About this cabin rental
Bear Crossing Cabin is a comfortable, dog-friendly cabin on a hill overlooking Shadow Mountain Lake with panoramic views of mountains and national forest. Mount Bryant, with its natural crescent moon and sun shapes can be seen from the living room and the large deck. Our cabin is minutes from all the fun the Grand Lake area has to offer. Less than 10 minutes to Grand Lake Village, 13 minutes to the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, 5 minutes to County Road 4 and snowmobile trails, and less than 2 minutes to the Green Ridge public boat launch. We are 15 minutes to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at the Grand Lake Nordic center, 20 minutes to Ski Granby Ranch for a taste of alpine skiing, and only 40 minutes from Winter Park Resort for those seeking the thrill of Mary Jane.
This 2 bedroom 1.75 bath cabin is on over .75 acres of land and features a 300 square foot loft for reading, relaxing, game play, or for an extra sleeping area. We have a mini multi-game table that interchanges between table tennis and pool, and a variety of family-friendly games suitable for all ages.
Walk into the large, open great room and have a seat on the comfortable three-person couch, or cozy up on the over-sized chair with your feet up on the ottoman to watch TV or gaze out the window. Have dinner on the large deck or in the dining area. We have a very well stocked kitchen with all of your utensil and cooking needs. Sauce pans, fry pans, bakeware, cutlery, plates, cutting boards, and even a crock pot and blender are available for your use. We stay in the cabin too, and love to cook, so we made sure to stock the cabin with everything we (and you) would need for that purpose, including a chef's knife, utility knife, filet knife, and bread knife.
As you walk down the hall of Bear Crossing Cabin, you will find a large closet to your right that houses a washer and dryer for your use. A closet next to it houses a first aid kit...just in case that fish proves harder to filet than you thought! Continue to the end of the hallway and you will find a bedroom on each side. To the right is the master bedroom with a beautiful, custom-made beetle-kill pine queen-sized bed. You will also find a 6 drawer chest and a walk in closet that includes a laundry bag, an extra pillow, blanket, iron and ironing board, and additional duvets. Across the hall is the second bedroom with a 9 drawer dresser, a full length mirror, a large reach-in closet, and a custom-made rustic queen bed made from beetle kill and pallet boards. We know that not everyone sleeps on the same firmness of mattress, so each bedroom features a different level of firmness. The master bedroom has a luxury, Euro-top, moderately firm mattress. The second bedroom has a comfortable pillow-top for those who prefer a less-firm mattress and more of a sink-in feeling. We also have seasonal duvets to provide you the right amount of warmth in each season.
The master bathroom is en-suite to the master bedroom and has a shower. There is a full bath with a tub/shower combination in the bathroom in the hallway. We provide towel sets for all guests to be used in the cabin, but beach towels are the responsibility of guests.
Take a stroll from the living room out onto the large, wrap-around deck. We feature a patio dining table that seats six with an umbrella that is easily cranked open. The umbrella also tilts to accommodate various positions of the sun. Walk the deck towards the north side of the house and you will find a portion of the deck that is covered. This area houses our three-burner gas grill for your use, and a porch swing with mountain views and views of Shadow Mountain Lake.
To the south side of the house, you will find a fire-pit area with plenty of bench seating. Roast marshmallows for smores, or warm up in the evening while enjoying a starry night.
We love dogs and have two very large ones, so Bear Crossing Cabin is, naturally, dog-friendly. You and your fur friends will find a variety of flowers, fir trees, and aspen on the large property. At night, the foliage from this nature helps increase the feeling of privacy. We are also a short distance from a variety of dog-friendly hiking trails, including the Granby Pump Canal that carries water from Lake Granby to Shadow Mountain Lake, and a woodsy area with multiple trails where dogs can roam off-leash.
In addition to being dog lovers, we are art lovers and like to support working artists. Much of the decor was created by Colorado artists, and the beds, coffee table, outside cedar bench, and bed-side tables were custom-made by a family-owned company in Wyoming.
** Please note that this property features exterior audio and video security cameras for the entryway and driveway to ensure guest safety. These do not look into any interior spaces **
**We HIGHLY suggest you purchase trip insurance to protect your booking in the event of emergency or need to cancel outside of our policy**
We hope you enjoy Bear Crossing Cabin and all it has to offer as much as we do!
