This house was absolutely perfect for our young family of 4. We spent our days on the beach and screened-in porch, enjoying the peace and perfect setting of the house. We had everything we needed for cooking and grilling each night. We loved our stay and will plan to come back!

Another wonderful week and snug cottage, the location is amazing. The ability to walk out to the shore and go for long strolls at low tide is a plus. The view and the quietness are the highlights of the trip. Highly recommend.

The house was as comfortable as last year. We appreciated the fact that the owners allowed us to bring our newly rehomed border collie. The place was our dogs dream...screened in porched for snoozing, beech to roam whenever she wanted, comfy evenings before the fire in the Franklin stove, and a lawn to roll and play on. We enjoyed it all with her. The cottage is in a wonderful neighborhood away from it all but close enough for outings to the Co-Op and dinners in Blue Hill and many walks and hikes nearby. Also great restaurant and pub right up the road in Brooklin...what else do you need for a great week away from it all.

My wife & I had a terrific stay at this quaint little cottage. We love the Blue Hill Peninsula area and this rustic, cottage was a great place to relax. Access to many good attractions, shopping, Bar Harbor, & restaurants. Living area was easy to relax. Sleeping quarters were very comfortable. I made breakfast every morning in the nice little kitchen, fully stocked. The hammock got some use too. Beach access was amazing. Perfect all the way around.

Snug Cottage is an adorable, rustic cottage by the sea. My 16 year old son and I enjoyed the quiet location. We rented kayaks and watched two amazing sunsets from our boats in the water. So peaceful! Snug Cottage is not too far from Acadia, and we spent two days there. One day, we rented ebikes. That was a blast! My son and love to watch TV at night, so we brought my laptop. The house has great wifi, so we had no trouble streaming the last two seasons of Ted Lasso. Brooklin is an adorable town, and I highly recommend this quaint little town and Snug Cottage. Oh yeah, don't forget to watch for deer on the highway. We saw at least 20 in the 6 days we were here.

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. The scenery was even more beautiful than we imagined. The cottage is very private and well stocked with books and games to entertain all ages. We took a couple of day trips to Acadia which is just over one hour away by car. We also explored the local area and spent time searching for treasures on the private beach.

It was just what we were looking for. Clean and everything we needed. Used wood stove to heat downstairs. Space heater for bedroom. Located in the right location for day trips around the area as well as to Acadia NP.

This was a great place that offered multiple relaxing space in the cottage and on the property with views of the beach. The favorite space was the screened in porch giving the feel of out doors but protected from the bugs. Direct access to the beach for long walks at low tide that gave the feeling that you are the only people there to enjoy the view and all that surrounds you.
A relaxing and healing place.

A Piece of Paradise
We loved everything about our stay at the Snug Cottage. While simple, the cottage was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. Most importantly, though, was the breathtaking view and access to the beach, as well as easy access to the rest of what this lovely corner of Maine has to offer. We’re already planning to return.

Five Star View
It's a gorgeous summer spot on the rocky coast of Maine! It's for beach walks (water is freezing in Maine if you don't know), reading in the hammock, and sitting on the porch. The kitchen and gear are good for making simple food. Arcadia and other places are nearby but miles as the crow flies mean longer car rides than you might expect if you're clueless like we were, but worth the time. The house creaks the shower leaks (through the floor-- you can hear drops anyway), so the 5 stars are for it being clean and the spot being beautiful! The beauty of the spot is why we went and why you will want to go too!

Peaceful & Beautiful Vacation!
We have been to Maine several times, but this was our first trip to the Acadia area, and it was wonderful. Snug Cottage is a blissful base camp for exploring the area, it was so nice to return to after a busy day of hiking or shopping. We loved reading by the fireplace at night (there were still a couple of chilly days in June) and walking the beach. Thanks for sharing your special property with us!

Fantastic view property
We had an excellent vacation at Snugg cottage. This cottage is not your modern home which is excactly what we were looking for. The size was perfect for our family of three. The location was very quiet. The best part was the beach which is conveniently located just steps away from the cottage. We will definitely return.

Wonderful location, cozy cottage.
My family of 4 (kids ages 6 and 8) had a great time at Snug Cottage. The location was perfect, as we wanted to step out of our rental house and onto a beach (and the beach was just down a flight of stairs). The coast was beautiful and looked stunning on a foggy morning, as well as when the sun was shining. I recommend bringing water shoes as the shore is a bit pebbly. We enjoyed hunting for sea glass, gazing at the beautiful bay and watching the sailboats, sun sets, and of course lounging in the screened in porch area. We did one day trip to Castine, with a pit stop at Buck's Harbor (from One Morning in Maine, which the kids found amusing!).
Overall the location can't be beat for a young family looking to relax. The cottage was indeed snug but cozy. The queen size bed in the master was very comfortable. You can hear everything through the thin walls, so prepare to all have quiet time at the same time, which was no problem for us. They had plenty of blankets and towels available, as well as puzzles and books. The fridge was a bit small so you will likely need to go out for food to re-stock, but there were some great farmer's markets in August, as well as a Hannaford's and Co-op about 20 minutes away. The grill on the porch functioned well (which sometimes isn't always the case when listed as an amenity) and we cooked hot dogs and zucchini on it.
I highly recommend this property!

Perfect quiet getaway
My daughter and I came up to take some time to unplug and connect with nature. Colin and Lizzie have created a magical oasis for doing just that in a beautiful location. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again.

Cute & Quaint & Perfect!
Snug Cottage was the perfect place to honeymoon! Secluded and quiet, but a few minutes into town for good food and local shopping. We definitely spent most of our days sitting on the porch just looking at the water and enjoying the sunshine! Thanks for having us!

