About this house rental
This fixer upper will have you wanting to come back time and time again. Completely remodeled from inside and out! Looking for charm of yesteryear with a clean, light and airy feel a lake house should have? Then this is it!
This house was gutted from top to bottom, inside and out. It was redesigned and reconfigured to maximize the space without sacrificing its original charm!
Furnishings are clean, new or vintage chic. Great nautical decor throughout.
This is a lake house that would be one you would want to return year after year. This charmer has a HUGE front porch that you will never want to leave. It is a living room outdoors.
There is a unique large yard to play in, a zip line for the kids, kayaks and more. Read a book while relaxing on the porch, share a bottle of wine, or take in the gorgeous panoramic views of Keuka Lake, the rolling hills and vineyards. The way the porch sits gives you a panoramic view of the lake to watch the sail boats, kayakers, joggers, and bikers pass you by. You don't even have to be at the water to feel like you are there.
If you are participating in the Keuka Triathlon or Crossin Keuka races you couldn’t ask for a better location. All happens here.
Starbucks is a short walk away. This location allows you to take a walk, run, or bike ride safely. Take in the fireworks on the front porch along with many other traditions that happen on this end of the lake.
This home is featured on Escape Brooklyn blog as the place to stay in the FingerLakes. It has also been posted on Pinterest and other social media outlets.
The property has a very open floor plan. The first floor has a charming kitchen with a farmhouse sink, kitchen aid range, a small refrigerator, marble countertops, a single serve Keurig cup coffee maker, dining area, living room w/couch, chairs, tv above stone fireplace, large custom bathroom with walk in shower- bathroom has sliding barn door which can NOT accommodate a lock, and first floor bedroom with futon/couch/bed and tv. Enjoy your meals out on the spacious front porch. The porch is outdoor living room.
This is a special little gem! Come and enjoy Keuka in one of the only true cottage bungalows left on the lake which is nestled on a quiet residential tree lined street. Enjoy long walks and bike rides on this less traveled road.
First Floor bedroom includes a futon couch that is very comfortable (full size), tv and DVD player, ceiling fan and closet (board games and puzzles located here). Board and baton walls with shiplap and beams finish off this stylish space.
Second bedroom has a queen bed, a ceiling fan, walk in closet and laundry area. This bedroom also has a gorgeous original stonework and shiplapped walls with vaulted ceilings and beams.
Third bedroom has 3 twin beds with a twin bunk bed in loft above stairs, dresser, ceiling fan, walk in closet and shiplapped vaulted ceiling with beams.
Upstairs consists of two bedrooms, second floor laundry, and a powder room. Original cottage had an open loft upstairs. It continues to have the open loft feel which we love. It now has two bedrooms but the bedrooms have NO doors. Openings to doors can accommodate curtains for privacy if so desired which are located in the master bedroom closet. Both bedrooms have large walk in closets that serve also as changing areas with drapes for privacy. First floor bedroom/tv room also has glass pocket door separating from living room. This room serves as a casual tv room as well as extra sleeping quarters. However, the door is not privacy glass. Views from every bedroom window of the beautiful lake!
This property is located near Penn Yan for easy trips to the grocery store, wineries, golf, antique shops and local events. It is situated near Keuka College. Enjoy long walks and relaxation on this lakefront property. You will fall in love with the area, the views, the lake and this very special place. It is a magical place to make special family memories.
Important Info- Please read:
*The gas grill runs on propane. Please check propane tank upon arrival to avoid any disappointment at meal time as well as before your departure for the next guest. We try to replace tank regularly but there could be an instance it may need replacement. If so, you will need to bring to Byrne Dairy in Penn Yan approximately 10 mins away to swap out the tank. Swapping out the tank runs around $23. We ask each guest to be courteous to the next and swap out the tank if it was used, empty or close to empty. Ultimately, this will be each guests responsibility.
** Spring/Fall guests please note the dock is a temporary dock and gets installed/removed by a service which is at the mercy of Mother Nature. The dock service determines when this will be installed and removed due to weather. The dock is brought out and left on shore making the beach front unusable.
***Our dock can not accommodate 2 boats due to the L -shape. If our boat is docked there another boat can not be docked. Our boat lift (not pictured) may not accommodate your boat. In the event our boat is NOT docked there, permission is needed to bring or dock your boat. Please inquire within prior to booking.
*****Good things to bring are beach towels, water shoes and Keurig cups.
Instructions for check in will be sent to you on the day of your arrival, usually around 3-3:30pm. We do ask each guest to sign our rental agreement with booking.

