About this cabin rental
If you want to experience the serenity and natural beauty of the mountains without being far from restaurants, shops, and attractions, Old Hickory Lodge is for you. The three-story log home, which can sleep up to 18 people, is located in the quiet, wooded Hemlock Hills community. You can gaze out at trees and the seemingly endless sky from the cabin’s two large decks, yet you’re less than fifteen minutes from downtown Gatlinburg.
With its wood-planked walls, floors, and ceilings, Old Hickory Lodge is rich with traditional charm. But it also offers plenty of modern luxuries. Generously cushioned seating makes the great room an inviting space for watching a favorite show on the 50” flat-screen TV or surfing the web via the free WiFi. In winter the stone-surround fireplace adds a golden warmth that only accentuates the rustic ambiance.
Likewise, the log-style dining table and the kitchen island are a cabin-perfect contrast to the gleaming stainless-steel appliances of the fully equipped kitchen. From the refrigerator/freezer with ice maker to the dishwasher, from the microwave to the blender, Old Hickory Lodge’s kitchen has just about everything you need. The cabin has a park-style charcoal grill outside as well, should you have a hankering for home-cooked barbecue.
The downstairs game room at Old Hickory Lodge ensures that even if bad weather keeps you indoors, boredom is never an option. Enjoy shooting pool at the full-size billiard table, playing foosball, or challenging each other at the arcade game. For a cinematic experience, settle into one of the nine cinema-style seats in the home theater and watch a movie on the oversized flat-screen TV.
And when the weather clears, you’ll definitely want to hang out on Old Hickory Lodge’s two expansive covered decks. Kick back on one of the numerous rockers and listen to songbirds in the morning; enjoy nibbles and cocktails at the bistro table as the sun sets behind the trees. Best of all, luxuriate in the lower deck’s hot tub. For a memory you’ll long cherish, take a soak at night, while the moonlight casts its silver glow and the hooting of owls punctuates the serenade of the whip-poor-wills.
To get the most of a vacation, being well rested is a must. That’s easy at Old Hickory Lodge. The downstairs and the main floor each have a relaxing bedroom with a log-frame queen-size bed, a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, plenty of storage, and a ceiling fan to help lull you to sleep. The other two bedrooms are on the top floor. With its king-size bed, fireplace, private bathroom, and flat-screen TV, the spacious primary suite practically guarantees sweet dreams. The fourth bedroom can sleep up to eight people in its pair of queen-size bunk beds. It’s a perfect room for the kids in your group to make their own; it even has its own bathroom and flat-screen TV.
Have additional guests? The sofas in the great room and the game room each convert into queen-size beds. And as well as four bedrooms, Old Hickory Lodge has four full bathrooms: the two en-suite bathrooms on the top floor, another on the main floor, and the fourth downstairs.
While Old Hickory Lodge has just about everything you need for a laid-back, fun-filled stay with family and friends, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of its proximity to the area’s attractions. The cabin is only a half-mile from the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Loop, an eight-mile trail of more than a hundred galleries, studios, and craft shops. In less than fifteen minutes, you can drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or to the attractions of downtown Gatlinburg, which include the Guinness World Records Museum, an aquarium, thrill rides, and a tram that heads up to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park.

Nice be property and easy to access.

The cabin was spacious, especially the game room. We could only use 2 of the 4 showers, which was inconvenient. Needed more cooking pans. No cookie sheets to bake biscuits on. The beds were perfect. We would return there if the bathroom issues are addressed.
4.2
The cabin was very clean with a nicely stocked kitchen. The theater/game room was a huge hit with the kids, as well as the adults. The cabins living area could definitlely use more chairs, for comfort, but we made do and had a blast.

I reviewed previous rentals reviews on Facebook before booking and same complaints were listed as I am mentioning.
(1) condition of sofa in game room is too bad. Leather peeling off. Mattress not in condition to sleep on.
(2) condition of mattress on first floor is also not good to sleep on.
(3) kitchen sink has fallen 2-3 inches very unsafe for tenants.
(4) we booked for 18 occupants as allowed maximum capacity on this property. Housekeeping did not provide enough towels and blankets. Took long to supply blankets even we logged complaints at check in.
(5) This property doesn’t have capacity to hold 18 occupants. Must be corrected.
This comments are listed on Facebook since November 2022 and nothing has been updated.

Super nice house! Great location! Only 15 minutes from Gatlinburg downtown and about 25 minutes to Pigeon Forge. The only thing I would say bad about this house is there is only parking for 2 full size cars maybe 3 small cars.
4.2
The cabin itself was nice but some of the furniture need to be Changed out the couch downstairs is peeling really bad. The stools that you sit on are real loose. The window blind in the living room towards the deck was missing. Everything else was fi we had a good time.
4.2
The cabin was very nice. The beds are great. The couches were horrible- very old and worn. They sat horribly. Also, there was very little furniture in the great room. The cabin holds 14 people and there was only a sofa. There’s were no other chairs so most everyone had to sit on the floor. There were also very few cooking items and some of the ones that were there were very old and rusty. Also, the hot tub did not work. There was an ice/snow storm that came through but the hot tub was not working before that. Overall a great trip - just a few thoughts for improvement!!

