About this farm stay rental
Chebeague Island is relatively easy to get to and located close to Portland, Maine’s biggest city. We host by the week only in July and August but have a four day minimum in June and September. During the high summer checkout day is Sunday due to the many weddings on this lovely island.
We returned to this site after two years with a new (built in 2015) energy efficient post and beam, open plan home which we are renting to vacation families on a limited basis. This super insulated home has heat and air conditioning which makes for super comfortable sleeping.
We have included in our fees two refundable deposits for cleaning and security. Which are not labeled on the site much to our dismay.
Take our kites to the beach. Exploring this island and the many beaches is a requirement.
Walk to several beaches from this secluded property. This home is situated on a charming side road on 3 acres of mostly wooded property. We designed it with a nod to a neighborhood of cottage and farmhouse style homes. But, it is throughly modern with passive solar (shade in the summer) super insulated, Marvin windows and French doors. It is heated with mini splits, (heat pumps) which also produce AIR CONDITIONING which our guests have been very grateful to come home to after a hot day in the sun. There is a heat pump hot water heater in the basement. All appliances are fairly new, energy efficient, state of the art. A lawn and garden has been carved out of the surrounding 60 to 80' tall trees to site the house. The house is on solar but, you can’t see the panels because it is on an offsite solar farm.
We are excited to present this home for your enjoyment. While the home is compact at 1980 square feet on two floors, the open plan and many windows and their placement offer views into the outside surroundings and effectively enlarges the home. The roofed over wrap around deck enlarges the living space to well over 2000 square feet. Many of our guests spend a lot of time on the porch reading and relaxing or viewing the deer, turkeys and woodpeckers.
A large entry greets you as you enter with a view throughout the first floor. The kitchen has a large French door refrigerator with two drawers below, a Farmhouse sink and island with seating. We have all the pots, dishes, glasses and silverware you need including a lobster pot and everything you need for a fabulous lobster dinner.
On the second floor the master bedroom is lovely with a white iron scroll queen bed, armoire, bureau and end tables with lamps, beautiful flower rug. It opens to a sitting area. The center of the house is open to the roof beams. With a sitting area, desk and couch for quiet reading. Also on the second floor are two bedrooms, each with twin beds and a bath with deep soaking tub and handheld shower. Enjoy summer breezes through the treetops while bathing in our soaking tub.
On the first floor, the 100 year old dining table seats six. The "Away" room contains seating and a large armoire holding a Smart TV and games We have internet for your convenience. First floor bath has a large old fashioned sink and a good size shower, cabinet for towels. Nestled close by is the washer and dryer in it's own nook.
Walk through the French doors in the dining/kitchen area onto the covered porch with seating, a bit further takes you to a picnic table with umbrella and grill. The porch is great for sitting outdoors when it rains or just sitting in the summer shade.
Grill outside on the propane stove and have a lovely dinner on the picnic table as the sun slips down over the trees to the west. Take a walk outside either through the woods or down the road to a beach. Or, just enjoy the birds, turkeys and deer that come into the yard. We have croquet and kites for your enjoyment.
Chebeague has two ferry services, one owned by the islanders, gift shops, island grocery, library and many places to have lunch or dinner with views. Have lunch at the Inn on the porch. You will be glad you did. There is a lot going on in the summer. We offer sailing lessons for children, drama coaching and a summer play produced locally, golf clinics, a great library with story hour, hiking out to Deer Point or one of the many beaches. Or, learn about the history of Chebeague at the old Schoolhouse/Historic Society and shop in it’s gift shop.
It is a short hop to the mainland to sightsee or have dinner in Portland. Portland is one of the great foodie cities in the northeast, while keeping the ambience of an old New England city. Also, the museums and shops are excellent. Well worth a day trip into town. There are also wonderful restaurants in Yarmouth, closer to the ferry.
Visit the famous LLBean and their Outdoor Discovery School which has become one of Maine’s premier destinations for shopping and learning about Maine’s outdoors.

I stayed with my family for a week and we had a great time. The house was well stocked and best of all had A/C which helped us survive a few hot days.
The only thing to note is that the guidebook in the house is a little out of date so make sure to do some of your own research. You will want to bring your own bikes (can't rent from the inn anymore) and/or a car because having a form of transportation is essential.
Overall I would recommend this house to anyone looking to spend a relaxing week in Maine.

Patricia was easy to contact and she responded quickly . Her home is beautiful and stocked with everything you should need. We were at the island for a family wedding, so we didn’t spend much time at the home but when we did it was cozy and comfortable.
Thank you Patricia

Beautiful modernized home with all the comforts on a wonderful island. So much to do on the island that we didn’t come close to exploring all the spots with just one week. The hosts were very attentive and the house was immaculate. Will definitely be back next year!

