We really didn't like the decor of the room we were given. However, our request to change rooms was accommodated.
Shower was very good
Hotel is tired, and in need of a refurbishment.
TV in room didn't work.
Bed was uncomfortable.
No one asked about our stay when we checked out...just accepted the keys.

The view
Bathroom window was exposed, no curtains, no blinds and not frosted. You can see directly into the glass shower from the houses opposite. When we told the staff they said it's OK that's our house, we found that very creepy. We were unable to wash during our stay. The double bed was also two singles pushed together. On top of that the cost is a whopping £185 per night. We don't mind paying high end prices if the comfort is matched. The hotel is double the price of a Premier Inn yet twice as bad, and higher price than the Hilton but half as comfortable.
This review has now been reviewed and amended due to the response from the owner. From 2 stars to 1.
Early check in? We asked if we could leave our bags we did not ask for an early check in, this hotel was purely a stop over whilst spending every waking minute with family who live in the local area. Bags were dropped off and we left 2 minutes later, we do not spend our time inspecting rooms we book to look for an excuse to move rooms, we expect the rooms to be of a decent standard, at least to regulation anyway!! We returned late and noticed the bathroom window fully exposed so were unable to wash, how can we request to move rooms when we have returned late with 2 very tired young children. Your staff may have noticed we left the hotel extremely early in the morning, why was this .... of course, so we could go to our family's house and use their facilities so we could wash and use the toilet without the assumption that people are watching us from the house that is some 50 metres from the house, not 200, I could clearly see into the house windows so I'm sure they can do the same.
The reason my review is now a 1 star is because of the response, I can NOT believe my ears that you have not accepted responsibility for such an intrusive act and yet just palm it off as 'we have now fitted frosted glass'. Whilst this is excellent news for the next guests it certainly is not for us or previous.

The family who run this hotel are warm, approachable, polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the waiting staff were professional and friendly.

Beautiful location, tentative staff, especially the young lady who was working. Free Jacuzzi, steam, and sauna room was an amazing extra. The food was lovely too.
There was nothing we didn't like.

the place was so peaceful and secluded, loved being woken to the sounds of sheep’s and lambs, proper country. The people were lovely and welcoming and the food was top notch. thank you for having us!
don’t clean your car before you go, the muddy roads will give your tyres a new colour.

We had an amazing stay at Croydon Hall! What a beautiful location and stunning hotel. All the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was lovely too and in a stunning room with a great view. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
If we are being very picky, there were no biscuits or milk in the hotel room. But like I said, that is being really picky! I’m sure the staff would’ve helped if we asked but it didn’t really matter that much to us.

The staff were super friendly, really lovely atmosphere! Excellent breakfast and lovely evening meal as well. The spa and swimming pool were fantastic. The location is stunning. It's very peaceful there as it is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of everything. I would recommend it to anyone.
If I had to find fault in something, it would be that one of the saunas wasn't working when we came, other than that it was perfect!

Breakfast was fabulous, very attentive staff, great choice of food. Dinner was also fabulous and a more than adequate helping.
A bit more fruit on show for breakfast would have been nice, along with more choice of yogurt.
Dinner in the evening was also fabulous, but spoilt by the fact that fillet steak wasn’t available both nights along with a couple of other items.

Don't stay here!
I made the mistake of paying in advance £155 (room only) for a single attic bedroom - with a double bed squeezed in. I'd love to hear the comments of a couple arriving into that room: "who should use the eaves-bedside, banging their head on the dormer window, or who'd take the other side, tight up against the shower room wall?"
I should have turned the room down immediately. But when I complained at breakfast and of course was offered an upgrade, having endured it for one of my two nights, moving was hardly worth the hassle.
I don't know why I didn't get an upgrade on arrival - since only about five of their many rooms were occupied.
BTW, breakfast at £15 is way over-priced: I'd expect kippers, haddock, even just fruit salad. Not just "Do you want weetabix or muesli?"
I chose this place partly because it offers spa facilities. The sauna doesn't work, and don't get changed or use the WC there - the facilities are pitiful.
Stay in a pub - you'll have far more fun, for far less cost.
