About this house rental
Welcome to the Lucky Penny, my island paradise getaway. This completely remodeled 5,000 sq foot three-level home is just 50 steps from the beach and provides amazing rooftop views. The design, decor and amenities have all been chosen to provide comfort and an unparalleled vacation experience. It's my home when not rented, so every detail has been thought out to make it a relaxing place. The house is centrally located in the Ocean Park neighborhood, just minutes to Condado, Isla Verde, and Old San Juan.
You will be renting the entire three story home which includes 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a dining table to seat 12, fully equipped chef's kitchen, multiple seating areas, and 2nd/3rd floor/rooftop deck spaces. There is also a private, year round heated pool (a rarity in PR due to electricity cost!), as well as outdoor dining area and BBQ.
The house will very comfortably accommodate 12 people, and with extra bunk beds in the first floor bedroom, up to 14. There are 5 large bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, which have either queen or king beds outfitted with memory foam mattresses, quality linens and plenty of pillows. Additionally, each bathroom is equipped with mirrors that have built-in Bluetooth speakers. Each room also has a 50" LED TV, with built in Roku, for Netflix/HBO and live streaming TV service. Wifi is high-speed 1gig fiber optic and available throughout the house. Every area and room has inverter A/C units, and there is a full-home backup generator should there be any power issues during your stay. There is also a backup water cistern, so your stay can be trouble free as possible.
The home was designed in a very modern style and is all white inside and out. All of the porcelain tiles were imported directly from Italy. The windows are tripled-pane and soundproof, which keeps it cool and quiet inside. Kitchen cabinetry was all handmade of solid teak, as well as in the bathrooms, and I have included high end European fixtures. In the kitchen is a massive island around which everyone can congregate. All furniture is either from Pottery Barn, West Elm, or has been custom made by myself. I have added a pool table to the second floor lounge for your enjoyment.
Ocean Park is perfectly located between Isla Verde and Condado/OSJ. You will have quick access to the best of both worlds (about 5-15 minutes from most attractions/restaurants), while coming back to a safe quiet residential area. The neighborhood is fully gated, and has a 24 hour rotating guard. Uber is fast and inexpensive in the area, so you may chose not to even rent a car. However if you do, there is a driveway with automatic gate in the front of the house.
I have included most items you will need for a beach vacation: chairs, umbrella, towels and coolers. The house is fully equipped and fully furnished. If something is missing, let me know, and I will do my best to meet any requests.
Please note, we heat the pool to a very pleasant 86-87° to maximize enjoyment while also controlling water chemistry. The entire pool is heated at once, so it is not possible to separate the smaller sitting area, although it does produce relaxing bubbles.

Our entire group loved our stay in this beautiful home. It had everything you could need. Great dishes and pots and pans It was roomy enough for our group of 12 with plenty of room to spare. The beach was fun for the kids and boogie boards at the house came in handy for our kids (big and small). We loved the pool and hot tub. It was the perfect size for staying cool while visiting. It was crazy how cold the home got with the mini splits and how quickly it would cool off. he only downside was that our trip was too short. We would happily stay here again.

The house is better than advertised. Plenty of room for our group of 7 people. I believe you can host up to 12 people and not feel cramped. Location is great. The beach is maybe 100 feet, its that close. The house is in a gated community so the exterior gate allows you access without having to deal with the security gate. There is an exterior gate to an outside street which is outside the gated community. That exterior gate was very helpful to catch an Uber ride.
Peter, the owner was very courteous and gives you lots of privacy.
I highly recommend The Lucky Penny for your next vacation to Puerto Rico. You will not be disappointed!!

The place was very clean and well located near the beach. It was within 10 minutes of all things that we wanted to do in Puerto Rico. The owner was very accommodating and quick to respond to answer any questions we had. Each bedroom was beautiful. Even though there were six of us in the house, the noise levels always remained low. Will be back!!!

I planned a girls trip with 12 women! We had plenty of space…This property was amazing! Clean and luxurious!! The house is exactly what was advertised! The owner communicated with me the entire time!! We knew exactly what to expect! I would recommend using the local concierge service….. very reasonably priced and super accommodating! The concierge arranged for transportation to and from our private boat charter…which was a fantastic experience… I highly recommend!!

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Lucky Penny, and it has been perfect each time.
For this trip it was my wife and two 20 something sons with their girlfriends. The house is great to be able to hang out, enjoy the pool, the roof top deck and also big enough to escape if wanted.
Peter was again very attentive and answered any questions before and during the trip within minutes of me asking.
The house was spotless when we arrived, and they were accommodating for a couple small special requests.
I'm looking for another reason to come back and enjoy the house again soon.

It was a beautiful property with lots of room for everyone to have their own room and not feel cramped. The pool was also great to have for the afternoon and evenings. Highly recommend the place!

Last year we started taking family vacations to celebrate my beating colon cancer. We had lived in Puerto Rico in the 1990's and enjoyed our time so we decided to return. Best vacation yet!! The house and amenities were awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the house; location, pool, kitchen and gathering rooms. We were very sad to leave.

The house was beautiful, clean and conveniently close to the beach. There were some maintenance issues but the owner quickly responded to messages and addressed most of the concerns. The hot tub attached to the pool does not have the option to be heated which seems like a missed amenity. Most concerns were minor but did affect the quality of our stay (shower that pools water back into the bedroom, unevenly slanted pool table, outside furniture with mold spots). These issues although minor did start to add up but could easily be addressed for future guest. The overall style of the house is very nice and the owner was accommodating.