Loved it. Will be doing it again

Enough room for grandkids to play a d adults to visit. Couches need to be updated and a couple chairs added. As with all cabins around parking is issue when more than 2 vehicles.
4.2
I’ll start off by saying, this property is clean, safe and easy at access. There’s plenty of towels, bedding and kitchen necessities. The hot tub is great and our kids had fun with the pool table.
The only things that would had made this stay better is, the seating in the living room and down stairs that is minimal. There’s no way more than 2 people can sit on the couches. For a place that sleeps 18, don’t plan on all being in the same room to communicate comfortably. The couches that are there are worn and need to be updated badly. Also, unless you have streaming services of your own, good luck watching TV. The fridge leaks at night.
If those few things were attended to, we would consider staying at this location again. Overall, it was comfortable and bug free.
4.2
The cabin overall was great for our group. Minor things we didn’t like: shower curtains need to be changed and one of the tubs was draining very slow. Living room area could use another couch to accommodate more than 3 guests. I would recommend to owners to provide more instructions on how to use the fireplace upstairs. Game room and hot tub were awesome! Location was great 15-30 mins (with traffic) from major attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Cell phone service was going in and out on the drive to the cabin but was better once we got to the cabin. We would book again!

Really enjoyed being able to spend time at this VRBO. The parking spaces available are light, but the property manager was able to have us park at the property office as an overflow lot which was very accommodating! Thank you for the opportunity to spend time at this awesome cabin!

Most of the guests that stayed for the week ended up with bed bugs.

Overall, I enjoyed the cabin. I love the privacy from the back balcony, the jacuzzi, and game room. The bathtubs had scratches and poorly pacthed spots. It was very dofficult for us to get in because the code was not going through. After several attempts it finally worked. We had to deal with that every time we stepped out. The place was clean nad theirs TV is every room, which was great. Despite the small things, I would definitely come back.

Convenient and Spacious
I would definitely say there needs to be some updates but it worked for our group. We were not home (at the cabin) much but if we were, the ratings would be a little different. Very convenient to all of the surrounding areas. Super easy to get to and even though you are pretty close to neighbors, we did not mind it at all. Easy to get to town and not having to ever sit in traffic was AMAZING! Still needs to have some updates.... not enough seating in living area for 13 people to sit or anything like that as a group, pool table legs were still not on securely and it was wobbly (I know someone else left the review about that) and the rugs were all up on the corners and tape was all visible. Again, just minor updates that could happen but everything worked well (machine wise). Kitchen was stocked with pots and pans unlike one we have used before. Would definitely stay again in hopes that the cosmetic things are taken care of in case something does happen and someone gets blamed for it.

I would like to start this review by giving the positives of it. The cabin was very clean with no issues with the beds and or surrounding rooms. When we originally got there, the masters shower was not working but someone was sent out the very next day and it was fixed. Now let me get to the negatives.
When you book one of these cabins and are coming from out of state, you are basically looking for a home away from home. The little things matter. When we first got there, we like everyone else who has a full kitchen, goes to the grocery store and buys food for the week. We open the refrigerator to put our food in and there are no shelves on the door. None. How do you have a cabin with a full kitchen and no shelves on the fridge door? Second. Don’t expect many pots and or pans to do any type of large cooking. We had to go and borrow pots from a friend to cook because I guess the management company or owners didn’t think it was necessary to put an adequate number of dishes in the cupboards.
The bedroom areas were nice. Very big and spacious. Nice closet space too. But don’t expect to hang any of your clothes up in those closets. Not a single hanger in the whole cabin. Not one. So, none of us used the closets. Had to keep our clothes in the suitcases.
The entertainment area was nice. Large tv with stadium seating. Nice pool table too. Four pool cues included to play. However, two of the cues had no tips. Completely useless. No chalk. No bridge. Puzzles us as to why you would say you have a pool table but not have the right equipment to play with. Made do with the 2 we had. Nice foosball table. Completely useless. No foosballs to play with. They did leave a ping pong ball though. What we were supposed to do with that we have no idea.
Break a glass or drop something on the floor that needs cleaning up? Too bad. No broom, mop, vacuum, no nothing. Had to clean up a broken glass with our hands and paper towels (that we bought). Have to wash the dishes that you used? Good luck. Had to go and buy soap, sponge, dishwasher detergent. When I tell you they had zero amenities they had nothing. We all laughed when one of our wives asked if they may have a hair dryer when she had gotten out of the shower.
We have stayed at probably 12 cabins over the years. Every one of them provides basics for their clients. These little things do not cost much for the management company and or owners to provide to their renters who are spending a lot of money.

