About this cabin rental
“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home…” John Muir
If you're looking for a place to unplug from technology and experience the beauty of the Olympic National Forest, this cabin is the place for you.
This classic 1950’s lake cabin is nestled in the woods with the Olympic National Park behind it and Lake Sutherland only a few steps out the door. The cabin has all original cedar with huge windows facing the lake, wood beamed ceilings and a cozy wood burning stove. This lakefront property is nestled in a cove, with an impressive deck and dock area.
There are two bedrooms with queen size beds in the main cabin, a bathroom with a shower, and two sofa beds in the living room (a full size bed and a twin bed). There is also a second, private cabin with a queen bed, half bath and deck, that has a tree house feel.
If you like adventures, you will not run out of things to do. The location is a perfect base for so many short trips to Lake Crescent, Hurricane Ridge, Sol Duc hot springs, ocean beaches, the ferry to Victoria, hundreds of hiking trails, and the state's best fly fishing rivers. In the summer, you can swim and kayak on the lake. In the winter, you can ski or inner tube at Hurricane Ridge.
If you like relaxing, you will not want to go anywhere else. The deck is as big as the cabin and has steps into the lake. In the summer, you can swim, kayak or have a campfire. In the fall, you will see gorgeous colors all around. In the winter, you feel like you’re on the lake even when you’re on the couch next to the wood burning stove with a good book or playing games at the table. There is no wi-fi or cable to distract you from being present. Running next to the property is a creek that flows year around.
Please note that the path leading to the cabin is rather steep, and may be difficult for people with mobility issues.

We had a wonderful weekend visiting with friends! The home was clean, had a spacious deck on the water, and plenty of room for 3 couples. The location is perfect for visiting Olympic National Park, Port Angeles, or just hanging out at the lake. Kitchen was well stocked and the kayaks were great. Thank you!

We had another wonderful visit packed with memory making for our family. This was our fifth year here and our daughter was proposed to on the dock! Very special, indeed. The property owners are wonderful communicators and everything is as advertised. We took multiple hikes, bike rides, swims, s’mores, movies, and board games! Looking forward to coming back again.

A cozy little cabin on the lake with a huge dock. Swimming, diving, kayaking! The location on Lake Sutherland puts you a short drive from most of the highlights of Olympic National Park. My family loved our stay.

This was our 2nd time renting this spot. The house is great. The extra tree house was perfect for our teen girls. Proximity to the water is perfect. There is a slightly steep walk down from the car to the house, but once you're unpacked, you're set. Would recommend

My wife, kids, and I had a great time at the cabin, it was the perfect getaway. The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything we needed to cook every day. Being right on Lake Sutherland, it was the perfect base camp to visit Olympic National Park and Cape Flattery. We enjoyed the kayaks and diving board. Our kids were swimming almost every evening, and playing the Super Nintendo (brought back some old memories for me). The neighborhood was great, safe and quiet. Beds were all comfortable, and cabin was very relaxing. We spent a lot of time on the deck relaxing and watching sunrises. There is a nice little area for sitting around the fire pit, and grilling. Cabin was perfect location, clean, quiet, and very comfortable.

What a beautiful property! It was perfect for checking out Olympic NP. It was in the middle of many entrances and just around the corner from Crescent Lake. If the NPs are your thing, the deck is amazing for relaxing, and kayaks are available for paddling on the lake.
The house's layout was perfect. Our family had three different groups, and it felt like the house was set up in thirds. My husband and I took the small add-on room to the side of the house with a hallway separating us from the main house. Our nephew and his family took the main house (one bedroom with the fold-out couch), and my brother took the tree house. We all had plenty of space for privacy.
The amenities are excellent. The washer and dryer work great, and soap is included. The DVD collection is extensive, and the boys enjoyed several movies. The bathroom is clean and has soap and towels.
The only negatives (if you can even call them that) are that there is only one shower for seven people and the floor slopes.
Once again, this is a beautiful property with an excellent location, and a deck on the lake is the perfect gathering point for your group to share the adventures of the park.

We loved our stay! The deck and lake were the highlight. We made the most of the location to visit different parts of Olympic National Park. Check in was super easy and the directions were very clear. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

This cabin is absolutely fantastic! Direct water access and incredible views! The layout is perfect and the tree house is super cool too.
We traveled with our 2 adult boys and there was plenty of room for all of us. Furniture is comfortable and the rooms all take advantage of the spectacular views.
We cooked every day and there was plenty of space for all of us to be around the counter and also sit down together (inside and outside).
Only 15 minutes to Port Angeles and to one of the Olympic National Park entrances (Hurricane Ridge). The ferry line is also in Port Angeles and very easy to use.
Only about 10 minutes to Lake Crescent Lodge (great souvenir shop)!
About an hour and 45 minutes to the Hoh Rainforest ONP entrance.
This is one of our favorite VRBO bookings ever, and we have rented a fair amount.

We had a perfect three night stay at the cabin. It is not how it is described in the overview— it is even better! It is located in a very quiet neighborhood. The cabin is cozy and feels like you are stepping into an old friend’s house. We loved all the natural light and the big picture windows so you felt like you were always on the deck. We couldn’t get over the picture perfect views we experienced throughout the day on the lake. We are already planning to come back for an extended period. My fiancée, who can be a bear to get to go on vacation, said more than once this was the best place he had ever stayed and wants to know when we can come back.
My most important part— The kitchen, while small, comes equipped with everything you need for cooking in during your stay (one of my favorite parts!) as well as a grill. The hosts have thought of everything you need! (Aside: We came from the west and got some groceries in Forks. Port Angeles definitely had better seafood and overall grocery selection). You are close enough to Port Angeles to head over for meals, too.
The property is centrally located to so many hiking trails in Olympic! This is a perfect location and home. You’ll make some wonderful memories here, promised!

