About this house rental
Snave is an old sea captain's house on top of a hill overlooking New Harbor. It has old island antique furniture and all the comforts of home including outdoor shower. It also overlooks State Beach but because of the huge amount of growth, it is only a distant ocean view. There is a big front yard and also an area in back with picnic table and grill. It is very private and yet convenient to the beach and town.
There is a queen bedroom downstairs with a bathroom and a futon couch in the den. Upstairs there is one double bedroom with a small single bedroom attached and one bedroom with two twin beds and a queen bedroom and a bathroom.
Pets need to be approved as to the maturity of their behavior and, if approved, there is an additional $100 fee.
Rentals are by the week only in July and August except sometimes the very last week of August.

The house was a great retreat in a quiet spot. It’s a bit hard to find, but it was a great spot for our family visiting.

Great house, awesome porch. A little to far to walk to the beach. Loved it!

The Snave House was a perfect place for our two families to stay while attending our cousins weekend wedding on the island! The taxi system on the island was superb and got us from place to place without having to bring our car. The house was very clean and accommodating. Laurie has thought of everything you could need and just a text away if we needed her. I would definitely recommend staying here. Very lovely and peaceful home. Thank you Laurie!

As usual we enjoyed the Snave House…rolling meadows and close to all on block…

The home was fantastic, clean and exactly as pictured on the listing. Our group got stuck on Block Island due to ferry cancellations during a bad storm, and Laurie was very kind about letting us extend our stay. She was responsive and flexible during the bad weather, and we really appreciate her kindness during this somewhat stressful experience.

I considered this wonderful home a classic Block Island stay. We had seven adults and one infant and there was plenty of room. The beds were all excellent, it was well equipped for cooking and grilling and the location was quiet. We did not have a car, but between bikes, walking and cabs (the best Block Island modes of transportation) we had not trouble getting to the beach, restaurants. Looking forward to repeating this trip!

Plenty of room for 8 adult family members. Laurie kindly offered for us to stay an additional night for
free due to the horribly rainy day we had on Saturday. I also forgot my pillow there and she was quick to mail it back to me! Thank you Laurie !

We liked the antique decor, the roominess, comfort, and the large front porch! Also beautiful sunsets! Great location to all parts of the island. Three of our family were born on Block Island. This was a very memorable happy visit for four sisters and their niece!

The TV seemed to have a mind of its own. It would change channels without touching anything.

What a wonderful place to stay. Delightful 1840 house. Great porch, great master bedroom. View of the ocean to the east from the porch. Close (short walk up the road and a 100 yard bushwhack) to hiking the Greenway Trail. Altogether great!

Rustic and comfortable. Love the big porch. When the sun comes up in the morning it shines right onto the porch and it was wonderful to drink our coffee and enjoy the quiet beauty of this property. Easy walk to the Farmer's Market and just a bit further to Champlin's and Payne's for donuts or dinner.

We had a fantastic time staying in this property. We had a pretty good size group in for a wedding and there was plenty of space and beds for everyone to sleep comfortably! Only a 5 minute cab to get into town and walking distance to the Oar!

Snave House was ready when we arrived It is an antique to itself. If you are expecting modern this is not the place for you however, the kitchen is updated and was big for us to prepare our meals and a large pantry to store all the food that we brought. We had 6 adults. The view from the front porch was amazing. We used the porch for our breakfast and dinner. Lawn is huge to play games on. They allowed our dog which was a plus. The upstairs bathroom has a tub with a handle for the shower head.but Unable to stand up in due to slanted ceiling would be great for small kids but we had the full bathroom on the 1st floor with a full size washer and dryer and an outdoor shower. Plenty of books to read and board / card games to play during inclement weather. The owner is very attentive to messages sent. Due to its age it could use some updating We enjoyed our stay

We really loved our stay at the Snave House last week! The location was convenient and quiet, and close enough for a 20-minute brisk walk to the center of town. The house had everything we needed; the kitchen was well-stocked, plenty of towels in the bathrooms, the sheets and linens were clean and fresh, and there was laundry detergent available for the washer and dryer. The house was very clean. It is old, but we knew that and it was part of the charm. All the lovely little lamps throughout the house gave it a nice glow and ambience in the evening. It was quite chilly in the evenings, but the gas heaters warmed up the house quickly to a toasty, cozy warmth! The owner, Laurie, was so easy to work with. She replied quickly to any questions or concerns, and although we didn’t get the opportunity to actually meet her, she made herself readily available to us for any needs. We will definitely book the Snave House again should we get the opportunity to visit Block Island again!