Patricia was very responsive whenever I sent her a text. She was also there to help us arrive and leave, a necessity considering how busy the dock area is and the lack of rental cars on the island. The house itself has plenty of rooms and beds. The AC was amazing when we used it. The yard around the house was well maintained and the kids loved exploring the area. Biking all over the island wasn't difficult, but the car that was available was much appreciated! There's a lot to be said for how amazing the island is, bit Patricia's guide included a lot of information on all that's available. Thanks for having us!

Perfect family reunion
The house and island were beautiful. Patricia and Roman were wonderful hosts who made arrival and departure a breeze, and we're very responsive and accommodating. The island is easy to navigate and the beaches are all unique, and kid friendly with small waves, gentle entries, and plenty of seashells, hermit crabs and snails. My kids (2 and 3) loved exploring, digging, and splashing.
If you have young kids definitely bring strollers. The use of the island car was a wonderful bonus for making it easy to reach all corners of the island with the entire family.

Fabulous, comfy home on an amazing island!
We had just a 4-day get-away, but it was absolutely spectacular! Pat's home is gorgeous - warm and comfy - with everything you need to have a relaxing stay!
Pat and Roman were super kind and accommodating. They made sure we had a ride from the ferry and use of the car, and Pat provided lots of details regarding the house, where to dine, etc. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Solitude in nature
Patricia has created an oasis for peace and serenity. The house is designed with love. Every part of area of her home offers comfort. We loved sitting around the massive kitchen island, sipping tea and coffee, planning our next island adventure. The island offers a plethora of charming coves, picturesque vistas and pure nature. We saw turkeys, deer and water fowl. Waldo Point was our fav spot to sun on the rocks. This is a magical spot!

Wonderful stay at Woodlands House!
Our September week at Woodlands House provided luxury and simplicity. The home was beautifully furnished and very well stocked for cooking, reading and relaxing. We enjoyed reading and eating on the wide covered porch. The location mid-way on the island allowed for walking to beaches on both ends of the island, and a short walk to the Island Market and Library. Took one trip to main land and one trip to Cliff Island. Our adult daughter, mom and brother all loved our visit! Patricia and Roman are wonderful hosts. We would love to return. Beach, people, weather, food, island life -- PERFECT!
We had an island car which was very useful for transporting goods and for exploring remoter areas. We had a baby with us so long walks were less fun for her! The house was nicely located near hotel, golf, tennis. Our favorite beach turned out to be at the opposite end of the island -- just a 5 minute car ride away!. Could not find bikes to rent which was too bad. Highly recommend Chebeague. House was lovely. Read three books, cooked a mountain of food! Everyone was so friendly and helpful -- luggage, boats, rides. All good!

Beautiful Home with great amenities.
We enjoyed staying in Pat’s beautiful home. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils we could have needed. It was nice to have the option of air conditioning as we were there during one of the hottest weeks. Having the car was an awesome bonus! Pat does have a number of rules to follow while in the house but that is what keeps her home so beautiful.

Beautiful house! Close to everything.
I was recently married on Chebeague Island. My family stayed in the house and we used it for all the Bridesmaids to get ready the morning of. It was perfect. It's open and airy, nicely decorated. The backyard is big and has a grill. The owners allowed us to use their car and even delivered it to us at the ferry. They were also responsive and easy to deal with. Highly recommend!

Sophisticated, Secluded with Access!
We spent 6 days at The Woodlands. The house is lovely - great modern convenience with eclectic decor. Excellent kitchen to cook in with options to eat in and outdoors. Patricia was very hospitable - she even picked us up from the ferry! READ her the letter she sends before your trip, it is full of information!!! We enjoyed what Chebeague had to offer - Indian point beach is a must! We dined at Slow Bell and The Chebeague in (plus cocktails on the patio one night). Doughty's had every thing we needed to compliment our shopping trips to Portland. Few must do while visiting Chebeague - Contact Chebeague Water Taxi and do the lobster experience. We were able to board a lobster boat, observe the process and take home FRESH lobsters from the sea. Visit Eagle Island and Jewell Island for some history, a cool hike and amazing tidal pools. The Dolphin was a fun restaurant to take a water taxi and have dinner. Finally, Portland has amazing food both restaurants and fresh catch to cook back at the Woodlands. We will be back to Casco Bay!

A Comfortable Home and a Relaxing Island Visit.
Our gracious host met us at the ferry dock, took us and all our gear to her home, then showed us around and explained how everything worked. The house was modern and quite comfortable for our extended family of six (four adults and two young children). the guest book prepared by the owner told us all about the island and its features, and we took advantage of most of them.
We prepared several meals at the house (including lobster!) but also took advantage of dining at the Inn, the Slow Bell, and the Niblic. Several hours were spent relaxing on the porch while the children examined and counted their seashells and the adults read and conversed. Everyone enjoyed our stay and finished the week very relaxed.

