Definitely a Family cabin

Cabin very roomy. An extra 1/2 bathroom maybe would’ve been better for so many people.

The moment we turned into the street we fell in love with the view. The house was cleaned and organized. No problems whatsoever. We really enjoyed our time there, there was no wifi, but we didnt lose cell reception, a little slow but we could manage, not an issue. Thank you for everything.

Beautiful cabin located conveniently close to Pinecrest with more than enough room for all my friends and family.

The house was just perfect size for our family. The kids enjoyed the VHS Disney movies. It was quiet and secluded but perfect distance to the hiking trail and lake. We would love to come back every year! Thank you for plenty of towels and bed linens.

It was a very nice place. My family a good time. The couches were a little old you would slide off and the cushions would not stay in place.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cabin. Was a little warm and had to deal with too many yellow jackets but we had a great time. The grandkids loved the lower level of the cabin with the air hockey. Not a far drive to the lake. Was a pleasant stay. Thank you.

We were not having much plans for outing. The lake is just a 10 minutes drive. Most of the time at home enjoying food and company with friends and family. Even we are group of 13 didn't much really realised we have only two bathrooms.

Great for family with kids
This was our second year renting this cabin and it is perfect for a large group with kids!! The kids absolutely love the loft area to play and sleep. Having their own space makes it so much more fun for them. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and utensils for a full house. Also, Darlene is an AMAZING host and after 4 years we have had zero issues. She is always informative, timely in responses and accomodating!!

Good Time, but not because of the Cabin
I have read all the reviews before writing this. There are truths with the high ratings and low ratings. VRBO owns me no monies and can't wait for Darlene's comeback.
The "Rustic Cabin" is good for large groups. Not really an appropriate place for older adults unless they can climb 3-4 flights of stairs everyday in altitude. I am from Colorado so the altitude did not bother me.
Yes there is a fully stocked kitchen but not enough towels to clean up. The stove/oven was not clean, so when we turned it on it smoked pretty bad.
The bedroom sizes are good. They provided one small towel and one facial towel per person. Had to make your own bed. Not a big deal. Blanket had holes in it. No towels in the bathroom, so when guests wash their hands after going to the bathroom, they are using your towel to dry off.
There is a large deck in the front and back. Regarding the back deck; There were plastic chairs to sit on, but four of the chairs were broken. The deck was extremely dirty. We had to use a hose to clean off the deck, tables and chairs to sit out there. There is also a small bbq grill. It was also dirty and I had to clean someone's mess before I could even use it. It's about mid-size, so if you do bbq, you'll have to cook in shifts for a larger group. Back deck not very scenic. There is a junk yard or something above the property and a view of old rusted out cars lined the top.
One review said there were exposed screws/nails on the railing. That was very true because my 90 year old mother cut her hand on one of them. Also one step was broken in half.
We didn't call Darlene about it because we had called her twice already about an electrical plug not working and the family member staying in that room had to move because they had a C-PAP machine. Darlene said to check the breaker box. We did and there was nothing wrong. Then said we must be using too many fans. It was over 100 degrees in the cabin. No one's fault about the heat.
We also called her to let her know that we found a live scorpion at the bottom of the stairs (WATCH YOUR STEP). She basically said, well it is the forest and there are scorpions in them." Honestly, I have been going the the mountains in California and Colorado and have never seen a scorpion. Based on Darlene's responses, why would I call her again about the stairs.
Regardless of my review about the property, it the people that make the fun not the property and we did have a good time.

Cold Springs Memories
This trip was amazing!! Stayed in Nov with no snow. The house is perfect for a larger group. We put the kids on top floor, adults on middle floor, and gathered on first floor. Kids also had their own place to go in basement bottom floor to be kids and play air hockey. It was just perfect for us. We will be back.

