The service was very personal and they staff were so sweet! They made us feel very welcome and the excursions were our favorite part
There were a couple bugs in our room but they can’t control that! Just bring bug spray

This place was amazing! Super quiet and close to the entrace of the nacional park (25min).
Amazing view from the balcony to the forest and the best part was the confy hammock outside :)
Super clean and great shower with hot water. We also hal delicious meals at their restaurant.
Everything was perfect!

We are looking forward to returning to Rinconcito Lodge! The whole place is comfortable, we liked our junior mountain suite very much, the staff friendly and helpful, food is very good with an easy-going schedule so we only ate two meals a day, perfect for us. The nesting colony of montezuma oropendola birds at the entrance is amazing! Westayed 4 nights And I’m glad we did. This allowed us to rest one day, then took the combo tour on our second day - Horseback ride into the Santa Maria part of the park, wonderful fun and private uncrowded zip line tour with our guides Jose and Ronald, and continued further into the park on horse guided by Terencio who took us deeper into the park eventually on foot to the warm springs river and waited very patiently while we had lunch there and enjoyed the warm waters. he even helped us with the mud. our third day we drove ourselves into the Pailas sector of the park and did our own hiking tour. Rinconcito is a peaceful place with no pressure. as far as we can tell the rooms are all very nice with a range of qualities from smaller rooms close together to the more separate mountain suites that we stayed in. oh a great trail on the property to a waterfall we swam under too.
We don’t have anything to complain about with the place. No problems. Visitors from North America should understand this is not an American style resort. Instead it is a Tico local style lodge located close to the park in the beautiful forest on the borders of the volcano area. It’s run by warm local people.

The bed was comfortable and they had air conditioning
There wasn't actually a view (which I specifically upgraded to get.) It was blocked by trees. No wifi in your rooms. Food wasn't very good but was very expensive.

Nice Garden with many birds. Room was nice and bad was comfy.
After a very long day of driving and hiking in the park — all I wanted to do was take a nice hot shower. I got into it and turned the hot water in to find it was cold. I began to soap up assuming it would heat up— it never did. I couldn’t leave the shower now as I full of soap! I went to the receptionist and told her what happened. Turns out the breaker was off do they turned it on and so my partner was able to have a hot shower. I complained about this bc for close to $100 a night— the minimum is having a hot shower. The manager did not care one bit. They offered me nothing to compensate: not a free breakfast, dinner, a partial discount — nothing. They simply don’t give a damn about their clients. That there were bugs on the sheets as well. That night I had a terrible meal at dinner of beef steak which was half gristle and fat — totally inedible. Would not recommend for the high price!

location! aghhh

Rinconcito Lodge is located at the Rincon de la Vieja National Park more to the Santa Maria entrance the the La Parieta. Just be aware of it, you need to drive ca. 30 min to get there.
The lodge itself is situated in a nice area, there are beautiful walking paths with great views to the volcanos that belong to the premises.
The room was basic but very spacious and clean, each room has a nice hammock outside.
Breakfast and dinner were simple but good. All in all this is a good place to stay for one or two nights.
Nothing to complain about. Just be aware that you need a car to get around.

Good location to explore the area.
Clean rooms, well furnished.
Hot water!!
Restaurant food overall was good, choose the meal option to have soup, main course and natural juice drink included for $11.
Appeared to cater well for the big groups that arrived.
Nice swimming pool and grounds.
Nice to have a couple of drink options in the mini bar, with prices similar to the restaurant.
Take plenty of insect repellant, you are in a rain forest.
It’s incredibly windy so ear plugs will help you sleep.
Staff in the restaurant were generally good.
Lots of staff seem new, struggled to answer basic questions and provide information.
We asked whether the juice with dinner could be switched for a local beer (same price), and were told yes. But were later charged for it.
No activities offered, just given a map to take ourselves to the national park. Yet lots of reviews mention tours, zip lining etc
Breakfast could have been better for the price. No cereals, no preserves for the toast, limited fresh fruit (even seasonal).
Lodge wasn’t cheap for Costa Rica, when you take into account what you got. But there are limited places to stay in the area and this was better value than most. We paid $113 incl tax for “superior” room (2 double beds).
Mosquito screen in our room had big gap around the edge. Plus the door onto the terrace didn’t lock. Worrying with easy access from neighbouring terraces.
We stayed for 2 nights and anticipated more bottled water to be supplied on the second day, but it wasn’t.
Menu didn’t have lots of choice, but plenty for 2 or 3 nights.
No coffee maker or kettle in the room.
Not great sound proofing in the rooms, though this was mostly drowned out by the wind.

