About this cottage rental
The Boulders was originally part of a well-known Maine summer resort. Back in the 19th century wealthy people in New York and Boston would throng, by steamship, to the cool, clean restful Maine coast for the summer. They called it rusticating. The Lookout Inn was a resort built for rusticators, and over the years has expanded to include a number of cottages – including the Boulders.
The resort is as popular today as it has always been. At the end of a quiet peninsula, it has a quintessentially Maine feeling. A long rocky, but walk-able beach surrounds a large open field. Views in every direction are spectacular. The ocean water of Jericho Bay surrounds the peninsula and is dotted with islands. One is even close enough to walk to at low tide!
You will have night skies with more stars than you can imagine, exquisite walking trails, pristine ocean water, and lots of local attractions.
Old-fashioned charm abounds. The Inn serves an elegant dinner just a short walk away. Or stay at home and make your own feast. The kitchen in the Boulders is well-equipped (including a lobster steamer), and there is a barbeque on the deck for grilling local fish.
It is a perfect place to relax and get back in touch with your life, your soul, and your family and friends. The cottage sleeps 8 so bring those you love to share the experience.

Truly enjoyed our week at your cabin. Beautiful cabin. The pictures do not do it justice! Very clean and tidy! We absolutely loved our stay and will be back! The views/area are definitely something I’ll never forget and even my grumpy 15 year old got out and explored the shoreline and we even caught her smiling and laughing a few times! She even left her cellphone in the cabin once! We met some locals and visitors who made our stay even better. The only negative thing I can think of is that we had to leave… Thank you so much for an amazing vacation base.

Perfect getaway!
The pictures did not prepare us for the beauty of the property as a whole. From the driveway to the cabin you can see a panoramic of water views. The smell of the ocean, fresh cut grass, and huge wild flower gardens fill the air at this location. Most vacations we take as a family are not long enough and this place is no exception. While staying here we visited Bar Harbor, nearby gift shops , and of course explored the beach front property. Watched lobster boats in the mornings and millions of stars at night. Would definitely recommend this cottage for all ages. Thanks to Kate, for opening up her property to us. The cottage was very well stocked with everything we needed, even for a rainy day!

Absolutely Beautiful!
This was one of our favorite vacations ever! Quiet, cozy and restful. The views and beaches were amazing. The cottage was very clean and equipped with essentials. Was sad to find the Neighboring inn and restaurant was closed.

A piece of Heaven
I can’t say enough about how in love I am with The Boulders Cottage!! We came right before the season started Memorial Day weekend. Was a lovely time to come if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Such a beautiful setting and so remote…we LOVED it. Now, it was a solid hour to get anywhere of touristy visiting. But we didn’t mind, was a beautiful ride. We didn’t really visit the tiny towns nearby. Maybe next time…!!! I will definitely be back.
I will say, if you come during a warm season, I could see the cabin getting quite warm. I don’t know what is in place for that, as it was cool enough for a fire when we were there. We also had a bonfire on the beach!!! Awesome!! Thank you for opening your home to us!!!

Such an amazing location!
Our family of 7 (2 adults, and kids age 16, 13, 3, 1 and 1) spent a week here, and we enjoyed every minute! The cabin has everything you need, and was very clean. The location, while far away from almost everything (according to our standards) is AMAZING. The rocky beach below the cabin has a beautiful view and great places to sit and watch the water. The point has tide pools that we’re so fun for the kids to splash around in or look for shells and other ocean life. I can’t say enough good things about our experience and we hope to return next year!

Pay Back
After a brutal 2020 this was our first trip in well over a year. Spending three days reading, napping, daily walks on the beach, and enjoying the ocean views was just the recharge we needed. The property is rustic and perfectly quiet. Bonus, the skies are so dark at night that you can see an amazing amount of stars!

Highly recommend this fantastic place
We traveled up to the area for a quick getaway and it was lovely. The cottage is spacious and had everything we needed - towels, blankets, coffee maker, etc. The location was amazing - we watched the sun rise over the water from the deck. We enjoyed exploring the beach area - during low tide, you can walk out quite far. We also very much enjoyed sitting by the fire at night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing getaway!

Beautiful place with ocean views everywhere you look
Everything was picture perfect except the Internet was a little spotty. We would recommend a direct connection via modem rather than using an extender. Great place for our dog too. We would definitely consider coming back here next year.

