This place was great! Nice and private, no view of neighbors or anything. Ned was a communicative host and everything went smoothly. The gate around the pool was helpful for keeping the toddler out, and the pool was very clean. Also we all commented on the lack of mosquito bites, so i think the pest treatment he does is working. The deck was used a lot for chatting. The dining room table inside was quite spacious, good for family dinners. Having two fridges was helpful. The kids loved sleeping in the loft area. And the tvs we used worked great. The shore was a fun excursion, didnt catch any fish but a couple crabs. The provided kayak, lifejackets, and crab pots were a fun treat for the 7 and 10 yr old and they already want to go back. Ned gave detailed instructions, and the crabs we got from Lindy's were delicious. We also really enjoyed our visit to the harriet tubman visitor center/national park, highly recommend. Thanks again!! Hope to come back again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Chesapeake Bay Area. There were so many things to do on site we rarely left. Extended family enjoyed kayaking, exploring the cove, searching the mud flats, exploring the point, the various provided sports activities, and the pool.

The property was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was just what my 4 generation family needed. We enjoyed exploring the property, swimming in the pool, crabbing, and fishing. We played cards daily at the big family table. We also caught enough crab in the provided traps, and with fresh shrimp from the local seafood market (Lindy's), we enjoyed a delicious low country boil for dinner one evening and soft-shelled crab another evening. We saw two eagles and lots of deer daily. The shoreline was beautiful. I am unsure if it was a seasonal phenomenon, but the bay had a LOT of jellyfish - as in one every few feet - so do not get in the water without being observant. The property manager was very friendly and responsive. We let them know that the hammock was broken on our arrival, and a new one arrived within a couple of days. It was not expected, but it was used and very friendly. You have to bring your sheets - which we did not learn about until we received an email after we left home. This was not a deal breaker. I wish we had known before leaving home to avoid an unexpected trip to Walmart after a long day's drive (the only store within 30 minutes of the property). To the property manager's credit, this information is noted in the listing, it just needs to be highlighted in some way more clearly and a reminder sent in enough advance for people to prepare. Don't let this deter you thought from a wonderful trip. Truly magical!

Cool house on a breathtaking property, we had a great time and had everything we needed

We enjoyed the house and property. It was a laid back vibe vacation. Kids playing and exploring the grounds, first place that we had to bring our own sheets, would have helped to know before booking. Ping pong paddles need replacing but overall we really enjoyed our stay. Loved the big dinning table and view out the back windows. Also crabbing and fishing was a plus! We would stay here again.

Just finished our multigenerational family vacation with folks aged 20 months to 70 years at this very private property. The farmhouse has been lovingly restored and was just perfect for our group of 12. Adequate living spaces, both inside and out, and the screened in patio with grill and ping pong table was a huge gathering place. The kids enjoyed the pool and the wide open spaces where they could run, play ball or chase bubbles. Three of the 4 bedrooms were good sized with enough space for a port-a-crib or small cot but the 4th, with a twin & trundle was a bit tight. The loft area provided additional sleeping space but it is open to the kitchen and dining space below. The cove was great, although a bit longer walk from the house than anticipated - we really loved watching the birds in the early morning as well as the spectacular sunsets. Owner/manager promptly responded to a couple of pre-arrival questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and will keep in mind when we next vacation on the Eastern Shore.

The property was perfect for a family vacation for anyone that doesn’t want to have to leave for other attractions. We had family from Grandma, parents and teens down to babies and literally everyone enjoyed full days of activities. Swimming, kayaking and family kickball games were the highlights of our stay.

We have stayed at Taylors Island many times, but it has been a few years since our last visit. The kids are now adults and they wanted to come back because the property is perfect for making family memories! The new deck and pickleball/basketball court are amazing additions! Wildlife was seen the first day, including 2 bald eagles...so special. House is clean and kitchen has everything. We cook all meals so this is the perfect place for us. We will be back again for sure!!! Love the peacefulness and setting of the property! Couldn't ask for more...thank you Ned!

First NED thank you this home that you worked so hard to restore is amazing this is a farm house from the 1700 an other half 1800 is the most amazing experience from the windows everywhere you don't miss anything in nature outside the landscape has no words your not going to get a five star resort, you get something better the people around here so sweet an attentive a home that makes you see the beauty of old farm life with new amenities like tv
kitchen bathrooms what they didn't have in these times. You feel that home feeling when you wake up peace, this home has everything for the people that didn't forget what real beauty was in this era of time. Ned thank you for letting my family see a piece of history and stay in it for 4 days.I can go on for days cause this made us remember what spending time and family is really about we will be back this island is everything this was a true vacation Thank you Ned for opening up a piece of your kids upbringing to us.

Great place for family and friends

Our long weekend on Taylor’s Island was a multi-generational hit. From 4 years to 80, every person had a wonderful time. Cousins were free to roam the carefully mowed grounds, enjoy the swing and hammock, play foosball soccer, and with parental supervision have mud fights in the cove at low tide, swim in the pool, and kayak with adults. The adults, in addition to kayaking, running, and swimming in the pool, rediscovered ping pong skills long dormant. Ned’s property is absolutely private and quiet, home to bald eagles, heron, egrets and deer only. We all loved it and want to come back!

