Lovely atmosphere. Loft was well appointed and comfortable. The yard and waterfront was beautiful. We enjoyed some nice hikes in the area, and location was an easy drive to Freeport and Portland.

This was a beautiful apartment in a great location to make day trips up and down the coast. The property is amazing, overlooking an inlet off the bay.
The only nit I’d have is the part about having a beach available - at least during early August, that beach is non-existent, covered by beautiful grasses, and the swing of the tides means even if the grass weren’t there, for a good chunk of the day you’re looking over tidal mudflats. Still beautiful, but we brought beach chairs thinking there’d be a beach and there wasn’t.

Anchor Loft was a perfect spot for a beautiful and laid back trip to coastal Maine. The property is well maintained and easy to access. The loft is private and comfortable. Communication was great. Access to kayaks and bikes made it easy to explore Littlejohn and Chebeague islands. We hope to be back!

This was a perfect getaway for us. It is close to Portland, Freeport and plenty of sightseeing. It is also a great place to just relax and unplug. The island is small and charming and the nature preserve was lovely. The apartment is well equipped and the owners were responsive, helpful and friendly.

20 minutes to Portland and it feels further, a tranquil oasis on Casco Bay.
Well designed studio layout creates multiple interior spaces and the outdoor amenities are amazing (do not expect white sand beaches 😃).

Anchor Loft was meticulously maintained, extremely comfortable and provided great views of Casco Bay. Great location: walkable to Little John Preserve, easy bike ride to the Ferry / Chebeague Island, and quick drive into Portland or Freeport. Paul was helpful and very responsive in supporting our use of the bikes and kayaks provided with the unit. Very enjoyable and relaxing stay on Little John Island!!

We had the most peaceful time getting away to beautiful Long John Island and Paul and Linda made it possible! Their place is perfection. My 2 year old and I stayed for 10 days and everything from the moment we got there made me feel safe, at peace, and calm. I was slightly nervous being alone with my son and without my husband and I left in tears bc it was so magical I wanted to stay longer!! Every detail of their home is perfect. Clean, well laid out, bigger than pictures show, and the location is ideal. Paul and Linda thought of everything and all of our needs were met! Paul even helped me one morning put a bike seat on one of his bikes for my son so we could bike around the.m neighborhood. It was close to Freeport and Portland, and we spent 10 full days adventuring, hiking, biking, playing in the tide pools, and then coming home to a peaceful, restful place everyday at the anchor loft. I pray to return one day with my husband so he can share in the magic both my son and I felt there! Thank you so much!!!

The owner has provided everything one could need -- from heating pad to washer/dryer, great kitchen utensils, basic cooking condiments, and a very comfy bed. And then there were the extra goodies in the refrigerator...! I appreciated the quiet location for writing and reflection, and the nature preserve on the island that is within walking distance. A sweet spot on a very small island.

We had a wonderful mini retreat at the charming anchor loft! The loft had everything we needed, carefully designed, furnished, and organized, spotlessly clean, and with views of water everywhere. The hosts were available and responsive. We enjoyed easy access to walking trails and time sitting on the porch. We loved this place!

Where to start??!! The view and the location of the property are so beautiful. The apartment is cozy yet spacious and offers plenty of windows and a balcony where you can look out at the water while sipping your morning coffee. The property is located in walking distance to the preserve which is a huge bonus! There’s a beach on the property where you can go and swim, collect seashells, crab or just relax! Paul and Linda are so welcoming and very accommodating! We fell in love with Maine during our stay and we highly recommend booking this property so you can experience and explore all that Maine has to offer!

While the pictures are great - they did not do this beautiful spot justice. The apartment is clean, open with plenty of room and anything you need. The deck overlooks beautiful Casco Bay, and at low tide you have access to your own little rocky beach area on this quiet little island. Paul and his wife were great, and very responsive whenever we needed something. The centralized location was perfect for us to site see many places in a short period of time. I will definitely be back - thank you for a great experience!

My husband and I really enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Anchor Loft. The location is absolutely beautiful! Private and peaceful, yet convenient to restaurants and shopping. The area is great for biking, and also several walking trails are close by.
The loft was spotless, and included everything we needed for our stay. The bed was comfortable, and the loft is well designed with plenty of drawers and closet space. I especially enjoyed the ocean breeze while sitting on the deck! We will be back!

The apartment was perfect for a quick get away with my husband. It is very private. Our original plans fell through, so we improvised things to do. It took about 15 minutes to drive into Portland for the day. There are plenty of hiking spots in the area, including the nature reserve that is an easy walk from the apartment and a longer trail into Yarmouth. We used the bikes provided and took the ferry to Chebeague island and biked around stopping at many unique beaches. We would stay there again in a heart beat.

My husband & I enjoyed our stay at the Anchor Loft. Paul was very friendly and the area was gorgeous. It was a little bit of a drive to restaurants, shopping, & other attractions but it was nice to be a little secluded when we went back home for the night. There was a fun nature path close by (Little John Preserve) that was fun to walk through. The loft had everything we needed for our stay. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the mattress & pillows were uncomfortable and could stand to be replaced. Other than that we would definitely stay there again.

This loft is a perfect spot for a couple. Close enough to shopping and activities and yet a relaxing place with great views of Casco Bay.

This was our first trip to Maine. We enjoyed watching the tidal changes and walking in the Preserve on Littlejohn Island. Our accommodations were quiet and comfortable and a good convenient base for our excursions to lighthouses, forts, and Portland.

We enjoyed our time in Yarmouth. It was the perfect place for us as it was secluded yet close enough to activities that we could have nap time for our 1 year old and then still get activities in before the next nap.

This was our favorite vacation rental we have ever stayed in. The location could not have been more beautiful. The Anchor Loft was thoughtfully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was truly the perfect place to return to each day after exploring the Portland area. Highly recommend for those looking for a peaceful getaway with quick access to all the area has to offer.

Anchor Loft, the name given to this beautiful and functional one-bedroom apartment, was the perfect location for my wife and I to spend a very relaxing five nights. The views of Casco Bay from a pair of Adirondack chairs set on a point looking out over the water were stunning. The apartment offers easy driving access to Portland, Brunswick, and Freeport and is smartly appointed with all a couple might need to plan side trips or do absolutely nothing. Paul was a pleasure to deal with and to speak with. We'd love to come back!

Quite, beautiful, well located area. Great walking around the island. Rooftop deck was peaceful. Recommend this location

A wonderful place to stay in a Casco Bay Island.
The accommodations are wonderful, they are new, clean and have everything one can possibly need for a few weeks by the sea. Two observations: the internet connection is not very good, so if one requires extensive connectivity, it will be a strangle. Regular e mail is fine, VPN connections to a network will not work.
Secondly, view of the water is limited. If water view is important to you, be aware that this is a garage apartment by the water with lots if trees in front of it.
Lastly, the owners are VERY nice, friendly, accommodating and are always welcoming and happy to help in any way.
We will surely return to the cottage and Littlejohn Island as we have done for many years before.

The perfect New England getaway!
My friend and I took a long weekend trip up to Maine. The drive to the island was beautiful, especially in the fall colors and foliage! This loft could not be more charming and cozy. It’s right near the water, about a 15 min walk to a peaceful nature preserve, and about 25 mins from Portland. Thank you Paul! We wish we could have stayed forever! :)
