How exceptionally beautiful it was with a rich history. The staff were so friendly and welcoming especially Tinashe. The food was amazing. The bathroom floors and towel rack were heated.
Absolutely nothing. Loved it!

The setting was beautiful and the food in the main restaurant was perfect. Absolutely delicious food!
It missed a lot of touches I would expect from a 5 star hotel. The staff were kind and friendly but lacked the cohesiveness and in some cases, presentation. It didn’t seem like they were connected behind the scenes on who the guests were, which night of their stay it was etc. When I was sat down for breakfast I was shown to my seat and left without any explanation of how the breakfast is run and an offer of coffee/tea. There were many situations like these that made this place feel 4 star instead of 5.
The hotel is obviously old and characterful but not in any way immaculate. My veranda to my room was covered in leaves, it wasn’t a problem but I would have expected this to be sweeped and checked on before my check in. Dirty door mats that sit wonky at the front of the rooms, lots of stains on furniture. Also, when sitting outside at the spa there was a stray pipe pushing water out from the jacuzzi that was under maintenance. I would always try and hide these things from guests where possible, but instead we sat watching a lovely view whilst a blue plastic pipe was nearby soaking the veranda we were sitting on.
These comments may seem petty in nature, but when you are paying £400/ R8700 a night I definitely expected a different experience.

We had the most fantastic time at Lanzerac. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 5 nights in July 2022. Everything was perfect: beautiful room and common areas, amazing food, super friendly and helpful staff. We couldn’t have chosen better.

The rooms, facilities, the friendly staff and the attention to detail.

Location excellent, staff amazing.
We had a leaking ceiling after some rain - there is definitely some maintenance needed here and there.
4.8
Good Breakfeast and Service. Wonderful landscape and vineyard.
A bit worn over the years, overpriced for high expectations.
4.8
Most things about Lanzerac never change, the venue is top class, however the constant operational adjustments at Lanzerac over the years is putting that 5 star at risk, the human element always has an impact.
Terrible Spa service, poor treatment and overpriced
Dinner restaurant serving rotten fish twice and destroyed a ribeye on the bone steak dinner, no seasoning and dry.
Foam pillows with no alternative is not 5 star

Location, friendly staf, and of course the residential owls.
Quality of food (both breakfast and diner) didn’t really impress me. It all looked beautiful, but missed flavor. Food was good but not good enough for an upscale property like that. So it didn’t meet my expectations based on the quality of the rest of the property.
4.8
Nice garden. Large premises. Beautiful layout.
My pillow was a bit hard and high. There wasn’t a softer one in the room. I was a bit late to find out. So didn’t call for a soft pillow.

This is an exceptional hotel in a great green location surrounded by vineyards and mountains. Very comfortable room, and an outstanding breakfast. It is a bit pricy but worth visiting. I liked that wine tasting and a vine cellar visit were included in the price. They have also accommodated my request for late checkout.
I ordered extra service, i.e. dinner on Saturday evening, but did not get a confirmation. Reception could be more effective in communication with guests. Dinner with vine pairing was excellent though.

Breakfast was good, with nothing extraordinar/remarkable..
Venue, most pleasant.
The fruit juices were not freshly pressed. Croissants not flaky and crispy

Room, bathroom, mini bar, staff, room service and breakfast
The price was high for 2 guests sharing a room but the quality of time I spent with my Personal Assistant who manages my Medical Practice at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital, who has also become my best friend was priceless but costly. I did wish to book a Spa treatment but I was at fault by not booking well in advance. We were contacted when other clients cancelled but only got a 15 min heads up so we were unable to go due to very short notice.

We stayed in Room 101, which is opposite to the main reception area, both people and car traffic can be loud especially given the old-style sash windows which are not soundproof (understandably). Other than this, we had a wonderful stay at Lanzerac and are already looking into next year's visit (but hopefully not in Room 101)

beautiful estate, very luxurious with services to match
confusion and management lapses for some meal times but otherwise excellent service
4.8
Beautiful setting, amazing suite and views, lovely spa and courteous staff.