Staff were extremely friendly, facilities were amazing and the food were really good!
Nothing to complain about. Just couldn't make the TV work, but I don't know if it was me or the TV.
3.5
The room and the terrace with hammock were nice and comfortable
- The road to the room (upstairs) was very bad, can be damaging to your car.
- The food in the restaurant needs to be improved, staff was nice though.
4.5
Small and unpretentious but nice room and friendly staff.
4.5
The spacious room with view into the jungle from a big balcony. Perfect for bird watching in the morning. Very nice pool area and delicious food (breakfast and dinner),
The 100 m entrance road which is rocky and bumpy does not match the rest of the lodge. This should be improved.
4.0
The breakfast and food were very good. The restaurant staff was great and kind. The room was big and the beds are comfortable.
The reception staff was not very helpful and emphatic. They didn’t allow us to check-in earlier when apparently there were only 2 rooms occupied.
5.0
The staff, especially Noel and the cleanness
I wish there was a better view of the valley from the room
3.0
it’s well located, close to the park
the hotel is a little old, some renovations are needed.
there is nobody at night on the property, I suggest you to tell them that you’re going out otherwise you will find the gate closed. the front desk is not helpful at all.

We loved everything about our stay. The staff was lovely, the food was good and the room (superior with mountains view) was very nice and comfy.
Everything was perfect for our two nights stay. Thanks to Noël and all the team !

I recommend to pay little bit more to get room with terrace and then enjoy your experience twice more! Garden is well maintained and like paradise with all its birds and jungle noise in night time.
We booked via reception jungle tour (just 19USD per person) in their own [huge] properties and it was just the amazing crazy thing to do! We saw during 2,5hour walk 2 snakes (one of them was the poisonoust in Costa Rica - fer de lance!), tarantels, huge cockroaches, some frogs, some kind of big bird and experienced amazing jungle noise with high adrenaline level during the whole tour (probably because of snakes and spiders:)). Highly recommended to book that tour as extra thing to your stay…
Breakfast was good, lunch+dinner options+service was nice :) National park withits volcanic wonders is very close by. Staff speaks English and is super helpful!

The cabins are big. The Nicaraguan guy who does the horsebackriding-trips is very friendly.
The cabins are not very cosy nor comfortable. This place needs an update from the 80’ies to the 2020’ies. The room did not look like the pictures. The food is rather basic, big local dogs in the restaurant, and for the first time in 14 days in Costa Rica I got intestinal problems from the food - so I ate only 1 dinner and 1 breakfast in 2 days. They didn’t refund the breakfast I had paid for but didn’t eat.
Although they told me their visitors are mostly from Western-Europe, the staff is speaking very bad English compared to other places in Costa Rica. The hairdryer was not working, the doorlocks are crappy and they have ridiculous large keychains.
4.0
Nice pool for the kids to cool down, the food and staff in the restaurant are great, beautiful environment, horseback riding can be done from the hotel which is good fun including a refreshing dive in a freshwater (mini) pond. Beds in the superior room are really big and comfortable.
A bit remote, hiking trails in the near area are not amazing. Some of the front-desk staff speak limited English.
4.5
Large room, comfortable bed, fridge and a hammock infront of the room! The rooms with garden view have a fan, the ones with mountain view an AC.
The snacks in the restaurant were delicious and the breakfast buffet even more delicious.
Slightly dated pool and pool furniture but surrounded by a really beautiful garden with lots of flowers, birds and some chicken running around.
3.5
The hotel is located in the beautiful setting near the national park and hot springs. There is a nice swimming pool and we’ll maintained grounds. On site restaurant serves food all day:
The room was too small for 2 beds. The beds were noisy and there was no mattress cover on neither of them. The room did not have an AC and was very hot during the day. The price seems reasonable at first. However, when you have to pay breakfast and an entrance fee to the hot springs it is comparable to the neighboring Hacienda Guachipelin where the hot springs and breakfast are included.
4.0
Beautiful seating in neat the national park. Nice walking trails in n the hotel grounds. Beautifully maintained gardens and pool. Restaurant open all day on premises.
Room too small for two beds, very crowded. No coffee pot in the room. Broken window louvers. Very noisy metal roof being hit by branches all night. Doors on rattling all night in the wind. Food served in the restaurant could be better.
4.5
The Jura coffee machine! Avery large and comfortable room with a huge hammock. Good location and friendly stuff. Food was great
Coffee from the good machine only at evenings. For breakfast they put the hole machine away! Found that a bit embarrassing.
I love fotography and my goal
was as many photos from animals as possible. The best chance in CR you have during night walks. Most lodges offer a night tour. I was arriving late and didn’t think about it and they didn’t ask. No signs, no posters, no information. At the time I asked, the group already left. I was really pissed off because it was my last chance. The tour started really early 5:30 pm and they didn’t have a second tour.
4.5
the variety of levels and cleanliness
that standard rooms do not have air conditioning but we’re able to upgrade at a reasonable rate to a lovely cottage
