Paradise with all the comforts of home

We arrived quiet late due to delay with our flight but Raymond, our host, was still waiting for us with a smile by the cottage. The first thing that catches your eye are the views even before entering the property but then once you go down and you see it all it just takes your breath away. We loved the property, perfectly well equipped for anything you might need. Raymond had a beautiful basquet with lots of products as a welcome pack ready for us. We really enjoyed it! We loved being in the terrace or even inside the cottage with the front panel of sliding doors open and just staring at the panoramic landscape. Raymond explained us all in regards to the cottage and really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. After spending 6 beautiful days in the cottage it was really difficult to part from the sounds of the birds, the colours of the nature, the clouds, the skies... Its a real paradise but thanks to the warmth and hospitality of the host it feels like home from home. A place to disconnect from everything and enjoy nature at its best!! Thank you for everything, Raymond. We hope to be back soon to your beautiful paradise.

We had fun all the time, despite the mosquitos or the rain,even the wind painted a different landscape by the second, one you never ever get tired of looking at!

What can we say that has not been said? Just book it! :-)

What can we say that has not been said? The view and location is phenomenal. The road to get there is a bit tricky but doable in a small rental car like ours. Where to begin: - house is super nice and clean and cosy - everything you need is in the house: kitchen utensils, toiletries, candles, ... - we got a tasty rum as a welcome present! - the location is spectacular - we did have noise from the building next door but that is not something the owner can control .. - we saw many birds: the bulbuls, phaetons, lots of bats in the distance, excellent! - we had a lot of rain one night and day when we were there but we could still open the terrace doors and it's so cosy it really didn't bother us - and when the sun came out it was just spectacular If you need to relax this is the place. Don't hesitate. The surrounding nature & wildlife is so beautiful. It is worth the price.

Abschalten im Paradies

Der Ausblick ist ein absolutes Highlight. Die Papageien zu beobachten war mir das Liebste am Abend. Die Abgeschiedenheit lässt einen absolut zur Ruhe kommen.

Leider war das WLAN etwas schwach bzw. Wackelig. Im Schlafzimmer gibt es weder Tür noch Vorhang zum WC. Der Mitbewohner muss also immer gleich das ganze Schlafzimmer verlassen und nachts ist das natürlich auch etwas laut 😅

My wife and I recently stayed at Green Cottage Chamarel, and it was truly wonderful. The cottage, nestled in nature, offered a serene escape from daily life. Le cadre, la vue est exceptionnelle. Ce magnifique cottage situé au milieu d´un parc nous a enchanté. Seuls au monde avec tout le confort, l´espace intérieur extérieur et cette grande baie ouverte sur l´exterieur... La gentillesse du propriétaire ajoute encore du plaisir.

An Enriching Experience!

Our stay at the Green Cottage was a perfect getaway from the buzz of city life. It’s an absolute gem and suited our family of 5 really well. The host is friendly, warm and welcoming. The views and the scenery we experienced every morning was breath taking. The walks in the forest, the sounds of the birds and the silence of the nights are the perfect recipe for anyone seeking to reconnect with nature and self. Additionally, it’s close proximity to Chamarel falls, Curious Corner and Ebony Forest made it much easier for the kids to explore, discover and experience so much. An enriching experience overall. Thank you Raymond for having us! Hope to visit again.

Heavenly

The location in the mountains next to the ebony forest was great. It was lovely to be able to go for walks, sit and watch the birds and just be tranquil. It was sunny on arrival and rainy the next day but the location was so great that it was lovely to spend time watching the view and relaxing. The kitchen provided everything we needed. The wifi was excellent and the bed very comfortable.

Nothing can be improved.

Stunning secluded place with a huge garden/private forest and a killer view.

The Green cottage is really sometning else. It's big. It's stylish. It's comfortable. It has a killer view. You can see the whole valley of Chamarell with distant village ligths at night, the many forrested hills of the national park and of course the highest peak of Mauritius, all of that while sitting at the table. It's on a huge plot cosisting of a large steeply sloping garden, small papaya orchard, a group of coffee bushes, many young araucarias, lots of tree ferns and some of my favourite malagasy palms. It even has some of it's own private forrest. It has a very secluded feeling. It's guiet there except for birds singing every day, all day and from time to time you can even spot a flying fox. During COVID, while locked in, I dreamed of a beautiful hidden place in nature - this is it, only for real.