Family Vacation
Everything was awesome thanks for sharing your home with us

We had a great time! The cabin was great. We wish the main floor had more comfortable seating for all of us. It needs a new can opener cause the one there didn’t work. The hot tub took a day and a half to heat up for us.
4.2
The location itself was easy to find and close to town, but the cabins are very close together. Zero privacy. You can hear all the families in the cabins around you. Sure, you can fill the cabins up with people because they’re big, but how would the people get there? Only two cars can park. The place easily sleeps 14 grown adults, but there is ONE broken down couch in the living space. We had a group of 8 and you could only sit 3 at a time. The only other seating was wooden benches at the dining table and it was highly uncomfortable. There was not adequate furniture to accommodate for the guests. The foosball table had no balls, and while we were looking around for them, one entire leg collapsed and the table fell. This was obviously not the first time because there were multiple wood screws already trying to hold it together. The pool sticks were in rough condition. The rugs were old and all the corners roll up, so we constantly tripped. The place needs a real overhaul of the living areas. The beds were in great condition and comfortable so at least that was good. When you look over the balconies, there was trash as far as the eye could see. Every cabin just had trash everywhere all over the land and that looked awful.

We love the game room! The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

Awesome week at Hemlock Hills
Overall quiet community well maintained very close to downtown even closer to arts district. Plenty to keep kids happy in the cabin. Awesome near by food city for grocery’s. Some food delivery options. Some previous poor reviews have been corrected pre our arrival. Hot tub was great after hiking some trails. Very comfortable beds. Appliances all worked as designed. Plenty of kitchen utensils plates and cups. Will look to stay again.

Cabin was nice, clean, close to town yet out of chaos. Only complaint is the view is blocked by over grown trees. One of the main reasons we picked this cabin with the views in the pics. Besides that cabin was great!!
4.2
Loved the cabin, so much fun with arcade game and movie theater. There is a bear problem definitely need to watch where you park your car. There is no view of mountains, which does sucks. Trees need to be cut down or something. Would recommend stay there but wish we had a better view!
4.2
The cabin was more stressful than relaxing. The majority of our group could not come due to Covid and we contacted the rental company regarding this but they had no sympathy. Rather hateful actually. Only 4 people made the trip, who all were positive for Covid so I hope they take the proper cleaning measures.
When we arrived, our code would not work. It took an hour for a maintenance worker to come and get us in. All of the codes they provided him wouldn’t work either and he was complaining about them the whole time. Says a lot about the company.
Lights on the 3rd floor wouldn’t work, maintenance had to fix those. Cabinet in kitchen was broken, maintenance fixed that.
Several things broken in cabin - rocking chair outside, chair in living room, pool sticks (only 1 to use), hand towel holder in bunk bed bathroom, etc. Mold on the shower curtain. Large rug upstairs and downstairs is a tripping hazard, it wont lay flat and they tried to tape it... The hot tub needed filled up. The grill is charcoal, make sure to bring that if you want to use it. It was not cleaned very well. We found several items left over from the previous renters…dirty socks, sleep mask, trash, etc. I could go on… Overall, not worth the trouble. Nice cabin if they would take care of it.

The overall stay was good. The cabin was big and beautiful. The 2nd and 3rd floor rug was not tacked down, almost had a few falls ,I could not get the dishwasher to work, the foosball game leaned, one side of toaster did not work and the 3rd level remote for TV did not work. I called maintenance they did come and fix the lights on the 3rd floor ,but disregarded everything else.

We stayed at the Old Hickory Lodge over the 4th of July and the location is prime for Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge activities! Outside of that, there are quite a few things that could really improve the accommodations aspect of the cabin. The main chair in the living room is broken so bad that your butt hits the ground when you sit. The entire face of the oven pulled off when we went to open it. The hot tub stopped working after our first night. The pots and pans have seen better days, missing handles, etc; but don't worry, there are no pot holders to be found so you will surely burn your hand if you want to use them to actually cook during your stay. There is enough coffee provided to make one pot and no salt & pepper. The shower liner in the master was moldy. They could definitely benefit by paying more attention to the small details.

This was our first trip to the Smoky Mountains. We so enjoyed our stay - hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding and exploring the local artisans. Old Hickory Lodge was ideally located outside of the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg which is nothing more than a tourist trap. The house was spotless upon arrival. We did have issues with the access code. After hours customer service answered the phone right away and was able to help us with an alternate code. A few days into our trip, the front door knob broke. Maintenance arrived in about 90 minutes and quickly replaced it. The beds were so comfortable! The neighborhood was quiet. The pool table, arcade and hot tub got plenty of use in the evenings after long hours of hiking. I would love to give Old Hickory Lodge a 5 star review but am giving it 4 for several reasons. The kitchen needs to be resupplied with usable pots and pans. There were no large pots in which to boil pasta (or cook anything in large batches) for our group of 8. We had to use two smaller pots both of which were missing handles. Since there were no pot holders, we had to use bathroom towels to pick up the hot pots with no handles. Not exactly safe. No mixing bowls. No serving bowls. Refrigerator was missing all the door shelves. Some wine glasses would be nice. Coffee maker was moody. Didn't always stay on to keep the coffee warm after brewing. Needs replacing (how about a Keurig?) And then there is the furniture in the den. The pleather on the couch is peeling off. The arm chair is broken as one of our party found out when he sat in it and sank all the way to the floor. The rugs curl up and proved to be trip hazards. One of the rocking chairs on the patio was broken. And finally, the dryer was not working properly. Only dries on high and even then takes forever. A little updating and TLC would make this a 5 star rental.