Comfortable and Relaxing for the whole family
The house size and layout was perfect for what we needed. Very comfortable and plenty of room to spread out. The well stocked kitchen was a plus! Our family had a fun week spending quality time without the interruption of the internet. Darlene was great to work with. We would definitely visit again. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Our Annual Family Gathering
Each year we get together with our three adult daughters, their husbands, and our one grandchild (so far!). We need lots of open living space for meals and to play games etc. This year we chose Pinecrest. This house was the PERFECT size and location! As it is a cabin, it was more rustic than the usual homes we book on VRBO, but it was fine. Because of this and the size, I can see why it is so popular with youth groups, scout troops, etc. We are already looking at our calendars to bring a whole different side of the family up there soon! Just be sure to read all of the details about what you need to bring. You need to provide more essentials than what we have with previous VRBO bookings. But again, it was well communicated from the beginning. Enjoy this place!

Good for Large Group
Our scout troop had a wonderful stay here last weekend. Plenty of room for our group of 8 adults and 10 kids! Kitchen is very well stocked. Plenty of linens and towels. Showers were nice and hot!

Awesome stay!
Awesome!
We had an awesome time at the cabin. There was more than enough space for our large family. The top floor was perfect for all the kids. It even had a tv, fooseball and air hockey table to keep them entertained. There was no wifi, which was an added plus. It forced the kids to interact and we loved the choice of classic movies. The fact that the snow was only a 10 minute drive was great. We made a day out of it. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet spot to bring the family. Thanks again for the great weekend.

Overpriced/Funky, Would Not Rent Again
Walking into this house, I got the feeling you would get if you thought you had rented a room at a nice hotel/resort and pulled up to a rundown motel. Except a rundown motel at least has the beds made-up for you and window coverings. I've rented large homes in the same area (same price-range) that were MUCH nicer, updated, and had more ammenities (Internet, gas BBQ, gas fire pit, pool table etc). This cabin is super funky and outdated, plywood "finish-work", stained carpet, narrow stairs with a 5" gap between the stairs and wall (our 3 year-old misstepped and his leg fell through the gap, we could literally see his leg dangling through the stairwell from the living room as he cried out), exposed screws in the railings, nails instead of towel racks in the bathrooms, and let's not forget the barbwire fence (literally) in the backyard. There is mouse poison under the beds. In the kids room there was a large cardboard patch over the window, and the foosball/air hockey tables are not full-size, they are the cheap mini versions from Walmart. The walls in this house are almost completely barren, save for a few sparse decorations/pictures (feels barrack--like). The listing states 4,000 square feet, but that must include the basement/mudroom area? Definitely not an area that anyone would spend any time, save to remove wet/dirty clothes. I gave two stars for the well-stocked kitchen, woodburning fireplace, and Darlene the property manager was very responsive. However, this property should be renting for half of what they're charging (at least that way expectations are set much lower). Would not consider renting again, ever.

The place was clean and bigger than expected. The only downside was there was no Wifi.

Repairs
All windows screens need to be repaired and or replaced. Fix upstairs shower drainage, it backs up when showering.

Great for Scouts
Our scouting troop had a great time here for a snow trip! So many fun activities in the area with skiing, luxury sledding, casual sledding, or just playing outside. The kids also liked playing air hockey and foosball and having a VHS movie festival.
We had 6 families (about 20 people) which was perfect because each family had one bedroom as their own and we threw the overflow kids in the attic. It's a cleverly laid out house for snow with a nice loading/unloading area at the bottom that is shielded from the snow. The wood stove put out an impressive amount of heat and was fun to heat water on.
The one thing I would mention, is we happened to go during one of the major winter storms. Beautiful and cozy, but we couldn't get two wheel drive cars up the driveway once the snow really started. We tried shovelling, de-icing salt, with chains, without chains. I would strongly recommend 4WD or AWD if you are expecting a lot of snow. We had a 4WD and AWD get up no problem. That said, the particular weekend we went happened to have ~ foot of snow, so probably not the norm.
One other thing to point out is no-wifi in the house and for cell coverage we only had sporatic texting. This may have been a function of the storm. Some parents loved this and wanted to stay 2 months. Even better when the power went out for 2 hours. No electronic devices, YAY! I only mention because sometimes we had to drive a couple blocks away to get updates on the storm or coordinate with our group. Coverage and snow clearance on the highway seemed good.
Overall, we had a great time and Darlene, who manages, is clearly a pro. Thanks for making the house available!

