What a beautiful corner of Monteverde. Our cabin looked out over fields and forests and hills, with many hummingbirds visiting the bushes by the patio. Jose is a really friendly and helpful host. The location is great for El Tigre waterfalls and the Santa Elena park. It is also not too far out of the local town, car ride but easily reachable. Just wonderful
Nothing, absolutely fantastic

The beautiful scenery was so very peaceful. We loved all the views, and especially hiking the property with the pirate map. Great beds and soft bedding! Jose was exceptionally helpful with info about the area and reservations.
Scorpions in the cabin made us wish for stands to keep our suitcases off the floor. And we ran out of hot water in the shower among the 5 of us.

Wow! This was the best place we stayed at during our stay in Costa Rica. Plenty of room for our family of 5 in the most amazing forest setting. We got to see loads of birds, even a coati... and we did not even hike the nearby trails. Feeding the calves at the finca was a great experience for our little one. Jose was incredibly communicative and helpful. The casita was very clean, and well equipped. Big comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious. We could get some well-needed laundry done. Perfect!
Nothing. The road to the house was a bit rough so you had to be careful in places.

Our cabin was right in the middle of the forest, really lovely location and views
We don’t have a single thing we didn’t like

The worst night we ever had!!!!
We didn't really liked anything - We left after one night although we had booked 2 nights - We prefered to lose our money than to stay one more night in this place
We looked forward to getting to the house after a long drive. The host was friendly and waited for us.
It was a stormy night, and there was strong wind and rain.
We got to the house - It wasn't as it looked in the pictures - it was outdated and not well-maintained, but it was ok for us to stay for a couple of nights.
The roof is very thin - the rain was heavy, and the roof amplified the sound of the rain - It was unbearable to sleep this way - the kids were terrified as it was very heavy and the wind came through the door like a hunted house - it was a real horror movie. My wife didn't want to stay, but it was too late to look for a new place.
I reached out to the host, and he stopped being friendly and treat us that we were trying to find reasons to cancel the reservation and that it was too late to cancel it.
We travel a lot - we never had such an experience, not even close! Early in the morning, we packed our stuff and looked for a new place - We couldn't stay there one more night. We were tired as we couldn't sleep all night - we had to waste time and go to sleep - we lost a full day of our trip.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - It was the worst night we ever had - We will never forget it!
We come to vacation, spend lots of money and energy, and we want to enjoy and have fun and not waste our energy on this situation.

Jose was extremely helpful with check in and recommendations for activities. He helped with or made reservations for us and we enjoyed everything he suggested!
Inconsistency with water first day but was resolved once we brought it to their attention.

Quiet,, friendly staff, location fairly remote, but that is what attracted us to it. Hiking trails on property -active farm, close to other hiking opportunities
Hot water in shower only - in mini kitchen we heated water to wash dishes. This was not an inconvenience for us but may be for others....

Loved the location. It's in a beautiful small mountain town just outside of Monteverde. On a ranch! That was so fun. Breakfast provided was good. There is a fun and gorgeous mountain hike to complete on the property. Be sure to read the directions, unlike us! Lol. Great stay here.
Room was a little stuffy due to little air flow

In the country, close to town, and the owner is very helpful. It’s in an area where there’s a lot of wind which I loved.
Could have been a little cleaner.

Jose was extremely helpful and responsive, helping us book our activities. We appreciated that breakfast foods were provided and we still talk about the homemade butter, it was so good! The kids loved being able to feed the calves. The shower water was hot and the tap water was drinkable.