Our family of seven was looking for a quiet getaway where we could crab, swim and just relax together. We found it here! The property is stunningly beautiful. No close neighbors. We caught crabs and steamed them up with our dinner. Nothing like fresh steamed crabs! The sunsets were amazing every night. Whether sitting in the kitchen, under the shade tree, or out by the bay, we were able to drink in the beauty of each evening’s sunset. Can’t forget to mention the beautiful night skies where you could see a zillion stars. The pool was very refreshing. Most of our time was spent around the house except one day when we took a drive to visit the Harriett Tubman museum and drive through Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Both were worth drive. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

What a peaceful place! Ned was a great and helpful host. The property works equally well as peaceful retreat and sportsman’s paradise.
Things we loved:
* expansive and private views to the horizon
* the sounds of songbirds and the wind (and nothing else) beneath the shade of the two mature trees in the backyard while relaxing in the Adirondack chairs
* the novelty of the loft with foosball table lasting all weekend (and somehow magically eliminating conflict for three siblings ages 10, 8, & 7!)
* fishing the cove at dawn; crabbing the cove at sunset
* paddling around at our leisure

Loved everything about it! We had nine adults and never felt crowded. Crabbing was a lot of fun and we were finally successful netting about five dozen. Watching storms come in was thrilling! I would suggest water shoes and plenty sun screen.

Our stay at the beautiful Taylor's Island retreat was even better than we hoped it would be. The property is absolutely breathtaking, and our extended family of 14 made use of every aspect of the outdoor recreational activities that were available. We explored in the kayaks daily, had great success with crabbing throughout the week, and finally had some luck with fishing as the week drew to a close. The kids and adults alike enjoyed the basketball and volleyball courts, and the pool was perfect for cooling down on the hot days that we had.
The house was incredibly charming, overflowing with character and fit our party perfectly. The kitchen was well-equipped, bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the screened porch for dinners, crab feasts and even just playing board games. We felt like we were the only people on the island.
Communication with Ned was great. He readily responded to questions via email leading up to the trip and was easily accessible throughout our stay to answer quick questions and offer tips for crabbing and fishing. He provided great suggestions for dining on the island, as well as for grocery shopping and nearby conveniences. We highly recommend this property for groups looking to unplug and enjoy the true beauty of the Eastern Shore.

The space was great, alot for family to do. The teens had fun, they all found something they could do & liked getting to bond with one another. The pool was refreshing after a long day playing. We even got to go fishing in the Bay.
The only problem we had was on Friday while we were in the pool they came to do yard work & I had not been inform that they were coming.
The house was nice & with information given stay was nice.
I will do it again.

Could not ask for a better experience! We rented the property for a week and held our rehearsal dinner and wedding here! The owner was diligent and helped us throughout the entire process. Everyone who attended the wedding loved the beautiful scenery and the overall atmosphere. On top of being able to have a unique wedding venue, everyone was able to enjoy the property as a mini vacation all week long! The house and property are well kept and clean. Lots of activities to keep everyone of all ages entertained.

The property owner/host was gracious and pleasant with our inquiries.
This place met our accommodation needs nicely. We were greatly surprised by the various forms of
entertainment for a multi-generation gathering. The availability of several activities with the large lawns beautiful trees, volleyball, and a superb basketball court were all wonderful!!
More detail by the cleaning folks in the kitchen is needed. All serving pieces, baking & cookware in the lower cabinets required cleaning before any use.
Plans to return for future gathering is high probability!!!
Not sure what ever happen to 2nd key identified in the instructions, whereas upon our check-in we only found 1 key in the lockbox. The discrepancy was reported to the owner.

I would book the house. Lots of room and a big kitchen. It is 20-30 minutes from Cambridge and really quiet. It is perfect with a group.

Had a great time with family and friends in this well appointed historic home with all the modern comforts and conveniences. Ned, the homeowner, was super accommodating and answered all our questions during our stay. Definitely recommend and will rent in the future!

This was a great house for our family vacation. There were 10 of us 7 adults (parents and grandparents) and 3 children (5, 10 an 13). Beautiful property, spacious inside and out! We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets, a campfire by the water and a spectacular night sky. Plenty for everyone to do with the pool, kayaks, foosball, ping-pong, etc. Good communication with owner as well.

Listing is not accurate. For a home being professionally cleaned, there were dust bunnies under the bed along with cob webs. AC vents very dusty. Pool was not vacuumed prior to our arrival nor the entire week we were there. Could not use cove as described. Very disappointed, will not return

We very much enjoyed our vacation at your house

We had a great time spotting wildlife- egrets fishing in the cove, white tail and Zika deer, wild turkeys and a bald eagle soaring over head while we played in the pool. The house was large with plenty of space to find alone time or all join together in the great room for fun and games. We had a great meal at Old Saltys on Hooper Island

My family of 10 had a great time at this property. We loved the access to water and boats, as well as the (smallish) pool near the house. The kitchen was spacious, and the outdoor screened room was one of our favorite spots. The owner was very responsive and helpful when I asked questions. Would recommend.

Amazing property away from it all
The giant lawn, small but fun pool, rope swing, basketball court, kayaks, small boat, and protected shallow inlet (with a bit of a beach at low tide) made for pure magic for our families with young kids. We saw plenty of turkey vultures and several bald eagles, in addition to frogs.
Two bedrooms were very spacious. The others were small but totally adequate. The common areas were plenty comfy and we absolutely loved the screened-in porch with ping pong table.
While dated, the furniture was comfy and the house clean. The only thing the place lacked was ample bug screens on windows.
Really such fun. It felt like we were way out. So peaceful and lovely.

With kids, activities and work, I found it almost impossible to get together with similarly situated friends from high school and college. So, I booked this property several months in advance and sent out an invitation. Eight of us stayed at the property and there was more than enough room for us. The house is open and roomy with a fantastic screened in patio with a fireplace, grill and tables. The bedrooms were large and the loft was very cool. We played basketball and walked down to the water to throw in a few fishing lines. The cove was awesome and the views were beautiful. Even the drive to the property once you get to the island was filled with cool views and nature sightings. While you are only a few miles from "civilization", it feels like you are a million miles away, with how quiet and peaceful it was.
Couple all of that with a great host who was very attentive and responded quickly to any texts or e-mails, I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away for a little while without having to go far away.
