About this house rental
Hartnett's Bluff House sits above a private rocky beach, close to the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. The house was built from 2007-2010 by the owners. It is a cedar-shingled post and beam home that boasts an open concept layout. The main floor is open space flooded with views of the ocean from every angle. It contains a well-appointed kitchen with granite and butcher-block countertops and stainless steel appliances. There is a beautiful dining area with a large granite table that seats 6, and a living area with a comfy sofa and chairs perfect for lounging with friends and family, and gazing out at the ocean sunset. The main floor is complete with a powder room and a playing space for games and toys.
The upper floor reveals a gorgeous master suite with a heavenly king-size bed overlooking the water. A peaceful on-suite bathroom is complete with double sinks and a classic antique claw foot tub. There is also a cozy sitting area with comfortable chairs, ottomans, and reading lamps perfect for curling up with a book at the end of the day. A separate room with door off of the master has two twin beds that can be joined to create a king-sized bed, and makes a great kids room.
The lower of the three floors contains a third bedroom with a queen-size bed and ocean views. The third bathroom is complete with a large open tiled shower, double sinks, and more windows looking out onto acres of rosa rugosa. Guests will also find a bonus entertainment room with a flat-screen TV and a sofa. There is also a laundry room with a washer and dryer for guest’s convenience. Doors lead out onto a large deck complete with lounge chairs, a BBQ, a solar heated outdoor shower, and hammock, perfect for cooling off and relaxing after a long day at the beach!
Adjacent to the house is the path down to the private rocky beach, an excellent place to surf-cast and catch striped bass and bluefish, hunting for driftwood, shells and beautiful beach stones. Later in the season, this serves as a popular surf spot on the island, and provides a great spot to watch the surfers brave the waves!
The property is located on the southwest corner of Block Island at the end of a rather long dirt road. The road is usually kept in good condition, which should allow easy access by any car. Since the house is located about 3 miles from town and the swimming beaches, a car is recommended. Due to the location of the property, the home allows for the privacy and tranquility that is most prized on Block Island. The house was recently updated with fast and reliable cable internet.

The house is pure bliss - 2 nights was not enough. Will definitely be coming back again!! Beds were very comfortable, kitchen had everything you could need, and I really appreciated the owners flexibility with check out.

Stayed at this property with 4 other women. Fabulous view. So remote and relaxing yet only a short drive to anywhere on the island. We will be back!

We absolutely loved everything about our stay. This home is stunning with breathtaking ocean views that can be seen from every window, as soon as you walk in the door you will be in awe words cannot describe how beautiful this home truly is.
We have been coming to Block Island for years and by far this is our favorite home on Block Island it is truly magical you will not want to leave.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! We are counting down the days for our stay next year!

The location of the house on the Southwest point is stunning with fantastic views and sounds of the surf. Location is remote but directions to the house were clear. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Coffee maker needs a new filter and dishwasher was broken during our stay. Bed mattresses are firm. Internet worked great.

If you are the type of person who sets an itinerary for your vacation; don’t bother staying here. If you are the type of person who wants to truly relax and allow Mother Nature to set the itinerary; there’s no better place in the North East. 5 year in the books. 6 already booked.

Loved everything about this house. Especially the views from the living room! Just perfect! Hope to return.

Quiet, peaceful, idyllic location. Wonderful getaway!

This is a beautiful home with outstanding ocean views. It is perfectly secluded on the western part of the island. When we arrived, we had to make the up the beds which wasn’t a big deal, but unusual based on our VRBO experiences around the world. The internet was virtually non existent and there was no tv service due to the DirectTV having malfunction errors. We informed the housekeeper and owner and there was nothing to be done. Also, while we there, we were uninformed about a delivery of a clothes washer which was an intrusion on our privacy during our stay at this idyllic place.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Manager was readily available and answered all questions. House was well organized and nicely decorated. Toys and books were definitely a plus for a toddler.

The off the grid style location was amazing and just what we were looking for. The views, sounds (ocean) and location were all idyllic and sublime. The house is cozy and lived in and would recommend it for just one couple or a couple with 1-2 kids who can take the cute room off of the large second floor bedroom. Block Island and this location made for a magical week of exploring.

