Palmetto Dunes has earned this distinction by providing a world-class golf experience alongside vacations that will delight the entire family. PD is approximately 2,000 acres and offers three miles of sunny Atlantic Ocean Beachfront with three world class golf courses, an award winning tennis center and an 11 mile lagoon perfect for kayaking, fishing and exploring the pristine natural environment. Bike paths are located throughout the resort and lead to the beach. Bikes can be rented on site within the resort and delivered to our home. The PD General Store offers a food counter that is the best breakfast and lunch around!
The entire home is decorated in soothing coastal pallet. Entering the home, you will find a large brick foyer overlooking the den and dining area. There is one small step down to the den with rich hardwood floors, queen sleeper sofa with matching love seat and two swivel club chairs. The intimate den includes a large coffee table, end tables, big screen smart television with surround sound. The den is separate from the living room so plenty of space to spread out and watch movies or sports - your pick!
The foyer also leads to the large living room with new hardwood floors, accent rugs and a mirrored wall. The living room offers a 60" screen smart television with surround sound, a second queen sleeper sofa with matching love seat, two swivel club chairs, and an over-sized side chair. Additionally there is a bar-height table for 4 that is perfect for puzzles, games, snacks or meals. There are lots of games and puzzles to enjoy on your vacation in the cabinet nearby.
Located in the foyer is a large closet that is the location of the linens for the sleeper sofas and also is the "family clostet". I have included things parents might need like band-aids, beach themed bath toys (take a set home with you!) two booster chairs, plastic divided serving plates, pac n play, bicycle pump and misc. items you are welcome to use during your stay.
Also accessible from the foyer is the 1/2 bath that connects to the kitchen. The fully equipped kitchen has granite countertops, spacious center island, wall oven/microwave/warmer, electric cooktop and ASKO dishwasher. Ample appliances include a Keurig, regular coffee pot, waffle maker, quesadilla maker, Nutri-bullet and panini press. There is coastal themed dinnerware (set for 16) and acrylic glasses and plates for by the pool snacking. Off the kitchen is a four person countertop height table that overlooks the pool. Adjacent to the kitchen is a wet bar with copper sink, granite countertops, ample stemware and beverage cooler. Past the wet bar is the dining area that seats six. Located adjacent to the wet bar is a cabinet filled with plastic wear (bowls, silicone wine glasses, plates, etc. ) for pool side snacking!
The laundry room is located off the kitchen, just past the breakfast nook. There is a drying rack to use during your stay along with ironing board/iron.
The master bedroom suite is at the back of the house and offers a two-post king bed, antique desk, large leather chair, two new vanities and large walk-in closet. A black and white HP laser printer also supplied for your use.
The brick patio with pergola is accessed from two double doors off the master suite. Doors have roll up shade for privacy. There is a very large tile shower with double shower heads and privacy shade.
The remaining three bedrooms are located on a wing at the front of the house. There is a small step down from the foyer to the hardwood hallway that leads to a full a bath (turtle motif) with a walk-in tile shower, glass sliding doors and double vanities. The adjacent bedroom has two double beds with upholstered headboards, large dresser and new smart tv.
The third bedroom is very large and offers two queen beds and a separate seating area with a sofa and game/puzzle table. The bedroom offers a smart tv and DVD player. This area is especially for the "little ones" and has a toy box filled with fun to include blocks, trucks, wooden puzzles, etc. This area also has Color Wonder Paper and Markers and Adult Coloring books/colored pencils.
The fourth bedroom at the end of the hall, fronting the street, has one queen bed, two night stands with lamps and side chair. The third and fourth bedrooms share a full bath with a tub/shower.
The entire back yard is enclosed by either a black wrought iron fence or beautiful stucco walls with brick columns. An iron gate opens and leads you to the lagoon. The home sits at the mouth of the lagoon and the view is top notch. Watch the tropical birds and see the alligators bask in the sun. Outside the gate on the lagoon is a dock perfect for freshwater fishing or viewing wildlife from two polywood swivel bar stools.
Double doors off the dining area lead to the pool, which is very large in comparison to most in Hilton Head. A new liner was installed in fall 2023.There are three steps leading to the shallow end and a deep end with wall ladder. The pool is very private and offers both sun and shade during the day. There is a table for six with umbrella if you care to snack or dine by the pool along with a new gas grill. There are also 5 new Polywood loungers. We welcome you to bring your own floats, but ask that you take them out of the pool when not in use so the skimmers can operate effectively. There is also a hammock in the back yard to those nice summer afternoon naps while listening to the sounds of the low country. Just inside the gate overlooking the lagoon is a firepit. Put down a towel and "Sit by the fire on a cool evening and roast marshmallows with the family."

