to check out the dunes and St. Joseph. We also walked downtown one morning, not too many stores but a great little coffee shop. It was a great trip and this house allowed us all to be together and create some great memories. One of the biggest draws to the house over many others was the wheelchair accessibility. My husband is in a power wheelchair and he could navigate the house and get pretty close to the beach without getting into the sand. The only place he couldn't get to was the firepit. Ted had great communication and made every effort to make sure that the space was easy to navigate for us, even adding an additional cement pad to allow my husband avoid the stones in the driveway that can be problematic with chairs at times. I would definitely look into this house again if we plan another large group vacation. Thanks for helping us make some wonderful memories.

We held our family reunion at the Woodlands Lodge and it's clear that Ted & Brenda put a lot of love, care and thought into their property. A well-stocked kitchen, lots of room to sit, a fun game room, and we used the private beach (so nice!) every day. The pontoon/kayak/lily pad package is totally worth it and great to have available for fun on the lake. The main house is not on the beach - but a short walk down a ramp, which we found great with keeping an eye on kids. The walking trails on the property are beautiful and well-maintained. I lucked out in the family and stayed in the beachfront cabin, which was really beautiful & comfortable. The house is also within walking distance of downtown Cassopolis - Twirl ice cream, Savage Bean Coffee and the Broadway Cafe were all favorites. Ted and Brenda shared a ton of incredibly helpful information before our stay that really helped us plan a great trip. It was the perfect spot. We would definitely stay again!

It’s beautiful home and my group enjoyed our stay for the most part. Ted is very accommodating and kind prior to booking. But once we arrived we had an issue with chipmunks in the basement and his response was to set traps after we left. But we alerted him of this problem on friday. We stayed until sunday. So the basement was not available to use because ted didn’t want them in the upper levels of them home. Again the home is beautiful and very spacious. Please read all the details they have provided because I was mistaken about the cabin. But the main house was more than enough room for our party. They charge a cleaning fee but once we arrived we had to do some cleaning ourselves. So just be advised of that. The area is quiet and it was a nice stay otherwise.

The Woodlands Lodge was a great place for our family of 12 to gather and enjoy the beautiful home and landscape. The size and condition of the home was perfect for our young grandchildren to play and for the adults to gather and play games at the long dining room table. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals along with two dishwashers! There is an additional room in the main level where our grandchildren watched videos during quiet time. One day it snowed and adults and kids had a great time building a snowman and having a snowball fight! There is a nice outside playset where the young ones could swing, slide, and climb into the fort. There are lots of hiking trails where we saw different wildlife. Although we didn't use the outside tables or sitting area, it would be a great place to gather in warmer weather. Ted, Brenda, and Christian were great to work with and promptly answered our questions. Thank you for providing a great atmosphere for our reunion!

My family and I had an amazing time during our stay at the property for Christmas. The property is absolutely stunning and was perfect for our group of 20. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials to prepare our large family meals. The rooms are spacious and clean. The kids loved the game room. The kitchen and dining room are PERFECT for entertaining....my family wants to go back and stay for the summer. The host was amazing, Ted and I chatted and had a very refreshing conversation. My son left $30 of his Christmas money in one of the bunk beds and Ted contacted me and mailed it to my son. My family has yet to stop talking about stay......AWESOME!!!!!!!

We had a great getaway at the Woodlands house. The teenagers loved staying at their private cottage. The beach, pontoon boat, kayaks, floating lily pad and pool and ping pong tables kept the kids entertained for the week. House was clean and had everything we needed for the week. Owner was very responsive to all of my questions.

We enjoyed this property very much! We all enjoyed the game room, beach, basketball court pontoon rides and hiking the trails. We took in the town and surrounding area as well. We spent many days at The Twirl eating ice cream and enjoyed some Amazing Pizza from Marcellos.

I highly recommend this property for a large gathering spot for families, friends and special occasions. The view of the lake is beautiful and very peaceful. The accommodations were on point and as originally described in the property description. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and to recharge your battery rent this property. Cheers!!

We had a great time at Woodlands Lodge with kids and grandkids while our son and his family was home between Air Force assignments. Plenty of space for fun, even when the weather wasn’t perfect. The outdoor covered eating area and gazebo gave us even more options. Everything we needed was there for our use. Will definitely be back!

We had a very nice time with our family at Woodlands lodge creating great memories! There was plenty to keep our family entertained with pool, ping pong and pop-a-shot and great space on the property to get outdoors with our kids and dog. The house is very nicely decorated with lots of seating and great views of the lake. We enjoyed the deck and outdoor seating as well. Ted was great with communication and always responded promptly! We didn’t give it 5 stars due to the area, mainly. We were planning on eating out or ordering in a decent amount, however, there weren’t many viable options for us. So, we ended up making a lot of our meals. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. It was a very nice getaway for us!