Woodlands House Chebeague Island
We found Patricia's house to be very clean and comfortable for our week on Chebeague Island. We especially enjoyed the wrap-around porch where we spent a good portion or our time. The woodland setting gave us the sense of being secluded even though the house is a short distance from the road. We were on the island for our son's wedding. Since the wedding venue was at the other end of the island we appreciated having the option to use the 'island car' Patricia made available to us. We were easily able to get to the various beaches and sites and all of the wedding festivities throughout the week. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us Patricia.

Wonderful Post and Beam Home
The home was pristine and well appointed in a quiet rural area of Chebeague Island. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the deer and wild turkeys pass by. Spent most of the time when home outside when weather permitted. Walked everywhere but it was a bit of a trek as much as I enjoy walking. Went to the Inn most days Ebb and Thyme had great sandwiches. Enjoyed the people on the island - most friendly and welcoming. Would recommend a car to make it easier to get to different parts of the island.

Relaxing get away
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Chebeague Island. The house was comfortable and well stocked. We brought clothes and some food with us and the house had everything else we needed.
The island is a great place to explore on foot or bike. Use of a vehicle during our stay was just a luxury. For the days we didn't feel like exploring, the house was a perfect place to relax.
Patrica was wonderful to work with. She was always responsive to any questions and kindly checked in by email to see if there was anything we needed.
If you're looking for a home base to explore the island or just relax, I would highly recommend this house.

Serene vacation in efficient, post and beam home
Our first stay on Chebeague Island was motivated by the opportunity to stay in this wonderful property, newly built to the specifications of its very pleasant and accommodating owner, Patricia Festino. The home is exceptionally well equipped and appointed, all within the solid charm of post and beam construction. The quiet surroundings were a delight for us, especially from the vantage point of the ample porch. Through the canopy and lateral spaces of the lightly wooded lot, which is not far from the east shore of the island, we witnessed and enjoyed much of the changing island weather. This feature alone, made our stay quite special. Overall, it is hard to rank the many pluses that this vacation rental has to offer. We are looking forward to returning as often as we can. Thank you, Patricia and Roman for a terrific stay!

Beautiful, off the beaten path retreat
We (a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 boys 5 & 8) stayed here in late August. We knew very little about Chebeague Island before embarking on our adventure. But we managed to figure things out with the help of the owner, the internet and speaking to locals on the island. There was a simplicity to Chebeague that welcomed us with open arms. We had fun walking the beaches, searching for sea glass, swimming at the community pool, driving around the island, eating at the Inn, Slow Bell Cafe, and breakfast at the Niblic. Everyone we encountered was warm and friendly.
The house was gorgeous and well appointed. It had everything we needed and more. We felt very cozy - playing in the yard, sitting on the porch, playing games in the living room, cooking in the kitchen... I loved the decor and modern conveniences of brand new everything (appliances, washer dryer, bathrooms).
Chebeague is a magical place. It was certainly for us. But one word of caution, if you're reading this wondering about the "night life" on Chebeauge, or looking to party, then perhaps this little island isn't for you. It's slower here. Be prepared to slow down, unwind, take time. A funny side note, there was a garage/store on the island and there was a painted sign outside that said "if you don't have 20 minutes then don't stop". I think that adequately sums up Chebeague. If you don't have time to take the time then this might not be the place for you. But if you are looking to mellow out and be off the grid for a few days then definitely consider this place. You won't regret it.
Thank you to Patricia Festino, the owner, for sharing her beautiful place with us.

A great family vacation at the Woodlands Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully designed, spacious and open post and beam farmhouse cottage on Chebeague Island. This was our first stay at the cottage but it won't be our last! The cottage is slightly tucked away from the road giving you privacy but still an easy bike or car ride to many of the wonderful places the island has to offer. The house was very comfortable for our family of four. With two young children it was great to have all the modern kitchen amenities and the new finishings but with an old farmhouse style. The house is amazingly energy efficient. We had a couple very hot days, so it was great to have central air even though we only had to keep it on to cool the house and then we would turn it off and the house would stay cool for the remainder of the day. The house also has very good internet and cell phone service for the island, a nice plus! Patricia was a fantastic host. Always reachable by phone or text with any questions. We look forward to our next visit.

Great island experience at the wonderful Woodlands house!
My family and I spent a great week at this beautiful house on Chebeague Island. Newly built in a classic style and tastefully appointed, we found it comfortable and practical. The spacious kitchen made cooking a breeze, and the open floor plan kept everyone connected. The bathrooms were roomy; the kids especially enjoyed the oversized tub in the 2nd floor bath. We had plenty of natrual light from all the windows and were grateful for the AC on the warmer evenings. The central location made it easy to enjoy all that Chebeague has to offer. Don't miss out on this island gem!