“Fresh flowers greeted us when we stepped into the house! Fabulous home, a fabulous location, and a wonderful host!” MC

A great location for swimming, launching a canoe or just soaking up the rays. Loved the floating dock!
You can tell the cottage was lovingly restored, with so many personal touches. And Danielle responded quickly to every question I had. A perfect host!!!

Beautiful location, comfortable beds, homey, great decor and a great front porch! Danielle responded to every question we had.

We had a great time in this well-thought out home. It is on quiet, beautiful part of the lake that is right off of the Keuka College campus. We live in Central New York, but have never gotten to enjoy this area and wanted a nice fishing/lake weekend- this hit the spot!
We rented a boat for a day from Jay's Boat & Livery-- highly suggest them, beautiful pontoon boats. Also, stopped for dinner at Timber Stone Grill in Hammondsport (also great and beautiful presentation).
Other than those excursions, we laid low in the house. We are a couple in our late 30's, early 40's traveling with an 11 year old and 18 month old. The 11 year old *loved* the zip-line, and our 18 month old loved watching her through the kitchen windows.
We easily made a fire near the house one night, played cards and really got to enjoy each other's company in this wonderful cabin. We never had the chance to swim off of the dock/ floating dock, but everything looked great!
Thank you so much for letting us use this wonderful space!

Beautiful property. Our favorite part of the house was the front porch! We ate all of our meals here, played cards, and watched the evening lightening storms. We went for daily walks in the neighborhood, read books in the hammock and made s’mores in the fire pit by the dock. Very comfortable and relaxing home.

We spent a long weekend for our anniversary and had a great time. Kayaks were so fun to have because the water was a bit chilly but kids loved swimming and jumping off the dock. House was great and close to Penn Yan for any needs. The zip line was also a big hit! Loved everything about it!

We loved this property! Very clean, well stocked and steps to the lake. The boys took advantage of the kayaks, and we had a fire every night. We will be back!
Thank you Danielle!

This cottage was everything and more than what we wanted. Perfectly appointed and was situated to give a feeling of seclusion. Super easy access to the lake, with kayaks provided if you choose. Yard and lakeside fire pits for s’mores or a cooler evening. Lacked nothing! We will be back.

Our past stay is the second time in two years we have stayed at Anchor Away. We absolutely love the home and its location. The street is not busy, no power lines to look through for a lake view, AC is perfect, front porch is devine, friendly neighbors, kayaks are awesome, the list goes on. The house is close to Penn Yan and of course, SENECA FARMS!!!

We had a lovely stay at the Anchor Away property! It is the perfect charming little cottage with updated decor and amenities. We spent most of the weekend on the front porch overlooking the lake or out on the kayaks (there are 3 on property). Our daughter’s favorite part was the zipline that runs next to the house! The location is a quick drive into Penn Yan and we were able to check out the Keuka Arts Festival happening last weekend. We did have one question when we first arrived, and the owners were very responsive and helpful. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Our group of 5 friends stayed here for MDW and really enjoyed our stay! The property was clean and nicely decorated and was a great location to access all the wineries and breweries nearby. We spent time enjoying the lake access, using the Adirondack chairs in the backyard, as well as lounging on the covered patio in the mornings. Close by to Tops in case you need to pick up any groceries. Would come back again!

Close enough to walk to the ceremony. Perfect location, has everything you need.
Perfect "get away" spot on the lake or to tour the wineries.

