I could not answer the questions because I rented the property for my grown children and spouses! But from what they said, all was perfect! Loved the house and view and did some boating and enjoyed the whole weekend!!

This was our favorite vacation. The house is beautifully maintained and in a perfect location. Plenty of places to go and eat, shopping is very convenient. The fishing is great off of the dock and you get to enjoy watching the dolphins in the evenings and mornings…the hosts are great with communication, I highly recommended this home…we can’t wait to come back!!

Great location for those who enjoy the water and all it has to offer...boating, swimming, crabbing, and fishing. It has good dockage for two boats. Hunting Island State Park is nearby for a day at the beach.
The house is comfortable for a large group, and the kitchen has most of the items needed for cooking in.

House and Property was perfect our family that was in town for my Daughters wedding at Dataw Island. Convient location to Dataw. The Boys caught some fish of the dock with the rods I brought. BUT caught over 20+ crabs with the Crab net that comes with house. It was perfect for our Impromptu Frogmore Stew we made with fresh local catch in the well equiped Kitchen. Up the road someone was selling fresh caught shrimp. You pass two roadside stands with fresh Peaches, Blackberries and Corn, plus more. This house and location was perfect to town. Seperate enough spaces for younger people to go upstairs to that TV or go do their thing! Plenty of room for everyone to hang out on Main level. Plenty of seating to sit and hang in screened in back porch, which is where we spent alot of time. Love the cute lights in the yard. The neighbors the left are sweet people with a Sweet doggie. He gave the best kisses. Also plenty of parking. We had 4 cars there. I will book this again when we come back to St. Helena Island!

This was the perfect spot for our family gathering! The home was cozy and comfortable, and situated in a quieter area away from the crowds/tourists. We caught crabs off the dock, played ping pong and corn hole, visited Hunting Island and the Penn Center, enjoyed a couple rounds of golf, and strolled around lovely downtown Beaufort!

The place was right for the kind of vacation we wanted this time. The place was quiet and private. There were enough beds for all12 of us. The dining room is tight but bar and porch can easily be used for eating. We enjoyed the dock for early morning coffee time as well for evening cocktails.
We also did crabbing from the dock.
Booking and check-in process was seamless. Instructions were clear and concise. The host made sure we made it to the house and were always available to answer our questions.
Pots and pans are old and do not have matching lids. There were some bugs and roaches in the house. These can be easily remedied.
We will definitely recommend the place to anyone.

Our family of 8 adults and 4 kids ages 1-7 had a wonderful vacation. The house had everything we needed - space to gather, a large kitchen, a beautiful view from the fully screened porch, and even dolphins jumping in the water off the dock. Plenty of beds for everyone and the master bath and huge shower were a hit to quickly clean up all the kids after our trips to the beach at the state park. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to enjoy the fire pit and outdoor games. Perfect location between the beach and Beaufort and wonderful restaurants close by! It was very easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go. We loved it!

I cannot say enough about this house!! Was very clean, well appointed & the kitchen had all you needed & then some!! Awesome back screened in porch overlooking the water. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms modern and clean, the kitchen had everything we could have possibly wanted, let alone needed, the living area had comfy furniture (which was a blessing during the first 36 hours of near-tropical force winds and rain), the kiddos ( and adults) could watch some Disney movies and play games at the kitchen table. We appreciated the dock on a quiet river that accommodated our 24 and 20 foot boats. We even caught enough crabs to eat on our evening. We met your friendly neighbors/relatives in the houses next door and spent one day on the beach together playing games there. We hope we can return soon! Jim and Jean

Located less than a 1/2 mile from a public boat launch. Important as we trailered 2 boats. Went by water to Edisto and Beaufort to enjoy sandbars and restaurants. House is clean and well appointed. Was surprised to find many supplies we did experience in other large rentals.

Perfectly Peaceful Spot for Wedding on Dataw Island
The house was for the most part clean and functional. We were delighted to have ROKU for the sports fans. We enjoyed a laugh upon finding a pair of black ladies panties behind the love seat - lots of off-color remarks about the previous renters.
House Rules we’re clear and specific. Directions to the County Waste Disposal Center could have used more detail - like an address; mileage from residence, turn details. We ended up going to a center some miles beyond Beaufort. We were surprised not to find a blender in a kitchen that seems to have every other appliance and tool. We were grateful to find paper plates, and napkins. Very comfortable beds, pillows, charming furniture, luxury bathrooms, terrific views of low country, South Carolina. We loved playing cornhole., But for us the proximity to Dataw Island was perfect.