House needs to be deep cleaned. Pots and pans were dirty. Some linens and pillows in closets had marks on them. Baby booster seat filty. Closet in kitchen disorganized and smelled like fish. Outside are was very nice.

House is exactly as advertised, however, the pool may be better than advertised. Home has plenty of room and is well equipped. We enjoyed our stay.

My group was highly satisfied with this home. It was very spacious and clean and in a great location. The host was amazing and answered all my questions very quickly. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The men kept busy fishing in the lagoon behind the house while the women and kids enjoyed the large private pool in the backyard. We utilized the Dunes Buggy free transportation service to easily get to and from the beach each day. Highly recommend!

Wonderful location. Close to great dining! Carol was very prompt with any questions etc. great host! Pool is amazing

All my crew and myself certainly had a wonderful, "memory making" week here this past week. All was as advertised and actually even more than expected. The house is decorated very classy giving it a feeling of a real "beachy" type hominess making it a pleasant time just to sit around and enjoy the atmosphere. The oversize, gradual depth swimming pool is better/larger than any other we saw around the area-was clean and clear and classy with a company coming in to service it 2 x week. Plenty of pool furniture for lots of people-some in shade, some in sun just made it a perfect place to "hang out". Lots of pool play things for the kiddos. The deck at the head of the lagoon gives another great hang out place, it has perfect chairs for doing a little fishing( are some nice ones in there !! ) or just watching all the "action" going on there--as was stated , yes there are gators, but never intimidating or threatening-but fun to watch --and the turtles, and birds-just pretty surreal. Ok, you get the idea-kitchen nicely equipped plenty of tvs, games, and beach toys/equipment. House is nicely designed with 2 large hang out areas for any kind of fun things a family might want to do. We had 15 persons and felt no "crowdiness" at all. A nice location being close to a lot of things-mainly the beach-a little bit of a walk if walking but a breeze if bicycling. Strip mall and Krogers just a 5-7 bike ride away (Carol will tell you the "secret path" ). Says out of space here--We loved it !!

Host was accessible and accommodating. 4 spacious bedrooms, beautiful pool. Very private, located on a lagoon “cull de sac”. Lagoon was teaming with life, a plethora of turtles were always at the dock.
Standouts:
Awesome selection of spices, minimal work at checkout(cleaning crew takes care of most of it)
Very responsive and accommodating hostess. Favorite property on HH to date, would stay there again if available next visit.

Making a return to Hilton Head after an almost 20 year absence. Decided to go the VRBO instead of the traditional Hotel/Resort route. This house turned out to be in a great location, well kept, recently renovated, plenty of room to spread out and have your own space. That was just the house, the owner Carol was awesome to work with, great back and forth communications. Would definitely consider booking again if and when we return to HHI.

I’m getting married in December and we stayed here for a low-key girls weekend. The location was perfect and the pool was our favorite part! The property was perfect to hang around and cook big group dinners at. If you do plan to go out to eat outside the immediate neighborhood, allow yourself some extra time to get out or order an Uber. There is a general store and a wine bar within the Palmetto Dunes neighborhood that looked super cute as well. Overall the best trip and Carol was an amazing host!

We were a family of 8, in-laws and kids. The house is very spacious with plenty of options if someone wanted to watch tv whilst the kids played games. The kitchen has everything you need. The host was very east to contact. Kept me updated about trash service, pool cleaning. I would definitely stay here again. WE ALL LOVED IT!

We enjoyed our stay. Carol the owner was wonderful and very attentive to oir needs. We loved the location of the home and everything it had to offer. Would definitely visit again.

When booking for Hilton Head, we really wanted a central place, since we had never been there before! This was the perfect place to be right smack in the middle of the island! The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful!
Our vacation started the day that Hurricane Idaila was in her way to Hilton Head. We were a little nervous, coming from Utah and never really dealt with a hurricane before. It wasn't bad in the area we were in and we were very grateful for this beautiful home that we had to shelter in.
The swimming pool was a hit for the grandchildren, the large spacious layout was perfect for our family of 12 and Carol was wonderful in her communication with us!
The outlets and light switches were a little annoying, as there are so many and confusing to what they go to. The house could use a deep clean, but I'm sure we were at the end of the season and it had been used all summer.
We had a wonderful stay and many memories will be treasured for years to come!
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home!

