About this cottage rental

Located just 1 1/2 hours north of Atlanta, Lake Burton is the premier mountain lake destination. Located between Helen and Clayton, we are close to any North Georgia activity you might want to enjoy. For families that are interested in boating, there are two marinas that rent boats and there is a year round boat ramp just down the road. Swimming, fishing, hiking or laying on the lounge chairs make this the ideal place to rest and relax.
The Cottage is newly renovated throughout with new appliances, furniture and beds. There are 2 queen size beds and a queen size sleeper sofa. Amenities include WiFi and Smart TV.
Our swim dock and boat house are designed for optimal lake enjoyment. The top of the boat house has a dining table and two sofas, and an umbrella to allow sun protection. The swim dock below is also equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas. We have recently added two paddle boards for our guest’s enjoyment.
Rental rates are as posted on VRBO. There are discounts for extended stays.
During the summer months we require a week long rental with check in/check out on Sundays. Special rates and check ins apply to major holidays as well. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
Minimum Nights Stay varies based on the season from 2 nights in the off season to 7 nights with a Sunday check in/check out date in the summer (see the calendar for available dates). The weekly rental requirement during the summer helps cut down on the wear and tear so we hope you understand.
Special holidays like Memorial Day ( 4 nights stay with a Thursday check in and Monday check out), Fourth of July ( weekly rental only) and Labor Day (4 nights stay with a Thursday check in and Monday Check out) have their own rules and rates. There are discounts for weekly and monthly rentals that apply.

My family of 5 (kids ages 12, 10 & 8) just returned from several days on Lake Burton. The Freeman's cottage was perfect for our family. Very well equipped with everything we needed. We ate most meals on the boathouse! We used the paddle boards every day, and enjoyed playing games on the cozy front porch. This was our 7th summer staying on Lake Burton, and although first time staying in this cottage, it will not be our last!

This is the most wonderful lake front cottage. We had everything we needed and wanted in this perfectly appointed space. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. Our vacation was great! We will definitely be back.

The day we booked, I got a welcome from our owners and felt immediately welcomed. The cottage is beautifully decorated incredibly well kept and stocked. My two greatest memories are the first night, making dinner in the kitchen and watching my husband on the huge deck grilling while my son was fishing on the dock & and both times our cousins came to visit us from across the lake from their house! We did just the right amount of relaxing, eating, drinking tubing, swimming, and boating that I could’ve packed into three nights! We definitely want to come stay again as soon as possible and are so happy to be able to have another place to escape to with family nearby.

Our family had an amazing time at the lake, celebrating my wife’s 50th birthday. Everything at the property was on point so that we could completely relax, even down to the utensils in the kitchen, which allowed us to take turns cooking meals for her.

Beautiful home in an amazing location, stocked with everything you need for a small group getaway- fire pit, two grills, huge deck covering the boathouse, a quick drive from the marina or great hiking.

We have been staying a Lake Burton on and off the last 9 years enjoying every trip, but Murray Cove Cottage was easily our favorite spot. We just loved that from every common room and the master bedroom that you could see the lake. The front porch was an excellent place to finish any night, and the dock was great for both being in the water or doing star watching. I just couldn't have asked for a better setup, and we look forward to returning on our next stay if possible. Also, it is a well stocked kitchen with regards to pots and pans and utensils, which was great for us since we really like to cook. Just a stellar experience and stay

Even though the weather didn't cooperate for us during the stay (rain, rain go away), we so enjoyed a relaxing and chill weekend in the stylish cottage, covered front porch, view from the top of the boat house (when the clouds cleared the stars were gorgeous) and the wonderful owners/hosts! This little cottage is a perfect gem. The views of the lake are gorgeous. Matt and Laura could not have been more accommodating. We had a terrific time swimming, boating and just sitting on the dock and the porch. I fell in love with Lake Burton and can’t wait to come back.

Matt and Laura were gracious hosts who have taken pride in both their beautifully renovated lake side home and southern hospitality. Positioned in a quiet cove, this home is perfectly set for a couple or small family to enjoy all the lake and surrounding area has to offer. For us it was waterskiing and tubing. With its many large coves and protection from wind, other boat traffic not withstanding, the water becomes perfect for first timers and the experienced. Thank you Matt and Laura for a memorable vacation!

We stayed here to celebrate our daughter’s High School graduation, and we had a perfect little getaway. The cottage is beyond adorable with beautiful views of the lake. Laura and Matt went above and beyond making sure that we had everything we needed during our stay, and they even left flowers for our little graduate ;). The location on Murray Cove is quiet and relaxing. Would highly recommend Murray Cove Cottage! We just loved everything about it! Thank you SO much!

This precious cottage was exactly what we needed for a long weekend getaway. It was well equipped and we wanted for nothing while there. The views of the lake framed by the mountains in the background is just spectacular! The cottage is centrally located - just a short drive to hiking trails, waterfalls, shopping etc. The owners, Matt and Laura are so kind and accommodating! Highly recommend this property!

We enjoy every moment at our stay at the Cottage. We spent Thanksgiving there and had everything we needed. That didn’t stop Laura from calling to check on us anyway! They are amazing and I appreciate them sharing their cottage with us.
