Lovely accommodation, rooms were gorgeous and the dog was pampered too with a lovely bed, bowl and treats. Nothing was too much trouble and staff very attentive.
Nothing I didn’t like but would like more dinner options if you don’t feel like a 3 course meal.

Lovely welcome a beautiful room and tranquil location. Breakfast was delicious and really good coffee. We caught the Cromarty to Nigg ferry so this was the perfect location for us. After dinner out we had drinks in the bar and Euan was a wonderful host.

Beautiful location in a peaceful area of skye. Very nice lounge and dining areas. Easy access to all areas of Skye.

Hotel was beautiful and room excellent. The hotel although lovely did not have a lot of do for families as not pool spa etc but absolutely beautiful place , great rooms and very friendly staff
Not great for family

Staff was lovely. Rooms were beautiful and so week decorated. Place was beautiful
No options for dinner on any night. Restaurant closed all three nights we were there. So coming in late there was only an option of a small charcuterie plate for two people. We got breakfast two days and third they said only berries and yogurt. So lack of food was the biggest issue.

* Large room with good-sized bathroom
* Comfortable king-size bed
* Good breakfast options
* Absolute silence - this place is in the middle of a field and it was amazing!
Nothing!

Best property in Scotland during our 3 week long trip. The cottages are beyond all expectations - two bedrooms, massive space, amazing quality

The rooms were newly furnished and it was clean.
The sight of oil rigs in the nearby bay was an initial disappointment as we had thought we had booked accommodation in a beautiful location. If you were able to ignore these, the location was pleasant. New Hall Mains would have benefited by additional gardens rather than lawn. We understand there is an airstrip at New Hall Mains requiring open space, nonetheless some garden would be feasible to improve the aesthetic, making it feel more integrated to the landscape than exposed.
We had to drive around a little to find the entrance, which was frustrating as we could see it whilst not be able to get to it. Once familiar with the entrance location it wasn’t an issue.
The room itself, whilst it had been newly refurbished and was clean, was essentially an attic room with skylights and therefore had no view. We could have been anywhere, negating booking accommodation in a rural setting. Making it known to staff that we would prefer a room with a view we were told all the rooms were the same, and whilst we could see other rooms on the ground floor these were not offered to us. We did stay for several nights and perhaps an attic is ok for one night, but if staying longer future guests may wish to enquire about the alternative rooms in advance.
The room did have a small mini-bar, however the one night (around 11pm) we tried to have a cocktail we found the restaurant and bar closed and no one around. We made a meal request one day for the next evening and were told they would ask the chef, and no one got back to us leaving us wondering if it was going to be provided or not. As New Hall Mains is in a rural location alternatives to the restaurant means driving into a nearby town for take aways.

Truely a magical experience! We want to thank Euan and the team specifically for being such amazing hosts! The little details and touches make this place so special. We travelled for my birthday and although we caused an inconvenience for the team in the middle of the night, Euan couldn’t have handled the situation better. We hope you will have us as again soon.
Everything was just perfect! Thank you!

We were a family of 6 and I can't stress enough just how beautiful the whole estate is. The lodge we were in has been tastefully and carefully restored perfectly. Thee living room is built around a log burner that felt extra cosy in the cold winter night! The beds were comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils, glasses, pots etc. I'd certainly recommend New Hall Main to anybody looking for a slice of luxury, in a gorgeous part of the world.
While almost everything was perfect, i have to say that I think the breakfasts need beefing up a little bit. A full Scottish breakfast needs to be a plate full and has to have some haggis, maybe even some hashbrowns/potato scones and some beans. The plates felt a little empty for my liking (but this could also be because I eat like a pig :D)

The breakfast was delicious. The house was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having a kitchen.
The only problem we had was that the dryer was broken during our entire stay. We chose this destination specifically to be able to wash our clothes during a long trip to the UK.

A beautiful building expertly renovated to very high standard. Breakfast was amazing, as were the very friendly staff.

The accommodation was superb, stylish and no expense was spared in the renovation, decoration and fittings. Everything was high quality. The setting was stunning, surrounded by peaceful wheat fields and farmland.
The staff were just lovely, accommodating and friendly, we enjoyed all the time we spent in the bar and eating (The bar only serves light snacks, not meals, they are however, delicious)
Newhall would have been one of our new favourite and frequently visited places and this review would have easily been 10/10 had it not been for the poor experience on the last day.
Unfortunately, our stay at this lovely place was marred by a catalogue of disasters on our last day, and no matter how hard we try, it overshadowed the otherwise wonderful and thus far perfect experience.
There were a few issues though the crux was, - we had a business meeting a few miles away at 11 o’clock, our plan was to eat, then head back to our accommodation to pack and shower, check out and head to our meeting.
We turn up for breakfast at 9.30, get our drinks, though 30 mins before my partner's correct drink arrived (after 3 attempts to get an order of hot water correct) Come 10.20, my partner leaves to pack not having finished her drink and not having eaten. I then ask how long breakfast will be as we have a meeting at 11 and we need to leave soon. We were told ours is coming next, yet 10 minutes later I was told that what we ordered was not available.
The issue appeared to be that staff didn’t show up as ‘They were ‘pinged’ during the night’ We understand problems occur and nothing is easy in the current climate, we are very understanding of these situations. All it needed when we arrived for breakfast was, sorry, we have limited staff and breakfast service will be delayed just to give us options, choosing to not have breakfast at 9.30 would have been our best option. This situation as it happened resulted in us turning up for a business meeting without having showered, without breakfast and late, not the best way to arrive at a meeting. There was no apology from the breakfast staff, though on check out there was and a £36 discount (4%) off an £800 bill and obviously not charged for the breakfast that we didn’t have.
My daughter, partner and I eventually got breakfast at a different establishment after our meeting at 3 pm.
My advice to Newhall is to drop the food, and stick to the accommodation, which to be fair is fabulous.
As it stands, I couldn’t recommend Newhall for business travellers.

Its was pretty perfect. 😍
4.7
the interior design of the cottage, the re-furb of the building, the bar staff,
for the price I thot it would be 5 star check-in but was not the case. the whole design is aesthetically pleasing but not practical (ie bath in the bedroom water goes everywhere, underfloor heating is stuffy, check out was 10am which is stressful with a baby, bar food was 17 quid and was literally a small appetiser we were so hungry)

Location was amazing. Very comfortable too with an amazing shower.
Dressing gowns supplied were a small. VERY small.

It’s a beautifully renovated 200-year old farm. The interior design is exquisite! We stayed in one of the rooms (not a self-catering cottage). The shower was incredible and the bed was like a cloud—we slept great. We spent most of our evening in the on-site bar and restaurant; the cocktails were top-class and we had the most delicious lobster roll. The breakfast was superb too!

Absolutely everything. Staff on the ball. Dream setting and impressive conversion of an historic property into a top notch home from home. Food simple and perfectly executed. The whole place punches way above its current belt and was quite the best value for money we've had in years. If I had a pilots license I would visit more often and park just outside the gate.
Having to leave after just one night.
