Nothing. The photos look great on the website. The reality, I felt, was quite different.
What the photos don't show is that the entrance to the rooms is through a gate and up stairs that are frequented by patrons from the bar. Whilst this is not a problem in itself, as a lone traveller having to negotiate through a group of men standing very close to the security pad entrance, it was all a bit intimidating - especially if returning to the room later at night. The room itself only had a thumblock to the door. The security did not feel adequate so I left and booked in elsewhere. Having returned the key the following day (for a 2 night stay), the Dark House would not compromise to offer a refund for even 1 night. Instead they chose to dismiss my concerns as almost irrelevant and then ignore any correspondence sent to them. It was such a shame. Unfortunately, trying to transfer the complaint to Booking.com is pointless because they are completely faceless. It really would make me rethink booking via booking.com for the future but certainly not returning to this property.

The bar was nice and the staff were nice
The room was a bit messy and there was furry mould on the shower head…

Location, comfortable, good value, pub has good roof seating. Good bus links to city.
Can be noisy outside as is on main road.

Was clean and easy to get into the centre by bus. Staff in the bar were friendly.
When we arrived we were told that it was actually an air bnb and not a hotel, however, it lacked all the benefits of an air bnb, usually you get more than one room (living room/dining room) and there were no kitchen facilities. Overall quite expensive for what it was. No parking at the property, only street parking. No blind or curtain on the window. There’s also a bar right under the room so you can hear the music until they shut it off around 1.

Close to traffic station. They also have very nice bathroom.
All good.

Good location
Didn't reply to my queries by email, not a good approach to the room.

Going out
Stains on curtains. Dusty door not fitted properly stairs outside led to pub terrace and people sitting in front of access door to our room sink cracked and mouldy shower in bathroom bed constantly squeaking over priced for the state of the room

Dog friendly and people friendly.

Nothing
Loud music on weekends. Offered earplugs on arrival ! noise from the bar downstairs which can be heard as if actually in the bar. It stops at 2.00am but pubgoers outside so got to sleep at 3.00 am. Booked for Friday and Saturday night but packed and left at 8.00 am after first night. I appreciate it is pub accommodation but stayed in many and normally quiet from midnight onwards.

Front of bar area is convinient.
Easy access to bus for city center.
we arrived on saturday late night, check in was smooth.people are working in pub .They are friendly.
The pub staff didnt tell us wifi password.
We arrived on saturday late night, we can‘t bother to ask them about it .
The bathroom was not clean at all.
Baisin was full of dary water . The Durty plastic scale majoring cup and table knife on the side of Basin.why..After we figure it out ...
Those things use for draining water.
Because the baisin plug didnt work.
Shower water pressure was very poor.no soap.
We are very disappointed.
We paied £127 for one night. It wasnt worth it.
This is a joke.

No breakfast offered
The place was run down, dark, tired and very dirty, it isn’t part of the Dark Horse public house and is run independently. Access and egress was via a side entrance up a poorly lit timber staircase, the person who shewed us to the accommodation was very helpful, as soon as he left we followed suit and didn’t stay overnight as planned, because the room and adjacent access wasn’t to an acceptable standard.

very clean and comfortable!.
perfect if you don’t mind noise from the pub, we didn’t and stayed on the pubs quiz night and joined in. Great fun and the Quiz Master was such a laugh !.
no breakfast and local cafes closed unfortunately. Area wasn’t the best for dinner either.

Very overpriced and the pub downstairs blasted music till gone 2.30am.

The staff were ok but not much help
I stayed in Room 3. There are so many things wrong with this hotel it's difficult to fathom how they continue. I private messaged them with these concerns for them to either offer compensation or an explanation but they chose to ignore.
1. The shower has mould everywhere.
2. There was no wifi
3. There was no milk in the room. I know there was a note explaining this is to cut down on single use plastic but you have no issue with plastic bag coffee pods. A small recyclable bottle of milk should be waiting in the room. (see pictures)
4. The floor was filthy (see pictures)
5. There were hand prints on the wall (see pictures)
6. There's no car park. Booking.com states free parking but there is only limited time public parking,
7. There's no blind on the window
8. The outside stairs need a light. They are treacherous in the dark.
9. £84.89 per night for this is extortionate
On booking.com it was advertised as Deluxe Double Room with Shower. I'd like to know what was Deluxe about this rooms. I was extremely disappointed with The Dark Horse and I will never return

The Dark Horse pub itself is a very welcoming and warm place. The manager who checked us in was friendly and down-to-earth, which put us right at ease. We had a secure private entrance that was separate from the pub so that was comforting, as well as meaning we could stay out in Bristol as long as we wanted.
The room itself was a good size, and pleasantly decorated. It was lovely and warm, with great solid wood furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable and a great size, with plenty of pillows and a soft duvet.
The bathroom was nicely renovated with a good sized shower that had great water pressure and was very easy to use. The towels provided were very soft and absorbent too.
Yes the pub is on a busy street but we weren't bothered by the traffic noise at all, and despite arriving on a Friday night, the busy pub wasn't too noisy either.
A hairdryer with attachments was provided, as well as shampoo and conditioner. There was a good sized kettle with tea and coffee, with milk available to order from the pub (to cut down on waste).
There are loads of cafes and there's an Aldi opposite with a Tesco a 1 min walk down the road so there's lots of amenities close by.
We loved our short stay and would absolutely stay here again!
The only thing I can think of is the loo roll holder was broken. But it really didn't matter and didn't affect our experience at all.

central location & pet friendly
bit noisy above a pub

The room was too light my eyes on entering. V tasteful presentation.
Outside of the room is the only thing that lets this listikg down and by no great means either. Only something to mention if pushed too ask. Which is the journey from curb side to bed side not being overly congruent