This lovely spot on the shore of Keuka Lake, just doors from the campus of Keuka College, was just as advertised! Recently renovated, this home sleeps six and is just what you’d expect of a lakeside cottage. Sparkling clean, we felt very comfortable for our weekend reunion. Beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and there were ample bath towels (although, kitchen hand and dish towels were non-absorbent and dried nothing). The kitchen was well-equipped, however, the addition of a small microwave would be handy. We did not use the waterfront nor the kayaks that are available, but they are a nice option for this charming waterfront property. Expectations for guests are clearly defined at this great lakefront spot.

We enjoyed the house and location by the lake very much. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It was also a good location for taking walks and near Penn Yan for dining options

My family had a great week on the property. The extra yard area, zip line and kayaks were a nice bonus to Keuka Lake property.

We had an amazing week! Our three kids- ages 12, 10 and 6- had a ball from the minute we pulled into the driveway. Between the zip line, swimming, kayaks and dock they were busy from sun up until sun down. My 12 year old caught over 20 fish during the week! The house was spotless, very kid-friendly, functional, and offered every amenity you would need for a week away from home. It was perfect!

We had a great time staying at this property. The location was perfect. There was easy access to the water. The spacious and private yard space was perfect. The house was in great shape. Everything was clean and well taken care of.
The house was stocked with everything we needed and the owner's definitely pay attention to the details to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. It shows that they take pride in the property!
Danielle was very responsive to our questions and quickly helped us get through any issue that came up.
Highly recommend!

Location, location, location!
We have stayed at many properties at Keuka Lake, but this property is absolutely the best. Clean, quiet street, neighbors are great, close to Penn Yan (Seneca Farms!), and Keuka College. Walks and biking were excellent. We will be back. Thank you!!!

Cute, Family-Friendly Stay!
This house is adorable and so well curated! The area was quiet and beautiful which is just what we were looking for with our 5 month old daughter. The road by the house is barely noticeable as there's not much traffic at all. The house is clean, cozy, and an all around lovely stay!

Perfect Family Getaway
This cottage offers everything you need to have a relaxing getaway with the family. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming off the dock and fishing. We ate all of our meals on the front porch while taking in the beautiful view of the lake. We loved ending our day by the water while enjoying a fire with some delicious local wines and star gazing from the dock. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations I’ve had with my family. We were all sad to leave and would love to return again.

A Gem on Keuka Lake
This was our second time at this beautiful vacation home. It offers a gorgeous view of the lake and so much more. When the grandkids came to visit we kayaked, swam off the dock, made s’mores round the fire pit and they had a ball on the zip line. It is a beautiful area with lots of wineries, restaurants and hiking trails. The house is very clean and well maintained and also beautifully decorated in a nautical theme. One suggestion might be the addition of a microwave in the kitchen.
Unfortunately we were there when tropical storm Fred brought torrential rain to the area, which caused a lot of flooding and damage to docks along the lake. . Danielle was great about keeping in touch with us during that time. We managed to have a fun week in spite of the storm. This is one of my favorite rentals that I have found on VRBO.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful home along the lake. Spent many hours on the dock with kids playing on the swim platform. Enjoyed the covered porch and fire pit. Well appointed vacation home. You will enjoy time spent relaxing at this beautiful home!

Charming
Adorable home with all of the items you may need to enjoy your stay! The zip line was a unique feature that my children enjoyed very much and the Anchor Away was decorated in the cutest way! The owners were incredibly easy to communicate with, quick to respond and incredibly friendly - needless to say, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay at the lake!

Excellent!
Great place for a single family! Our kids had a great time, the zip line and fire pit in the yard were very fun! Great Lake access, and the front porch is everything for views and relaxation! Very quiet neighborhood, and grocery store close by (less than 10 mins).

Beautiful home on a quiet street. Very sunny and airy. It had everything we needed to live the lake life for a few days.

Amazing Stay!
Danielle and Mikes house was spotless and beautiful. We were only ten minutes from town and right on the lake! So many wineries to choose from that were a short car ride away. The house was functional and nicely decorated. Thanks for a great stay!

