THE SPACE
The villa’s multi-level living spaces all open to ocean breezes and tropical gardens with exotic sounds and scents from the local flora and fauna. The original owner lived in Casa Samba with his family, sparing no details to make this a unique and exquisitely designed Balinese style home. The cathedral bamboo open beam ceilings, hand-carved stone and glazed earthenware custom sinks, custom stonework and tile, exotic hardwoods and original art from around the world make this a truly outstanding vacation home.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Pacific Canyon Drive is a private gated neighborhood set-off the main Manuel Antonio road. It is a community built by expats that wanted the comforts of modern luxury living within a tropical beach town. All conveniences and necessities are available by bus, taxi or walking distance.
A letter from a happy guest:
Dear Valerie,
All of my family have arrived homely safely. I want to take this opportunity to thank you, Fernando, Ricky and Junior for everything you‘ve done for us at the Tree House during our stay. Considering the uncertainty and stress brought about by the Corona Crisis, your team managed to create a relaxing oasis for us, while over days we juggled airline and consulate call centers trying to secure our way back home to Europe. Your kindness won’t be forgotten. We hope to return again next year.
In the meantime, I wish you the best of health and a quick and safe return to normalcy.
Best regards,
Karen

This house was everything advertised! The views were beautiful and the house had plenty of rooms and bathrooms to fit our family of nine. We saw abundant wildlife from the house view , including Macaws , Toucans, Coati, lizards and monkeys. You could just enjoy Costa Rica from this home, but we enjoyed A few good tours also arranged by the host of the house. The house does have a lot of stairs, but after a few days you start getting used to them, but put the young people in the top rooms! We really loved our experience and the people were all lovely

The house is just as advertised - very comfortable, beautiful, and the views cannot be beat! We had plenty of fun monkey visits. The management team was great - arranged dinners, excursions, taxis, etc. We had chef Marco make dinner for us on two nights and both dinners were just delicious.

Our stay at Casa Samba was absolutely incredible. The view and wildlife experiences were better than described. Our host was in constant contact with us prior to the trip - as well as while we were there. The rooms and amenities were everything we needed and well beyond our expectations. We absolutely loved our trip and fell even more in love with Manuel Antonio.

3rd time to CR, Best one yet! Five couples, flew into SJ and traveled to MA for six nights.
Spacious with breathtaking views of MA. Monkeys came to the house everyday, saw two sloths, iguanas and Toucans. Howler moneys were very loud at night!! Through our host we had a personal chef, two meals day, which was amazing!! Very cost effective for a big group. Our house had daily maid and laundry service included. Personal concierge helped with taxis and groceries as needed.
We had a full day waterfall tour arranged through our host and Tropical Waterfall tours. Had three guides that were very informative on CR facts and history. Visited 4 waterfalls and a beach, and then had a fantastic lunch on a cliff side in restaurant.
We visited the beaches through Surf Horizon beach service, which I would highly recommend, transported us, set up chairs and helped with any vendor services on the beach.
Only recommendation would be to upgrade the mattresses/pillows other than the house was fantastic! Plenty of room for our large group! Highly recommend!!

The house was perfect with an amazing view of Espadilla beach and Manuel Antonio park. The pool was a refreshing end to a day of tours and we enjoyed relaxing on the deck each night. We saw parrots, lizards, and lots of monkeys from the house. Our concierge, David, did an amazing job and was always on hand to help out with anything we wanted. And Chef Carlos cooked some great dinners so that we didn't have to worry about meal planning for a few of our nights there.

The 10 of us all 60+ thoroughly enjoyed this property with the wonderful views of the Pacific and the many animals and birds. But just warning others there are a lot of steps. 51 up from road to first level and another 52 to the top level.

The house and staff were incredible. The only thing that topped the beautiful views were the monkeys that came around every morning and evening. I would definitely recommend this home. One word of warning, a lot of steps but so worth it.

We loved everything about this place. It is perfect for an active group of all ages. Lots of steps!

We were determined to see as much as we could from the porches on the house and we DID. Toucans, macaws, sloths, howler, squirrel, and white- faced Capuchin monkeys, Garrabo iguanas. The view was amazing - right in front of us. Only suggestion to make it better is to have lots of plastic ziplock bags because you're in a jungle and there are lots of ants. Don't put down your coffee cup! LOL!
Roxy, who cleaned, was terrific. She even washed & folded our clothes for us. David, our concierge, was extremely helpful in arranging transportation and answering all the many text questions we sent.
We also had chefs come to the house to prepare 3 meals for us. What a treat and absolutely delicious.
Kudos to all who made the trip a memory we won't ever forget.

Everything about the property was perfect. I was there with my adult children & their families - a group of 11. There was plenty of open space for everyone to spend time together, and also plenty of space for each family to have separate areas. The views were amazing, and we loved our visitors - lots of monkeys & iguanas. We did not use the personal chef since we wanted to try the local restaurants. The daily maid service was great, especially considering all the cutbacks other places have made since the start of Covid. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!

We rented this house (group of 10) and so happy we did. Everyone, from the property management & concierge were extremely nice and helpful, and responded quickly. The house had a great layout but one thing I would say is that there are a ton of stairs inside to get up to the rooms. I would say its not the best for an older crowd. And the stairs in the entrance are very steeps, take that into consideration when hauling luggage up to the home. But aside from that, the views were amazing, wildlife was everywhere, chefs were great. Would definitely stay here again!