Absolutely enjoyed this place! The owners were so gracious and even left us a treat for our birthday celebration. Thank you!! The cabin is lovely, comfortable, clean, with beautiful touches. We all loved the mix of charming rustic like the slightly slanted floor and quirky but comfortable nooks, and the windows that let in light at all the right spots, combined with the well done upgrades to the bathroom and touches of beauty and art throughout. The treehouse was lovely and comfortable, the views were great, the deck was amazing and very spacious, the stairs are steep but negotiable and safe/sturdy. Neighbors were quiet and gracious. We loved hearing the sound of the little creek next door. Overall an incredible relaxing weekend with friends. We all want to take our families back for another stay!

My best friend and I stayed in the cabin for 4 nights. We had a fantastic stay, despite the super rainy weather. The property is very well maintained. The proximity and view of the lake and surrounding hills was absolutely gorgeous. I was excited to sleep in the tree house, which was adorable and well furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The house is well stocked. Highly recommend this property. The owners were very communicative and made us feel welcome. Good to note that the steep walkway down to the house could make it challenging for anyone with mobility issues. But it was so great to be right down on the water!

Perfect location, close to Port Angeles and hour drive to all the best spots on the NW peninsula. Loved Lake Southerland

The scenery is beautiful, and the property is quit. With the deck sitting directly on the water. Everything you would need in a comfortable sized cabin for high-end "camping." I would definitely recommend this property and will return next year!

Wonderful combination of cabin and modern amenities.

Our family of four (two adults, two kids) spent two nights at this cabin. The cleanliness was immediately noticeable upon arrival. A standout feature for us was the kayaks and children's life vests, which provided hours of enjoyable lake time.
The outdoor deck is a highlight. Equipped with a table and a fireplace, it became the perfect setting for evening s'mores. One thing to consider: the cabin is situated on the south side of the lake and faces east. This means plenty of sunlight in the morning, but limited direct sun as the day progresses. It's ideal for those hotter summer days to keep things cool, but might feel a tad chilly when the weather's cooler.
Overall, we found it to be a very peaceful retreat, and we're keen to return.

We had a great time with our kids here. Yes the cabin is crooked like other reviews have said but it’s not an issue. Adds to the quirky and rustic vibe. And no there was no evidence of little critters as other reviewers have suggested. It’s just one of those things that critters will come with the location and cabins or even homes can never be 100% little critter proof here in the PNW but as long as it’s taken care of when it happens on the rare occasion it’s again not an issue. The deck is big and wonderful with easy walk in the water access and a diving board. Owners have included everything you could need, even life jackets which we forgot ours and it was so helpful there was plenty to go around. So many towels!!! My only complaint would be the air freshener through out the house was very strong, though it was a pleasant scent. Plenty of movies/ games and things for kids to do. The tree house was so cute and cozy as well. Overall this place is a little rustic gem that deserves every 5 star review it gets.

This is such a gem. The cabin is so cute and the perfect size for our group of 6. I loved the closeness to the water and the location as a starting point for visiting Olympic national park and other nearby areas. Highly recommend. Row boat and kayaks were fun. Would be great if there was a SUP available but we rented one for our stay. The diving board was my favorite part.

My husband, two teenagers, and I stayed for two nights at this amazing place. Wish it had been two weeks. The location is absolutely beautiful, accommodations exactly as described, and the cabin had everything we needed. In 48 hours we kayaked, swam, hiked, and rested. We are in Seattle now and can’t stop talking about this place. Thank you, thank you for a lovely stay. We can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely beautiful cabin. Better than the pictures showed. The cabin is so clean, neat and tidy. Has absolutely everything you need including beach towels, life vests, wet suits, floaties, 2 kayaks and a row boat. All you need to bring is your food & clothes. The hosts are great at communicating and respond quickly. Such a wonderful weekend playing in the water and relaxing!

This was just what we needed after a few days of hiking. The view of the lake is wonderful. We used the kayaks to explore the lake and play 'pirates'. Drinking coffee on the dock in the morning sun was very relaxing. My wife and I are talking about going back just the two of us to visit again and hike trails we didn't get to this time. If you are looking for a lake house for vacation, look no further!

What an incredible location! Beautiful views. Swimming and kayaking right outside your door. Soak in the sun or star gaze on the spacious deck. The cabin itself and the tree house was cozy and inviting. There is a steep grade getting to the house from the street so watch your step but totally worth it once you're inside! Floor of the cabin gently slopes but got used to it.

this location is gorgeous! definitely need to be able bodied as the decent to the cabin is steep and the floors inside are slanted. however, the view and backdrop were perfect.

We love this cabin on the lake. Brought our husbands this time and everything was perfect, clean and soooo relaxing. Met neighbors in both side and they were lovely. Thanks for such a beautiful special place!
6.0 / 10.0
This cabin was great, looked clean, was in a beautiful spot, and really met all of our needs. The big issue came when we saw multiple mice in the kitchen. On the countertops, and running across the floor. When mice become comfortable enough to be seen, you know there’s a lot! I’m betting there’s an infestation. We found mouse droppings on the kitchen counters, behind the coffee pot, and in the utensil drawers. They even chewed through some of our bags of food! I would say it’s because of the location, but we’ve stayed at two other cabins on the same lake and never saw a mouse, let alone more than one along with their droppings in almost every drawer. When I reached out to the owner, they didn’t offer an apology but rather said they’d have their cleaner put out traps and hope we enjoyed our stay. I think they need an exterminator.. but It felt kind of dismissed. we felt gross after our kids and the rest of us used utensils and cooked by things had been covered by mice droppings. Otherwise everything else was great.. I’m hoping no one else has to deal with the only big issue of this place that we had!
