Really nothing bad to say. View was great, plenty of beach equipment full kitchen. Would stay again.

The condo was perfect except no smokin ANYWHERE on premises. They made me go out to the street and at night that is not the safest place to be.

We enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for my husband and myself. We never did receive our check-in info prior to arriving, however as soon as I sent a message a response was immediately received with easy check in instructions and an apology. We have previously stayed on this side of the island so knew what to expect; travel times to other parts of the island. It is out of the hustle of Waikiki, which we appreciate. Great ocean views and access to the beach. Everyone at the complex were very nice; staff and local residents:)

Loved being so close to sand and water. Loved the sound of waves going to sleep and waking up.

This lodging has been very convenient for us. The description is accurate. The studio is well equipped. Shopping for food is not far, at Wai'anae. Communicating with the owner/rental agency prior to coming has been difficult.

Love being able to stay on the beach and be so close to family who live here on the Leeward side of Oahu!

Makaha Shores is great place to visit and all we had hoped. It was a very clean, safe property, nice warm pool, friendly neighbors and a nice BBQ area. Ming was very helpful and quick to reply when we had a question. The condo had everything we needed, was very clean, and the beach/ocean view was fabulous! A little bit of paradise at a very reasonable price. We hope to return for sure!

Great views from balcony and beautiful beach. Condo needed fixes to screen and sliding doors and lights. Neighborhood description was not at all accurate. Lots of homeless and decent local eateries were difficult to find.

Clean, comfortable, secure property on the beach at Makaha Shores. The pool was very clean. Nice bbq area with two propane grills that got nice and hot. Propane was always full. Bed and linens were very comfortable. The view was outstanding. Ming was very responsive and sweet. Would definitely stay again. The only thing that was odd was check in. We arrived after hours so we filled out the check in/parking form and attempted to bring it to the office in the morning, but could never find the manager. She kept taping more checki in sheets to our car and unit door. We ended up giving it to the maintenance man. Nothing happened; it was just weird.

The condo was cozy and had everything we needed. Only downside was the unit wasn't ready at check in time.

Everything good except for the people smoking marijuana. And I get a tag on foot for pulling into garage with a cigarette. But I apologize and did not have any more. This is a beautiful place thank you so much for letting us stay!!

We really enjoyed this stay here. So much to do and not crowded. Looking forward to coming back sometime.

YES,parking to this unit is tight b/c of a post,so don’t rent an SUV if staying here, but it’s covered which is nice so your rental isn’t constantly in the sun. The loud music by locals on the beach happened 1 night out of 7. A call to police stopped it in less than 5 minutes. The condo itself is very quiet & there’s no noise after 9. As for locals yelling at us? Never, not once. Locals were the nicest, most polite people ever! The tent cities lined up along Fairington Hi-way on the beaches thru Waianae B4 getting to the condo are rampant. Lots of homeless people, but they don’t bother you. Once you get to Makaha Beach & the condo, there’s none. It’s a quiet, beautiful beach with locals surfing, boogie boarding,& groups in outriggers racing early morning or late eve. 1/2 way thru OUR stay,a filming crew took over the beach to film a movie! That was fun to watch!
The condo is older, but so well maintained inside & out,you feel like you’re staying in a new place. Awesome views! New cupboards, countertops, the bathroom is all new,but door to unit & lanai doors are older. The unit is very well equipped! Even a cooler we used DAILY for lunch picnics. Sadly the beach umbrella was broken. I do wish there was an ironing board, even a tabletop 1,since they had an iron. There’s NO AC! A.M. & eve is fabulous with fans provided, open lanai doors & louvers on unit door(best sleeping ever!)but have plans to be gone 10a.m.-7p.m.,it gets warm in there. Want remote & beautiful? This is it!

Flight landed at 12:30, at 3:30 still no word from manager as to check in codes. Called VRBO to get codes. Manager finally called me around 4:30. The room not cleaned/ready “I forgot you were coming, I’ll try to get someone out to clean unit”. At 9:00 pm we finally decided to just head to the room… still wasn’t clean (in process). After cleaning person left (9:30) we observed…mold around shower, mold in coffee pot, no sheets on bed (had to make bed ourselves), old food left in refrigerator (not cleaned), no working wi-fi. This was unacceptable. We got a full refund for 7 nights. Good price for a hotel if you don’t mind mold or places that aren’t clean.

As a first time user of VRBO I wasn’t familiar with the process and how things would turn out. I’m happy to say everything went well and would do it again. The condo was perfect for me and me young daughter. She enjoyed her trip and so did I.

This property is located adjacent to the best beach on Oahu. The surfing during wave season is amazing and the swimming and snorkeling during the reminder of the year is wonderful. The property itself is well equipped with all that you need including beach chairs, beach towels, snorkeling gear, sunscreen, spices (the coffee maker needed some attention),full sized appliances-everything you need for a perfect stay. This unit’s parking space is extremely tight-anything over a midsize car is a challenging fit. Driving to the unit you pass many homeless encampments but the unit itself is very secure. The view from the unit is amazing!!! We required assistance from Ming and she was amazing as well. This unit is one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. Oh and, the Thai/Viet food truck at the beach is absolutely delicious!

Great time...only disappointing thing was some of the locals yelling at you out in the waves!

Condo is from the 70’s but has been upgraded. Nice views of beach and ocean. Friendly environment. Loud music from beach annoying at times. Property manager missed a message I sent regarding an issue that need immediate attention. She contacted me a day later and was apologetic. Just an honest mistake. We enjoyed our time here and would definitely consider staying again.

Generous size (for a studio) apartment in an amazing position, overlooking beautiful Makaha beach.