We couldn't stay there longer! :-) The driveway is about 1,5 km long and a bit scary looking - esentially only two stripes of concrete winding trought the forrest. You need to drive slowly and carefully, but you can manage in a normal road car. Yes, there are mosquitoes outside in the evening. You know, it's in a tropial forrest. There are mosquitoes in forrests. Sufficient anti mosquito devices are provided by the property. The confy couches in the main living space would be great for reading but there is no reading light near them.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

I picked Green Cottage for my father’s 75th birthday and the whole time we stayed there we were blown away by the sheer natural beauty of our surroundings. The location was perfect for the four of us; everything was well thought of and provided without us having to ask for anything. We woke up to splendid views and went for morning walks in the nearby woods for a good dose of fresh air. The well equipped kitchen allowed us to cook delicious meals and even bake a birthday cake with few basics. We wish to thank Mr Raymond for his hospitality and attention to detail making our staycation a magical one. Hope to be back soon.

Our 2 nights stay was too short. Should book for longer next time 😊

Only wish we could have stayed here longer!

The location in the hills above Chamarel is absolutely spectacular and the cottage could not be lovelier. It is beautifully appointed and outfitted with everything a guest could need, from hair dryers to all the kitchen basics you need to cook a meal. Raymond is a warm, thoughtful and very organized host and we very much appreciated his welcoming hospitality.

This is a very special place

So, this is honestly maybe the most unique accomodation I have been at. Place is very special, located on the end of a forrest road inside a park. The road is paved so you can access the cottage also with a basic car. It is place where you can find peace and you can observe the nature like you are in a camp in a jungle, but with high level of standard. Still you are just few minutes away from a good restaurant, hike or other interesting places. Cottage has everything you need and also some more. Owner really does think about every detail(i.e sharp knifes in kitchen, quality of kitchen tools). There is hot water(very hot), heaters for drying clothes etc. everything you need for comfort. Cottage is situated on a huge private land with papayas and well maitaned garden. You can see lot of animals, flying bats with sunset and birds singing all day long. This cottage is almost everytime booked and I know why it is. You will hardly find a similar place. It is suitable with kids.

There was nothing that I did not like. You are in a jungle so expect mosquitos, geckos, some bugs that can enter the cottage. But this is not a minus. Also weather is changing fast and there can be a lot of rain - but even when it is a rainy day, it has unique atmosphere

A surreal experience. We will definitely be back!

The chalet is absolutely amazing, with breathtaking views and a serenity that feels other-worldly. The surrounding forest is beyond beautiful, and offers a peaceful escape from busy city-life. This small vacation was just ethereal. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Raymond for his kindness and help, and for being such a considerate host. We simply cannot wait to be back again.

Everything was perfect. There is truly nothing negative that can be said about this place.

Exceptional

The cottage has an olden day charm that one seldomly can find in today's world. It is extremely well designed, everything is of the best quality. From the shower gel to the linen, the crockery and the furniture and fittings. Not to mention the immaculate garden which overlooks the breathtaking Chamarel valley. There is ample space so our 3 boys, 8, 6 and 2 years old, loved running around and exploring. The activities at Coloured Earth, waterfall, zip lining and especially the hike at Ebony forest are most certainly worth while. A definite MUST visit!

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the world, the setting is magnificent, the serenity wonderful and the owner very friendly. The place is wonderfully set up. Makes for a great break from it all with your favourite human.

Amazing!

It had everything we could possibly have needed. The kitchen was full of things, the fridge large, the mozzie stuff was plentiful and worked well! The views were outstanding. It was easy to find. Perhaps the best thing for me was seeing all the birds I wanted to see! So excited to see a kestrel with a lizard fly past! Also a lovely walk nearby I saw some flycatchers, also a tropic bird that nests nearby.

There was nothing we didnt like!

Pure magic in the Chamarel forest

We instantly fell head over heels for this classy cottage in the mountains. Everything you could possibly need, was present in the cottage. Stunning view, gorgeous emplacement and serene atmosphere. This is the place to be if you want to unwind and enjoy nature. We could easily spend a week here. Strongly recommended! Thank you for an unforgettable experience, R!

Decouple from daily live and dive into nature.

All the cutting knives are completely blunt, which makes it really difficult and exhausting to prepare food.

Besides the breathtaking view, so many small detailes make this an awesome and unforgettable stay (decoration, equipment, bond fire already set up,...)

Peaceful escape in the woods!

We booked this place for our 2nd year anniversary and we cannot stop raving about this place with our peers! It is a beautiful place, has a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounging area with lots of blankets and throws for when it gets cold! We thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace during our whole stay there and also enjoyed the fire-pit on our celebration night with some great bbq! We also also recommend trying the Shinrin Yoku which felt very relaxing and helped us to connect back with nature! Thanks again to Raymond for this wonderful stay :D

We wish we could stay for longer - but we are looking forward to stay over again in the near future.