Home away from home
This was our third year staying at Tootsie’s Retreat. House was as clean as always and felt like home. We appreciate the well equipped kitchen as we cooked each night. The screened porch and the dock are always our favorite spots to relax. We’re looking forward to our next trip!

This property was very nice! It was very clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook. The dock was a bonus for us. The kids had a great time fishing. It was a very easy commute to get to Parris Island for our son’s Marine Corps graduation. I highly recommend this property.

Perfect getaway in a beautiful location
My family of 8 stayed in this property for a week. Thank you to Janice and Evelyn for sharing your piece of paradise with us. It was obvious how much you love your river home. We have stayed in several vacation properties but this one was so well thought out and we can’t wait to come back. The home was CLEAN and beautifully laid out for a group. The owners have thought of so many family friendly details. The home was lovingly furnished, the beds were heaven and the kitchen had everything we needed. We especially loved the 6 rocking chairs on the screened in porch and the swimming off the dock! We made daily trips on our boat to enjoy the sandbar with our pups. It was minutes away from fresh seafood and great restaurants and only 20 minutes from historic Beaufort. There were board games and dominos for family game nights. We spent hours playing ping pong and corn hole outside. We loved our visit from the neighbor’s dog every morning. What a sweet boy!
This home truly had everything for a terrific relaxing boat vacation. Thank you again for a wonderful week!

Great vacation home
This was our second time staying at Tootsie’s Retreat. We had an awesome time! The only things that could have made it better is if we could have stayed longer and if there was an elevator—steps are hard for the older generation.

Delightful Family Stay
Our family deeply enjoyed the week at Tootsie's Retreat. The house was so clean and there was space for all of us. The kitchen was so great. Each day, we cooked all 3 meals for all 12 of us. The kitchen handled it so well and it was well stocked with all that we needed to make it happen with ease.
The dock was perfect for our boat and the boat ramp just down the road was extremely convenient. The dolphin watching from the dock did not disappoint. I do know that we were extremely fortunate to see a beautiful sunset from the dock each evening. But, truly, one night the sunset took our breath away. We have traveled to any parts of the country with scenic views too many to count but the sunset at Tootsie's Retreat will forever be the one that we remember for all time.
The drive to Hunting Island Beach State Park was easy and the park pass available for usage was an added bonus that is so appreciated.
Janice and Evelyn were perfect hosts. They responded quickly to any question that we may have had and they had a great guest informational book at the house. You can tell their family loves the home and have taken such good care of it.
We can only hope that every family and guest enjoys their week as much as we did.
Happy vacationing to all that visit Tootsie's Retreat!

Comfortable and spacious with a great view
This was the perfect place for three generations of family and our dogs to stay while visiting St. Helena. We could watch sunsets and dolphins from the screened in porch, play ping pong in the yard, and cook up meals in a well stocked kitchen. Janice was a responsive and welcoming host who also provided a car pass to nearby Hunting Island State Park. We would definitely stay here again for a family trip. Thanks for your hospitality!

Crabbing/fishing
We've stayed in the Beaufort area for the past several fall seasons. This home was by far the cleanest home we have been in. The owners take pride in their home and it shows. It looks lived in by them perhaps when not being rented, which I think helps a home stay kept up and welcoming. It's a beautiful home that overlooks water and nice sunsets. There is a shared dock with the home next door, but we never saw anyone else on the dock, but our group. We caught tons of shrimp, crabs, shark and a few other fish. The home is well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper etc so we didn't need to go get more of these items. They even left 2 keurig coffee pods on the counter, though we did not need them. There is a nice screened deck to watch the dock action and see occasional dolphins. We came to town 2 months later than typical for us this year and when the wind stopped blowing, we would get devoured by the no-see-ums. Our bug spray did not seem to phase them. Thankfully, we did have a nice wind most of the visit. For elderly visitors, make sure you are aware of the steps to get into the house. Living spaces are 2nd level and 3rd. Beds were extremely comfortable. We were a little surprised at how nice they were and I am pretty picky. One suggestion I would have is some of the bath towels are tiny. I found a larger one up on the 3rd level that I brought down to use. We had great communication with the property manager and they were quick to respond. We had no issues during our stay.

BEST LOWCOUNTRY GET-AWAY
This is the second time we've stayed at Tootsie's. It is the best location if you intend to bring your own boat. Deep water dockage and the county ramp is less that a 1/4 mile away. Convenient to downtown Frogmore and Beaufort. We'll be back!