My family of 7 adults, ranging in age from 75-24, and my two children stayed for a week at Peter’s property. The home provided all the space and amenities that we needed. Several days we didn’t even leave! Peter was great about answering all our questions and making sure we were set up for the experiences and excursions that we wanted to have. Spacious and Beautiful
The property was very clean and fully equipped for our seven adults and three small children. The location is awesome. It is a 15 minute walk to great food options. The parking pad holds two cars. Also, very secure safe residential neighborhood. Highly recommend.

Perfect stay
The house is stunning!!! all the bedroom are so comfortable, the kitchen is fully stock, everything works perfectly. The proximity to the beach is perfect for sunsets, and restaurants and bars are a very short distance either walking or car. Peter, responded to any of my questions right away. No one negative thing to say!!! Puerto Rico is a beautiful island and I hope to go back in the near future.

This was an amazing experience. Peter was so helpful and easy to communicate with about any questions. We had a private chef which was an amazing experience. I would love to return on w future trip here. We all had our own space. Each room was adequate and comfortable. I appreciate such great hospitality.

Amazing Home
This place is amazing, spacious, clean, and just a fun place to be. it is HUGE, and the location is very ideal. The kitchen is next level as well. Peter was really helpful and communicative.

Perfect spot for my bachelorette party!
Overall, we had a great time staying at this property!
Pros: It was close to the beach and really easy to walk there plus had pool towels and beach chairs. The rooms all were very clean and a lot of space for people to sleep comfortably. It was nice that all the bathrooms were connected as well. We loved the rooftop and it was perfect for sunsets. The pool area was clean and a great amount of space for everyone to hang out in. Everyone felt safe there as well. The kitchen was well stocked and had enough space in the fridge for all our things. Showers were also stocked with some shampoo/conditioner if anyone forgot. Peter was quick to answer questions and did let us drop off luggage early.
Cons: My biggest con was they didn't allow a late check out. I understand it's a big house with a lot to clean for the next people, but I had looked online and saw no guests checking in for a couple more days so it would have been nice to have a couple extra hours at the pool (we would have even paid extra to be able to stay longer). The chairs outside are kind of moldy on some of the edges. Again understand it's a humid location with lots of rain, but they should maybe change them out more often. The tub in the main bathroom is cracked as well as the stovetop. There were also fruit flys in the kitchen the first day that were so bad we had to cover our drinks with paper towels while we were in the kitchen. Also, the last stair going up the first staircase is higher than all the others and almost everyone did trip so just remember it's there!
Overall we had a great time and would stay here again, just wish there was a bit more flexibility.

We had a great time and enjoyed Puerto Rico very much the house was beautiful and plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the pool. It was close to the beach. The beach directly in front of the house was rockier than I expected but you were in walking distance of several gorgeous beaches. We very much enjoyed the rooftop terrace spent many afternoons up there after the sun was off of the pool. All the beds were very comfortable but one of the bedrooms didn’t have a TV in the third level bedroom the TV was very close to the floor and hard to see. Overall a great experience I highly recommend going into old San Juan and doing Miramar food trucks. And if you’re extra adventurous do the monsters zipline it was awesome!

This was a weekend gathering of 11 friends from college from all over the US. The house was fantastic: plenty of bedrooms, plenty of space for sleeping, capacious kitchen and gathering area/living room, great swimming pool, excellent proximity to the beach, and excellent communication with the owner. My family and I travel A LOT and we always use vacation homes like this instead of hotels. We are a responsible family and always leave our vacation homes just as we arrived. Now, with Lucky Penny, we were initially very excited to be in such a beautiful house. The pictures made this place look like everyone’s dream home and on arrival we were quickly disappointed. From uneven stairs (causing many near falls), to cracked bathtubs, random holes in the walls, exposed wires, molded outdoor furniture, and a falsely advertised heated pool. Many of the imperfections we overlooked since we were only going to be there for 2 nights, but when it came to the pool, which is the main amenity we look for in a house, we had to speak up. When we brought the extremely cold pool temperature to Peter’s attention, he was VERY rude and blamed our lack of knowledge of a heated pool on the time of year, even though we come to PR every January. He begrudgingly changed the temperature from a supposed 82-85 degrees Fahrenheit. This must have upset him that we weren’t happy with the pool because a few hours after we had checked out we were surprised with an accusatory text from Peter stating that we broke their cooktop. This was a shock to us as we never even cooked in the house let alone touch the cooktop. Peter continued to bully me through texts trying to get out of me that someone in our family broke the top and that we should fix the damage. We of course did not break the cooktop and are now in a claim dispute to get our security deposit back. My suggestions to anyone who is desperate to stay here, take pictures of EVERYTHING. Peter is clearly not an amicable host and will quickly try to ruin your trip over false claims.

Amazing Family Trip
We chose the Lucky Penny to host our family vacation because of it's size, pool, and location to the beach. We were so happy with the place! We all enjoyed the pool, but especially our grandchildren. We had 4 couples, 3 young adults and 2 children. There were beautiful areas for everyone to spread out and relax. The beds were all super comfortable, and we had everything we could have needed for our stay there. Peter was very prompt in answering any questions we had and was a terrific host. BEST family vacation ever. We'll be back for sure!