The property needs some TLC. There were spiderwebs all over the house, the dishwasher was falling out of the cabinet, multiple light switches and outlets did not work, one of the skylights leaked a lot with each rain and the pool leaked. However, Palmetto Dunes is a very nice community and we enjoyed biking the area. The house is spacious and had a nice layout for our family.
4.9
The house did have several issues, the ice maker did not work, the dishwasher door hit the floor if you didn’t hold it, the pool needed a lot of work, a door knob came off, a skylight leaked. But otherwise it was comfortable and we had a good stay.
4.9
I was completely wowed by the level of communication with the host.
The house was big and roomy with all the needed amenities
Thanks for a lot of memories

We’ve been vacationing in Hilton Head for years and we always stay in Palmetto Dunes due to its superb location and overall well-kept appearance. Not to mention the cute General Store with its amazing breakfast and lunch, the Tennis and Pickleball courts, and bike riding throughout the gorgeous neighborhood.
This property exceeded our expectations. It is spacious and has a lot of room. The bedrooms are very accommodating with a cozy feel. We had a lot of favorites with this house: the huge master bath shower with towel warmer was my favorite, while the skylights over the long dining room table were my adult children’s favorite thing. And, of course, the large swimming pool was favored by all and did not disappoint! There were days we forgot about the beach that was nearby and stayed for hours in the private pool. The kitchen is well equipped but we mostly used the grill near the pool. The entire house is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. There was a minor issue which Carol and Todd addressed promptly. They are very kind and easy to work with. We loved our stay at this house. We never had a worry about forgetting something at home because it’d be provided at this house. If you’re looking for a great place, this one is it. We hope to visit again soon!

This house was the perfect escape for our family trip. We had a chance to make new memories and strengthen bonds. Every day in Hilton Head we made deposits in the memory banks of our children and grandchildren. We had such a wonderful time. My grandson was so excited to see a baby croc in the lagoon that is located right beyond the gated pool in Carol's yard. My family enjoyed the bike rides and easy access to the ocean from the house. I want to thank Carol for letting our family be a part of her beautiful home and vacation spot. Carol was so helpful in helping and planning our itinerary by making this trip a most memorable experience. We are looking forward to returning and enjoying future magical moments. Thank you again Carol for the wonderful time we had.

This was an incredible property, well maintained. We had 17 of us staying in the home and didn't feel crowded. The pool was a great hit with the Grands and the lake was a hit with my adult boys. We parked our cars and rode bikes everywhere. The property was close to the beach and shopping. Carol was responsive and easy to work with. I will consider coming back.
4.9
This property was great for our Family. Eight adults and 6 children. Our grandkids loved the dock on the lagoon. Caught lots of fish (catch and release), and saw lots of wildlife.
The property manage was very quick to respond to our questions and made sure we were taken care of.

We loved our spring break week at this house! Beautiful lagoon spot, very clean and spacious house with all the amenities. The host is friendly and open in communication. We enjoyed the large backyard pool & seating, bike rides through the pretty Palmetto Dunes neighborhood, Dunes House on the beach for tasty fish, and the beach area is spacious and great for walking. Easy travel to Shelter Cove, Coligny area (busier) and the lighthouse. We especially enjoyed the wildlife in our own backyard lagoon spot - frogs, a couple tiny lizards, birds, turtles and even a baby alligator. It was tough to leave!
4.9
The house was wonderful and just as it was advertised. It was very spacious and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent in every way!!! Would stay again if in the area!

This property was beyond our expectations! Spacious home for 3 couples. Two living rooms with more than enough space to relax. We used one room in the early morning, the other in the evening for a change of scenery. The kitchen was just wow! Many pots, serving pieces and plenty of dishes & glasses. The most seasonings we have ever seen in a vaca rental! Bedrooms were roomy & plenty of towels. The outside area is fantastic! Gorgeous pool & outdoor furniture. Peaceful lagoon where we saw deer, egrets, blue herons & turtles. Enjoyed going to The Dunes House on the ocean for drinks and apps. Carol was quick to respond to any questions I had before our arrival. Overall, I would say that this was the best VRBO rental we have ever stayed in! Looking forward to staying here again next October!