Cute
The home was very cute, had lots of character. Perfect for a small family. The porch was a joy to spend time on. The owners were helpful and offered nice suggestions. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful however if you are not a wine drinker the activities are limited.
On a transparent note the house was smaller than I anticipated especially upstairs. I should have read through the details a little closer, but one full bath was a bit of a challenge, and there are no locks on that bathroom. Also the back room is considered a bedroom yet the futon is very uncomfortable, not a true bed or bedroom for that matter. Also the kitchen is lacking in efficiency, very small coffee pot, no microwave and the stove top only had one eye that worked properly. Also for light sleepers the noise of people moving in the house is impossible to ignore. There is no insulation between top and bottom floors, so everything is heard along with any moving up and down of the stairs.
If you are aware of these things and they are not a concern, then you will simply love this charming home.

Great Location, Very Tidy
Property was very clean, well equipped and in a great location. Although a road is between the home and water it’s extremely quiet and more of a great walking/biking path. Owners were very attentive. Great 5 star property.

A wonderfully relaxing week at the Lake!
This house is perfect in every way -- location, amenities, decor, size, water access. We loved our stay. Every detail has been attended to and it is just as comfortable and cozy as it looks in the photos. We spent a part of each day touring vineyards and breweries, hiking, and driving the beautiful countryside before returning to the house to kayak, read at the water's edge, and sip cocktails around the fire pit. Thank you to the owners for sharing this beautiful place!

Lovely week on Keuka Lake!
My husband and I loved our week in the 'Anchor's Away' cottage!! The house is so full of charm! We had breakfast & dinner on the porch overlooking the lake. (Which is also a great spot to read a book!) We snoozed in the hammock, paddled the kayaks in the afternoon and enjoyed fires by the shore in the early evening. Danielle & Mike were so helpful (including a great rec for homemade ice cream at nearby Seneca Farms). We'd love to return one day!!

Perfect lake retreat!
We had the best time! The house is beautiful and was very comfortable for our family of four (although it could have easily slept more). We loved the kayaks and floating dock - our two girls (ages 8 and 4) couldn’t get enough of the lake! The front porch is amazing - it was so relaxing to sit outside and soak up the beautiful view and lake air. Danielle and Mike were very accommodating and responsive. We are so grateful to have had a week away at this special property! Highly recommend!!

Amazing house & location
We are beyond grateful to your family for sharing this beautiful home with us. It is hard to put into words just how perfect everything was. We enjoyed everything the lake house had to offer. The location on a quiet side road gave the feeling of being a part of a small neighborhood-every morning the same few people walked by with their dogs or rode by on bike and everyone was so friendly. The porch was by far our favorite space-had all of our meals there, watched a few storms come in and just relaxed and watched the water. The house is so beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need. Thank you for sharing the kayaks with us, we had a great time with those too. We really could go on and on about what a lovely job you’ve done with the place and how lucky you are to have it. We feel fortunate to have rented it and hope to stay there again.

Nice location!
Property was pretty and clean. It was nice that the house was shaded. Dock was great to sit and sunbath. Water was refreshing! It would have been nice to be able to open front windows to get a good breeze throughout the downstairs instead of having to have window unit on.

Gem!
If you’re looking for Americana, nautical lake house in quaint sleepy neighborhood you’ve found the right place. Book this house now and you won’t regret it. It’s clean, perfectly decorated and outfitted with everything you need, plus spacious. You’re guaranteed a great stay. Cookout, fish off the docks, go for a run along the lake, drive into town for Seneca Farm (ice cream and chicken) or Amity Coffee, build a fire and make s’mores...it doesn’t get any better. Most of all sit on the porch and needlepoint (like me) or read (like my kids) or just lounge (like my husband). It’s dreamy. We didn’t do it but the lake is perfect for kayaking. There’s plenty of sleeping places in the house. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, serving platters and spices (which I always appreciate, although I packed my own). It’s without question the owners of this place created a dream escape on the lake. The only problem we encountered is that we didn’t want to leave, but we did because Letchworth Park was calling.
