Take in a spectacular scene of evergreen mountains, sunlight filtering through the trees, and the deep teal waters of Lake Sutherland at this waterfront home on the edge of Olympic National Park.
This two-bedroom, lakefront home sits on the north shore of Lake Sutherland, a wonderful place to swim from the dock, launch the provided kayak, or fish for rainbow trout, coastal cutthroat trout, and kokanee all summer. The national park boundary is just across the lake while downtown Port Angeles is 14 miles east.
Whether you're planning to hike, kayak, or fish, you'll find the perfect place to end each afternoon on the open, tree-lined deck. This stunning spot overlooking the lake is ideal for morning coffee with a view, afternoon barbecues on the gas grill, and evening soaks in the private hot tub. A firepit just off the deck provides a cozy spot for s'mores and stories at night.
The house is full of Pacific Northwest charm, offering wood-paneled walls and ceilings, windows that frame the lake, and a pellet stove to curl up to in the evenings. The upper, main level includes a sitting area with a TV and DVD player, an open kitchen with every essential, and two bistro dining tables to choose from. The two bedrooms are split between the two floors, with the lower-level primary bedroom offering a desk workspace and glass doors that open to a second shaded deck and hot tub.

Eagles Nest was a beautiful peaceful relaxing property. We enjoying swimming, kayaking, and using the hot tub. This property met all of our needs for being convenient to ONP while allowing time to rejuvenate at the lake. The views are stunning from the top deck!

There was ants in the kitchen area and the hot tub smells horrible just wants to make you vomit

Eagles nest was amazing. The view couldn’t be better and the cabin was perfect for my fiancé and I. Even though it is located off the highway, the vehicle noise was drowned out by the beautiful mountainside and lake. We had a sedan so we didn’t feel comfortable going down the hill with it however there was parking above that worked great. The property is central to several parks and amenities. Would stay again.

It turned out to be bigger than I expected. The bathroom is a good size and the upper deck is huge. The kitchen was big enough to be comfortable to cook in, but we mostly grilled out on the deck. The spa was so nice after spending the day hiking.
The path down to the dock was steep but it’s a nice dock and we were able to use the kayaks provided. The driveway is level but the gravel road down is quite steep. The booklet in the cabin recommends parking up on the road next to the highway if you don’t have AWD. The washer and dryer aren’t functional, but all the other appliances worked. I really appreciated the electric kettle.
The location is really good for visiting Lake Crescent. We were able to hike from the Storm King ranger station and also bike around the lake on the Spruce RR trail. It’s not too far from the coast if you want to visit the beaches.
The big bed was a bit noisy and hard so we didn’t love it. It’s in the room downstairs with no door if that matters to people. We didn’t have extra guests but the upstairs bedroom with the bunk beds looked nice for younger kids.
The view is stunning. There’s several large trees on the property so it’s a nice mix of view and privacy. The traffic noise is noticeable outside on the deck, but we otherwise didn’t hear it. Overall we were very happy with this place and we’d be glad to come back again.

Security cameras in the listing does not cover it. They are placed specifically to watch guests and are obviously being actively monitored. I have two teenage girls and I felt so uneasy that we had no alternative but to leave. Property management just said it was my problem. No even partial refund for my three night stay. Oh and it is right beside Highway 101 so despite the pretty pictures - if it is peace and quiet you want this is definitely not it!

This is a spectacular location; a memorable home.
Unfortunately, the kitchen attention: the oven doesn't work, the back burners barely simmer, no toaster, dim from several burnt-out lights, and missing lots of necessities (whisk, sealable containers for leftovers). You don't expect much from a vacation kitchen, but this one was notably sub-par, especially for a remote location where you want to be able to bring your food. The grill worked ok, so we survived, but wasted some food (frozen pizza) and expected better for the price.
There were a couple of other things: the hopper for the heating stove makes an unbearable grinding noise, there is a old-fashioned light timer in the kitchen that loudly ticks 24/7 and the outdoor seating is really lacking.
Even with all those bumps, it's hard to imagine a more beautiful and inspiring location. The house is perched on a very steep hill overlooking a pristine lake and a few miles from incredible hiking around lake crescent. It is as convenient of a place as you can find for exploring Olympic National Park. The place is beautiful and reasonably spacious for a mountain cabin (the tv area is tiny, but who wants to be inside when staying at a place like this).
Some notes: Only reserve if you are fit enough for lots of steep slopes, don't bring your rental car down the driveway, and the access is about 100 years east of what Google Maps claims.

This cabin has all the basics for a couple or a small family to stay and enjoy the lake. The place is well situated on the hillside with nice views and a long but well marked path down to the water.
There were not a lot in the way of luxury amenities in the cabin and there were a few things that could be added or improved to make it a perfect 5 star experience.
The cookware has seen better days (a pan handle was ready to fall off), and there could be more deck chairs for example.
Overall, a pleasant place to stay near many sites in the park.

This cabin on Lake Sutherland was a perfect hideaway for our family vacation! With beautiful views of the lake on both decks and a deck with kayaks, we truly loved this lake house oasis! It’s location is ideal for Lake Crescent, ferries to BC from Port Angeles, and other destinations in Olympic National Park like the Hoh rain forest, Rialto beach and Ruby beach.

This cabin has a generous deck with a stunning view of the lake. The home itself is in good shape some key frills: It has a pellet stove that was much appreciated on cool nights, a hot tub on the lower deck, and its own dock with kayaks available. It would work best for a couple with kids; it's a little tight and short on upholstered seating and deck chairs for a group of adults.

The property should not be allowed to be rented out until they get the sewage fixed. The entire stay, we could smell sewage in our bedroom and outside the house anytime we flushed the toilet. Absolutely disgusting and hazardous. The hot tub didn’t work for a while either, but was fixed on day 3.

The porch & setting were spectacular and home nice - however there are just two tiny deck chairs that were too small for a male adult to fit in and no cushions that were designed for the spring chairs.
And
One porch table that could use cleaning but no chairs for it.
A few key details would make this overall an excellent experience.
Thank you!