It is a beautiful place. All wel accept one thing.
I asked for three beds and there were two perfect beds bust the third was an very small hard kind of couch. One of us had two times a sleepless night. Never never do that again please.
Also promised Jose us all kinds of Antilles, we haven’t seen one. 🙁😏

We LOVED our casita at Terra Viva. It was really special. We awoke each morning to a view of trees dripping in ferns and epiphytes and to the sounds of birds. The facilities were great, with all we needed to make our own breakfasts provided by Jose - this included milk from the farm, tea, coffee, bread, eggs, fresh fruit, jam and butter. It was so lovely to eat at leisure with the lovely views. The beds were comfy and the cabin was really spacious. Jose, our host, went above and beyond, helping us book activities and taxis. He is so friendly and lovely and it seems like nothing is too much trouble. Although there's lots to do in Santa Elena, we ended up spending lots of time at the casita as it was such a wonderful place to hang out.

Me.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The Casita was comfortable and had a nice view of the farmland.
José (the host) walked us through instructions regarding trash disposal, pest handling etc. The kitchen was stocked with fruits, fresh milk, juice, bread and eggs so we could make breakfast.
It was very windy while we stayed here especially at night which was wonderful white noise. We had some trouble the first night with hot water which José promptly helped us out with. They have solar heaters and backup electric heaters so there is nothing to worry about the availability of hot water. I liked that the bath and toilet were separated . There are tons of blankets available to stay cozy. We didn't need to use them as it was warm.
José was just an all around wonderful host who honestly went out of his way to call a touring company who had let me know that Finca was out of their way to get transportation arranged. He also contacted our ride car driver to ensure they had the instructions to pick us up from the Casita to avoid us carrying our luggage to the reception. He has great suggestions so be sure to check with him on things to do around.
We didn't get to do the farm things here. The cat was super friendly and wanted to play with us but we were in a hurry so couldn't. We saw the cows and the pigs having a good time. :)
The water pressure in the shower was not strong so it took a longer time to get freshened up.

The location was good enough, although not walkable. Host was nice. The property was in a farm and they allowed us to feed the calves.
The room was small for the price, and lacked closets for clothes and storage. The property could use some more maintenance. Breakfast was advertised - but it’s just bread, jam and butter left in the fridge.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. So cool that it’s carbon neutral. Jose was amazing and we felt very looked after. The breakfast supplies are such a lovely touch. We stayed at 6 different places on our trip and this was the favourite.

The experience of being on the cow farm, solitude, peace and quiet, feeding the cows
It was all around great. It is rustic, but that is a bonus for us.

Cool wooden farm house on a working farm in the middle of nature with easy access to outdoor activities in Monteverde. Fresh farm products for breakfast.

Lovely location with a great view of the natural surroundings. Well situated for the various activities in the vicinity, especially with the help of our excellent and very attentive host Jose. Amazing how he quickly helped us find and book the best activities during the few days we spent there. Many kudos to him for this and to all his family for establishing and maintaining this lovely Finca, including a worthwhile hiking trail.
Breakfast is on the basic side so may need to shop some extras to your liking

The location is outside of the town but set on a farm with great scenery and wildlife. Jose, who greeted us, couldn't have been more helpful. The lodge was big and well presented. Breakfast was provided on arrival for our 2 day stay - fresh milk from the farm, juice, fruit, eggs, bread, butter etc. So it was self-catered but with the food provided. The whole place was rustic and charming.

Amazing location and views! Jose was extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the farm fresh eggs, milk, juice, and fruit that was provided. Feeding the baby cows was amazing! Such a special place! Would 100% recommend and stay again!

Gorgeous country location! And the window front wall is just amazing. I could see a tucan family flying in and out of their nest from my bed in the mornings! We enjoyed walking around their beautiful grounds too. Our host was amazingly friendly and helpful. Really loved our stay and recommend it to others looking for a rural stay.
If you're terrified of bugs it might not be for you. Lots of dead bugs around the cabin, and some living creatures too that we tried to take care of. It's also a rough drive but not impossible. Just a lot of bumps.

Very peaceful spot. Jose, our host, was very accommodating and welcoming. The active farm was a plus.
The place was nearly perfect for us. People who want more of a resort might look elsewhere. The location was somewhat remote but, again, that worked for us.
