Excellent staff, always working to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The food was very good indeed, if a little pricy. The Riviera is in an ideal location on the esplanade, facing the sea. We didn't have a sea-view room as this would have added an extra £1500 to the week's bill. Parking at the rear included open garages which was good for our open sports car. When a closed garage became available we were moved into it without having to ask.
Expensive!

location amazing for rooms on sea view side.
The staff were as good or better then any at 5* hotels we have stayed at.
A tad old fashioned but perfectly presented.

Service is outstanding. From greet, to check in to all the superb hosting. All staff are fantastic!

Breakfast was excellent, staff was excellent
The surprise was ruined by sending a letter directly to me when my daughters booked it as a surprise. It was also our wedding anniversary and felt for the price we paid there could have been something nice included. e.g. a bottle of bubbly

The staff are excellent, food very good. Bed comfortable
Bar closed a bit early but room service available.

£432 for a double room is overpriced even given the seaview

Good breakfast but would have preferred a buffet for at least some of the cold food.
Attentive staff.
Generally very clean.
Good parking in underground garage.
Our room (201) was too small, with two unnecessary chairs in the way making it even worse.
This hotel is very dated and is mostly catering for older clients in my opinion.
The evening meal included in our £340 half-board tariff was 5 courses - if you chose anything off that limited menu, you get a credit of £22 per person instead of the 5 courses - seems very unreasonable to me.
Wine was expensive.

Hotel staff ( all of them, everywhere ) are absolutely excellent.
Cuisine was very good.
Bed tucked up against the wall

Room felt small, surprised at plastic hangars, not a lot of showerwash had to ask for more, small packet biscuits not very 4-star. Bed made so tightly with blankets couldnt get top cover off.
The view from my room was described as a town view, but the view was a huge, gravelled flat roof top.

All food was excellent, restaurant and reception staff very helpful and polite. Location great and christmas decor beautiful.
My sister paid for a surprise upgrade to seaview room without which we would have had a room over looking the car park which for the price we paid and the fact it was our golden wedding anniversary would have been a major disappointment.
The pianist took offence at us listening to a video message from our grandson and remonstrated with us loudly and directly. We were very embarrassed. The bar staff did not intervene. With hindsight were remiss to listen to the message and we apologised many times. The owner did investigate and took the time to phone us but seemed to have to come to the conclusion that the incident was our fault although he articulated this in a respectful way. Sadly our 50th anniversary will be remembered with some disappointment although with a lot of enjoyment too.

We very pleased with all the meals, there was so much choice, the service was excellent nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The cleanliness of the whole hotel was excellent not a speck of dust anywhere.
Jolly well done.
We were lucky to get a book with such short notice but the only thing we were a little disappointed with was the size of our room, it was very tight to get into the room with the two chairs at the end of the bed. If you got up in the night to go to the bathroom you had to be careful not to walk in to the chairs.

The location only.
For £165 for 1 night, the value for money was poor.
The toilet would not flush and there were stains on the single divan bed.
Outdated decor.
Travelling for buisness and stsy in hotels frequently, but this is one I would not return to.

Very good breakfasts delicious food excellent service. The hospitality was second to none. They were always friendly and willing to please. A very good location and I appreciated that they brought the car around when we needed it. The food was exceptional
Room was expensive for what we got. No fridge room was bit too small. Decoration of room and hotel in general was very dated and as we had booked a twin we didn’t appreciate that they never separated the beds. Other hotels for the same prices had swimming pools and spars..

The weather was unseasonably cold and our room, on the top floor was absolutely freezing, including the bathroom. The housekeeper supplied us with a heater which was excellent and we were very grateful for the prompt service, but the bathroom remained cold because the towel rail was not turned on. We were told that all the heating had been turned off for the season and this seems odd, given the vagaries of English weather.
As we are both over 80 we would have appreciated a room with a walk in showers and I wonder if this is an option for some rooms. Also, we would have preferred a duvet to. Blankets and wonder if this is an option.

The holiday was booked last minute so we did not have the best of the rooms but despite this the holiday was super with wonderful staff and jolly good covid arrangements. Next time we might go for one of the better rooms. Beautiful terrace smiling, helpful staff - especially the 'butler'.
It suited our current requirements for a good week's break.

Friendly staff and lovely location. The breakfast was very good.
The evening dinner was very overpriced for what us was rack of lamb is two of the tiniest lollipops lamp cutlets I have ever seen certainly not a rack. And as the hotel is by the sea to I expected fresh fish the Dover sole was tasteless and was clearly frozen.
