Very charming lodge tucked away from the hustle. The staff was very friendly and the property is very well maintained and clean. They offer free boating on the lake, you can feed the ducks…made our family stay so enjoyable and memorable! At the end of our trip we realized we spent more time in the lodge doing things, than visiting places around.
Wish there was an option for lunch/dinner on the property. As it’s quite a drive from the main town of Santa Elena, some meal options might help the guests.

Alles, was man braucht.

Room was very nice, breakfast was delicious, front desk was extremely friendly, and the views and outdoor areas of the hotel are truly spectacular. We walked around the lake and woods they had and felt like it was our own private estate!
It's an amazing place. The only thing to be aware of is that it is a bit of a ways out of town, ~15m of bumpy driving from most of the monteverde activities. But 1000% worth it for how nice it is!

The property is really nice and very well kept
It’s a little secluded.

Rien.

The location and the small hike on the property is nice.
When paying so much money you would expect heating and warm water. Both was not existing. The area gets cold at night, up to 12 degrees. But the rooms have NO HEATING but the hotel provides an electric small heater. I was sleeping in a hiking jacket and our small boy in his jumper and still we were cold while sleeping. The room would not heat up enough to be able to take a shower comfortably and the water at the sink was only cold. When asking the front desk to adjust our booking as we were too cold and could not sleep another night in such a cold place with a two year old, they were not helpful at all. Customer service zero and as always in Costa Rica, no price value ratio that anyone can relate too. Charging loads of money for rooms that would cost in other places 50€.

beautiful scenery & gorgeous grounds. modern rooms. birds galore. attentive and kind hosts. delicious breakfast.
A tad out of town but so worth it. you do not need 4x4 — it is worth the extra 10 minute drive. felt nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Sehr schönes Hotel in absolut ruhiger Lage.
Ohne Auto/Taxi geht nichts.

Great breakfast.
Many things to do with kids - feeding fishes, ducks, games etc.
The boats are currently out of order.

A wonderful surprise! A beautiful lodge nested in the middle of the Cloud Forest..... a little secluded, but peaceful and quiet!!! Emel was super helpful, the place is spotless clean, the views are nice... what else?
I would only add a couple of chaise-longues and/or hammacks for sunbathing (yes, there are some sunny times in the Cloud Forest).

Great accommodation with very helpful hosts. Burbi eggs for breakfast highly recommended. We enjoyed the zip lining and the hanging bridges.
It was quite a drive to the town and the roads are a real challenge. It was very windy.

Nice new convenient hotel next to Rainforest that is small but more impressive than National Park. All staff were very attentive (Carlos at the reception helped us a lot - Muchas Gracias Carlos !).
Perfect location - only 10 mins from Santa Elena and all its attractions but in the mountains in the forest and at the lake - perfect combination).
Nice common area with delicious banana cake and costarican coffee 24/7
Quiet and pleasant.
Basic but really tasty breakfast prepared with care.
Tip - prioritize going to Monteverde Hanging bridges over the Park itself - you can really immerse yourself into rainforest.
Hotel is located in mountains so you will not need A/C ( rather additional blanket)
It is not really downside - be prepared that road from St Elena to hotel is unpaved. But it is standard in Costa Rica so no surprise.
There’s no restaurant in the hotel (which is ok you are in the mountains right ?) so better take something to go from one of the restaurants in the town.
Other people have right. Walls could be thicker but it is not a big issue at all. Overall it is very quiet there.

The staff was very helpful and patient with questions. The rooms are new and nicely done with all necessities and a beautiful view of the lake and property. We had no problem driving our rental car there. We liked staying up in the mountains away from the city.

Location was great because it’s right in the middle of the mountain. Rooms were super nice and clean with a great view. They give you a very warm welcome and lots of information about the place. Everything was carefully attended to (rooms, gardens, lake). Breakfast was very good.

Ernesto is great
Location is far from town but beautiful and highly recommend

The road to the property is typical for Costa Rica countryside. We do recommend travelers to drive during the daytime for better visibility in cloudy mountains. The hotel is located in cloud forest area and ideal for people who love outdoor life. There are 12 rooms on the property and they are clean, comfortable and facing the small lake. Staff is on property from 7 am to 7 or 9pm and are extremely knowledgeable about activities and people in the surrounding areas. Emel made great recommendations for our self-guided tour in Sant Elena Cloud Forest Reserve which has 8 hanging bridges, a guided tour in Curt-Cancha Reserve which is a cloud forest park, and a Don Juan coffee-chocolate-sugarcane tour. They all are fairly charged and well organized. We liked our guider so much and added a night walk with him and saw many exotic birds, some snakes and other mammals. We also liked the fact we can hear the neighboring farmers around the hotel to tend their cows and bourses in the early morning, and ordinary people ride motorcycles to/from work in early morning and midnight. You got a glance of Costa Rica people’s life. The hotel is 20 minutes away from the town called Santa Elena which has supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and the town is a few minutes away from various attractions. Hotel breakfast starts at 6:30AM and is good and fresh. We love the eggs which taste so good. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cakes are served after breakfast and throughout the day until 10PM.

The staff, the view, the property and the comfort of the room.
We didn’t realize the restaurant didn’t serve anything but breakfast. Without a car it meant we had to get cans every time we wanted to eat.

Far from activists.
Breakfast is very simple

Beautiful property! Good size room- comfortable, modern room for our family of five. Common area with tea/coffee/ banana bread/ other snacks open til 10pm. Helpful, friendly staff. Wonderful, short hike on property and the lake is lovely. Surprisingly nice breakfast for a small lodge.
The drive is completely fine in 4X4 from Santa Elena but you aren’t running back to the hotel between activities. Thin walls, we could hear our neighbors clearly (but they went to bed quickly). If you want a luxury resort close to town, this isn’t the place. If you want a different experience removed from the craziness of Santa Elana and can accept a few modified comforts (wonky showers and no hot water in taps) this is a wonder stay!

We loved our stay at the Burbi Lake Lodge. Our suite was very comfortable with large modern bathroom, comfy bed and beautiful views of the lake and surrounding forests. Breakfast was fantastic and Ernesto was such a helpful and gracious host. We had an easy time finding the lodge by downloading the route on Google Maps in advance. Be sure to take your time on the roads getting there - a little bumpy in areas, but lots of beautiful views along the way.
Loved it all

Breakfast was good. Location was beautiful, but not super convenient.
Shower wasn't hot or even warm in one of our rooms.

An absolutely gorgeous property with modern rooms that are comfortable and well designed. The breakfast is amazing and the staff incredibly helpful.
This property is far away from the main attractions of Monteverde, or at least from the main town with all the restaurants. Just in general, it’s not recommended to go to Monteverde with a sedan, and the roads to this location definitely merits an SUV ideally.