Very nice and very large place. Perfect for a group getaway.
My family and I shared this house with 3 other families. There was a ton of room for everyone to sleep. The kids really enjoyed the game room/loft. The kitchen had all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils you could ever need.
It snowed over a foot on our final night and after digging out we had an awesome time skiing at Dodge Ridge. There is no internet or cell service in this location, which I love. The children quickly forgot about devices and actually played with each other, in the gameroom and out in the snow.
This is the best house I've found in the Pinecrest area for a large group. We'll be back!

Ideal cabin for a large family!
The cabin was great. Very roomy for our family, well stocked kitchen, plenty of sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. The place was clean and warm, and just a short drive from Pinecrest where we found snow for the grandkids to play in. We would definitely book this cabin again.

Comfortable cabin for large group
Our group of 12 adults and 12 kids had a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend in cold springs, there was room for everybody and did not feel crowded. Nice bedrooms and ample loft. Kitchen is very well stocked , clean and organized, large dining table, close to the lake and ski resort... No WiFi was a bit of an inconvenience for workaholics and kids, but we had lots of table games and casino night. Thank you.

Boat Weekend Extravaganza!
This is our fifth 4th of July holiday here at Pinecrest Lake and second year renting this home. What we love the most about it - multiple fridges, ample dining space, bedrooms for all twenty of us, the back deck, and we are minutes from the lake!!!!! Absolutely renting again!

Large home with lots of sleeping beds
The place was and bedrooms were as advertised, plenty of sleeping space.
There was a heater in the house.
You have to make your own beds.
There is no soup of any kind so bring your hand soup, dishwasher soup and shampoo.
There is no toilet paper and paper towels (described in the rules).
There was wood for a fire.
There were vhs movies and there is also a dvd player.
The dishwasher was full when we got there and we emptied it.
The ash buckets where full/almost full when we got there.
There were other fridges down stairs and a washer and drier (we didn't use).

Awesome & Perfect for Our Family!
We had a total of 17 people (adults - 8 and grandchildren - 9) - the cabin was perfect, plenty of room! One of the best features was no wifi -- the reconnecting and fun we all had was priceless! Many memories were made! Will definitely rent this cabin again!
We took a short drive to Pinecrest Lake and hiked around the lake -- it was a beautiful day!!! We all slept very well that night :-)

We give this an A+ rating. Everything we needed for our annual family getaway!
This place was perfect for our family that includes 8 adults and 8 children, ages 7 to 14. We had everything we needed and everyone was comfortable for our 4 night stay! The kitchen is very well stocked with everything we needed. We had no plumbing issues and were pleasantly surprised to never run out of hot water for showers. Two coffee makers on the counter and the additional fridge downstairs came in handy. The lower level was very useful for storing ice chests and extra non-perishable food; actually this is one or our favorite features because it's nice to get that stuff out of your way. The washer and dryer were helpful too! There's no place like home when it comes to our beds, but the beds and bedding were all comfortable. The weather was nice, so we got to enjoy the large decks and got a permit so we could enjoy the outdoor fire pit. Nearby, we explored Pinecrest Lake and the bowling alley at Black Oak. We will definitely keep this one in mind for future plans.

I want to book for next year already!
This house was perfect for my friends and I this July 4th! The best part of the house was the backyard space and "true" bedrooms for couples and singles. We are also a very short drive to Pinecrest Lake. Made for a great weekend!

large enough for big groups but........
We had a group of 12 people, so the two bathrooms were a little tricky but we made it work. The towels were very old and ridiculously small for 12 adult women. It took two to three to dry off. I would suggest investing in larger towels. That said, the main issue was in the kitchen. The microwave was cracked and the door was literally falling off. The Refrigerator light was out, the door doesn't close right and the cooling mechanism was weak. It wasn't just that they were old , everything was broken. Dish towels were also missing , so we had to use paper towels that we brought, which was not energy conscious. I would suggest investing in a few dish drying towels. The sheets were in the rooms but not on the bed. Just FYI. As we got in late, it was a hassle to make all the beds. I wouldn't stay here again.