The overall experience as fantastic. Our host Gary really helped make the experience worth while. All transportation from the San Jose airport to our stay (about 2.5 hour drive) was easily arranged. The villa we stayed in was beautiful with jungle views and some ocean views. Now of course because the environment is rainforest like the one thing you must be mindful of are bugs and small critters. Just be sure not to leave any food or drinks out because the ants will definitely find them I can promise you that. Also make sure to bring some bug spray both repellents and some for killing bugs like raid as an example. The villa was located in a safe area and has a main gate and an attendant at the entrance. You also get a gated door leading up to the property that you can lock. The property is also equipped with safes in each room for extra security. We left our passports in there just to be on the safe side, because we also had a maid service. There’s a ton of local food options none of which are in walking distance but can be a short 5min taxi ride. There’s also some pretty steep hills by the property too so just keep that in mind if you do decide to walk around a bit. A final precaution which is completely unpredictable is the possibility of losing power it happened to me during my stay but didn’t last too long it was back on within a couple hours or so. Luckily we had candles that also repelled some of the insects which was a plus, especially if your spending time on the top floor where the pool table is located. This part of the property is the most open, and is exposed to the outside environment. You’ll also definitely see some monkeys and maybe even some iguanas or bearded dragons, especially if you stay in the master room which was beautiful. All in all I’d give this stay a 10/10, and I can’t wait to book another trip definitely we’ll worth it especially if you have a group with you.

We enjoyed our stay in Costa Rica, there are a few things I wish I would’ve known. The monkeys come every day so there wasn’t really a need to pay a tour guide at the national park to point out monkeys. Also the beach at the national park was far superior to the one closest to the house , I wish I would’ve worn a swimsuit to enjoy it. There are lots of bugs ! I wore a natural insect repellent at night and didn’t get too many bites but some of us had many. The master bedroom isn’t sealed tight so bugs can come through the sliding door, keep the lights low! Overall it was great and we didn’t need a car rental and there are many good restaurants within walking distance. It could be tough though for someone older because the hills are steep

Great house with plenty of space. Gary the host is amazing along with Roxie the housekeeper. Junior was our chef and he was outstanding. The food was the best we’ve had with the fish we caught on a charter that day.

Casa Samba is a remarkable villa in a fantastic location in an incredible country. I know that is a lot of adjectives to describe someplace, but they are well deserved. We had 8 travelers: 2 couples, 2 young adult children and their significant others. The girls were able to share a queen size bed in the casita, which also had a unique open air shower, and the boys were in the lower level 2 bed bedroom. One couple had the second floor bedroom and the other couple had the 3rd floor bedroom.
Costa Rican houses have an open air concept so be prepared for that. The common areas are not airconditioned, but don't need to be, and the bedrooms are airconditioned.
The pool and adjacent porch areas were well used by us as the view was spectacular. The pictures on the website are very accurate.
One of our absolute highlights was having Chef Junior and his assistant David cook us an amazing dinner on our last night in Manuel Antonio. The food, the presentation and the quality is something that we should have utilized more during our stay, but then who knew? Now we do.
I highly recommend Casa Samba as a vacation place for group visits to the Manuel Antonio area. You won't be disappointed.

This gorgeous home with even more gorgeous views was perfectly located for the things that we wanted to do. Roxie, the housekeeper, was great. Our private dinner prepared by the chef, was off the charts delicious and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend this home to other travelers.

Casa Samba, was a beautiful, clean well equipped Villa to stay in with my family. We truly enjoyed our stay! I would definitely stay again

Our family rented this home along with the property next door for a week. The property is located on top of the hill so you have lovely view and a breeze that cools things down during the warm part of the day. The pictures represent the property and the pool was an extra bonus. Valarie suggested we book Chief Junior to prepare our breakfast and dinner for the week. We had lovely meals and I wish I could have brought him and his assistant home with me. Our Grandchildren played in the pool until dinner was served and each night the food was special. Thankfully Valarie recommended booking a private driver for a van of eleven people from the airport to the home. That certainly made things stress free. We also book various tours with Valarie. The housekeeper comes six days a week so everything stayed nice in the house. The children enjoyed seeing the monkeys and one iguana came daily on the porch.. I recommend this property and I recommend you book Chief Junior and private driver and tours through Valarie.

I will start by saying be prepared to walk some steps. Good news is that after a week in Casa Samba we didn’t gain a pound. That being said this house is magnificent. Every bit as gorgeous as the pictures and the view wasn’t done justice by the pictures. Every single morning the view of the Pacific took our breaths away. Prior to arrival Valerie could not have helpe any more than she did. Her recommendations were spot on and she made the entire vacation seem so easy and worry free before we ever landed in Costa Rica. Once there Gary was more than happy to help, whether get someone to translate, recommend a restaurant, or arrange transportation. Roxie, while I never saw her, I also never had to worry about towels, clothes, or anything else around the house. Chef Junior cooked the most fantastic meal I’ve ever had. We called to tell him that we had caught enough fish to feed everyone the day before and he seemed genuinely excited to cook thenfish for us. That meal will never be forgotten. It was fabulous. The entire team was the icing on the cake that was a beautiful house. I would truly have to search for something to complain about. Daily visits from the monkeys were a highlight as was the sloth in the tree above our deck. The pool was clean and cool which was nice after a long day in the heat and humidity. I understand the allure of the infinity loom to a pool in a mountain but it was a tad unnerving for this father of three young boys. For me I’d like to see some sort of optional/ removable retaining system installed either below the wall or along the ledge. As for recommendations, I’ve already recommended this house to 4 friends who are planning on traveling to Costa Rica.