One of our favorite places!
We can’t say enough good things about Snug Cottage! This was our second time staying there and it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge. Our 4 year old son had the best time running all over the property exploring and playing on the beach. Highly recommend!

Snug and Super Cute
Snug Cottage totally delivers a quiet, private, beautiful place to unplug and just BE.
As soon as we arrived, it was like stepping back in time to a much more simple world. This is a very quaint wooden cottage. It is in a very private, quiet location. Every inch of it was neat and tidy. (really, not a bit of dust or cobweb to be seen) . A bottle of wine was waiting for us-- THANK you Colin and Lizzy for that!
We visited in May for our 35th wedding anniversary. It was a bit chilly, but we had some gorgeous days. You should note, if traveling in early spring or fall, you will need to be proficient at starting up the wood stove for heat-it IS the heat source. And be prepared to get up in the early hours to put in some more wood (everything is supplied for use ) The wood heat is so relaxing in the evenings, and we needed it on the chilly mornings. We have a wood stove at home, so this wasn't a big deal for us.
The screened porch was delightful. I was out there very early in the morning and late in the evening curled up in a blanket just reading, listening to the water and was often rewarded by some loon songs.
The view out of the Master Bedroom window is AMAZING for sunrise watching in the morning-- at least in May. The sun rises just between the mountains -- Acadia in the distance.
The Master bed was super comfy.
Private steps down to the water edge for good long walks. It was great to see the tide ebb and flow.
We enjoyed just hanging out, reading, walking and NOT being bombarded by noise, phones, internet or TV (there isn't a TV--you won't miss it!) Definitely take advantage of the location and UNPLUG. So quiet, so restorative.
Just one itty bitty tip, the washer/ dryer combo--it is great to have the laundry option and I appreciate that. This appliance can take up to 6 hours to complete the full cycle of drying if you cannot hang your clothes outside. It worked fine for us. But I was glad that I hadn't tried to toss in a "quick" load before a day trip or packing up.
We also drove over to Acadia National Park for day hikes a couple of days. Our off season timing allowed us to enjoy the park and the trails without big crowds. But also, due to the season, and to covid recovery, some shops/ eateries around were not open for normal business.
Maine is a BEAUTIFUL State. And Snug Cottage was perfect for enjoying it all . I would go back to Snug cottage in a heartbeat.
Thank you to our wonderful hosts!

Super Snug
It was well worth the effort to travel from New Mexico to Brooklin, Maine and spend 10 wonderful days at Snug Cottage. The little house by the sea was full of charm and character. It was also very clean. The small kitchen and bathroom had everything you needed. We had some rainy cool days but the wood stove produced a good amount of heat. This place is a gem. The beach, porches, and views are priceless. Colin and Lizzie were great hosts. Any questions I had were answered very promptly. Hope to return next year.

Hidden Gem in Maine
I almost don't want to write a review and reveal how wonderful this property is so I can keep it all to myself. My husband and I spent a week at Snug cottage for a local honeymoon. It was the perfect retreat and felt like it was worlds away from the chaos of 2020. We rotated between reading and napping on the screened-in porch, walking along the beach, and taking our kayaks out on the calm bay waters. The cottage was the perfect size for 2 people (could fit a few kiddos as well) and having the screened-in porch was a real bonus. The neighbors were lovely when we ran into them and we loved being a small part of the population that has discovered Brooklin Maine. The kitchen is well stocked for a vacation rental (you can bring groceries and know you won't need for a grater, mixing bowls, pots, pans, etc...). We picked up groceries before hitting the peninsula but if you forget Blue Hill coop and Hannafords in Blue Hill are the closest grocery stores (25 minutes) so we recommend stopping on your way down. The Brooklin Country Store is nice for picking up beer and wine for dinner or last-minute items you forget. We had a great time at the farmers market on Thursdays, the town center was hopping!
If you are looking to get away, enjoy preparing your own meals, and bask in the simple pleasures that are watching gentle tides come and go this is a perfect vacation rental.

Perfect in every way
We desperately needed a break from the grind of our homebound pandemic routine and a short jaunt up the coast from Camden to Snug Cottage afforded us every respite we were seeking. Perfect size, perfect layout, perfect sweeping lawn down to the steps that lead to the remarkably tidal Herrick's Bay. Plenty of exploring along the beach and on the water (we very easily rented a kayak using your recommendation). It had been a few years since we'd spent anytime in the area and we will surely return again very soon. And when we do, I think we'll set our sights on Snug Cottage. Thank you!

A special place
Snug Cottage was perfect for me in every way. Coziness abounds in every nook of the property - indoors and out. It comes with everything you need to seclude yourself for a few days. The drive to Acadia is totally doable if you want to get the best of the park and quiet time. I hope I get to return some day!

One in a million.
Our visit to Snug Cottage will be hard to top. The house is cozy and charming—the quintessential historic Maine summer cottage. And the beach mere steps away was breathtakingly beautiful—empty and the best light. We enjoyed hearing the boats in the bay and the constant babbling brook. Brooklin is a lovely town and we can’t wait to come back.

5 Stars for Snug Cottage
We had such a fun and relaxing stay at Snug! Our three year old had the best time swimming, playing on the beach, and watching the boats. We loved grilling on the deck, enjoying drinks on the screened porch, and watching the beautiful scenery. We would highly recommend to any couple or family looking for a little getaway!

Peaceful, easy feelin’
Loved the true old style feeling of the home. Had thoughtful upgrades to make it more comfortable including a comfortable bed, pillows and linens and extra blankets for the foggy mornings curled up with a coffee. Very well appointed, welcoming. Severalcomfortable lounging spots to read; especially liked the cozy 2 person chaise on the screen porch and the hammock. The views and the beach were marvelous. Just so you know- Not completely private; right of way to beach -next to house in classic colony style of old ME summer homes.
Owners and neighbors are lovely too!