Absolutely as described and better. Gorgeous view of both the beach and mountains, and extremely well stocked kitchen, bathroom, and beach accessories. Parking was straightforward and the building staff are friendly and helpful. Even on the weekends, there is plenty of space to spread out on the beach and enjoy the ocean. If getting off the beaten path on Oahu is what you are looking for, this is the place.

So over all the property was okay. Although there was a few things we weren’t aware of. One, this studio is located on the west side of the island we’re most of the homeless population lives, we weren’t aware we had to check in our rental car with the management office, and lastly our first night we noticed cockroaches inside the unit. I let the owner know and she sent a cleaning crew within the day. There’s also no actual AC unit. There’s 2 electrical fans (which were very dusty) and 1 ceiling fan. We tried to be out during most of the day and just come to the unit to shower and sleep so at the end of the day it was okay.

My wife and I stayed here for 10 days. Overall the property is great and has plenty of accommodations. Here are our pros and cons.
Pros:
1. Affordable rental away from high tourist areas
2. Right on the beach w/ beach access
3. Parking included
4. Room is fully stocked with necessary vacation items. I.E. snorkeling gear, towels, linens, chairs, toiletries, cooking equipment/utensils.
5. On site coin-op laundry for longer trip renters
Cons:
1. Parking space/garage is tight
2. No A/C in unit but 3 fans included in rental
3. Far from attractions, highly recommend rental car.
4. Beach can be noisy at night as other reviews have stated.
Ming was very helpful and accommodating, and the pros far outweighed the cons. Just know that this location is really for those that want to be away from tourist areas, however the drive to and from the rest of the island is amazing and an experience in itself. Bottom line: Highly recommend this rental.

We had a great time at Makaha. The only thing that was not mentioned in the listing is that you have to walk up a half flight of stairs to get to the elevator.

Directly on the beach with surfers out all day. 3 minor issues 1. A guy plays loud music on the beach below you sometimes until 9 pm. 2. Unit had everything you will need except beach chairs. Neither one of these would deter me from renting this unit again.

We stayed at this same complex in 2019, but in a different condo. This condo was so much nicer and roomier. We had an amazing view of the ocean, and with the balcony doors open you can hear the ocean 24/7 and a fabulous ocean breeze. Kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with anything you could ever need. I have one recommendation for the owner. One or two beach chairs would have been a plus for the trips to the fabulous beach. I recommend this condo to everyone!

Overall a good place to stay. You do have homeless further down on other beaches but the beach the property is on doesn't have any. Beyond the owners control was loud music until up to 2AM and fireworks every night until 10 or 11 PM. In the owners control is the place could use some maintenance. Especially the screens up by the ceiling. They are not flush against the sills so we had lots of mosquitoes come in at night and got lots of bites. One of the screen doors also needs fixed as it has ends up having a gap where mosquitoes get in. If you can handle all that it is a beautiful place stay. Beach gate access is wonderful. We got to see two seals that played in the water for an hour and then they napped on the beach for two hours.

Listening to the surf of the ocean and watching the 30 or more daily surfers was mesmerizing all from my lanai.

This condo is very clean and a great place to stay for a long trip. Do be aware it has no AC but they did have fans which did help keep the temperature down. The full kitchen made it easy to stay in and cook meals. It had an amazing view of the ocean which also was very enjoyable to hear every morning and night. It was such a nice place to stay on our honeymoon. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

The view can’t be beat, perfect view of mountains and beach. The beach is mostly calm and it’s gorgeous, but kind of rocky and we stepped on urchins. I’d just recommend some swimming slippers/shoes to protect your feet. The beach is very quiet and not at all crowded.
The room itself is clean and well maintained. It was very hot while we were there because the trade winds weren’t coming across the water, but we survived nights with a fan. I’d recommend not spending hot days in the room, as soon as the sun comes over the mountain it is warm. The facility was very strict on the rules, and there seemed to be a lot of rules. You won’t be able to use many towels without washing them, you can only have one load of bedding & towels at the end or it’s a fine. It is older, but even with the heat it was really nice. Great water pressure too.
The area is NOT a tourist area. You won’t find tourist trap shops or little tiki bars with fruity drinks on this section of the island. It is more locals than tourists, and there are a lot of homeless. They never bothered us at all, but there are a lot of homeless camps nearby. For Americanized food you’ll either have to drive down to the southern side of the island, or the far southern west side. Everything nearby is local, lots of food sold from tents and vehicles. Get a car and plan to spend a lot of time in it , but so worth it to have that amazing view and quiet beach!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this unit. I was concerned that it would be overly hot during these summer months but once you opened things up the winds kept it totally comfortable. Ming was easy to be in contact with. The bed is SO comfortable. Good selection of linens/pillows/towels. Kitchen is very well equipped and easy to use. Being close to the ocean corner of the building provided for fantastic views of both the beach and ocean. Lively music on Friday and Saturday nights but it shut off early enough to not bother sleep. Well equipped with water shoes, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, flippers, etc. As always the saltwater pool is delightful and the building residents are friendly. Highly recommend.

This is ideal for those who are looking for a genuinely tranquil experience. The condo is on the edge of town. A couple of miles from grocery stores and restaurants there is easy access to all that you could need. No AC needed, as the cross breezes keep things cool day and night. You're right next to a public beach so you may hear music, especially on the weekends. But it is always super quiet at night. For those looking for super calm waters and lots of turtles, head to Pokai Bay Beach Park, just down the road. The condo is well equipped, with lots of beach toys, towels, and everything you need. Ming was quick to respond to calls and was very helpful, providing great suggestions on local restaurants, things to do, etc. Hoping to stay here again and again.