We had an amazing long weekend at the Bluff House in May. The views and home were picture perfect. There was nothing we would change about it! We mostly ate at the local restaurants, but the house was well-stocked with anything you would need to cook meals there. There were plenty of towels and linens and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. We loved exploring the rocky beach and walking along the bluff. There are other homes nearby but it feels very secluded- nothing but the sound of the wind and waves. It's just a short drive to town and the more traditional, sandy beaches which were all easily accessible. One note I would mention to other travelers is to be mindful of the opening/closing dates for many of the restaurants there. They are not all open year-round. We were happy to be there in the off-season (prior to Memorial Day Weekend) but there were not many dining options open yet. Overall, it was a beautiful location and a perfect place to stay.

The house was spacious, cozy, and had an excellent view. We loved the secluded location, as well, and found it peaceful. Our only complaints are that many things were not clean or didn’t function properly. Most noticeably, a comforter on one bed was dirty; the washer was filled with mold; the kitchen cabinets cabinets and stove were very greasy and grimy; and several pots and pans were not clean in cabinets. There was also a toilet that wouldn’t flush (upon inspection we found the chain inside held together with a rusty paper clip that had broken), and the downstairs shower was difficult to get hot water from because of a broken faucet. With a deep cleaning an simple repairs, this would be a great place to stay.

The house is quiet, comfortable, remote and has spectacular views. We were so happy there.. took long bike rides during the day and relaxed on the bluff by night. We will definitely come back!

Words cannot describe how beautiful the views, the property and the home are! In desperate need for some rest and relaxation and to disconnect from the daily stresses, I was stalking all of the rental sites on Block Island, looking for a home with a view that would allow a dog. Upon finding this home, I knew I had to have it and Cullinan was so great in working with me so we both felt good about having my dog there, knowing his home would remain pristine and I would have a happy vacation with my best friend. Entering the home is like a spiritual experience and you can feel the years of happiness that all the guests have enjoyed there, it is soaked into the walls. You can't pass a window without experiencing an incredible view! Augusta was fabulous to work with, communicating with me about the dryer not working and helping me when the ferries were canceled due to a storm. I cannot say enough good things about this house, I have rented homes on BI for years and years and this one is incredibly special!! Can't wait to stay again!!

SW point is a great place to stay. Very quaint and perfect for star gazing at night. Amenities were ok, you have to be flexible as there is only 1 shower for the house.
We would certainly book this property again as the few lack of amenities do not outweight the location

This property is tucked at the end of a long road on the ocean. Beautiful views of the ocean and sunsets. We even experienced a hurricane passing way out and that produced high wind and very high surf. It was amazing. Saw deer every day and pheasants as well. We loved the open plan of the post and beam. They provided everything needed. I had a friend stop by with a 18 month old and they even had baby gates on hand. Thank you for sharing your home. We will come back again someday.

Loved the views! Especially sitting out on the deck. The house is a very open concept with very few doors. Made it feel very spacious. Wi-Fi was not powerful, so if you need Wi-Fi it was a bit of trouble. However they were installing new lines for internet while we were there. We all had an amazing week on the block.

Absolutely beautiful house and view. We’ve been renting on BI for years and this was the best house by far. It was exactly what we needed for a relaxing trip and Cullinan was a great host.

paradise
We had such an amazing stay with our family on Block Island at the Bluff House. The views are absolutely stunning. Our kids loved walking down to the rocky beach to look for crabs and we loved watching the sunset from the deck after our days exploring the island! We hope to be back again!

Springtime Stay
Easy check-in and check-out. A little difficulty following directions to get there but once there, awestruck with the surroundings and home. Peaceful and serene. Enjoyed the island and could spend all day just staring at the view.

House and location was better than we anticipated. Kids had a great time walking the beach every morning to see what the tide brought in. Will definitely be staying again!

I have been renting houses on Block Island for the better part of 30 years and have never rented one with such a spectacular view. Every room overlooks the water, facing west - so you get extraordinary sunsets, right here on the East Coast! The house is stunning - contemporary, open and soaring, tastefully decorated. For us the house worked perfectly, but families should be aware that the third bedroom (with two twin beds) is carved out of the primary bedroom, leaving no privacy - and in fact there is no door to the primary bedroom at all, which occupies the second floor. This is, to me, the most beautiful corner of the island, and being on the water (an easy path takes you there in two minutes) was like living on a boat. Loved it.

The property was as described. Located high above the surf with seals, boats, sunset views and moonlight at night. The rooms were great for lounging and rest. The satellite was out the whole time, but he island provided enough natural entertainment.
