Staff were friendly
Hotel is in a state of disrepair. Really very poor standard. Phone didn't work, pillows were lumpy, gap under the bedroom door quite noticeable. Additionally the kitchen disappointed with sub-standard food.

The room was modern and very spacious and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was good and the staff was wonderful. Room was spacious and overall quite pleasant.
Fake coffee pods instead of proper Nespresso pods, not even good fake ones. The room smelt muggy a lot of the time. The bed creaked and made a lot of noice anytime you turned. Facilities felt slightly "worn"...not polished/sleak.

Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The library with the roaring fire was the perfect spot to unwind after a busy week.
Attention to detail... the property is lovely but many little things let the side down rather badly. E.g. a forgotten ladder right next to our room door, a dead plant on the bar counter, huge cobwebs in the ceiling of our room, black mold in the shower, a broken blind in our room (tried to open it, the whole thing fell on the floor), a bathroom door that does not close, etc. If small things like listed above can be sorted out throughout the property, it would increase the enjoyment of the hotel experience tremendously.

Bar area with fireplace was amazing.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. George and Raymand were very helpful with all things.
Breakfast was great.
Bar cocktails was good.
Check-in and checking out was hassle free.
The breakfast room fireplace had no heating, and the fireplace did not work. It seemed very cold with no ambiance.
The room was great however the shower drainage had a problem as water spilled over into the main bathroom wetting the floor extensively.
Pool area was not really great as pool was pretty cool and jacuzzi freezing cold when it was tried. Even though it was some time after loadshedding.

Heated pool and Jacuzzi were a bonus. Quiet environment for a romantic getaway.

The location was beautiful
Way too many pig statues

The staff was absolutely delightful.
The baked goods/confectionery was out of this world.
The establishment just looked tired. It needs a face-lift. I'm sure the recent covid era took its toll.
Also, breakfast was weird. It wasn't explained well at all but the individual spread was good, albeit limited.

Spa facilities, meals available (excellent fillet steak) welcoming staff, location -quiet suburb but convenient distance from other amenities, library with cozy fire, well appointed room
Even though a small food & red wine menu was on offer, even less was actually available! Frustrating.
No lights in the stairwell so pitch dark when returning to the room at night - did request it to be attended to but not resolved.

Spacious and comfortable room. Shared heated pool and jacuzzi. Place was quiet so we had the jacuzzi to ourselves. Cozi bar area with good food. Breakfast was also good.
In-room entertainment can do with an upgrade. Only dstv available.

it’s beautiful and the location is beautiful
that they told us that the drinks in the room is not free when we were leaving instead of letting us know when we got there

Service was good and did not get hotel feel

The property looked lovely and I liked my room a lot.
The Steam room and Jacuzzi wasn’t working and we were looking forward to spending time in the Jacuzzi.

Breakfast was really good, with wide variety to choose from and really good cappachinos and fresh juices.
Dinner was very mediocre. Will rather go to an outside restaurant next time.
2.5 / 5.0
great location and decor.
there was no communication about the generator that was broken. I even called ahead to make a lunch booking only to be told the restaurant is closed. we couldn’t use any of the facilities and was forced to sit in the dark in my hotel room on the evening of my engagement. if this was communicated up from I would have picked another hotel. such a pity.
2.5 / 5.0
The pool and sauna facilities. The in room coffee and water. The bathroom gels and creams.
The property needs maintenance. Since my last stay, it appears “rundown” - needs polishing and “fixes”. Rooms were not cleaned well. Our bathtub leaked and maintenance spent well over an hour having clean and mop up tge flooded floor. The in room fridge made the most awful noise all night which kept me awake. My kid luckily slept through the buzzing noise. My froend found a baby cockroach in her bed! Dinner food was less than average - and chef would not do accommodate my friends request for a side of vegetables? Quite bizarre as we were the only guests eating at the property. Small touches are missing for an upmarket houtique hotel - peppermint post dinner. Chocolates on the bed. Accommodating a slightly later checkout when hotel is almost empty. Breakfast tealeaf selections for the displayed “brew” pots? (Used to be my favourite). I truly was sad to see this once beautiful and eclectic space falling so much to the wayside.

We booked and paid for our reservation. When we arrived at the property they told us their system made an error and they had overbooked. They found us an alternative far away, way lower level and totally unacceptable.
The whole experience was bad. Booking.com who we have used for years were equally useless and not helpful.
Lack of understanding and the whole approach and effort to remedy our situation was not adequate.

The most incredible staff and General Manager - everyone so hands on and attentive to the smallest detail. I have been in the hospitality, eventing and marketing industry for 35 years and the hotel was immaculate. The food and breakfasts were wonderful and reasonable. Spa on site an absolute win with wonderful therapists. Entry level rooms - Premium - where South Africans can afford deliver beyond expectations. Would not look anywhere else if you are wanting to explore the Stellenbosch area.
The only thing I would love if there was NO wi-fi - as I am electrosensitive. Miss the days when one could go anywhere without being radiated.

Good room
No battery lights in room for when power cuts happened. Not acceptable.

Location
Photos of rooms are not what you get. Not worth the money you are paying per room.
Breakfast was not great and was served late even after confirming and requesting early breakfast for group.
Property needs maintenance
Management is really not great and communication between the staff and communication to us as guests were poor to non existent.
Will NEVER EVER book here again!!!!!

inside swimming pool - clean and nice
no spa treatments as shown on the spa information sheet time until 20h00 was in reality only 16h00. No ala cart menu available only set menus. Reception staff was very friendly, but place need to be cleaned properly (floor was dirty in bathroom) shower floor has wooden planks in it, water does not flow away quickly you are standing in the water. Gown was teared at shoulder, no flat sheet on bed. Fitted sheet has a hole in it. Very old. Bed was not made up properly. Cleaning staff was talking very loudly near our room early on Sunday morning (before 8h00). Not sure why?