Beautiful Cottage; Stunning Location
This cottage is perfect for anyone looking for a spectacular view of the ocean in a private setting. The cottage is well kept and extremely comfortable and cozy!! Beach access is right off the back deck and provides an amazing scenery to enjoy while searching for shells and walking the shoreline. 5 stars - highly recommended! We hope to stay again sometime!

Boulders
Renters should be aware that if there is a wedding or celebration happening at The Lookout, the music is heard in the cabin from around 7pm until 11pm (loud enough to easily hear through ear plugs if you’re trying to sleep). Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay! Nice, easy access, and views of the water, places to walk the dog, and near Blue Hill stores, if needed. The fireplace is great to have on cooler evenings as well.

Couldn't have been better!
We had such a memorable vacation at the Boulders! A beautiful location, perfect weather and a cottage that accommodated our family of 8 (6 adults, 2 children) with no problem at all. We enjoyed leisurely meals around the large dining table, explored tide pools, walked the beach, picked blueberries, watched lobster boats, flew kites, played endless board games, went to sleep and repeated the next day! It truly could not have been better! Robin D

Bliss on the Maine Coast
The Boulders is quaint and rustic. It sleeps 8 comfortably without being massive. The kitchen is a bit small and dark, but the setting couldn't be more lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our midsummer getaway!

AMAZING!!!!
I can’t even begin to say how pleased we were with our stay!!!!! Beautiful, clean cabin. Kate contacted us before we left to let us know that it was going to be cold the night we got there and she had the fire place going for us and the neighbors were welcome to answering any questions we had. We will take another trip and stay here. Cabin slept 8 comfortably. Thank you very much for a great experience!!!

Well equipped rustic cabin with waterfront location
My husband and I and our two kids (8 &4) & dog loved the serenity and simplicity of this rustic cabin on the point. We loved playing for hours on the rocks at low tide, beachcombing, walking, and enjoying the brilliant stars at night. Note that the cabin doesn’t have washer/dryer and WiFi at the cabin was spotty (as of Oct 2018–these conditions change quickly!). We loved having fresh clean linens provided and the cottage was perfectly clean. Thanks to Kate for sharing this with others!!

Our stay was wonderful, just as I remembered Maine.
We stayed in a small cottage, right on the water with views to many islands. I would definitely stay again should I get the chance, as we live in CA.

We felt fortunate to experience the pristine cosst of Maine in such a sweet cottage and setting.
We found the cottage to be very charming and well equipped. Beds were comfortable with nice linens. Kitchen was well equipped. There was no microwave that I remember. We were comfortable. The setting is what we expected from the description. We enjoyed beautiful weather. It would be nice to enjoy again. I wish there had been a short set of steps from the path down to the water’s edge to the beach boulders. We painted, walked out to Flye Island, checked out the hotel but did not experience the dining. Wifi was available. All in all we had a lovely week.

Beautiful spot!
Our family or five plus our dog had a lovely time. The rustic (very clean) cabin was a perfect fit for our needs during our time in Brooklin. The access to the water was such a treat. Blue Hill was a fun spot and a short drive away.
Picking up the precooked lobsters at The Lobster Crate down the road made dinner easy and delicious!
We went to The Lookout restaurant on the premises (50 feet from the house). Food was decent but very expensive. Long wait for it as well. Wait staff was not that friendly.
Overall and amazing time was had!

Heard several times...”Favorite vacation ever!”
Quaint cottage that was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of fans or heaters if needed. We did not venture out often as we wanted to just enjoy the ocean and bought crabs and fish locally and cooked most meals at the cottage. Went down during all tides to enjoy the water, beachcombing, soaking up the heat on the large rocks. Our only disappointment was not with the house but the tics in the area. Didn’t know they were so bad this far north. Tics on us and the dog Every Time we went outside. We also made the mistake of trying to walk out to one of the islands during low tide our first day and the barnacles tore up our poor dogs feet (he had a great time though). Between the tics and our dogs feet, We unfortunately decided to not go hiking to Acadia. We loved our stay and plan to come back but with kyaks and neoprene booties for the dog next time. Thank you again for sharing your lovely home with us. We loved the decorating style of this cottage as well.