This house is amazing. Lots of space for our eight adults to move around & yet still be together. Kitchen well equipped & user friendly. Beautiful pool in spacious back yard with dock. Location close to shops & the numerous area restaurants. No complaints & we’ll definitely rent again.
4.9
This property was perfect for our large group of 6 adults and 3 kids 4 and under. The pool was amazing and the layout of the house is great for families. The neighborhood is beautiful and very bike friendly. The kitchen was very well stocked which is great if you plan on cooking a lot, which we did. I would definitely rent here again. Also, communication with Carol was great, she replies very quickly!

We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of thoughtful details throughout this home (especially for families with children) We particularly appreciated the plentiful, comfortable furniture in the living spaces, often lacking with rentals. There were some details that could use some love and repair, which I will bring to the seller's attention, but nothing that warranted contacting them during our stay. Head's up that the cleaners arrived minutes before check-in, and we were delayed in going in by about 45 min to an hour. Thankfully, it was a nice day and we were able to hang out in the backyard by the pool.
4.9
This is the second time we’ve stayed here and we love the home. The layout is perfect. The pool is wonderful and there’s so much to do on the island.
4.9
This property needs some love. There was a fair amount of deferred maintenance. Toilets not working, shower drainage issues, fan issues, etc. We had to have a plumber come out during our stay because of a toilet not functioning. It continued to be a problem so we just stopped using it all together. Also, we arrived right at check in but the house was still being cleaned. After driving many hours with small children, this was frustrating. The property manager was great in trying to make this inconvenience right, but nevertheless, it was still frustrating. All in all, the space is great and we had a great trip just a number of hiccups along the way.
4.9
We had a great stay. The pool is gorgeous, the area is beautiful, and the owners are very responsive.

Beautiful property
The house was amazing as well as the pool! It was hard to leave it to go to the beach! Wish we could have stayed longer. Peaceful surroundings, so many amenities for us to use to make our vacation easy. We used the Beach Buggy to take us to the beach and had no problems. This place is located very close to the bike path to take you across Hilton parkway which was a nice discovery too. If we had any issues or questions, Carol was VERY responsive and immediately took care of us. Highly recommend staying here!

Life in Palmetto Dunes
This is just a beautiful neighborhood. We enjoyed bike riding all over it, going to the General Store, the Dunes House and the beach. This house was well stocked with towels, and everything you would need for your stay. There were games and puzzles which we also enjoyed. The family enjoyed the pool and the dock, spotting turtles, heron, cranes and a tiny crocodile. Overall, we had a lot of fun.

Another great Palmetto Dunes vacation
If you are looking for a place to spread out and enjoy a quiet neighborhood close to everything, this is a good choice. You’ll need to overlook a few maintenance issues, but overall a good value. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Upon arrival the house was very clean and kept up nicely. The kitchen had anything and more that you would need to cook a meal. The back yard and pool area were great. We have stayed in Palmetto Dunes many times and the large pool was our favorite by far! Perfect home for a family vacation. The owners were also fantastic to work with. Any questions we had were answered extremely quickly. My wife forgot her necklace, and the owner went above and beyond to get it back to us. Overall, it was an awesome week and stay. A+

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this HHI home. If you are on the fence about staying here don’t be - you’ll love it! We enjoyed the backyard - of course the lovely pool - but the lagoon was a draw for all too! We enjoyed all of the wildlife! My grandsons especially enjoyed watching the large alligator and the other birds we don’t see in Michigan. (Don’t worry there is a fenced in yard). Fishing from the dock was a bonus. We probably caught the same fish a few times! Bring your fishing poles or grab from a local store.
The house was roomy and privacy was afforded to all and was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked so we enjoyed some cooking together. The neighborhood is just lovely too. We even saw deer around the house and around the neighborhood. One warning … you’ll often find yourself asking how can we move here to this neighborhood too? The owner, Carol, was a delight and easy to work with too! Enjoy your stay! : )

Quiet house in a great location
Property and house was well maintained. In the middle of the island and had easy access to everything. House was loaded with anything you would need from a grille to a blender and coffee maker. Carol was very responsive as well. Would stay here again for sure!
